| 1 | Two VOZ transcription factors link an E3 ligase and an NLR immune receptor to modulate immunity in rice显示文摘Nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat(NLR)proteins play critical roles in plant immunity.However,how NLRs are regulated and activate defense signaling is not fully understood.The rice(Oryza sativa)NLR receptor Piz-t confers broad-spectrum resistance to the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae and the RING-type E3 ligase AVRPIZ-T INTERACTING PROTEIN 10(APIP10)negatively regulates Piz-t accumulation.In this study,we found that APIP10 interacts with two rice transcription factors,VASCULAR PLANT ONEZINC FINGER 1(OsVOZ1)and OsVOZ2,and promotes their degradation through the 26S proteasome pathway.OsVOZ1 displays transcriptional repression activity while OsVOZ2 confers transcriptional activation activity in planta.The osvoz1 and osvoz2 single mutants display modest but opposite M.oryzae resistance in the non-Piz-t background.However,the osvoz1 osvoz2 double mutant exhibits strong dwarfism and cell death,and silencing of both genes via RNA interference also leads to dwarfism,mild cell death,and enhanced resistance to M.oryzae in the non-Piz-t background.Both OsVOZ1 and OsVOZ2 interact with Piz-t.Double silencing of OsVOZ1 and OsVOZ2 in the Piz-t background decreases Piz-t protein accumulation and transcription,reactive oxygen species-dependent cell death,and resistance to M.oryzae containing AvrPiz-t.Taken together,these results indicate that OsVOZ1 and OsVOZ2 negatively regulate basal defense but contribute positively to Piz-t-mediated immunity. | Jiyang Wang Ruyi Wang Hong Fang Chongyang Zhang Fan Zhang Zeyun Hao Xiaoman You Xuetao Shi Chan Ho Park Kangyu Hua Feng He Maria Bellizzi Kieu Thi Xuan Vo Jong-Seong Jeon Yuese Ning Guo-Liang Wang | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,2: | 8 |

| 3 | SENSITIVITY OF HURRICANE INTENSITY AND STRUCTURE TO TWO TYPES OF PLANETARY BOUNDARY LAYER PARAMETERIZATION SCHEMES IN IDEALIZED HWRF SIMULATIONS显示文摘This paper investigates the sensitivity of simulated hurricane intensity and structure to two planetary boundary layer(PBL) schemes in the Hurricane Weather and Research Forecast model including 1) the GFS scheme(control run) that uses the K-profile method to parameterize turbulent fluxes, and 2) the MYJ scheme that is based on turbulent kinetic energy(TKE) budget for turbulent closure. Idealized simulations with these two PBL schemes show that the storm in the TKE run is stronger than that in the control run after three days into simulation. Multi-scale structures are evaluated and compared between the control and the TKE runs prior to the divergence of the model-simulated intensity to elucidate the mechanism underlying such a difference in the intensity between the two runs. It is found that the storm in the TKE run has i) a shallower boundary layer with a stronger PBL inflow, ii) stronger boundary layer convergence closer to the storm center, iii) higher vorticity and inertial stability inside the RMW; iv) stronger and deeper updrafts in regions further inward from the radius of maximum wind(RMW), and v) more convective bursts located near the RMW as compared to the control run. | 4 | SFRP5 inhibits melanin synthesis of melanocytes in vitiligo by suppressing the Wnt/b-catenin signaling显示文摘Secreted frizzled-related protein 5(SFRP5)plays a pivotal role in regulating the development of many tissues and organs,however,as an inhibitor of Wnt signaling,the role of SFRP5 in vitiligo remains