| 1 | Particle-bound PCDD/Fs in the Atmosphere of an Electronic Waste Dismantling Area in China显示文摘Objective Particulate samples from the atmosphere in an electronic waste dismantling area were collected to investigate the levels and sources of polychlorinated dibenzo‐p‐dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs). Methods Particulate samples including total suspended particulates (TSP) and particulate matter <2.5 μm diameter (PM2.5) were collected on selected non‐rainy days in summer (Jul 10-12, 2006) and winter (Jan 11-13, 2007) from Fengjiang (FJ), an electronic waste (e‐waste) dismantling area in eastern China, and an adjacent area Luqiao (LQ). The samples were analyzed by isotope dilution ‐ high resolution gas chromatography / high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS). Results In FJ, the mean PCDD/F concentrations (mean TEQ values) were 280.6 pg Nm‐3 (3.432 pg WHO‐TEQ Nm‐3) for the TSP samples and 223.3 pg Nm‐3 (3.180 pg WHO‐TEQ Nm‐3) for the PM2.5 samples. The total PCDD/F concentrations and TEQs in the PM2.5 samples were about 66.8%‐108.0% of the TSP samples, indicating that the fine particles contained higher levels of PCDD/Fs than coarse particles. The PCDD/F levels in FJ were much higher than those detected in common urban areas around the world, suggesting that the study area was heavily polluted by PCDD/Fs. Furthermore, the total average daily PCDD/F intake in FJ was estimated at 62.11 pg WHO‐TEQ kg‐1·day‐1 for adults and 110.11 pg WHO‐TEQ kg‐1·day‐1 for children, which greatly exceeds the WHO (1998) tolerable daily intake of 1-4 pg of WHO‐TEQ kg‐1·day‐1. Conclusion The PCDD/F homologues and congener profiles confirmed that the PCDD/Fs in FJ originated from crude e‐waste recycling activities. The severe dioxin pollution present in FJ has also substantially influenced the adjacent area of LQ through atmospheric transport. Open burning of medical waste was another source of PCDD/Fs identified in LQ. | WEN Sheng GONG Yan LI JingGuang SHI TingMing ZHAO YunFeng WU YongNing | 2011 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,2: | 6 |
| 2 | Genipin improves lipid metabolism and sperm parameters in obese mice via regulation of miR-132 expression显示文摘Obesity has now surpassed malnutrition and infectious diseases as the most significant contributor to health problems worldwide. In particular, obesity is associated with several metabolic disorders, including hyperlipidemia, hepatic steatosis, and subfertility.Genipin(GNP),the aglycone of geniposide,is isolated from the extract of the traditional Chinese medicine Gardenia jasminoides Ellis and has been used in traditional oriental medicine against several inflammation-driven diseases. However, the effect and molecular mechanism of GNP on obesityassociated dyslipidemia and sperm dysfunction still need to be explored. In this study,we detect the effects of GNp on hyperlipidemia, hepatic lipid accumulation and sperm function using a high-fat diet(HFD)-induced obese mouse model. We find that obese mice treated with GNP show an improvement in body weight, serum triglyceride levels, serum hormone levels, serum inflammatory cytokines, hepatic steatosis and sperm function. At the molecular level,HFD/GNP diversely regulates the expression of miR-132 in a tissue-specific manner.miR-132 further targets and regulates the expression of SREBP-1c in liver cells,as well as the expressions of SREBP-1c and StAR in Leydig cells in the testis, thus modifying lipogenesis and steroidogenesis, respectively.Collectively, our data demonstrate that GNP shows a broad effect on the improvement of HFD-induced metabolic disorder and sperm dysfunction in male mice by tissue-specific regulation of miR-132.Our findings reveal the function GNP in ameliorating hepatic lipid metabolism and sperm function and suggest that this compound is a versatile drug to treat metabolic disorders. | Li Wangi Ge Chen Shuyao Wu YihuaXul Chenxi Guo Manman Wang Tingming Liang Zhigang Guo Hong-Jie Di Zhigang Hu | 2022 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,9: | 1 |
| 3 | Analysis of influencing factors of visual working memory in young adult patients with schizophrenia显示文摘Background Patients with schizophrenia have general cognitive impairments, and the impairment of working memory is considered to be the basis of cognitive impairments. The research on visual working memory, one of the subcomponents, is getting more and more attention. However, the influencing factors which cause the deficits of visual working memory in patients with schizophrenia have not been clearly explained. To provide evidence for cognitive impairment interventions, the present study explored the factors influencing the deficits of patients' visual working memory.Aim The present study discussed the relevant factors influencing the visual working memory of patients with schizophrenia by measuring the accuracy of the visual working memory of patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls. Methods Colour-recall paradigm was employed to measure the accuracy of the visual working memory of 61 healthy controls and 61 patients who met the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia. The age range of subjects was18-50. Scale for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms(SAPS) and Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms(SANS) were used to evaluate the patients' clinical symptoms. Results Compared with the healthy control group, the accuracy of visual working memory of patients with schizophrenia was significantly impaired(t=3.062,p=0.003). The accuracy of visual working memory of patients with schizophrenia was not related to age(r=0.023,p=0.860),the age of onset(r=-0.003,p=0.979),the duration of illness(r=-0.038, p=0.769),education level(r=-0.181, p=0.162),continuous working time before illness(r =-0.107, p=0.413) or the daily dose of antipsychotic drugs(r =0.062, p=0.635); however, it was positively related to the number of hospitalisations(r =0.471,p<0.001). The total score of Scale for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms(SAPS) was negatively related to the accuracy of visual working memory(r=-0.388, p=0.005), while the total score of Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms(SANS)(r=0.416,p=0.001), the total score of diminished emotional expressiveness(r =0.352, p=0.005) and the total score of attention disorder(r =0.310, p=0.015) were positively related to the accuracy of visual working memory. Patients using a single drug and those using multiple drugs were compared with each other. They were not significantly different in age(t=0.010, p=0.992), the number of hospitalisations(t=0.656, p=0.514), the duration of illness(t=0.701, p=0.486), the total score of SANS(t=0.078,p=0.938), the total score of SAPS(t=1.815, p=0.079) and the daily dose of antipsychotic drugs(t=1.794, p=0.078).However, in order to explore whether single or combined drug use would affect the accuracy of visual working memory of patients with schizophrenia, the present study also compared these two groups' different SO values of the accuracy of visual working memory. The results showed that the accuracy of visual working memory of patients with schizophrenia with combined drug use was significantly better than that of patients with single drug use(t=2.515, p=0.015, independent sample t-test).Conclusion The present study indicates that the visual working memory of young adult patients with schizophrenia is impaired compared with the healthy people within the same age range. The impairment is more obvious in patients who have multiple hospitalisations and suffer from severe negative symptoms. The impairment in patients with more severe positive symptoms is not very obvious. Combined drug use is likely to alleviate the impairment. | Li Zhang Xuemei Ran Ting Li Yixuan Ku Li Liu Tingming Huang Wenjia Yan | 2018 | General Psychiatry2018,31,6: | 1 |

| 5 | Microbial responses to the use of NaClO in sediment treatment显示文摘Chlorine is often used in algal removal and deodorization of landscape waters, and occasionally used as an emergency treatment of heavily polluted sediments. However, the ecological impact of this practice has not been fully studied and recognized. In this study,NaClO at 0.1 mmol/g based on dry weight sediment was evenly mixed into the polluted sediment, and then the sediment was incubated for 150 days to evaluate its microbial effect. Results showed that NaClO addition enhanced the release of TOC,TN,Cr and Cu from the sediment. The microbial richness in the examined sediment decreased continuously, and the Chao1 index declined from 4241 to 2731,in 150 days. The microbial community composition was also changed. The abundance of Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes increased to 54.8%and 4.2%within 7 days compared to the control, and linear discriminant analysis(LDA)showed gram-negative bacteria and aerobic bacteria enriched after chlorination. The functional prediction with PICRUSt2 showed the functions of the microbial community underwent major adjustments, and the metabolic-related functions such as carbon metabolism, including pyruvate and methane metabolisms were significantly inhibited;besides,15 out of 22 analyzed key enzymes involved in C cycling and 6 out of 12 key enzymes or genes involved in N cycling were strongly impacted, and the enzymes and genes involved in carbon degradation and denitrification showed remarkable downregulation. It can be concluded that chlorination posed a seriously adverse effect on microbial community structure and function. This study deepens the understanding of the ecological effects of applying chlorine for environmental remediation. | Kun Li Tingming Ye Wang Zhang Jianfeng Peng Yaohui Bai Weixiao Qi Huijuan Liu | 2022 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,2: | 0 |
