Enhancing through-plane thermal conductivity of fluoropolymer composite by developing in situ nano-urethane linkage at graphene–graphene interface显示文摘Attributed to the intense development and complexity in electronic devices, energy dissipation is becoming more essential nowadays. The carbonaceous materials particularly graphene(Gr)-based thermal interface materials(TIMs)are exceptional in heat management. However, because of the anisotropic behavior of Gr in composites, the TIMs having outstanding through-plane thermal conductivity(┴TC)are needed to fulfill the upcoming innovation in numerous devices. In order to achieve this,herein,nano-urethane linkage-based modified Gr and carbon fibers architecture termed as nanourethane linkage(NUL)-Gr/carbon fibers(CFs)is fabricated.Wherein, toluene diisocyanate is utilized to develop a novel but simple NUL to shape a new interface between graphene sheets.Interestingly, the prepared composite of NUL-Gr/CFs with polyvinylidene fluoride matrix shows outstanding performance in heat management.Owing to the unique structure of NUL-Gr/CFs,an unprecedented value of┴TC(~7.96 W·m^–1·K^–1)is achieved at a low filler fraction of 13.8 wt.%which translates into an improvement of^3,980%of pristine polymer. The achieved outcomes elucidate the significance of the covalent interaction between graphene sheets as well as strong bonding among graphene and matrix in the composites and manifest the potential of proposed NUL-Gr/CFs architecture for practical applications.Muhammad Maqbool Haichang Guo Akbar Bashir Ali Usman Adeel YAbid Guansong He Yanjuan Ren Zeeshan Ali Shulin Bai 2020Nano Research2020,13,10:3

Connective tissue growth factor expression hints at aggressive nature of colorectal cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND Connective tissue growth factor(CTGF)is a mediator of transforming growth factor-beta signaling and plays a key role in connective tissue remodeling, inflammatory processes and fibrosis in various illnesses including cancer.AIM To investigate the role of CTGF in colorectal cancer(CRC)progression and to compare the CTGF expression with different clinicopathological parameters.METHODS Real-time polymerase chain reaction, immunohistochemistry and Western blotting was performed to evaluate the CTGF expression and the results were statistically analyzed against the clinicopathological variables of patient data using STATA software version 16.RESULTS CTGF expression levels in tumor specimens were significantly higher than their paired normal specimens. The higher protein expression levels showed a significant association with smoking, staging, tumor grade, invasion depth, necrosis of tumor tissue, and both lymphovascular and perineural invasion. As per the cox regression model and classification tree analysis,tumor-nodemetastasis stage and perineural invasion were important predictors for CTGF expression and prognosis of CRC patients.Survival analysis indicated that CTGF overexpression was associated with poorer overall and disease-free survival.CONCLUSION Expression of CTGF was increased in CRC and was linked with poor overall and disease-free survival of CRC patients. These findings support prior observations and thus CTGF may be a possible prognostic marker in CRC.Ishrat Parveiz Bhat Tahseen Bilal Rather Irfan Maqbool Gowhar Rashid Kulsum Akhtar Gulzar A Bhat Fazl Q Parray Besina Syed Ishrat Younas Khan Mohsin Kazi Muhammad D Hussain Mudassar Syed 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,5:1

Salinity Stress in Wheat:Effects,Mechanisms and Management Strategies显示文摘Salinity stress is a major threat to global food production and its intensity is continuously increasing because of anthropogenic activities.Wheat is a staple food and a source of carbohydrates and calories for the majority of people across the globe. However, wheat productivity is adversely affected by salt stress, which is associated with a reduction in germination, growth, altered reproductive behavior and enzymatic activity, disrupted photosynthesis, hormonal imbalance, oxidative stress, and yield reductions. Thus,a better understanding of wheat(plant)behavior to salinity stress has essential implications to devise counter and alleviation measures to cope with salt stress.Different approaches including the selection of suitable cultivars, conventional breeding, and molecular techniques can be used for facing salt stress tolerance. However, these techniques are tedious, costly, and labor-intensive.Management practices are still helpful to improve the wheat performance under salinity stress.Use of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, and exogenous application of phytohormones, seed priming, and nutrient management are important tools to improve wheat performance under salinity stress. In this paper,we discussed the effect of salinity stress on the wheat crop, possible mechanisms to deal with salinity stress, and management options to improve wheat performance under salinity conditions.Mahmoud F.Seleiman Muhammad Talha Aslam Bushra Ahmed Alhammad MuhammadUmair Hassan Rizwan Maqbool Muhammad Umer Chattha Imran Khan Harun Ireri Gitari Omer S.Uslu Rana Roy Martin Leonardo Battaglia 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,4:1