unknown.Hence,we speculated that SFRP5 might be associated with melanogenesis in melanocytes by regulating Wnt signaling in vitiligo.In this study,we found that SFRP5 was overexpressed in the skin lesions of patients with vitiligo.Compared with that in normal epidermal melanocytes(PIG1),the expression of SFRP5 was increased in vitiligo melanocytes(PIG3V).To investigate the effect of SFRP5 on melanin synthesis,PIG1 cells were infected with recombinant SFRP5 adenovirus(AdSFRP5),and PIG3V cells were infected with recombinant siSFRP5 adenovirus(AdsiSFRP5).The results showed that SFRP5 overexpression inhibited melanin synthesis in PIG1 cells through downregulation of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF)and its target proteins via suppression of the Wnt/b-catenin signaling pathway.Accordingly,SFRP5 silencing increased melanin synthesis and activated the Wnt signaling pathway in PIG3V cells.Moreover,SFRP5 overexpression also downregulated the transcriptional activity of T cell factor/lymphoid enhancer factor(TCF/LEF)in PIG1 cells.Furthermore,this inhibitory effect of SFRP5 on melanin synthesis was reversed by treatment with the b-catenin agonist,SKL2001.The inhibitory action of SFRP5 in pigmentation was further confirmed in vivo using a nude mouse model.Hence,our results indicate that SFRP5 can inhibit melanogenesis in melanocytes.Additionally,our findings showed that SFRP5 plays a vital role in the development of vitiligo,and thus may serve as a potential therapeutic target for vitiligo. | Daopei Zou Yangmei Chen Lingzhao Zhang Xiaohui Yuan Yujie Zhang Adelina Inggawati Pham Thi Kieu Nguyet Tianwen Gao Jin Chen | 2021 | Genes & Diseases2021,8,5: | 2 |
| 5 | 不同天气条件下青头潜鸭越冬期行为的响应模式显示文摘2018年11—12月在河南民权国家湿地公园,采用定点观察法、扫描取样法对越冬青头潜鸭在不同天气条件下的行为响应模式进行研究。结果表明:在晴天,静息、飞行、运动是青头潜鸭越冬期的优势行为(65.5%),觅食、修整是次要行为(31.9%);行为节律表现为上午觅食、中午静息、下午觅食修整;飞行通常发生在觅食高峰前,运动行为多与其他行为相伴,其时间分配与觅食呈正响应,与静息呈负响应。相较于晴天,阴雨天青头潜鸭增加了对静息和觅食的时间分配,静息、觅食和运动为阴雨天的主要行为(76.5%),修整、飞行为次要行为(20.3%);觅食和静息的高峰时段后移,傍晚时达到高峰,飞行和修整时间显著减少。与晴天相比,雾霭天青头潜鸭静息、觅食、运动和修整的时间分配增加,飞行行为减少;觅食高峰后移至中午和下午,静息高峰后移至下午;静息、运动和觅食为雾霭天的优势行为(70.6%),修整和飞行为次要行为(27.5%)。研究表明,不同天气条件下,民权湿地公园青头潜鸭的越冬期行为在时间分配、行为节律、优势行为方面存在一定的响应;阴雨天和雾霭天青头潜鸭会分配更多的静息和觅食时间,并通过增加能量摄入和减少耗能行为应对恶劣天气。 | 李浙 张琦 吴庆明 高晓冬 Ngo Thi Kieu Trang 徐卓 | 2022 | 应用生态学报2022,33,9: | 2 |
| 6 | REAL-TIME FORECASTS OF TYPHOON RAPID INTENSIFICATION IN THE NORTH WESTERN PACIFIC BASIN WITH THE NCEP OPERATIONAL HWRF MODEL显示文摘This study presents the real-time performance of the United States(US) National Centers for Environmental Prediction(NCEP) operational Hurricane Weather Research and Forecast(HWRF) model in predicting rapid intensification(RI) of typhoons in the North Western Pacific(WPAC) basin in 2013. Examination of all RI cases in WPAC during 2013 shows that the HWRF model captures a consistent vortex structure at the onset of all RI as seen in previous idealized studies with HWRF. However, HWRF has issues with predicting RI when the model vortex is initialized with intensity greater than hurricane strength. Further verification of the probability of detection(POD) and the false alarm rate(FAR) of RI forecasts shows that the HWRF model outperforms all other models used by the US Navy’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center, possessing highest POD and lowest FAR in 2013. Examination of the intensity change forecasts at different forecast lead times also confirms that the HWRF model has superior performance, particularly at the 72-h lead time with the POD index ~0.91 and the FAR index ~0.33.
