1Targeting PI3K/AKT signaling for treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis显示文摘Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF) is a chronic progressive fibrotic interstitial pneumonia with unknown causes. The incidence rate increases year by year and the prognosis is poor without cure.Recently, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3 K)/protein kinase B(PKB/AKT) signaling pathway can be considered as a master regulator for IPF. The contribution of the PI3 K/AKT in fibrotic processes is increasingly prominent, with PI3 K/AKT inhibitors currently under clinical evaluation in IPF. Therefore,PI3 K/AKT represents a critical signaling node during fibrogenesis with potential implications for the development of novel anti-fibrotic strategies. This review epitomizes the progress that is being made in understanding the complex interpretation of the cause of IPF, and demonstrates that PI3 K/AKT can directly participate to the greatest extent in the formation of IPF or cooperate with other pathways to promote the development of fibrosis. 2First identification of kdr allele F1534S in VGSC gene and its association with resistance to pyrethroid insecticides in Aedes albopictus populations from Haikou City,Hainan Island,China显示文摘Background:Aedes albopictus is distributed widely in China,as a primary vector of Dengue fever and Chikungunya fever in south of China.Chemical insecticide control is one of the integrated programmes to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.Long-term applications of pyrethroids have resulted in the development of resistance in Ae.albopictus populations in China.However,the susceptibility of Ae.albopictus to pyrethroids in Hainan Island was unclear.Knockdown resistance(kdr),caused by point mutations in the VGSC gene,is one of the mechanisms that confer resistance to DDT and pyrethroids.This study was to investigate the resistance level of Ae.albopictus populations in Haikou City to three pyrethroid insecticides,and elucidate the relationship between the resistant phenotype and kdr mutations.Methods:The Aedes albopictus samples were collected in Xinbu Island(XI),Longtang Town(LT),Shishan Town(ST),Baishamen Park(BP),and Flower Market(FM)from Haikou City,Hainan Island,China.The larval susceptibility to deltamethrin,permethrin and beta-cypermethrin was tested by larval bioassays,and adult susceptibility to deltamethrin and DDT was determined by adult bioassays.The degree of resistance was determined by resistance ratio value(RR50>3)for larvae and by mortality for adult.The kdr alleles at codon 1534 of the VGSC gene were genotyped.The relationship between kdr genotypes and resistant phenotypes was analyzed by Chi-square test.Results:Out of five populations,assessed by larval bioassays,XI was susceptible to deltamethrin and permethrin;LT was susceptible to permethrin and beta-cypermethrin;and ST was susceptible to permithrin.FM and BP both were resistant to all of the three pyrethroids,and FM showed the highest degree of resistance,with RR50 values from 65.17 to 436.36.A total of 493 individuals from the larval bioassays were genotyped for kdr alleles.Five alleles were detected,including two wildtype alleles,TTC(F)(67.04%)and TTT(F)(0.41%),and three mutant alleles,TGC(C)(0.30%),TCC(S)(31.54%)and TTG(L)(0.71%).There was a clear correlation between mutant alleles(or F1534S)and resistant phenotypes(P<0.01).Conclusion:Two novel kdr mutant alleles F1534S and F1534L were detected in the pyrethroid resistant populations of Ae.albopictus in Haikou Hainan,China.For the first time,the mutant F1534S was associated with pyrethroid resistance in Ae.albopictus.Huiying Chen Kaili Li Xiaohua Wang Xinyan Yang Yi Lin Fang Cai Wenbin Zhong Chunyan Lin Zhongling Lin Yajun Ma 2016Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1:19
3A Novel 3D Non-Stationary UAV-MIMO Channel Model and Its Statistical Properties显示文摘The wireless communication systems based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs) have found a wide range of applications recently. In this paper, we propose a new three-dimensional(3 D) non-stationary multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) channel model for the communication links between the UAV and mobile terminal(MT). The new model originates the traditional geometry-based stochastic models(GBSMs) but considers the non-stationary propagation environment due to the rapid movements of the UAV, MT, and clusters. Meanwhile, the upgrade time evolving algorithms of time-variant channel parameters, i.e., the path number based on birth-death processes of clusters, path delays, path powers, and angles of arrival and departure, are developed and optimized. In addition, the statistical properties of proposed GBSM including autocorrelation function(ACF), cross-correlation function(CCF), and Doppler power spectrum density(DPSD) are investigated and analyzed. 