| 1 | GENETIC DIVERSITY AMONG CHINESE SIKA DEER (CERVUS NIPPON) POPULATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CHINESE AND JAPANESE SIKA DEER显示文摘Sika deer (Cervus nippon) is a cervid endemic to mainland and insular Asia and endan-gered. We analyzed variation in the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) control region for four subspecies to understand the genetic diversity, population structure and evolutionary history in China. 335 bp were se-quenced and eight haplotypes were identified based on 25 variable sites among the populations. Sika deer in China showed lower genetic diversity, sug-gesting a small effective population size due to habi-tat fragmentation, a low number of founder individu-als, or the narrow breeding program. AMOVA analy-sis indicated that there was significant genetic subdi-vision among the four populations, but no correlation between the genetic and geographic distance. Phy-logenetic analyses also revealed that Chinese sika deer may be divided into three genetic clades, but the genetic structure among Chinese populations was inconsistent with subspecies designations and pre-sent geographic distribution. | 2 | Spatial and Seasonal Variations of Nutrients in Sediment Profiles and Their Sediment-Water Fluxes in the Pearl River Estuary,Southern China显示文摘Three cruises were launched in the Pearl River Estuary(PRE)in 2005 to investigate the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients associated with early diagenesis related to degradation of organic matter.Seasonal and spatial variations of pore water nutrient concentrations and profile patterns in sediments were studied.Nutrient fluxes at the sediment-water interface(SWI)were measured by incubation experiments,and we here discussed the accumulation and transformation processes of nutrients at the SWI.The nutrients generally decreased from the Pearl River outlets downstream,indicating anthropogenic influences on the nutrient inputs in the estuary.NO3-N concentration was the highest of the three forms of DIN(dissolved inorganic nitrogen,the sum of NH4-N,NO3-N and NO2-N)in the overlying water,and NH4-N was the main component of DIN in pore water.The gradual increase of NH4-N and the rapid decrease of NO3-N with sediment depth provided the evidence for anaerobic conditions below the SWI.Negative fluxes of NO3-N and positive fluxes of NH4-N were commonly observed,suggesting the denitrification of NO3-N at the SWI.The DIN flux direction suggested that the sediment was the sink of DIN in spring,however,the sediment was generally the source of DIN in summer and winter.PO4-P distribution patterns were distinct while SiO4-Si inconspicuously varied in sediment profiles in different seasons.The flux results indicated that PO4-P mainly diffused from the water column to the sediment while SiO4-Si mainly diffused from the sediment to the water column.Generally,the incubated fluxes were the coupling of diffusion,bioturbation and biochemical reactions,and were relatively accurate in this study. | Ling Zhang Lu Wang Kedong Yin Ying Lü Yongqiang Yang Xiaoping Huang | 2014 | Journal of Earth Science2014，25，1： | 5 |
| 3 | Effects of rapid quenching on structure and cycle stability of La-Mg-Ni-Co type hydrogen storage alloy显示文摘In order to improve the cycle stability of La-Mg-Ni-Co type alloy electrode, rapid quenching technology was employed. The effects of rapid quenching on the microstructure and cycle stability of the alloy were investigated. The obtained results show that the La2Mg(Ni0.85Co0.15)9M0.1 (M=B, Cr) alloy electrodes are composed of (La, Mg)Ni3 phase, LaNi5 phase and a small amount of the LaNi2 phase. A trace of the Ni2B phase exists in the as-cast MB alloy, and the Ni2B phase in the alloy nearly disappears after rapid quenching. Rapid quenching technology can slightly improve the cycling life of the alloy. When the quenching rate increases from 0 m·s-1 (As-cast is defined as quenching rate of 0 m·s-1) to 30 m·s-1, the cycle lives of the MB, MCr alloys enhance from 86 and 87 cycles to 106 and 119 cycles, respectively. | 4 | Effects of cadmium,17 β-estradiol and their interaction in the male Chinese loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus)显示文摘To assess the interaction effect between cadmium (Cd) and 17-estradiol (E2),male Chinese loaches (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) were exposed to E2 (1 g/L) and Cd (50 or 500 g/L) alone and in combination using a semi-static waterborne exposure system.The effects of E2 on the accumulation and distribution of Cd,as well as the effects of Cd on vitellogenin (Vtg) synthesis induced by E2,were investigated.Cd mainly accumulated in the kidneys,liver,intestines,and gills,with little amounts in muscles,bones,and gonads.Co-exposure with E2 did not change the main targets for Cd.E2 could induce Vtg synthesis in male Chinese loaches,and co-exposure with 50 or 500 g/L Cd could inhibit the Vtg induced by 1 g/L E2.Compared with the results reported in the literature,it can be concluded that factors such as fish species,Cd dosage,and manner of exposure might make contributions to the interaction between Cd and E2.Our results also suggested that male Chinese loaches are susceptible to Cd,and can be recommended as a potential sentinel species to study the ecotoxicology of heavy metals. | LÜ XueFei LIU FeiYuan ZHOU XiaoPing ZHOU QunFang DENG YuLin | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012，57，8： | 3 |
