| 1 | Observation of Magnetohydrodynamics Instabilities in Ion Berstein Wave and Lower-Hybrid-Current Driving Synergetic Discharges on HT-7 Tokamak显示文摘The normalized performance indicated by the product ofβNH89>2 was achieved by a combination of the lower hybrid current driving (LHCD) and the ion Berstein wave (IBW) heating in the HT-7 tokamak. More than 80% of the plasma current was sustained by the LHCD and the bootstrap current. Large edge pressure gradients were observed. The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) instabilities were often driven to terminate the discharge or reduce the discharge performance, when the IBW resonant layer was near the rational surface. The resonant layer of the safety factor q=2 is located at 0.6 a with a = 27 cm being the minor radius. The width of magnetic island (the poloidal mode number m = 2) was about 2 cm. The plasma energy was reduced quickly by 30% by MHD instabilities. The behaviour of MIlD instabilities is reported. | 3 | Hydrodynamics and Heat Transfer Analysis of Airflow in a Sinusoidally Curved Channel显示文摘For heat transfer enhancement in heat exchangers,different types of channels are often tested.The performance of heat exchangers can be made better by considering geometry composed of sinusoidally curved walls.This research studies the modeling and simulation of airflow through a 2πunits long sinusoidally curved wavy channel.For the purpose,two-dimensional Navier Stokes equations along with heat equations are under consideration.To simulate the fluid flow problem,the finite element-based software COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 is used.The parametric study for Reynolds number from Re=100 to Re=1000 and the period of vibration P from 0 to 5 are observed.The surface plots,streamline patterns,contours,and graphs are presented for the velocity field magnitude,temperature,and pressure against the Reynolds number as well as period of vibration.The results are compared with various literature.It is found that due to the creation of periodic contraction regions the velocity magnitude of the flow is continuously increasing with the increase of Reynolds number,on the contrary the pressure is decreasing from inlet to outlet of the channel.Also,a periodic variation in the pressure distribution along the vibrating boundaries has been found with an average increase of 500%for the high Reynolds number.A novel work was done by expressing the rotation rate per second in terms of local Reynolds number for the recirculating regions found due to the periodic oscillation of the boundaries.The average temperature near the outlet where a fixed temperature is imposed initially is decreasing with an increase in Reynolds number.The convection process is weakened due to an increase of periodic vibration of boundaries. | Abid.A.Memon M.Asif Memon Kaleemullah Bhatti Thanin Sitthiwirattham Nichaphat Patanarapeelert | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,6: | 0 |

| 5 | A Seismic Hazard Map Based on Geology and Shear-wave Velocity in Rawalpindi–Islamabad,Pakistan显示文摘The‘twin cities’district of Rawalpindi–Islamabad is among the most endangered seismic regions in Pakistan,with the seismic hazard assessed(0.32 g)to intensity IX MMI for a 475-year return period.A seismic hazard map for Rawalpindi–Islamabad is presented herein,based on 85 shear-wave velocity(VS)profiles obtained through geophysical H/V measurements and from the geological map of the region.Relationships between the average top thirty-meter shear-wave velocities(VS30)and surficial geological units have been determined.The peak ground acceleration(PGA)maps for 150,475 and 2475-year return periods were converted into a seismic intensity map.Intensity increments for different soils were used to compute PGA values for 150,475 and 2475-year return periods.Sites located on softer ground experienced a higher degree of damage from moderate earthquakes.Due to the presence of soft clay or liquefiable soil and lateral spreading,a few locations may be classified as hybrid sites class C and D.This map is a critical step in facilitating code-based site classification and seismic design throughout Rawalpindi–Islamabad.Although the seismic hazard map based on seismic intensities is no longer used in engineering geology,it is still important in seismological analysis and for civil protection purposes. | Sarfraz KHAN Muhammad WASEEM M.Asif KHAN | 2021 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,2: | 0 |

| 10 | Simulation of Non-Isothermal Turbulent Flows Through Circular Rings of Steel显示文摘This article is intended to examine the fluid flow patterns and heat transfer in a rectangular channel embedded with three semi-circular cylinders comprised of steel at the boundaries.Such an organization is used to generate the heat exchangers with tube and shell because of the production of more turbulence due to zigzag path which is in favor of rapid heat transformation.Because of little maintenance,the heat exchanger of such type is extensively used.Here,we generate simulation of flow and heat transfer using nonisothermal flow interface in the Comsol multiphysics 5.4 which executes the Reynolds averaged Navier stokes equation(RANS)model of the turbulent flow together with heat equation.Simulation is tested with Prandtl number(Pr=0.7)with inlet velocity magnitude in the range from 1 to 2 m/sec which generates the Reynolds number in the range of 2.2×10^(5) to 4.4×10^(5) with turbulence kinetic energy and the dissipation rate in ranges(3.75×10^(−3) to 1.5×10^(−2))and(3.73×10^(−3)−3×10^(−2))respectively.Two correlations available in the literature are used in order to check validity.The results are displayed through streamlines,surface plots,contour plots,isothermal lines,and graphs.It is concluded that by retaining such an arrangement a quick distribution of the temperature over the domain can be seen and also the velocity magnitude is increasing from 333.15%to a maximum of 514%.The temperature at the middle shows the consistency in value but declines immediately at the end.This process becomes faster with the decrease in inlet velocity magnitude. | Abid.A.Memon M.Asif Memon Kaleemullah Bhatti Kamsing Nonlaopon Ilyas Khan | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3: | 0 |
| 11 | Electron Temperature Measurement Using PIN Diodes as Detectors to Record the X-ray Pulses from a Low-Energy Mather-Type Plasma Focus显示文摘In the experiment to determine the plasma electron temperature, a modified multichannel PIN diodes assembly is used as detectors to record the X-ray pulses from a low-energy Mather-type plasma focus device energized by a 32 μF, 15 kV (3.6 kJ) single capacitor, with deuterium as a filling gas. The ratio of the integrated bremsstrahlung emission transmitting through foils to the total incident flux as a function of foil thickness at various temperatures is obtained for foil absorbers of material. Using 3 μm, 6 μm, 9 μm,12 μm,15 μm and 18 μm thick aluminium absorbers, the transmitted X-ray flux is detected. By comparing the experimental and theoretical curves through a computer program, the plasma electron temperature is determined.
