1Chitosan and chemically modified chitosan beads for acid dyes sorption显示文摘The capabilities of chitosan and chitosan-EGDE(ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether) beads for removing Acid Red 37(AR 37) and Acid Blue 25(AB 25) from aqueous solution were examined.Chitosan beads were cross-linked with EGDE to enhance its chemical resistance and mechanical strength.Experiments were performed as a function of pH,agitation period and concentration of AR 37 and AB 25.It was shown that the adsorption capacities of chitosan for both acid dyes were comparatively higher than those of chitosan-EGDE.This is mainly because cross-linking using EGDE reduces the major adsorption sites-NH3+ on chitosan.Langmuir isotherm model showed the best conformity compared to Freundlich and BET.The kinetic experimental data agreed very well to the pseudo second-order kinetic model.The desorption study revealed that after three cycles of adsorption and desorption by NaOH and HCl,both adsorbents retained their promising adsorption abilities.FT-IR analysis proved that the adsorption of acid dyes onto chitosan-based adsorbents was a physical adsorption.Results also showed that chitosan and chitosan-EGDE beads were favourable adsorbers and could be employed as low-cost alternatives for the removal of acid dyes in wastewater treatment.AZLAN Kamari WAN SAIME Wan Ngah LAI KEN Liew 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,3:18
2The improved element-free Galerkin method for three-dimensional transient heat conduction problems显示文摘With the improved moving least-squares (IMLS) approximation, an orthogonal function system with a weight function is used as the basis function. The combination of the element-free Galerkin (EFG) method and the IMLS approximation leads to the development of the improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method. In this paper, the IEFG method is applied to study the partial differential equations that control the heat flow in three-dimensional space. With the IEFG technique, the Galerkin weak form is employed to develop the discretized system equations, and the penalty method is applied to impose the essential boundary conditions. The traditional difference method for two-point boundary value problems is selected for the time discretization. 6预应力钢绞线温度膨胀及高温蠕变性能试验研究显示文摘火灾高温下钢绞线的温度膨胀及高温蠕变性能是影响张拉钢结构抗火能力的重要因素。该文以1860级预应力钢绞线为研究对象,采用非接触式应变视频测量系统,测试了钢绞线在15个温度水平下的热膨胀应变,得到热膨胀应变随温度的变化规律,并拟合出热膨胀系数计算公式。研究发现,大约750℃时钢绞线材料发生相变,导致热膨胀应变突变。通过钢绞线在不同温度及应力水平下的高温蠕变试验,得到蠕变应变与时间的关系曲线,并建议了钢绞线高温蠕变计算公式。高温蠕变试验现象表明,在较高温度及应力水平时,蠕变会导致钢绞线断裂;对经2 h高温蠕变未断裂的钢绞线自然冷却到常温后,进行抗拉强度试验,发现其抗拉强度有一定程度的退化,且经历的蠕变温度越高,应力水平对高温蠕变后试件抗拉强度的退化影响越明显。周浩 杜咏 李国强 Liew J Y Richard 汪贤聪 2018工程力学2018,35,6:9
7一种新型自复位耗能拉索支撑的理论研究与数值分析显示文摘传统的支撑框架体系通过材料的塑性屈服耗散地震能量,在震后往往产生较大的残余变形,不仅修复代价高昂,更会严重危害结构的使用安全。提出了一种新型支撑形式——自复位耗能拉索支撑,可在特定的地震水准下降低刚度,耗散地震能量,同时利用复位筋提供的恢复力消除支撑残余变形。对其构造和工作原理进行了详细的说明,建立了力学分析模型,理论推导了在单调荷载和往复荷载作用下的荷载-位移关系,提出了控制参数的计算方法。建立了ABAQUS有限元模型,通过与理论分析结果对比验证了支撑的工作性能。研究结果表明在楼层层间位移角达到2%时,支撑仍然具有完全的自复位能力。提出的力学模型和数值模型可为此类支撑的设计提供理论基础。池沛 董军 彭洋 LIEW J Y R Richard 2016振动与冲击2016,35,21:7
8Formation and control of nitrogenous DBPs from Western Australian source waters: Investigating the impacts of high nitrogen and bromide concentrations显示文摘We studied the formation of four nitrogenous DBPs(N-DBPs) classes(haloacetonitriles,halonitromethanes, haloacetamides, and N-nitrosamines), as well as trihalomethanes and total organic halogen(TOX), after chlorination or chloramination of source waters. We also evaluated the relative and additive toxicity of N-DBPs and water treatment options for minimisation of N-DBPs. The formation of halonitromethanes, haloacetamides, and N-nitrosamines was higher after chloramination and positively correlated with dissolved organic nitrogen or total nitrogen. N-DBPs were major contributors to the toxicity of both chlorinated and chloraminated waters. The strong correlation between bromide concentration and the overall calculated DBP additive toxicity for both chlorinated and chloraminated source waters demonstrated that formation of brominated haloacetonitriles was the main contributor to toxicity. Ozone–biological activated carbon treatment was not effective in removing N-DBP precursors. 13Effect of catalyst confinement and pore size on Fischer-Tropsch synthesis over cobalt supported on carbon nanotubes显示文摘This paper studies the impact of structure of cobalt catalysts supported on carbon nanotubes(CNT) on the activity and product selectivity of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis(FTS) reaction.Three types of CNT with average pore sizes of 5,11,and 17 nm were used as the supports.The catalysts were prepared by selectively impregnating cobalt nanoparticles either inside or outside CNT.The TPR results indicated that the catalyst with Co particles inside CNT was easier to be reduced than those outside CNT,and the reducibility of cobalt oxide particles inside the CNT decreased with the cobalt oxide particle size increasing.The activity of the catalyst with Co inside CNT was higher than that of catalysts with Co particles outside CNT.Smaller CNT pore size also appears to enhance the catalyst reduction and FTS activity due to the little interaction between cobalt oxide with carbon and the enhanced electron shift on the non-planar carbon tube surface.XIE Wei ZHANG YuHua LIEW KongYong LI JinLin 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,9:4
