| 1 | Primary endoscopic stapedotomy using 3 mm nasal endoscope:Audiologic and clinical outcomes显示文摘Objective:To report the use of a 3 mm rigid nasal endoscope in primary endoscopic stapedotomy and clinical and audiological outcomes.Materials and methods:Thirty patients diagnosed with primary otosclerosis underwent endoscopic stapedotomy that was performed using a 3 mm nasal endoscope(Karl Storz).At 6 months follow-up,the patients were evaluated for intraoperative findings,postoperative hearing outcomes and complications.Results:Canaloplasty was performed in 2(6.66%)patients,and no curettage of the canal wall was required in 12(40%)patients.Transposition of the chorda tympani nerve was conducted in 11(36.66%)patients.The average duration of surgery was 36 min(range 31e65 min).The air-bone gap(ABG)was 35 dB(range 24e50 dB)preoperatively and 14.63 dB(range 9e20 dB)postoperatively(p?0.00).At 6 months follow-up,<20 dB ABG was achieved in 93.33%of the patients.No major intraoperative/postoperative complications were detected.Conclusion:A 3 mm rigid nasal endoscope can be effectively used in stapedotomy to obtain adequate audiological outcomes.It can be considered as a better alternative to the standard microscope or 4 mm endoscope in preserving the posterior canal wall and chorda tympani nerve while minimizing operative time without causing significant complications. | Pradeep Pradhan Chappity Preetam Pradipta kumar Parida | 2020 | Journal of Otology2020，15，4： | 2 |
| 2 | Screening and antibacterial efficacy of selected Indian medicinal plants显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the antibacterial efficacy of five Indian medicinal plants such as Acalypha indica L.(A. indica), Aerva lanata(L.) Juss. ex Schult.(A. lanata), Clerodendrum inerme(L.) Gaertn., Pergularia daemia(Forsk.) Chiov. and Solanum surattense Burm. f. against opportunistic bacterial pathogens isolated from HIV infected patients for the potential phytoconstituents in plant extracts.Methods: The opportunistic bacterial pathogens such as Escherichia coli(E. coli),Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and Serratia marcescens from Gramnegative group and Staphylococcus aureus from Gram-positive group were isolated from HIV infected patients. The antibacterial efficacy of ethanolic extracts of selected medicinal plants was carried out by disc diffusion method. The potential phytoconstituents of medicinal plant extracts were identified by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry(GC–MS) analysis.Results: Among the five medicinal plants tested, A. indica and A. lanata showed the significant antibacterial activity. A. indica showed potential activity against Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli. A. lanata significantly exhibited antibacterial activity against E. coli, Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A total of 19 phytoconstituents were identified in the ethanolic extract of A. indica and A. lanata by GC–MS analysis respectively.Conclusions: The results of the present investigation revealed that A. indica and A. lanata, possessed significant antibacterial activity when compared with the other plant extracts tested. | 7 | Hybrid IWD-DE:A Novel Approach to Model Cooperative Navigation Planning for Multi-robot in Unknown Dynamic Environment显示文摘The current study emphasizes inadequacies of earlier research findings on multi-robot navigation and offers a robust approach to guide the robots in an unknown dynamic workspace.To attain the objective,the Intelligent Water Drop(IWD)algorithm is combined with Differential Evolution(DE)in a new conceptual fashion to optimize the navigation path of multiple mobile robots.The hybrid IWD-DE,basic IWD and DE algorithms are then explored for multi-robot navigation in a dynamic workspace through simulation.The simulation outcomes demonstrate the competency of the proposed method to guide the robot in predicting the nature of the obstacle and to generate an optimal and safe trajectory in a dynamic workspace.The potency of the proposed algorithm is further validated through experimentation with fire bird robot in a real platform.The outcomes of the simulation and experimentation,by employing IWD-DE algorithm are compared with those of basic IWD and DE algorithm.The error estimated for Average Navigation Path Travelled(ANPT),Aggregate Navigation Path Deviation(ANPD)and number of turns between simulation and experimental results by employing IWD-DE is 8.96,9.09,and 11.13,respectively while reaching 16.43,28.61,29.15 for IWD,and 6.66,10.20,14.28 for DE.The efficiency of the proposed approach is further verified with the state-of-the-art in a dynamic workspace.The outcomes reveal the efficiency and flexibility of the proposed approach in resolving the multi-robot navigation problem as compared to the state-of-the-art in a dynamic workspace. | Degal Chandrasekhar Rao Manas Ranjan Kabat Pradipta Kumar Das Prabir Kumar Jena | 2019 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2019，16，2： | 1 |

| 9 | Comparing accuracy of cochlear measurements on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography:A step towards radiation-free cochlear implantation显示文摘Objective:Computed Tomography(CT)and Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)are commonly employed in pre-operative evaluation for cochlear implant surgery.However,with a decrease in the age of implantation,even minor radiation exposure can cause detrimental effects on children over their lifetime.The current study compares different cochlear measurements from CT and MRI scans and evaluates the feasibility of using only an MRI scan for radiological evaluation before cochlear implantation.Methods:A longitudinal observational study was conducted on 94 ears/47 children,employing CT and MRI scans.The CT and MRI scan measurements include,A value,B value,Cochlear duct length(CDL),twoturn cochlear length,alpha and beta angles to look for cochlear orientation.Cochlear nerve diameter was measured using MRI.The values were compared.Results:The mean difference between measurements from CT and MRI scans for A value,B value,CDL,and two-turn cochlear length values was 0.567±0.413 mm,0.406±0.368 mm,2.365±1.675 mm,and 2.063±1.477 mm respectively without any significant difference.The alpha and beta angle measures were comparable,with no statistically significant difference.Conclusion:The study suggests that MRI scans can be the only radiological investigation needed with no radiation risk and reduces the cost of cochlear implant program in the paediatric population.There is no significant difference between the measurements obtained from CT and MRI scans.However,observed discrepancies in cochlear measurements across different populations require regionally or race-specific standardized values to ensure accurate diagnosis and precision in cochlear implant surgery.This aspect must be addressed to ensure positive outcomes for patients. | Anurita Swarup Vinusree Karakkandy Preetam Chappity Suprava Naik Sanjay Kumar Behera Pradipta Kumar Parida Mohnish Grover Gaurav Gupta Prajna Paramita Giri Saurav Sarkar Pradeep Pradhan Dillip Kumar Samal Aswathi Kallyadan Veetil Asutosh Adhikari Saurav Nayak | 2023 | Journal of Otology2023，18，4： | 0 |