4Pterygium in Aged Population in Doumen County, China显示文摘Purpose:To estimate the prevalence of pterygium and its influence on visual acuity in aged population of Doumen County,southern China.Methods:A population-based survey was conducted in Doumen County,the rural area of southern China,twenty-seven sample units were selected by random sampling.The prevalence and severity of pterygium and it-related low visual acuity were analyzed.Results:Of the total 4762 individuals aged 50 years or over,4214 were examined.The prevalence of pterygium was 33.01% in subjects aged 50 years or above.There was a significantly higher prevalence in female(35.70%)than in male(29.70%,P=0.025).The prevalence of pterygium in age groups of 50s,60s,70s and 80s years old is 33.98%,36.40%,30.73% and 25.40%,respectively.Most of the pterygia were located in the nasal side(93.31%)of cornea,and only 6.69% in the temporal side.0.92% of the eyes had visual acuity less than 0.32,which were directly caused by pterygia.Conclusion:The current survey suggests that the pterygium is one of the most common diseases of external eye in th population ged 50 years and above.It is still leading to the impairment of visual acuity in the rural area.Kaili Wu, Mingguang He, Jingjing Xu, Shaozhen LiZhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510060, China 2002眼科学报2002,18,3:18

11Remodeling the blood–brain barrier microenvironment by natural products for brain tumor therapy显示文摘Brain tumor incidence shows an upward trend in recent years; brain tumors account for 5% of adult tumors, while in children, this figure has increased to 70%. Moreover, 20%–30% of malignant tumors will eventually metastasize into the brain. Both benign and malignant tumors can cause an increase in intracranial pressure and brain tissue compression, leading to central nervous system(CNS) damage which endangers the patients' lives. Despite the many approaches to treating brain tumors and the progress that has been made, only modest gains in survival time of brain tumor patients have been achieved. At present, chemotherapy is the treatment of choice for many cancers, but the special structure of the blood–brain barrier(BBB) limits most chemotherapeutic agents from passing through the BBB and penetrating into tumors in the brain. The BBB microenvironment contains numerous cell types, including endothelial cells, astrocytes, peripheral cells and microglia, and extracellular matrix(ECM). Many chemical components of natural products are reported to regulate the BBB microenvironment near brain tumors and assist in their treatment. 13Studies on Production of Biodiesel by Esterification of Fatty Acids by a Lipase Preparation from Candida sp. 99-125显示文摘A self-made lipase preparation from Candida sp. 99-125 was used for the production of biodiesel through enzymatic esterification of fatty acids. The crude lipase powder and fermentation broth were immobilized on a cheap fiber cloth carrier. The conditions of lipase-catalyzed esterification between long-chain fatty acids and methanol in a solvent system were investigated in detail, including the temperature, pH value, substrate concentration, solvent, absorbent agent, enzyme dosage and purity, immobilization method, the mode of addition of substrate. The results show that reaction temperature, pH of lipase micro-environment, substrate concentration, enzyme dosage and purity affect the esterification strongly. Several new methods and enzymatic procedures for improving the enzymatic reaction involving the process cost are also discussed, such as fossil diesel fuel as reaction solvent, immobilization method, multi-step gradient addition of methanol. The esterification degree of 92.8% was obtained with oleic acid and methanol under the optimal reaction condition after 12.5 h reaction time. 14Diabetes inhibits corneal epithelial cell migration and tight junction formation in mice and human via increasing ROS and impairing Akt signaling显示文摘Corneal wounds usually heal quickly;but diabetic patients have more fragile corneas and experience delayed and painful healing. In the present study, we compared the healing capacity of corneal epithelial cells (CECs) between normal and diabetic conditions and the potential mechanisms. Primary murine CEC derived from wild-type and diabetic (db/db) mice, as well as primary human CEC were prepared. Human CEC were exposed to high glucose (30 mM) to mimic diabetic conditions. Cell migration and proliferation were assessed using Scratch test and MTT assays, respectively. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in the cells was measured using dichlorofluorescein reagent. Western blot was used to evaluate the expression levels of Akt. Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) expression were used to determine tight junction integrity. We found that the diabetic CEC displayed significantly slower cell proliferation and migration compared with the normal CEC from both mice and humans. Furthermore, ROS production was markedly increased in CEC grown under diabetic conditions. Treatment with an antioxidant N-acetyl cysteine (NAC, 100 μM) significantly decreased ROS production and increased wound healing in diabetic CEC. Barrier function was significantly reduced in both diabetic mouse and human CEC, while NAC treatment mitigated these effects. We further showed that Akt signaling was impaired in diabetic CEC, which was partially improved by NAC treatment. These results show that diabetic conditions lead to delayed wound-healing capacity of CEC and impaired tight junction formation in both mice and human. 