4Ectopic expression of fungal EcGDH improves nitrogen assimilation and grain yield in rice显示文摘NADP(H)-dependent glutamate dehydrogenases(GDH) in lower organisms have stronger ammonium affinity than those in higher plants. Here we report that transgenic rice overexpressing the EcGDH from Eurotium cheralieri exhibited significantly enhanced aminating activities. 5Urban-rural disparities in mild cognitive impairment and its functional subtypes among community- dwelling older residents in central China显示文摘background Substantial variations in the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and its subtypes have been reported,although mostly in geographically defined developed countries and regions.Less is known about MCI and its subtypes in rural areas of less developed central China.Aims The study aimed to compare the prevalence of MCI and its subtypes in residents aged 65 years or older in urban and rural areas of Hubei Province,China.Methods Participants aged 65 years or older were recruited between 2018 and 2019.Inperson structured interviews and clinical and neuropsychological assessments were performed at city health community centres and township hospitals.results Among 2644 participants without dementia,735 had MCI,resulting in a prevalence of 27.8%for total MCI,20.9%for amnestic MCI(aMCI)and 6.9%for non-amnestic MCI(naMCI).The prevalence of MCI in urban and rural areas was 20.2%and 44.1%,respectively.After adjusting for demographic factors,the prevalence of total MCI,aMCI and naMCI differed significantly between rural and urban areas(adjusted odds ratio(OR)2.10,1.44 and 3.76,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed an association between rural socioeconomic and lifestyle disadvantage and MCI and its subtypes.Conclusions Our findings suggest that the prevalence of MCI among urban residents in central China is consistent with that in other metropolis areas,such as Shanghai,but the prevalence in rural areas is twice that in urban areas.Prospective studies and dementia prevention in China should focus on rural areas.Dan Liu Lin Li Lina An Guirong Cheng Cong Chen Mingjun Zou Bo Zhang Xuguang Gan Lang Xu Yangming Ou Qingming Wu Ru Wang Yan Zeng 2021General Psychiatry2021,34,5:3
6SARS-CoV-2 impairs the disassembly of stress granules and promotes ALS-associated amyloid aggregation显示文摘The nucleocapsid(N)protein of SARS-CoV-2 has been reported to have a high ability of liquid-liquid phase separation,which enables its incorporation into stress granules(SGs)of host cells.However,whether SG invasion by N protein occurs in the scenario of SARS-CoV-2 infection is unknow,neither do we know its con-sequence.Here,we used SARS-CoV-2 to infect mam-malian cells and observed the incorporation of N protein into SGs,which resulted in markedly impaired self-dis-assembly but stimulated cell cellular clearance of SGs.NMR experiments further showed that N protein binds to the SG-related amyloid proteins via non-specific tran-sient interactions,which not only expedites the phase transition of these proteins to aberrant amyloid aggre-gation in vitro,but also promotes the aggregation of FUS with ALS-associated P525L mutation in cells.In addition,we found that ACE2 is not necessary for the infection of SARS-CoV-2 to mammalian cells.Our work indicates that SARS-CoV-2 infection can impair the dis-assembly of host SGs and promote the aggregation of SG-related amyloid proteins,which may lead to an increased risk of neurodegeneration.Yichen Li Shuaiyao Lu Jinge Gu Wencheng Xia Shengnan Zhang Shenqing Zhang Yan Wang Chong Zhang Yunpeng Sun Jian Lei Cong Liu Zhaoming Su Juntao Yang Xiaozhong Peng Dan Li 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,8:1
7Remote Sensing-based Spatiotemporal Distribution of Grassland Aboveground Biomass and Its Response to Climate Change in the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region显示文摘The grassland in the Hindu Kush Himalayan(HKH) region is one of the large st and most biodiverse mountain grassland types in the world,and its ecosystem service functions have profound impacts on the sustainable development of the HKH region.Monitoring the spatiotemporal distribution of grassland aboveground biomass(AGB) accurately and quantifying its response to climate change are indispensable sources of information for sustainably managing grassland ecosystems in the HKH region.In this study,a pure vegetation index model(PVIM) was applied to estimate the long-term dynamics of grassland AGB in the HKH region during 2000-2018.We further quantified the response of grassland AGB to climate change(temperature and precipitation) by partial correlation and variance partitioning analyses and then compared their differences with elevation.Our results demonstrated that the grassland AGB predicted by