4Detection and characterization of Chlamydophila psittaci in asymptomatic feral pigeons(Columba livia domestica) in central Thailand显示文摘Objective:To detect and characterize Chlamydophila psittaci(C.psittaci) in asymptomatic feral pigeons in central Thailand. Methods:A total 814 swabs from the trachea and cloacae of 407non-clinical feral pigeons in central Thailand were collected and tested for the presence of C.psittaci.Results:A 10.8%of feral pigeons in the sample group were positive as determined by nested PCR primer specific to C.psittaci.The outer membrane protein A(orupA) gene of positive samples exhibited amino acid identity of C.psittaci ranging from 71 to 100%and were grouped in genotype B.Exceptionally,BF1676-56 isolate was closely related to Chlamydia avium with99%identification of the I6 S ribosomal(r) RNA gene. Conclusions:This is the first report on C.psittaci isolated from asymptomatic feral pigeons in Thailand, which provides knowledge for the disease status in pigeon populations in Thailand.Ladawan Sariya Phirom Prompiram Siriporn Tangsudjai Kanaporn Poltep Tatiyanuch Chamsai Chalisa Mongkolphan Kamolphan Rattanavibul Verachai Sakdajivachareon 2015Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2015,8,2:1
5Magnetic bioassembly platforms towards the generation of extracellular vesicles from human salivary gland functional organoids for epithelial repair显示文摘Salivary glands(SG)are exocrine organs with secretory units commonly injured by radiotherapy.Bio-engineered organoids and extracellular vesicles(EV)are currently under investigation as potential strategies for SG repair.Herein,three-dimensional(3D)cultures of SG functional organoids(SGo)and human dental pulp stem cells(hDPSC)were generated by magnetic 3D bioassembly(M3DB)platforms.Fibroblast growth factor 10(FGF10)was used to enrich the SGo in secretory epithelial units. After 11 culture days via M3DB,SGo displayed SG-specific acinar epithelial units with functional properties upon neurostimulation. To consistently develop 3D hDPSC in vitro,3 culture days were sufficient to maintain hDPSC undifferentiated genotype and phenotype for EV generation.EV isolation was performed via sequential centrifugation of the conditioned media of hDPSC and SGo cultures.EV were characterized by nanoparticle tracking analysis, electron microscopy and immunoblotting.EV were in the exosome range for hDPSC(diameter:88.03±15.60 nm)and for SGo(123.15±63.06 nm).Upon ex vivo administration, exosomes derived from SGo significantly stimulated epithelial growth(up to 60%),mitosis,epithelial progenitors and neuronal growth in injured SG;however, such biological effects were less distinctive with the ones derived from hDPSC.Next, these exosome biological effects were investigated by proteomic arrays.Mass spectrometry profiling of SGo exosomes predicted that cellular growth, development and signaling was due to known and undocumented molecular targets downstream of FGF10.Semaphorins were identified as one of the novel targets requiring further investigations.Thus,M3DB platforms can generate exosomes with potential to ameliorate SG epithelial damage.Ajjima Chansaenroj Christabella Adine Sawanya Charoenlappanit Sittiruk Roytrakul Ladawan Sariya Thanaphum Osathanon Sasitorn Rungarunlert Ganokon Urkasemsin Risa Chaisuparat Supansa Yodmuang Glauco R.Souza Joao N.Ferreira 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,12:1

8Occurrence of Chlamydia spp.in wild birds in Thailand显示文摘Objective: To determine the occurrence of Chlamydia spp.in wild birds in Thailand. Methods: Cloacal and tracheal swabs of 313 wild birds from 11 orders, 27 families, and 51 species were tested to determine the occurrence of Chlamydia infection. The outer membrane protein A(ompA) gene was amplified from positive samples to construct a phylogenetic tree. Results: At the time of sample collection, none of the birds showed clinical signs of any disease.Of 313 wild birds, two Asian openbill stork(Anastomus oscitans) were positive for Chlamydia spp., representing 0.64%(2/313) and 4.9%(2/41) occurrence for birds overall and for the Asian openbill stork, respectively.Phylogram analysis based on deduced amino acid of the ompA gene showed that Chlamydia spp.in Asian openbill storks was closely related to that in wildfowl(Pica pica and Cygnus olor) from Poland in a different branch with a 95% bootstrap value and had a shorter evolutionary distance to Chlamydia abortus. Conclusions: Asymptomatic Asian openbill storks could be a potential source of Chlamydia infection in domestic animals, poultry, and humans who share their habitat.Suksai Parut Onket Rattanaporn Wiriyarat Witthawat Sangkachai Nareerat Lekcharoen Paisin Sariya Ladawan 2019Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2019,12,2:0