Detection of Omicron Caused Pneumonia from Radiology Images Using Convolution Neural Network(CNN)显示文摘COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has created social and economic disruption across theworld. The ability of the COVID-19 virus to quickly mutate and transfer has created serious concerns across the world. It is essential to detectCOVID-19 infection caused by different variants to take preventive measures accordingly. The existing method of detection of infections caused by COVID-19 and its variants is costly and time-consuming.The impacts of theCOVID-19 pandemic in developing countries are very drastic due to the unavailability of medical facilities and infrastructure to handle the pandemic.Pneumonia is the major symptom of COVID-19 infection. The radiology of the lungs in varies in the case of bacterial pneumonia as compared to COVID-19-caused pneumonia. The pattern of pneumonia in lungs in radiology images can also be used to identify the cause associated with pneumonia. In this paper,we propose the methodology of identifying the cause(either due to COVID-19 or other types of infections)of pneumonia from radiology images.Furthermore, because different variants of COVID-19 lead to different patterns of pneumonia, the proposed methodology identifies pneumonia, the COVID-19 caused pneumonia, and Omicron caused pneumonia from the radiology images. To fulfill the above-mentioned tasks,we have used three Convolution Neural Networks(CNNs)at each stage of the proposed methodology. The results unveil that the proposed step-by-step solution enhances the accuracy of pneumonia detection along with finding its cause, despite having a limited dataset.Arfat Ahmad Khan Malik Muhammad Ali Shahid Rab Nawaz Bashir Salman Iqbal Arshad Shehzad Ahmad Shahid Javeria Maqbool Chitapong Wechtaisong 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:0
Mobile biosafety level (BSL) 2 laboratories deployment: Strengthening the diagnostic facilities in Pakistan with emerging public health challenges and the way forward显示文摘Availability of mobile laboratories can facilitate rapid on-spot detection of pathogens, monitor its presence in certain populations and inform health authorities to take immediate remedial measures.Currently available biosafety and biosecurity guidelines and policies may not completely articulate the increased demand to manage mobile units in infectious disease outbreaks in remote parts of the country for rapid diagnosis, and also allows research and epidemiological study take place appropriately. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the current limitations and develop and implement biosafety and biosecurity guidelines as well as the protocols for operations, security, and response plan of mobile biosafety level 2 laboratories and their deployment.Keeping in view the sensitivity of it,a comprehensive plan was developed to address it in view of Global Health Security framework.Biosafety and biosecurity protocols were developed including Risk Assessment Tool(RAT)fitting the needs and strengthen the diagnostic and epidemiological capacity in the field covering remote parts of country to fill the gaps observed during the COVID-19 pandemic.Currently the biosafety and biosecurity best practices guidelines and biosecurity policy and regulations are directed mostly towards static laboratories.A biosafety and biosecurity manual developed to adopt and meet the requirements for MBSL 2.For acute health infectious threats including the COVID-19 outbreak and other epidemics, rapid diagnosis can curb and mitigate the problem before it gets out of its boundaries creating significant health risks for the public and economy. The deployment of mobile laboratories will certainly help in curbing these catastrophes.Shamsul Arfin Qasmi Aamer Ikram Muhammad Tariq Muhammad Tahir Khadim Nabeel Ahmed Maqbool 2023Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2023,5,2:0
Epidemiology and Control of Congo Fever in Sacrificial Animals of Pakistan显示文摘The cases and deaths due to Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever(CCHF)virus commonly known as Congo virus(fatality rate 15%)have been reported throughout Pakistan from the last few years especially during religious occasion,Eid-ul-Azha.The annual increase in death rates due to CCHF demonstrate the importance of awareness of Congo fever at academia as well as public level. The symptoms of Congo fever which appear one to nine days after tick bite, include sudden high fever, muscle aches, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, sore eyes, jaundice, mood swings, confusion, aggression, and sensitivity to light. The other signs include sore throat, joint pain, vomiting, diarrhea, hemorrhages, and bleeding from skin and large intestine. The Infection has been reported in many species of wild as well as domestic animals including