1A wave of Foxp3^(+) regulatory T cell accumulation in the neonatal liver plays unique roles in maintaining self-tolerance显示文摘Newborn animals require tightly regulated local and systemic immune environments to govern the development and maturation of multiple organs/tissues even though the immune system itself is far from mature during the neonatal period.Regulatory T cells(Tregs)are essential for maintaining immune tolerance/homeostasis and modulating inflammatory responses.The features of Tregs in the neonatal liver under steady-state conditions are not well understood.The present study aimed to investigate the phenotype,functions,and significance of neonatal Tregs in the liver.We found a wave of thymus-derived Treg influx into the liver during 1–2 weeks of age.Depletion of these Tregs between days 7 and 11 after birth rapidly resulted in Th1-type liver inflammation and metabolic disorder.More Tregs in the neonatal liver than in the spleen underwent MHC II-dependent activation and proliferation,and the liver Tregs acquired stronger suppressive functions.The transcriptomic profile of these neonatal liver Tregs showed elevated expression of PPARγand T-bet and features of Tregs that utilize lipid metabolic machinery and are capable of regulating Th1 responses.The accumulation of Tregs with unique features in the neonatal liver is critical to ensure self-tolerance and liver maturation.Mingyang Li Weijia Zhao Yifan Wang Lixue Jin Gaowen Jin Xiuyuan Sun Wei Wang Ke Wang Xi Xu Jie Hao Rong Jin Wenxian Fu Ying Sun Yingjun Chang Xiaojun Huang Xuyu Zhou Hounan Wu Kunshan Zhang Qing Ge 2020Cellular & Molecular Immunology2020,17,5:4
2Application of surface plasmon resonance in screening adsorbents and explaining adsorption phenomena using model polymers显示文摘A surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technique was developed as an online screening method to identify effective adsorbents for the peptide NH2-Cys-Thr-Trp-Trp-COOH (CW-4). To validate the SPR technique, several linear polymers containing amino acid residues were synthesized as models of their corresponding adsorbents. SPR screening of all the linear polymers demonstrated that the linear polymer containing phenylalanine residues (PPhe) exhibited the highest affinity for CW-4 among the polymers tested. In accordance with the screening results from SPR, the adsorbent containing phenylalanine (APhe) exhibited the highest adsorption capacity for CW-4. An interesting observation was that the amounts of CW-4 adsorbed on 3 adsorbents were quite small, even though both SPR and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) experiments indicated the presence of interactions between CW-4 and the three polymers. A kinetic analysis performed using SPR technology suggested such a phenomenon was ascribed to the poor stability of the CW-4/polymer complexes; that is, CW-4 associates with the polymers quickly, but it also dissociated quickly. 3An IPMC actuated robotic surgery end effector with force sensing显示文摘Growth in patient acceptance of robotic-assisted surgery has led to increased demand and has stimulated research in many new surgical robotic applications.In some cases,the performance of robotic surgery has proven to surpass that of human surgeons alone.A new research area which uses the inherently force-compliant and back-drivable properties of polymers,ionic polymer–metal composite(IPMC)in this case,has shown potential to undertake precise surgical procedures in the delicate environments related to medical practice.This is because IPMCs have similar actuation characteristics to real biological systems,which can help ensure safety.Despite this,little has been done in developing IPMCs for a rotary joint actuator for functional surgical devices.This research proposes and demonstrates the design of a single degree of freedom(1-DOF)robotic surgical instrument with one skeleton-joint mechanism actuated by IPMC with an embedded strain gauge as a feedback unit.The system performance with a developed gain-schedule PI controller is demonstrated.Despite the simplicity of the system,it was proven to be able to cut to the desired depth using the implemented force control(up to 8 gf cutting force).Kean Aw Lixue Fu Andrew McDaid 2013International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials2013,4,4:0
4Affinity adsorption mechanism studies of adsorbents C1-Zn(Ⅱ) for uremic middle molecular peptides containing Asp-Phe-Leu-Ala-Glu sequence显示文摘To exploit efficient adsorbents for removing middle molecular peptides containing DFLAE (DE5,a typical peptide sequence accumulated in uremic serum) sequence by hemoperfusion,we designed and synthesized three affinity adsorbents (C1-Zn2+,C2-Zn2+ and C3-Zn2+) that could have high affinity to DE5.Subsequently,we evaluated the corresponding adsorption ability of each adsorbent by static adsorption experiments and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).The results showed that C1-Zn2+ had the best adsorption ability to DE5-containing peptides and the adsorption capacity for DE5 was 8.52 mg/g.By changing the adsorption conditions,the adsorption mechanism was elucidated.The main driving force of the adsorption is metal-carboxyl coordination and the hydrophobic force affords the cooperative effect.It is expected that our present work can provide basic understanding for the design of adsorbents with high affinity and selectivity towards oligopeptides.LI PingLin FU LiXue QIAO YiTao ZHAO JianXin WANG Wei&YUAN Zhi 2011Science China Chemistry2011,54,2:0
