| 1 | Synthesis of silver nanoparticles using leaves of Catharanthus roseus Linn.G.Don and their antiplasmodial activities显示文摘Objective:To develop a novel approach for the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using aqueous leaves extracts of Catharanthus roseus(C.roseus) Linn.G.Don which has been proven aclive against malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum(P.falciparum).Methods:Characterizations were determined by using ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis) spectrophotometry,scanning electron microscopy(SEM).energy dispersive X-ray and X-ray diffraction.Results:SLM showed the formation of silver nanoparticles with an average size of 35-55 nm.X-ray diffraction analysts showed that the particles were crystalline in nature with face centred cubic structure of the hulk silver with the broad peaks at 32.4.46.4 and 28.0.Conclusions:It can be concluded that the leaves of C.roseus can he good source for synthesis of silver nanoparticle which shows aiitiplasmodial activity against P.falciparum.The important outcome of the study will he the development of value added products from medicinal plants C.roseus lor hionicdical and nanotechnology based industries. | Ponarulselvam S Panneerselvam C Murugan K Aarthi N Kalimuthu K Thangamani S | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,7: | 8 |

| 4 | Mechanical Property and Morphological Analysis of Polyester Composites Reinforced with Cyperuspangorei Fibers显示文摘In the present work,polyester composites reinforced with a newly identified Cyperus pangorei fiber(CPF)were developed by compression moulding technique.The effects of varying fiber content and fiber length on the mechanical properties of the Cyperus pangorei fiber reinforced polyester composites(CPFCs)such as tensile,flexural,and impact properties were studied.Mechanical strength of the CPFCs increased with fiber length up to 40 mm beyond which a reverse trend was observed.Based on the test results,it was concluded that the critical fiber length and the optimum fiber weight percentage were 40 mm and 40 wt%respectively.The maximum increase of 164%and 117%were found for the tensile and flexural strength of the composite with 40 mm fiber length and 40 wt%fiber content,respectively.On the other hand,a 64%increase in impact strength was noticed for the optimum case.The increasing contact surface between the fiber and the polyester matrix in optimum condition can restrict the probability of fiber pullout and in turn can make the composite carry more load.The chemical structure of CPF was also analyzed using Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR)spectrum.The morphological analysis of fractured samples was performed using Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)to understand the interfacial bonding between CPFs and polyester matrix.The optimal composite can be a suitable alternative in the field of structural applications in construction and automobile industries. | Mayandi Kalimuthu Rajini Nagarajan Alavudeen Azeez Batcha Suchart Siengchin Varada Rajulu Anumakonda Nadir Ayrilmis | 2019 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,1: | 2 |
| 5 | Paddy Leaf Disease Detection Using an Optimized Deep Neural Network显示文摘Precision Agriculture is a concept of farm management which makes use of IoT and networking concepts to improve the crop.Plant diseases are one of the underlying causes in the decrease in the number of quantity and quality of the farming crops.Recognition of diseases from the plant images is an active research topic which makes use of machine learning(ML)approaches.A novel deep neural network(DNN)classification model is proposed for the identification of paddy leaf disease using plant image data.Classification errors were minimized by optimizing weights and biases in the DNN model using a crow search algorithm(CSA)during both the standard pre-training and fine-tuning processes.This DNN-CSA architecture enables the use of simplistic statistical learning techniques with a decreased computational workload,ensuring high classification accuracy.Paddy leaf images were first preprocessed,and the areas indicative of disease were initially extracted using a k-means clustering method.Thresholding was then applied to eliminate regions not indicative of disease.Next,a set of features were extracted from the previously isolated diseased regions.Finally,the classification accuracy and efficiency of the proposed DNN-CSA model were verified experimentally and shown to be superior to a support vector machine with multiple cross-fold validations. | Shankaranarayanan Nalini Nagappan Krishnaraj Thangaiyan Jayasankar Kalimuthu Vinothkumar Antony Sagai Francis Britto Kamalraj Subramaniam Chokkaligam Bharatiraja | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,7: | 2 |

| 7 | From traditional serrated adenoma to tubulovillous adenoma and beyond显示文摘It is well established that colorectal cancer develops from a series of precursor epithelial polyps, including tubular adenomas, villous/tubulovillous adenomas(VA/TVA), sessile serrated adenomas(SSA) and traditional serrated adenomas(TSA). Of these, TSAs are least common and account for only 5% of all serrated polyps. TSAs are characterised by the presence of a 'pinecone-like' architecture, granular eosinophilic cytoplasm, luminal serrations, ectopic crypt foci(ECF) and elongated, pencillate nuclei. However, the distinct slit-like luminal serrations, reminiscent of small bowel mucosa, appear to be the most unique and reproducible feature to distinguish TSAs from other polyps. There is a contention that TSAs are not inherently dysplastic and that the majority do not show cytological atypia. Two types of dysplasia are associated with TSA. Serrated dysplasia is less well recognised and less commonly encountered than adenomatous dysplasia. In addition, it is now becoming increasingly evident that TSAs can be admixed with HP, SSA and VA/TVA. At a genetic level, polyps may switch phenotype as they accumulate genetic changes, evolving from a serrated pathway to a more conventional one, which could be the basis for a spectrum theory starting out with a TSA with serration and ECF evolving into a TSA with conventional dysplasia and, eventually, to a well-developed conventional adenoma.