hares, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, mice and hedgehogs. At least 31 species of Hyalomma,Boophilus,Rhipicephalus,Dermacentor(Ixodidae:hard ticks)act as vector of CCHF in which transovarial, transstadial and venereal transmission occurs. The virus attacks the immune system of the host and influences the immune cells. The Congo fever virus can be isolated from blood, plasma and many body tissues(kidneys, liver, spleen, lungs, brain and bone marrow).Mice inoculation,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)can be used for detection of the infection.Furthermore,IgM and IgG antibodies against CCHFV can also be detected and quantified.Education of general public, tick control with acaricides, use of anti-CCHFV immunoglobulin, usage of approved repellents to prevent tick bites, wearing neutral-coloured garments, application of a permethrin spray to the clothing, avoiding tall grasses and shrubs, applying sunscreen, avoiding direct contact with the blood or tissues of animals are the factors for successful prevention of the infection.Hafiz Muhammad Rizwan Muhammad Sohail Sajid Haider Abbas Muhammad Fiaz Qamar Qaiser Akram Mahvish Maqbool 2019Veterinary Science Research2019,1,2:0
Exploration of Genetic Pattern of Phenological Traits in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under Drought Stress显示文摘Drought is the major detrimental environmental factor for wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)production.The exploration of genetic patterns underlying drought tolerance is of great significance. Here we report the gene actions controlling the phenological traits using the line×tester model studying 27 crosses and 12 parents under normal irrigation and drought conditions. The results interpreted via multiple analysis(mean performance, correlations, principal component, genetic analysis, heterotic and heterobeltiotic potential)disclosed highly significant differences among germplasm. The phenological waxiness traits(glume, boom, and sheath)were strongly interlinked.Flag leaf area exhibits a positive association with peduncle and spike length under drought. The growing degree days(heat-units)greatly influence spikelets and grains per spike, however, the grain yield/plant was significantly reduced(17.44 g to 13.25 g)under drought. The principal components based on eigenvalue indicated significant PCs(first-seven)accounted for 79.9%and 73.9%of total variability under normal irrigation and drought, respectively. The investigated yield traits showed complex genetic behaviour. The genetic advance confronted a moderate to high heritability for spikelets/spike and grain yield/plant.The traits conditioned by dominant genetic effects in normal irrigation were inversely controlled by additive genetic effects under drought and vice versa. The magnitude of dominance effects for phenological and yield traits,i.e.,leaf twist, auricle hairiness, grain yield/plant,spikelets,and grains/spike suggests that selection by the pedigree method is appropriate for improving these traits under normal irrigation conditions and could serve as an indirect selection index for improving yield-oriented traits in wheat populations for drought tolerance. However, the phenotypic selection could be more than effective for traits conditioned by additive genetic effects under drought. We suggest five significant cross combinations based on heterotic and heterobeltiotic potential of wheat genotypes for improved yield and enhanced biological production of wheat in advanced generations under drought.Iqra Ishaaq Muhammad Umer Farooq Syeda Anjum Tahira Rizwana Maqbool Celaleddin Barutçular Muhammad Yasir Saira Bano Zaid Ulhassan Ghassan Zahid Muhammad Ahsan Asghar Sajad Hussain Kocsy Gabor Ulkar Ibrahimova Jianqing Zhu Anshu Rastogi 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,12:0
Identifying Driver Genes Mutations with Clinical Significance in Thyroid Cancer显示文摘Advances in technology are enabling gene mutations in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC)to be analyzed and clinical outcomes, such as recurrence,to be predicted. To date, the most common genetic mutation in PTC is in BRAF kinase(BRAF).However, whether mutations in other genes coincide with those in BRAF remains to be clarified. The aim of this study was to find mutations in other genes that co-exist with mutated BRAF,and to analyze their frequency and clinical relevance in PTC.Clinical and genetic data were collected from 213 PTC patients with a total of 36,572 mutation sites in 735 genes. After matching with genes from PTC entries in a global database(NCBI Gene),69 genes with mutations in coding regions were chosen for further study.Through frequency-based analysis,we identified commonly mutated genes co-existing with mutated BRAF and, using the mutation count correlation matrix(MCCM)method, analyzed their incidence according to age and gender. We designed Chord diagrams to reveal gene relationships concerning age and gender, and found that mutations in ALK,ATM,COL1A1,MSTIR,PRKCA,and WNK1 most commonly coincide with mutated BRAF,followed by APC,AURKA,and AURKB.These findings provide further insight into the genetic profile of PTC.Hyeong Won Yu Muhammad Afzal Maqbool Hussain Hyungju Kwon Young Joo Park June Young Choi Kyu Eun Lee 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,4:0
