| 3 | Interactive data styling and multifocal visualization for a multigrid web-based Digital Earth显示文摘Globe-based Digital Earth(DE)is a promising system that uses 3D models of the Earth for integration, organization, processing, and visualization of vast multiscale geospatial datasets. The growing size and scale of geospatial datasets present significant obstacles to interactive viewing and meaningful visualizations of these DE systems. To address these challenges,we present a novel web-based multiresolution DE system using a hierarchical discretization of the globe on both server and client sides. The presented web-based system makes use of a novel data encoding technique for rendering large multiscale geospatial datasets, with the additional capability of displaying multiple simultaneous viewpoints.Only the data needed for the current views and scales are encoded and processed. We leverage the power of GPU acceleration on the client-side to perform real-time data rendering and dynamic styling.Efficient rendering of multiple views allows us to support multilevel focus+context visualization,an effective approach to navigate through large multiscale global datasets. The client–server interaction as well as the data encoding, rendering, styling, and visualization techniques utilized by our presented system contribute toward making DE more accessible and informative. | M.J.Sherlock M.Hasan F.F.Samavati | 2021 | International Journal of Digital Earth2021,14,3: | 1 |

| 5 | Assessment of Nanoparticle-Enriched Solvents for Oil Recovery Enhancement显示文摘Solvents are generally used to reduce the viscosity of heavy crude oil and ultimately enhance oil recovery.Recently,a new method has been introduced where nanoparticles(NPs)are exploited to induce enhanced oil recovery owing to their ability to improve the mobility ratio, dampen the interfacial tension, and alter rock wett-ability.This study investigated the integration of nano-alumina(Al_(2)O_(3))NPs with an n-hexane solvent. In parti-cular,a Brookfield viscometer has been used to measure the crude oil viscosity and it has been found that NPs can effectively lead to a significant decrease in the overall oil viscosity(70 cp using the solvent only,45 cp when NPs are added). | Muayad M.Hasan Firas K.Al-Zuhairi Anfal H.Sadeq Rana A.Azeez | 2023 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2023,19,11: | 0 |
| 6 | A New Medical Image Enhancement Algorithm Based on Fractional Calculus显示文摘The enhancement of medical images is a challenging research task due to the unforeseeable variation in the quality of the captured images. The captured images may present with low contrast and low visibility, which might inuence the accuracy of the diagnosis process. To overcome this problem, this paper presents a new fractional integral entropy(FITE)that estimates the unforeseeable probabilities of image pixels, posing as the main contribution of the paper. The proposed model dynamically enhances the image based on the image contents. The main advantage of FITE lies in its capability to enhance the low contrast intensities through pixels’probability.Initially, the pixel probability of the fractional power is utilized to extract the illumination value from the pixels of the image.Next, the contrast of the image is then adjusted to enhance the regions with low visibility. Finally, the fractional integral entropy approach is implemented to enhance the low visibility contents from the input image.Tests were conducted on brain MRI,lungs CT,and kidney MRI scans datasets of different image qualities to show that the proposed model is robust and can withstand dramatic variations in quality. The obtained comparative results show that the proposed image enhancement model achieves the best BRISQUE and NIQE scores.Overall, this model improves the details of brain MRI,lungs CT,and kidney MRI scans, and could therefore potentially help the medical staff during the diagnosis process. | Hamid A.Jalab Rabha W.Ibrahim Ali M.Hasan Faten Khalid Karim Ala’a R.Al-Shamasneh Dumitru Baleanu | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,8: | 0 |
| 7 | Torsional postbuckling characteristics of functionally graded graphene enhanced laminated truncated conical shell with temperature dependent material properties显示文摘Buckling and postbuckling characteristics of laminated graphene-enhanced composite(GEC)truncated conical shells exposed to torsion under temperature conditions using finite element method(FEM)simulation are presented in this study. In the thickness direction, the GEC layers of the conical shell are ordered in a piece-wise arrangement of functionally graded(FG)distribution, with each layer containing a variable volume fraction for graphene reinforcement. To calculate the properties of temperaturedependent material of GEC layers, the extended Halpin-Tsai micromechanical framework is used. The FEM model is verified via comparing the current results obtained with the theoretical estimates for homogeneous, laminated cylindrical, and conical shells, the FEM model is validated. The computational results show that a piece-wise FG graphene volume fraction distribution can improve the torque of critical buckling and torsional postbuckling strength. Also, the geometric parameters have a critical impact on the stability of the conical shell. However,a temperature rise can reduce the crucial torsional buckling torque as well as the GEC laminated truncated conical shell’s postbuckling strength. | Hamad M.Hasan Saad S.Alkhfaji Sattar A.Mutlag | 2023 | Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2023,13,4: | 0 |