16Highly conductive dodecaborate/MXene composites for high performance supercapacitors显示文摘With the increasingly prominent energy and environmental issues,the supercapacitors,as a highly efficient and clean energy conversion and storage devices,meet the requirements well.However,it is still a challenge to enhance the capacitance and energy density of supercapacitors.A novel and highly conductive dodecaborate/MXene composites have been designed for high performance supercapacitors.The surface charge property of MXene was modified by a simple ultrasonic treatment with ammonium ion,and the dodecaborate ion can be inserted into the inner surface of MXene by electrostatic adsorption.Due to the unique icosahedral cage conjugate structure formed by the B-B bond and the highly delocalized three-dimensionalπbond structure of the electrons,the negative charge is delocalied on the whole dodecaborate ion,which reduces the ability to bind to cations.Therefore,the cations can move easily,and the dodecaborate can act as a“lubricant”for ion diffusion between the MXene layers,which significantly improves the ion transfer rate of supercapacitors.The dodecaborate/MXene composites can achieve an extremely high specific capacitance of 366 F.g^-1 at a scan rate of 2 mV.s^-1,which is more than eight times higher than that of MXene(43 F1-)at the same scan rate.Our finding provides a novel route on the fabrication of the high performance supercapacitors.Zhenxing Li Chang Ma Yangyang Wen Zhiting Wei Xiaofei Xing Junmei Chu Chengcheng Yu Kaili Wang Zhao-Kui Wang 2020Nano Research2020,13,1:7

18Geochemistry and genesis of authigenic pyrite from gas hydrate accumulation system in the Qilian Mountain permafrost, Qinghai, northwest China显示文摘A type of authigenic pyrites that fully fill or semi-fill the rock fractures of drillholes with gas hydrate anomalies are found in the Qilian Mountain permafrost; this type of pyrite is known as 'fracture-filling' pyrite. The occurrence of 'fracture-filling' pyrite has a certain similarity with that of the hydrate found in this region, and the pyrite is generally concentrated in the lower part of the hydrate layer or the hydrate anomaly layer. The morphology, trace elements, rare earth elements, and sulfur isotope analyses of samples from drillhole DK-6 indicate that the 'fracture-filling' pyrites are dominated by cubic ones mainly aligned in a step-like fashion along the surfaces of rock fractures and are associated with a circular structure, lower Co/Ni and Sr/Ba, lower ?REE, higher LREE, significant Eu negative anomalies, and ? 34 SCDT positive bias. In terms of the pyrites' unique crystal morphology and geochemical characteristics and their relationship with the hydrate layers or abnormal layers, they are closely related with the accumulation system of the gas hydrate in the Qilian Mountain permafrost. As climate change is an important factor in affecting the stability of the gas hydrate, formation of fracture-filling pyrites is most likely closely related to the secondary change of the metastable gas hydrate under the regional climate warming. The distribution intensity of these pyrites indicates that when the gas hydrate stability zone(GHSZ) is narrowing, the hydrate decomposition at the bottom of the GHSZ is stronger than that at the top of the GHSZ, whereas the hydrate decomposition within the GHSZ is relatively weak. 193D-printed surface promoting osteogenic differentiation and angiogenetic factor expression of BMSCs on Ti6Al4V implants and early osseointegration in vivo显示文摘Three-dimensional-printed(3 D-P) titanium implants display many advantages, such as design flexibility,higher efficiency, the capability to easily construct complex or customized structures, etc., and is believed to potentially replace traditional implants. However, the biological performance of the 3 D-P titanium surface has not been investigated systematically. Herein, we analyzed the surface characteristics of 3 D-P Ti6 Al4 V implants and evaluated the biological responses of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs) to the 3 D-P surface in vitro. Moreover, after implantation into the rat femoral condyle for3 and 6 weeks, the osseointegration performance was evaluated. The results showed the 3 D-P Ti6 Al4 V implant presented distinct fluctuant macroscale rough surface and relatively better hydrophilicity which enhanced the adhesion, proliferation, osteogenic differentiation and angiogenetic factor expression of BMSCs. Moreover, the in vivo osseointegration performance was also better than that of the control group at the early stage. 20Efficient catalytic conversion of carbohydrates into 5-ethoxymethylfurfural over MIL-101-based sulfated porous coordination polymers显示文摘In this work, a series of MIL-101-SO3H(x) polymeric materials were prepared and further used for the first time as efficient heterogeneous catalysts for the conversion of fructose-based carbohydrates into 5-ethoxymethylfurfural(EMF) in a renewable mixed solvent system consisting of ethanol and tetrahydrofuran(THF). The influence of –SO3H content on the acidity as well as on the catalytic activity of the porous coordination polymers in EMF production was also studied. High EMF yields of 67.7% and 54.2% could be successively obtained from fructose and inulin in the presence of MIL-101-SO_3H(100) at 130 °C for 15 h.The catalyst could be reused for five times without significant loss of its activity and the recovery process was facile and simple.