the PVIM had a good linear relationship with the ground sampling data.The grassland AGB distribution pattern showed a decreasing trend from east to west across the HKH region except in the southern Himalayas.From 2000 to 2018,the mean AGB of the HKH region increased at a rate of 1.57 g/(m~2·yr) and ranged from 252.9(2000) to 307.8 g/m~2(2018).AGB had a positive correlation with precipitation in more than 80% of the grassland,and temperature was positively correlated with AGB in approximately half of the region.The change in grassland AGB was more responsive to the cumulative effect of annual precipitation,while it was more sensitive to the change in temperature in the growing season;in addition,the influence of climate varied at different elevations.Moreover,compared with that of temperature,the contribution of precipitation to grassland AGB change was greater in approximately 60% of the grassland,but the differences in the contribution for each climate factor were small between the two temporal scales at elevations over 2000 m.An accurate assessment of the temporal and spatial distributions of grassland AGB and the quantification of its response to climate change are of great significance for grassland management and sustainable development in the HKH region.XU Cong LIU Wenjun ZHAO Dan HAO Yanbin XIA Anquan YAN Nana ZENG Yuan 2022Chinese Geographical Science2022,32,5:1
8Effects of Mo on phase structure and up-conversion emissions of Er:Al_2O_3 nanocrystals显示文摘A simple and efficient approach was presented to enhance up-conversion emissions significantly for the Er:Al2O3 nanocrystals by Mo support (Er-Mo:Al2O3) with a 976 nm laser diode excitation. Mo support had evident effects on the phase structure and up-conversion emissions for the Er:Al2O3 nanocrystals, which promoted the -(Al,Er)2O3 transformed to -(Al,Er,Mo)2O3 phase. Compared with the Er:Al2O3, the maximal green and red up-conversion emissions intensities increased about 3×103 and 1.4×102 times for the Er-Mo:Al2O3 nanocrystals, respectively. taxa distributed in two phyla,seven classes,26 orders and 50 families which are described and illustrated.Taxa in this study were collected from Australia,Brazil,Burkina 12Anti-reflux effects of a novel esophagogastric asymmetric anastomosis technique after laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND Reflux esophagitis is a common postoperative complication of proximal gastrectomy.There is an urgent need for a safer method of performing esophageal-gastric anastomosis that reduces the risk of reflux after proximal gastrectomy.We hypothesize that a novel technique termed esophagogastric asymmetric anastomosis(EGAA)can prevent postoperative reflux in a safe and feasible manner.To observe a novel method of EGAA to prevent postoperative reflux.METHODS Initially,we employed a thermal stress computer to simulate and analyze gastric peristalsis at the site of an esophagogastric asymmetric anastomosis.This was done in order to better understand the anti-reflux function and mechanism.Next,we performed digestive tract reconstruction using the EGAA technique in 13 patients who had undergone laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy.Post-surgery,we monitored the structure and function of the reconstruction through imaging exams and gastroscopy.Finally,the patients were followed up to assess the efficacy of the anti-reflux effects.RESULTS Our simulation experiments have demonstrated that the clockwise contraction caused by gastric peristalsis and the expansion of the gastric fundus caused by the increase of intragastric pressure could significantly tighten the anastomotic stoma,providing a means to prevent the reverse flow of gastric fluids.Thirteen patients with esophagogastric junction tumors underwent laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy,with a mean operation time of 304.2±44.3 min.After the operation,the upper gastroenterography in supine/low head positions showed that eight patients exhibited no gastroesophageal reflux,three had mild reflux,and two had obvious reflux.The abdominal computed tomography examination showed a valve-like structure at the anastomosis.During followup,gastroscopy revealed a closed valve-like form at the anastomosis site without stenosis or signs of reflux esophagitis in 11 patients.Only two patients showed gastroesophageal reflux symptoms and mild reflux esophagitis and were treated with proton pump inhibitor therapy.CONCLUSION EGAA is a feasible and safe surgical method,with an excellent anti-reflux effect after proximal gastrectomy.Li-Qun Pang Jie Zhang Fang Shi Cong Pang Cheng-Wan Zhang Ye-Liu Liu Yao Zhao Yan Qian Xiang-Wei Li Dan Kong Shang-Nong Wu Jing-Fang Zhou Cong-Xue Xie Song Chen 2023World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2023,15,8:0
