1Basic fibroblast growth factor protects against influenza A virus-induced acute lung injury by recruiting neutrophils显示文摘Influenza virus (IAV)infection is a major cause of severe respiratory illness that affects almost every country in the world.IAV infections result in respiratory illness and even acute lung injury and death,but the underlying mechanisms responsible for IAV pathogenesis have not yet been fully elucidated.In this study,the basic fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2)level was markedly increased in H1N1 virus-infected humans and mice.FGF2,which is predominately derived from epithelial cells,recruits and activates neutrophils via the FGFR2-PI3K-AKT-NFKB signaling pathway.FGF2 depletion or knockout exacerbated influenzaassociated disease by impairing neutrophil recruitment and activation.More importantly,administration of the recombinant FGF2 protein significantly aUeviated the severity of IAV-induced lung injury and promoted the survival of IAV-infected mice.Based on the results from experiments in which neutrophils were depleted and adoptively transferred,FGF2 protected mice against IAV , infection by recruiting neutrophils.Thus,FGF2 plays a critical role in preventing IAV-induced lung injury,and FGF2 is a promising potential therapeutic target during IAV infection.Keyu Wang Chengcai Lai Tieling Li Cheng Wang Wei Wang Bing Ni Changqing Bai Shaogeng Zhang Lina Han Hongjing Gu Zhongpeng Zhao Yueqiang Duan Xiaolan Yang Li Xing Lingna Zhao Shanshan Zhou Min Xia Chengyu Jiang Xiliang Wang Penghui Yang 2018Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2018,10,6:3
2Depletion of VPS35 attenuates metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma by restraining the Wnt/PCP signaling pathway显示文摘Vesicle Protein Sorting 35(VPS35)is a novel oncogene that promotes tumor growth through the PI3K/AKT signaling in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,the role of VPS35 in HCC metastasis and the underlying mechanisms remain largely unclear.In this study,we observed that overexpression of VPS35 enhanced hepatoma cell invasion and metastasis by inducing epithelialemesenchymal transition(EMT)-related gene expression.Conversely,knockout of VPS35 significantly inhibited hepatoma cell migration and invasion.Furthermore,depletion of VPS35 decreased the lung metastasis of HCC in nude mice.By transcriptome analysis,we determined that VPS35 promoted HCC metastasis by activating the Wnt/non-canonical planar cell polarity(PCP)pathway.Mechanistically,VPS35 activated the PCP pathway by regulating membrane sorting and trafficking of Frizzled-2(FZD2)and ROR1 in hepatoma cells.Collectively,our results indicate that VPS35 promotes HCC metastasis via enhancing the Wnt/PCP signaling,thus providing a potential prognostic marker and therapeutic target for HCC.Yi Liu Haijun Deng Li Liang Guiji Zhang Jie Xia Keyue Ding Ni Tang Kai Wang 2021Genes & Diseases2021,8,2:2
3Decoupling of Carbon Emissions from Economic Growth: An Empirical Analysis Based on 264 Prefecture-Level Cities in China显示文摘After setting the goal of peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060,it has become an irresistible trend for China to decouple carbon emissions from its economic growth.Since cities play a central role in reducing carbon emissions,the issues such as whether and when their carbon dioxide emissions can be decoupled from economic growth have become the focus of attention.Based on the carbon dioxide emissions of 264 prefecture-level cities in China from 2000 to 2017,this paper uses the Tapio decoupling index to measure the decoupling relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth of cities,analyzes the space–time evolution characteristics of carbon emissions and decoupling indexes by stages,and explores the relationship between carbon emissions and socio-economic development characteristics such as per capita GDP and industrial structure.The main conclusions drawn therefrom are as follows:(i)From 2000 to 2017,the city-wide carbon emissions rose from 2.484 billion tons in 2000 to 7.462 billion tons in 2017,registering a total increase of 200.40%.But the growth rate of carbon emissions within cities has been significantly reduced.(ii)As years passed by,the number of cities that achieved strong decoupling saw a significant increase,from zero in the 10th–11th Five-Year Plan period to 14 in the 12th Five-Year Plan period and the first two years of the 13th Five-Year Plan period,accounting for 5.3%of the total number of cities.(iii)There is an inverted U-shaped curve relationship between per capita carbon emissions and per capita GDP,which is consistent with the EKC curve hypothesis,but Chinese cities are still in the growth stage of the quadratic curve currently.The correlation between per capita CO_(2) emission and the proportion of the secondary industry was positive.The results of this study are expected to provide experience for the low-carbon development of cities in China and other developing countries,and provide references for the formulation and evaluation of policies and measures related to low-carbon economic development based on the decoupling model.KANG Wenmei LIANG Benfan XIA Keyu XUE Fei LI Yu 2021Chinese Journal of Urban and Environmental Studies2021,9,3:0
4Broad-intensity-range optical nonreciprocity based on feedback-induced Kerr nonlinearity显示文摘Nonreciprocal light propagation plays an important role in modern optical systems,from photonic networks to integrated photonics. We propose a nonreciprocal system based on a resonance-frequency-tunable cavity and intensity-adaptive feedback control. Because the feedback-induced Kerr nonlinearity in the cavity is dependent on the incident direction of light,the system exhibits nonreciprocal transmission with a transmission contrast of 0.99 and an insertion loss of 1.5 dB. By utilizing intensity-adaptive feedback control,the operating intensity range of the nonreciprocal system is broadened to 20 dB,which relaxes the limitation of the operating intensity range for nonlinear nonreciprocal systems.
