Reflection of plane seismic waves at the surface of double-porosity dual-permeability materials显示文摘The present work deals with the reflection of plane seismic waves at the stress-free plane surface of double-porosity dualpermeability material. The incidence of two main waves(i.e., P_1 and SV) is considered. As a result of the incident waves, four reflected(three longitudinal and one shear) waves are found in the medium. The expressions of reflection coefficients for a given incident wave are obtained as a non-singular system of linear equations. The energy shares of reflected waves are obtained in the form of an energy matrix. A numerical example is considered to calculate the partition of incident energy for fully closed as well as perfectly open pores. Effect of incident direction on the partition of the incident energy is analyzed with the change in wave frequency, wave-induced fluid-flow, pore-fluid viscosity and double-porosity structure. It has been confirmed from the numerical interpretation that during the reflection process, conservation of incident energy is obtained at each angle of incidence. | Manjeet Kumar Manjeet Kumari Mahabir Singh Barak | 2018 | Petroleum Science2018,15,3: | 3
Seismic reflection and transmission coefficients of a single layer sandwiched between two dissimilar poroelastic solids显示文摘The seismic reflection and transmission characteristics of a single layer sandwiched between two dissimilar poroelastic solids saturated with two immiscible viscous fluids are investigated. The sandwiched layer is modeled as a porous solid with finite thickness. The propagation of waves is represented with potential functions. The displacements of particles in different phases of the aggregate are defined in terms of these potential functions. Due to the presence of viscosity in pore fluids, the reflected and transmitted waves are inhomogeneous in nature, i.e., with different directions of propagation and attenuation. The closed-form analytical expressions for reflection and transmission coefficients are derived theoretically for appropriate boundary conditions. These expressions are calculated as a non-singular system of linear algebraic equations and depend on the various parameters involved in this non-singular system. Hence, numerical examples are studied to determine the effects of various properties of the sandwich layer on reflection and transmission coefficients. The essential features of layer thickness, incident direction, wave frequency, liquidsaturation and capillary pressure of the porous layer on reflection and transmission coefficients are depicted graphically and discussed. The analysis shows that reflection and transmission coefficients are strongly associated with incident direction and various properties of the porous layer. | Manjeet Kumari Mahabir Singh Barak Manjeet Kumar | 2017 | Petroleum Science2017,14,4: | 2

Wave-induced flow of pore fluid in a cracked porous solid containing penny-shaped inclusions显示文摘An aim of current study is to analyze the contribution of reflected longitudinal waves to wave-induced fluid flow(WIFF) in the cracked porous solid.Initially,we investigate the time harmonic plane waves in cracked porous solid by employing the mathematical model proposed by Zhang et al.(2019).The solution is obtained in form of the Christoffel equations. The solution of the Christoffel equations indicates that there exist four(three dilatational and one shear) waves. These waves are attenuated in nature due to their complex and frequency-dependent velocities. The reflection coefficients are calculated at the sealed pore stress-free surface of cracked porous solid for the incidence of P1 and SV waves. It is found that three longitudinal waves contribute to WIFF and the contribution of these waves to the induced fluid in the cracked porous solid is analyzed using the reflection coefficients of these longitudinal waves. We analytically show that the fluid flow induced by these longitudinal waves is linked directly to their respective reflection coefficients. Finally,a specific numerical example is considered to discuss and to depict the impact of various parameters on the characteristics of propagation like phase velocity/attenuation,reflection coefficients and WIFF of longitudinal waves. | Manjeet Kumari Virender Manjeet Kumar | 2021 | Petroleum Science2021,18,5: | 0

Semantic segmentation of landcover for cropland mapping and area estimation using Machine Learning techniques显示文摘The paper has focussed on the global landcover for the identification of cropland areas.Population growth and rapid industrialization are somehow disturbing the agricultural lands and eventually the food production needed for human survival.Appropriate agricultural land monitoring requires proper management of land resources. The paper has proposed a method for cropland mapping by semantic segmentation of landcover to identify the cropland boundaries and estimate the cropland areas using machine learning techniques. The process has initially applied various filters to identify the features responsible for detecting the land boundaries through the edge detection process. The images are masked or annotated to produce the ground truth for the label identification of croplands, rivers, buildings, and backgrounds. The selected features are transferred to a machine learning model for the semantic segmentation process. The methodology has applied Random Forest, which has compared to two other techniques,Support Vector Machine and Multilayer perceptron, for the semantic segmentation process. Our dataset is composed of satellite images collected from the QGIS application. The paper has derived the conclusion that Random forest has given the best result for segmenting the image into different regions with 99%training accuracy and 90%test accuracy. The results are cross-validated by computing the Mean loU and kappa coefficient that shows 93%and 69%score value respectively for Random Forest, found maximum among all.The paper has also calculated the area covered under the different segmented regions.Overall,Random Forest has produced promising results for semantic segmentation of landcover for cropland mapping. | Surabhi Lingwal Komal Kumar Bhatia Manjeet Singh | 2023 | Data Intelligence2023,5,2: | 0
Propagation of plane waves in thermoelastic cubic crystal material with two relaxation times显示文摘A problem concerned with the reflection and refraction of thermoelastic plane waves at an imperfect interface between two generalized thermally conducting cubic crystal solid half-spaces of different elastic and thermal properties with two relaxation times has been investigated. The generalized thermoelastic theory with two relaxation times developed by Green and Lindsay has been used to study the problem. The expressions for the reflection and refraction coefficients which are the ratios of the amplitudes of reflected and refracted waves to the amplitude of incident waves are obtained for an imperfect boundary and deduced for normal stiffness, transverse stiffness, thermal contact conductance, slip and welded boundaries. Amplitude ratios of different reflected and refracted waves for different boundaries with angle of emergence have been compared graphically for different incident waves. It is observed that the amplitude ratios of reflected and refracted waves are affected by the stiffness and thermal properties of the media. | Rajneesh Kumar Manjeet Singh | 2007 | Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2007,28,5: | 0