14Surface pollen and vegetation reconstruction from central and northern mountains of Taiwan显示文摘Surface pollen from various montane vegeta-tions in Shalixian Mt. and Lepei Mt. of central and northern Taiwan have been explored and analyzed. The pollen datawere used to simulate vegetation types by using the biomisa-tion technique. Computing three matrixes of pollen taxa,plant functional types and combined biomes, vegetation types at each site have been finally defined through the fuzselections of a tie-breaking rule. The results show that sur-face pollen data can simulate the subtropical Castanopsis andCyclobalanopsis forests, alpine warm-temperate Quercus and Quercus-Pinus forests, and alpine temperate/cool-temperate conifers of Tsuga-Picea and Picea-Abies forests. Simulatedelevations of the forests are similar to actual locations of the forests. 15Feasibility and accuracy of coronary imaging in elderly patients using the 64-row multi-detector computed tomography: a correlation study with conventional coronary angiography显示文摘Background Elderly patients generally have higher occurrence of coronary calcification, increased heart rate and difficulty with prolonged breath-holding. The aim of our study was to investigate the feasibility and accuracy of using 64-row multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) in the assessment of coronary artery stenoses in elderly patients. Methods One hundred and fifty two patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease were divided into 4 groups according to their age (Group A: 40-49 years,n=34; Group B: 50-59 years, n=57; Group C: 60-69 years, n=48; Group D: 70 years and above; n=13). Coronary CT angiography (CTA) using a 64-row MDCT was performed and the findings were compared with that of conventional coronary angiography (CCA).Using axial images, multi-planar reconstructions (MPR) and maximum intensity projections (MIP), coronary segments of lumen diameter = 1.5mm were analyzed for the presence of significant stenosis (= 50% ). Results Percentages of poor image quality from coronary CTA preventing reliable correlations with CCA were 21%, 14%, 19% and 62% in Groups A to D respectively. Patients in Group D had significantly higher calcium scores compared with the other groups (P<0.001). In patients where CTA images were of acceptable quality, percentages of accurate correlations with CCA were 89.8%, 93.4%, 86.6% and 78.0% for Groups A to D respectively.There were no significant difference in serum creatinine, heart rate and contrast volume between the 4 groups. Conclusions The 64-row MDCT coronary angiography was less accurate and feasible for patients aged 70 years or above due to heavy coronary calcification and inability to perform a satisfactory breath-hold. 17超高强混凝土型钢组合柱抗火性能试验研究显示文摘为研究型钢保护层厚度、柱截面尺寸、荷载比、长细比和箍筋间距对超高强混凝土型钢组合柱高温承载力的影响,开展了14根纤维增强120 MPa混凝土型钢组合柱在ISO 834标准升温曲线下的承载力试验。组合柱高温破坏现象和竖向位移历程表明:体积掺量0.15%的聚丙烯纤维能够有效防止超高强混凝土的高温爆裂;随着长细比的增加,组合柱从截面强度破坏转变为屈曲破坏。总体上,竖向位移历程曲线可分为受火初期膨胀阶段、后继的压缩变形稳定增长阶段和破坏前的压缩变形急剧增长阶段。纤维增强120 MPa混凝土型钢组合柱的耐火极限随着长细比和荷载比的增加而降低;随着截面尺寸和型钢保护层的增加而增长;双肢箍间距在80~150 mm范围变化,对耐火极限的影响较小。对比耐火极限的试验值和EN 1994-1-2及规程DBJ/T 15-81—2011简化计算方法的建议值发现,EN 1994-1-2的计算值低于试验值30%~186%,规程DBJ/T 15-81—2011的计算值与试验值偏差为-49%~16%。因此,现行规范不适用于预测120 MPa混凝土型钢组合柱的耐火极限。杜咏 周汇凯 LIEW J Y Richard 2021建筑结构学报2021,42,9:3

19Role of the CXCR4-SDF1-HMGB1 pathway in the directional migration of cells and regeneration of affected organs显示文摘In recent years,several studies have reported positive outcomes of cell-based therapies despite insufficient engraftment of transplanted cells.These findings have created a huge interest in the regenerative potential of paracrine factors released from transplanted stem or progenitor cells.Interestingly,this notion has also led scientists to question the role of proteins in the secretome produced by cells,tissues or organisms under certain conditions or at a particular time of regenerative therapy.Further studies have revealed that the secretomes derived from different cell types contain paracrine factors that could help to prevent apoptosis and induce proliferation of cells residing within the tissues of affected organs.This could also facilitate the migration of immune,progenitor and stem cells within the body to the site of inflammation.Of these different paracrine factors present within the secretome,researchers have given proper consideration to stromal cell-derived factor-1(SDF1)that plays a vital role in tissue-specific migration of the cells needed for regeneration.Recently researchers recognized that SDF1 could facilitate site-specific migration of cells by regulating SDF1-CXCR4 and/or HMGB1-SDF1-CXCR4 pathways which is vital for tissue regeneration.Hence in this study,we have attempted to describe the role of different types of cells within the body in facilitating regeneration while emphasizing the HMGB1-SDF1-CXCR4 pathway that orchestrates the migration of cells to the site where regeneration is needed.Nazmul Haque Ismail M Fareez Liew Fong Fong Chanchal Mandal Noor Hayaty Abu Kasim Kranthi RajaKacharaju Pratiwi Soesilawati 2020World Journal of Stem Cells2020,12,9:3