Low melting point MCP-69, MCP-96, MCP-137, and MCP-200 alloys for radiation protection in radiological and therapeutic processes显示文摘Objective To evaluate the low melting-point MCP-69,MCP-96,MCP-137,and MCP-200 alloys, and characterize them for their potential to protect from the harms associated with radiation and eliminate radiation hazards during radiological procedures and treatment of cancer. Methods The Klein-Nishina formula was used to calculate the electronic and atomic cross-sections of these alloys using photon beams with energies 4,6,9,12,and 18MeV.Energy transfer coefficients,Compton mass attenuation coefficient,mass-energy transfer coefficient, and recoil energy of electrons in the specific photon energies of 4–18MeV were calculated. The alloys'effective charge number and the photon energy were key factors in determining the properties found by utilizing the Klein-Nishina formula and Compton effects. Results The cross sections and energy transfer coefficients increased with the increasing effective charge number Z of the alloys and decreased as the photon energy increased. The Compton recoil of the ejected electrons was observed to have a direct relationship with photon energy, but mass-energy transfer decreased with increasing photon energy. These alloys can replace the toxic lead for environmentally cleaned radiation applications. Conclusions These calculations and characteristics of the MCP alloys can help further determine their viability as materials for radiation shielding, their use in safe cancer diagnosis, treatment, and environmental hazards protection.Michael W.Perrigin Kendall A.Williams Brandon K.Wright Malaika Maqbool Emily Caffrey Remo George Ghafar Ali Muhammad Maqbool 2022Radiation Medicine and Protection2022,3,4:0
Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation conditioning regimens and chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy in various diseases显示文摘Conditioning regimens employed in autologous stem cell transplantation have been proven useful in various hematological disorders and underlying malignancies;however, despite being efficacious in various instances, negative consequences have also been recorded.Multiple conditioning regimens were extracted from various literature searches from databases like PubMed,Google scholar,EMBASE,and Cochrane.Conditioning regimens for each disease were compared by using various end points such as overall survival(OS),progression free survival(PFS),and leukemia free survival(LFS).Variables were presented on graphs and analyzed to conclude a more efficacious conditioning regimen. In multiple myeloma, the most effective regimen was high dose melphalan(MEL)given at a dose of 200/mg/m2.The comparative results of acute myeloid leukemia were presented and the regimens that proved to be at an admirable position were busulfan(BU)+MEL regarding OS and BU+VP16 regarding LFS.In case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL),BU,fludarabine, and etoposide(BuFluVP)conferred good disease control not only with a paramount improvement in survival rate but also low risk of recurrence. However, for ALL,chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)T cell therapy was preferred in the context of better OS and LFS.With respect to Hodgkin’s lymphoma,mitoxantrone(MITO)/MEL overtook carmustine,VP16,cytarabine,and MEL in view of PFS and vice versa regarding OS.Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients were administered MITO(60 mg/m2)and MEL(180 mg/m2)which showed promising results.Lastly, amyloidosis was considered, and the regimen that proved to be competent was MEL 200(200 mg/m2).This review article demonstrates a comparison between various conditioning regimens employed in different diseases.Shahzaib Maqbool Maryam Farhan Baloch Muhammad Abdul Khaliq Khan Azeem Khalid Kiran Naimat 2024World Journal of Transplantation2024,14,1:0
Sorption and Leaching Potential of Isoproturon and Atrazine in Low Organic Carbon Soil of Pakistan Under a Wheat-Maize Rotation显示文摘Pesticide leaching is a great threat in low organic carbon soils when subjected to improper irrigation scheduling.Limited data are available on the sorption and leaching potential of pesticides in agricultural soils of Pakistan with low soil organic carbon(SOC).Lysimeter and field studies were conducted with and without manure application at two irrigation levels in a wheat-fallowmaize rotation in Faisalabad,Punjab,Pakistan.Isoproturon was applied to wheat 55 d after sowing at 1 kg active ingredient(a.i.)ha^(-1),while atrazine was sprayed on maize 30 d after sowing at 0.774 kg a.i.ha^(-1).Soil was sampled from three depths(0-35,35-70,and 70-110 cm) for the field study and four depths(0-35,35-70,70-115,and 115-160 cm) for the lysimeter study,280 and 