| 1 | Phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of leaf extracts from ten Algerian Ficus carica L. varieties显示文摘Objective: To determine the total phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of methanolic leaf extracts of ten Algerian fig(Ficus carica L.)varieties(uniferous, biferous and caprifig tree).Methods: Phenolics were extracted by Soxhlet method and analyzed by the Folin–Ciocalteu colorimetric method. Flavonoids were determined by aluminum trichloride assay and the antioxidant capacity was determined by the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assay. The antimicrobial activity was studied with the disc diffusion method and a macrodilution broth method was used to determine the minimal inhibitory concentrations and minimal lethal concentrations.Results: The mean extract yield was 14.10% ± 0.66%(n = 10). Leaf extract of biferous followed by uniferous varieties had the highest total phenolic contents [(52.296 ± 5.232)and(48.973 ± 2.015) mg gallic acid equivalent/g of dry plant extract respectively], flavonoids [(14.388 ± 0.333) and(14.136 ± 1.082) mg quercetin equivalent/g of dry plant extract] and antioxidant capacity [IC50(798.754 ± 108.590) and(825.004 ± 110.835) mg/m L]. Antioxidant capacity of fig leaves was significantly correlated with phenolic contents(r = 0.748). These extracts showed bactericidal activity and moderate antifungal activity, and the minimal inhibitory concentrations and minimal lethal concentrations were determined on Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus.Conclusions: All tested extracts contain phenolic compounds and exhibited an antioxidant activity and an antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. | 2 | Biliary brush cytology:Factors associated with positive yields on biliary brush cytology显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the yield of brushing biliary strictures and the factors associated with a positive result in biliary strictures. METHODS: Data on all consecutive patients (01/02 -10/05) who were identified to have a biliary stricture and who underwent biliary brush cytology were collected. The yield of positive biliary brush cytology was evaluated and compared to results with the gold standard for diagnosis (defi ned as either defi nitive surgical histology or clinical course). Additionally,associated factors of positive results including stricture location,gender,age,mass size,length of stricture,and dilatation prior to brushing cytology were assessed. RESULTS: From 199 patients who had brushing cytology samples (10 patients were excluded due to lack of gold standard diagnosis),77 patients had positive brushing cytology (yield 41%). Variables associated with positive cytology brushing on initial endoscopic retrograde cholangiography were age 1.02 (1.00-1.05),mass size > 1 cm 2.22 (1.01-4.89) and length of stricture > 1 cm 3.49 (1.18-10.2). The sensitivity of biliary brushing was 61%,its specifi city 98%,the positive predictive value reached 99%,and the negative predictive value was 57%. CONCLUSION: Our results revealed a 41% positive yield from brushing cytology. The sensitivity of biliary brushing cytology in our center was 61% and the specif icity was 98%. | 3 | Pathological and High Resolution CT Findings in Churg-Strauss Syndrome显示文摘Objective To investigate the Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) associated lung involvement,concentrating on clinical characteristics,pathological findings of lung involvements,response to treatment,and prognosis.Methods We retrospectively analyzed the characters of the clinical manifestations,thin-section CT and pathological findings of CSS.The study involved 16 patients.Clinical data were obtained by chart review.All patients underwent transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB).Six of them underwent surgical lung biopsy as well.Results The patients included 7 men and 9 women,aged from 14 to 61 years (median,47.5 years).Extrathoracic organs involved included nervous system (7/16) and skin (5/16).Respiratory symptoms included cough (12/16),exertional dyspnea (11/16),hemoptysis (4/16),and chest pain (3/16).CT findings included bilateral ground-glass opacities (12/16),bilateral patchy opacities (12/16),and centrilobular nodules (6/16).The pathological findings of TBLB demonstrated increased eosinophils (3/16),vasculitis (3/16),and interstitial pneumonia (16/16).The pathological findings of surgical lung biopsy of 6 cases showed necrotizing vasculitis in 4 cases,capillaries in 5,eosinophilic pneumonia in 3,granulomas in 2,and airway abnormalities in 3.All patients improved in symptoms after therapy during the study period (range,3 to 51 months;median,15 months).Conclusions Asthma may be present in CSS patient when there is bronchial involvement.Ground-glass opacities and consolidation seen on high-resolution CT reflect the presence of eosinophilic pneumonia,vasculitis,and pulmonary alveolar hemorrhage.TBLB has significant limitations for the diagnosis of CSS.Early diagnosis and therapy can result in satisfactory prognosis. | Rui-e Feng Wen-bing Xu Ju-hong Shi Artin Mahmoudi Wen-bing MU Wen-jie Zheng Yuan-jue Zhu Hong-rui Liu | 2011 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2011,26,1: | 8 |

