| 3 | Synthesis and antibacterial studies of ciprofloxacin-metal complexes显示文摘Metal complexes of ciprofloxacin were synthesized to study the effect of the drug on the metals present in the body or metals co-administered as multivitamin therapy. These complexes were then characterized by IR, UV, 1 H NMR, CHN and AA analyses. It was found that the metals coordinated through the β-keto carboxylic group, forming four coordinated complexes having square planar geometry. The effect of the antibacterial activity of these complexes with respect to parent drug was also studied against 14 different Gram + ve and Gram – ve organisms by the disk susceptibility technique. | 5 | A comparison of elderly (20~65 yrs) life style with body mass index (BMI)25显示文摘Objective:compare the habits and features of obese (BMI>25) and normal (BMI<25) individuals and express a method to ameliorate the life styles using a cross-sectional experiment.Methods:A total of 220 randomly selected cases were divided into case group (n=110) and control group (n=100) according to the calculated BMI level.Samples with BMI>25 kg/m2 were assigned to the case (obsess) group and those with BMI ranging from 20 to 25 were assigned to control (normal) group.The Miller-Smith life style questionnaires consisting 20 questions each with 5 different answers were given to both groups.Data of the questionnaires were collected and analyzed using t-test and Chi-square with SPSS.Results:No significant differences were found among the two groups in terms of the mean age,gender,level of education,marital status,insurance,breakfast,lunch or dinner,fried meat,legumes,caffeinated beverages,the length of sleep during 24 h,cigarette smoking and losing job or spouse.However,in regards to use of vegetables,sausage,fried potatoes,enriched breads,low fat milk,low salt,candies and chocolates significant relations were found (P<0.05).Conclusion:The present study suggests one way to control obesity and prevent diseases is to ameliorate the life styles.There is a relation between health and stress and irregularity of meals,such as breakfast skipping,is associated with overweight and obesity in adolescence. | M.Saeed Heydarnejad Ali Hassanpour Dehkordi | 2010 | 海南医学院学报2010,16,3: | 0 |

| 7 | Characterization and Functionalisation of Activated Carbon for the Enhancement of Enzyme Catalyst Activity显示文摘Background and objective:Activated carbon is commonly used as an immobilisation matrix due to its large surface area,making it a highly desirable matrix for use in immobilising enzymes as preparation for use on the industrial scale.The objective of this research is to determine the effectiveness of different acids for functionalisation on immobilisation capacity and also to characterize the functionalized activated carbon for the functional groups present.Materials and methods:Activated carbon was functionalised with three acids(hydrochloric acid,nitric acid and sulphuric acid)along with a control sample washed with distilled water.Immobilisation capacity was calculated with hydrochloric acid functionalized activated carbon(HCl-FAC)giving the highest immobilization capacity(6.022 U/g).Characterisation of the functionalised activated carbon was conducted using FT-IR(Fourier Transform Infra-Red)spectroscopy analysis of the samples with the aim of analyzing the various functional groups present to determine the sample with distinct characteristics thus telling the degree of adsorption of lipase onto the activated carbon powder.Results:HNO3-FAC(functionalized activated carbon)showed a very distinct pattern as a larger number of surface functional groups emerged.The immobilisation on a matrix ensures thermal stability and increased reusability of the enzyme.Therefore,in this research,lipase sourced from Candida antarctica was immobilised on acid functionalised activated carbon.The best acid for functionalisation was found to be hydrochloric acid.Conclusion:Due to the very distinct patterns shown by the FT-IR spectrum of the HNO3-FAC after a fair comparison with others,it allows for a larger number of surface functional groups which will definitely enhance the stability of the enzyme lipase. | Nassereldeen A Kabbashi Yara Hunud Abia Kadouf Ibrahim Adebayo Bello Elwathig M.Saeed Lubna Mohamed Musa Nassereldeen Ahmed Kabbashi | 2021 | 材料科学与工程(中英文B版)2021,11,2: | 0 |

| 12 | Behaviour of rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss) under defensible and indefensible patterns of food delivery显示文摘The goal of this study was to investigate the behaviour of rainbow trout(n=30),Oncorhynchus mykiss,in small raceways when either self-feeders(T2) or hand-feeding(t2) were used.The method of food delivery in T2 was defensible while that of t2 was indefensible.Fish in both raceways were subjected to restricted feeding(RF) for 25 days.Food was available in the morning(09:00-10:00) in the downstream area and in the afternoon(16:00-17:00) in the upstream area of the raceways.The results showed that the behaviour of rainbow trout was significantly different under interference competition(T2) for food compared with that under scramble competition(t2).RF in T2 fish limited food availability to meal times when feeding rewards were available while t2 fish only responded to the location of food delivery.The aggressive fish in T2 were dominant,and t2 fish at high densities showed intense social interactions under the indefensible pattern of food distribution;these interactions did not dampen to a minimum level to suppress the development of dominance hierarchies.Further,the stocking density did not break down the dominance hierarchies between the T2 fish.This suggests that decreased efficiency in the search for food or inefficient foraging,induced by interference competition at high densities,affected the behaviour of rainbow trout. | M.SAEED HEYDARNEJAD G.J.PURSER | 2010 | Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2010,28,4: | 0 |