65 d after application of isoproturon and atrazine, respectively. The soil-water partition coefficients(K_d) of isoproturon and atrazine ranged from 0.3 to 1.2 and 0.4 to 1.5 L kg^(-1),respectively,and increased linearly with increase in SOC contents. The organic carbon-normalized soil-water partition coefficient(K_(oc)) of isoproturon and atrazine averaged 246.1 and 184.9 L kg^(-1),respectively,being higher with low spiking concentration.Isoproturon residues measured 280 d after application ranged from 2.1% to 3.6% of the applied mass in the lysimeter study and from 1.5% to 3.1% under field conditions.Atrazine residues 65 d after application ranged from only 0.62% to 0.78% and from 0.88% to 0.82% in the lysimeter and field studies, respectively. The lowest levels of residues for both pesticides were observed with frequent irrigation applied to manure-amended soil.A pesticide leaching risk screening tool, the ground water ubiquity score(GUS),indicated that in the absence of manure under both irrigation levels, isoproturon has a leaching potential(GUS = 2.8),while with the application of manure it has a very low leaching risk.Atrazine GUS ranged from 1.7 to 1.9,indicating a very low risk of leaching.Muhammad TAHIR Anwar Ul HASSAN Saliha MAQBOOL Brian BARBER William C.KOSKINEN PENG Xinhua David J.MULLA 2016Pedosphere2016,26,5:0
Blockchain Based Enhanced ERP Transaction Integrity Architecture and PoET Consensus显示文摘Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP)software is extensively used for the management of business processes.ERP offers a system of integrated applications with a shared central database.Storing all business-critical information in a central place raises various issues such as data integrity assurance and a single point of failure, which makes the database vulnerable. This paper investigates database and Blockchain integration, where the Blockchain network works in synchronization with the database system, and offers a mechanism to validate the transactions and ensure data integrity.Limited research exists on Blockchain-based solutions for the single point of failure in ERP.We established in our study that for concurrent access control andmonitoring of ERP,private permissioned Blockchain using Proof of Elapsed Time consensus is more suitable. The study also investigated the bottleneck issue of transaction processing rates(TPR)of Blockchain consensus, specifically ERP’s TPR.The paper presents systemarchitecture that integrates Blockchain with an ERP system using an application interface.Tehreem Aslam Ayesha Maqbool Maham Akhtar Alina Mirza Muhammad Anees Khan Wazir Zada Khan Shadab Alam 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,1:0
Use of Impella cardiac axial flow pump for cardiogenic shock(A newer alternative)-How good is the evidence?显示文摘The adverse outcomes of a ventricular heart failure(left, right or biventricular)caused by cardiogenic shock are aggravated by lung oedema and organ mal perfusion.Despite advances in medical sciences, revascularisation and mechanical hemodynamic support have proved ineffective in reducing the mortality rate in such patients.A thorough study of the data available about cardio-vascular diseases reveals that the application of conventional methods of treatment are least helpful to practically restore normal functions of heart when it experiences end-stage systolic ventricular failure. Thus,to overcome the challenges and find alternatives to address this issue, percutaneous ventricular support devices/machines were designed and successfully introduced. These devices have revolutionized the treatment of ventricular heart failures and are now in use all over the world. In this review paper a newer mechanical circulatory support(MCS)device,Impella, has been discussed and compared with a few other devices like(Intra-aortic Balloon Pump(IABP),Extracorporeal Circulation(ECLS)and Veno-arterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation(VA-ECMO).This article studies the challenges being faced during the treatment of cardiogenic shock, and thoroughly discusses the use and effectiveness of Impella Cardiac Axial Pump in each emergency. It can be said that mechanical circulatory support(MCS)device use during percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)should be individualized based on multiple factors with a recommended use in patients with the greatest potential benefit and a relatively low risk of device-related complications. The current literature suggests that the outcomes of use of Impella and other mechanical circulatory support devices like IABP and VA-ECMO are comparable.Though there seem to be a few advantages of Impella over the others, sufficiently powered,multi-centric,randomised control trials are needed to establish its superiority.RAFIQ AHMED BHAT SYED MANZOOR ALI YOOSUF ALI ASHRAF MUHAMMAD HUSSENBOCUS AKANKSHA RATHI JAVAID AKHTER BHAT ABDUL ALEEM KHAN SYED MAQBOOL RAJA SAQIB IQBAL MD MONOWARUL ISLAM YONGSHENG QU YOU ZHANG YUXIAO SUN WENTAO XIAO ABHISHEK TIBREWAL CHUANYU GAO 2022BIOCELL2022,46,5:0