| 5 | 活体异体结膜缘和羊膜移植治疗化学性眼外伤造成的角膜缘干细胞缺失(英文)显示文摘目的:评价利用活体异体结膜缘和羊膜移植治疗化学性眼外伤造成的角膜缘干细胞缺失的临床效果。方法:从2005-07/2007-12,本研究包括了9名男性化学性眼外伤患者(10眼)。所有患者接受了亲属活体异体结膜缘和羊膜移植,2例眼接受了睑缝术。用环孢菌素和泼尼松龙进行全身性免疫抑制。结果:在3例眼中观察到完全角膜上皮化(30%),其中1例在术后1.5mo出现免疫排斥,角膜溶解引起穿孔,加大全身性免疫抑制剂量来控制病情。3例眼中植片无法在角膜表面重新形成上皮,被定为原发性失败。其余4眼有部分上皮形成,但上皮细胞无法完全覆盖角膜表面。术前最佳矫正视力从手动到1m处数指,术后最佳矫正视力从光感到20/80。有5眼视力得到改进,不需其他治疗。手术失败的主要原因为干眼症和持续性炎症。结论:对于能控制泪量和眼部炎症的病例,亲属活体异体角膜缘和羊膜移植是治疗化学性眼外伤造成的角膜缘干细胞缺失最佳方法之一。 | Mehdi Hosseini Tehrani Asoo Ali Mahmoudi Hassan Hashe-mi Syed Jafar Oskouee Javad Amuzadeh Mohammad Taher Rajabi Masoomeh Taherzadeh Hamideh Shenazandi | 2008 | 国际眼科杂志2008,8,6: | 5 |

| 8 | In Silico Prediction and Validation of Gfap as an miR-3099 Target in Mouse Brain显示文摘MicroRNAs are small non-coding RNAs that play crucial roles in the regulation of gene expression and protein synthesis during brain development. MiR-3099 is highly expressed throughout embryogenesis, especially in the developing central nervous system. Moreover, miR-3099 is also expressed at a higher level in differentiating neurons in vitro, suggesting that it is a potential regulator during neuronal cell development. This study aimed to predict the target genes of miR-3099 via in-silico analysis using four independent prediction algorithms(miRDB,miRanda, Target Scan, and DIANA-micro-T-CDS) with emphasis on target genes related to brain development and function. Based on the analysis, a total of 3,174 miR-3099 target genes were predicted. Those predicted by at least three algorithms(324 genes) were subjected to DAVID bioinformatics analysis to understand their overallfunctional themes and representation. The analysis revealed that nearly 70% of the target genes were expressed in the nervous system and a significant proportion were associated with transcriptional regulation and protein ubiquitination mechanisms. Comparison of in situ hybridization(ISH) expression patterns of miR-3099 in both published and in-house-generated ISH sections with the ISH sections of target genes from the Allen Brain Atlas identified 7 target genes(Dnmt3a, Gabpa, Gfap, Itga4,Lxn, Smad7, and Tbx18) having expression patterns complementary to miR-3099 in the developing and adult mouse brain samples. Of these, we validated Gfap as a direct downstream target of miR-3099 using the luciferase reporter gene system. | 10 | Solids flow diagram of a CFB riser using Geldart B-type powders显示文摘Riser operating modes are vital to designing a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) reactor for a required process of either a gas-solid or a gas-catalytic nature. Different operating modes provide different solids' residence times and mixing behaviors, which define the reactions' efficiency and yield. The literature demonstrates distinct operating modes resulting from observed differences in slip factors and the range of particle velocities and their associated residence time distribution. The present research uses positron emission particle tracking (PEPT) in a riser of B-type bed material to determine the different operating modes by measuring (i) particle velocities and residence time distribution, (ii) population densities of these particles in the cross-sectional area of the riser, and (iii) solids flow pattern at the bottom of the riser. Data treatment defines four distinct solids hold-up regimes in the riser and proposes a 'phase diagram' depicting the existence of the different operating modes (dilute, dense, core-annulus and combined) as a function of the superficial gas velocity and solids circulation flux in the riser. The delineated regimes have good agreement with available literature data and known industrial operations. Comparison with literature data for risers using A-type powders is also fair. | 11 | Simultaneous removal of Congo red and cadmium(Ⅱ) from aqueous solutions using graphene oxide–silica composite as a multifunctional adsorbent显示文摘Graphene oxide is a very high capacity adsorbent due to its functional groups and π-π interactions with other compounds. Adsorption capacity of graphene oxide, however, can be further enhanced by having synergistic effects through the use of mixed-matrix composite. In this study, silica-decorated graphene oxide(SGO) was used as a high-efficiency adsorbent to remove Congo red(CR) and Cadmium(Ⅱ) from aqueous solutions. The effects of solution initial concentration(20 to 120 mg/l), solution pH(pH 2 to 7), adsorption duration(0 to 140 min) and temperature(298 to 323 K) were measured in order to optimize the adsorption conditions using the SGO adsorbent. Morphological analysis indicated that the silica nanoparticles could be dispersed uniformly on the graphene oxide surfaces. The maximum capacities of adsorbent for effective removal of Cd(Ⅱ) and CR were 43.45 and 333.33 mg/g based on Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms, respectively. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms displayed the highest values of Q max for CR and Cd(Ⅱ) adsorption in this study, which indicated monolayer adsorption of CR and multilayer adsorption of Cd(II) onto the SGO, respectively. Thermodynamic study showed that the enthalpy( H) and Gibbs free energy( G) values of the adsorption process for both pollutants were negative, suggesting that the process was spontaneous and exothermic in nature.
