1Second law analysis of Blasius flow with nonlinear Rosseland thermal radiation in the presence of viscous dissipation显示文摘In the present article,we perform the second law analysis of classical Blasius flow accounting the effects of nonlinear radiation and frictional heating.The two-dimensional boundary layer momentum and energy equations are converted to self-similar equations using similarity transformations.The set of resultant ordinary differential equations are solved numerically.The numerical results obtained from solutions of dimensionless momentum and energy equations are used to calculate the entropy generation number and Bejan number.The velocity profile f'(ξ),temperature distributionθ(ξ),entropy production number Ns and Bejan number Be are plotted against the physical flow parameters and are discussed in detail.Further,for the sake of validation of our numerical code,the obtained results are reproduced using Matlab built-in boundary value solver bvp4c resulting in an excellent agreement.It is observed that entropy generation is increasing function of heating parameter,Prandtl number,Eckert number and radiation parameter.Further,it is observed that entropy generation can be minimized by reducing the operating temperatureΔT=T_(w)−T_(∞).M.I.Afridi M.Qasim 2019Propulsion and Power Research2019,8,3:1
2Petrogenesis of Middle Triassic Volcaniclastic Rocks from Balochistan,Pakistan:Implications for the Break-Up of Gondwanaland显示文摘Basaltic volcanic conglomerates near the Wulgai village in Balochistan occur in the undivided sedimentary rock unit of the Bagh complex which is the mélange zone beneath the Muslim Bagh ophiolite. The presence of Middle Triassic grey radiolarian chert within the upper and lower horizon of the conglomerates suggests that the lavas, from which these conglomerates were principally derived, were eroded and re-deposited in the Middle Triassic. The Wulgai conglomerate contains several textural and mineralogical varieties of volcanic rocks, such as porphyritic, glomerophyric, intersertal and vitrophyric basalts. The main minerals identified in these samples are augite, olivine, plagioclase(An35–78) leucite and nosean, with apatite ilmenite, magnetite and hematite occurring as accessory minerals. These rocks are mildly to strongly-alkaline with low Mg~# and low Cr, Ni and Co contents suggesting that their parent magma had undergone considerable fractionation prior to eruption. Trace element-enriched mantle-normalized patterns with marked positive Nb anomalies are consistent with 10%–15% melting of an enriched mantle source in a within-plate tectonic setting. 3Dual Solutions of MHD Boundary Layer Flow of a Micropolar Fluid with Weak Concentration over a Stretching/Shrinking Sheet显示文摘We investigate the dual solutions for the MHD flow of micropolar fluid over a stretching/shrinking sheet with heat transfer. Suitable relations transform the partial differential equations into the ordinary differential equations.Closed forms solutions are also obtained in terms of confluent hypergeometric function. This is the first attempt to determine the exact solutions for the non-linear equations of MHD micropolar fluid model. It is demonstrated that the microrotation parameter helps in increasing Nusselt number and the dual solutions exist for all fluid flow parameters under consideration. 5Particle breakage of sand subjected to friction and collision in drum tests显示文摘This paper presents a laboratory experimental study on particle breakage of sand subjected to friction and collision,by a number of drum tests on granular materials(silica sand No.3 and ceramic balls)to investigate the characteristics of particle breakage and its effect on the characteristics of grain size distribution of sand.Particle breakage increased in up convexity with increasing duration of drum tests,but increased linearly with increasing number of balls.Particle breakage showed an increase,followed by a decrease while increasing the amount of sand.There may be existence of a characteristic amount of sand causing a maximum particle breakage.Friction tests caused much less particle breakage than collision tests did.Friction and collision resulted in different mechanisms of particle breakage,mainly by abrasion for friction and by splitting for collision.The fines content increased with increasing relative breakage.Particle breakage in the friction tests(abrasion)resulted in a sharper increase but with a smaller total amount of fines content in comparison with that in the collision tests(splitting).For the collision tests,the fines content showed a decrease followed by an increase as the amount of sand increased,whereas it increased in up convexity with increasing number of balls.The characteristic grain sizes D_(10) and D_(30) decreased in down convexity with increasing relative breakage,which could be described by a natural exponential function.However,the characteristic grain sizes D50 and D60 decreased linearly while increasing the relative breakage.In addition,the coefficients of uniformity and curvature of sand showed an increase followed by a decrease while increasing the relative breakage.Fangwei Yu Chonglei Zhang Qijun Xie Lijun Su Tao Zhao M.Qasim Jan 2021Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,2:0
