1Investigation of tuberculosis clusters in Dehradun city of India显示文摘Objective:To investigate the presence of statistically significant geographical clusters of tuberculosis(TB) using Geographical Information System and spatial scan statistics in Dehradun, India. Methods:The spatial scan statistic implemented with a software program,SaTScan v6.1, was used to test the presence of statistically significant spatial clusters of TB and to identify their approximate locations(P<0.05 for primary clusters and P<0.1 for secondary clusters). Geographical Information System was used for geographical analysis. Results:Significant high rate spatial clusters were identified in seven wards of the Dehradun Municipal area. Conclusions:There is sufficient evidence about the existence of statistically significant TB clusters in seven wards of Dehradun,India. The purely spatial scan statistics methodology used in this study has a potential use in surveillance of TB for detecting the true clusters of the disease.Neeraj Tiwari Vineeta Kandpal Ajoy Tewari K.Ram Mohan Rao Tolia VS 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,6:3
2Event-driven flood management:design and computational modules显示文摘Flood management is a set of activities that have to be carried out in collaboration with multiple agencies.Advanced flood information with early warning generated using remote sensing satellite technologies can help the agencies to effectively manage the situation on ground.Various environmental parameters and forecasts provided by different agencies can be analyzed and compared with historical flood events for generating probable flood event alerts. The information(environmental parameters)provided by the agencies are heterogeneous and noncompliant to standards and distributed in nature.Synchronization of data from distributed resources and automation of data analysis process for flood management is a primary prerequisite for faster and efficient decision-making.Web 2.0-based web services enable data creation, sharing, communication, and collaboration on web.Spatial data sharing on web 2.0 for making quality of service using open-source software for efficient flood management is a challenge.Available software architectures proposed for risk and environmental crisis management are too generic in nature and needs lot of modification for flood management. An event-driven model coupled with data standardization procedures using service-oriented architecture provides an effective framework for flood management. In this paper,a framework capable of collecting heterogeneous distributed flood-related information for analyzing and alerting probable flood events is proposed. The framework has been implemented to generate automatic flood extent maps,by analyzing the distributed satellite data(as service). The automation of flood delineation process reduces the overall flood product generation time.Open-source web tools have been utilized in development of spatial information system to visualize and analyze the actual situation on ground facilitating overall decision-making process.Vinod Kumar Sharma G.Srinivasa Rao E.Amminedu P.V.Nagamani Abhinav Shukla K.Ram Mohan Rao V.Bhanumurthy 2016Geo-Spatial Information Science2016,19,1:0
3The Effect of the Width of the Incident Pulse to the Dielectric Transition Layer in the Scattering of an Electromagnetic Pulse–a Qubit Lattice Algorithm Simulation显示文摘The effect of the thickness of the dielectric boundary layer that connects amaterial of refractive index n1 to another of index n2 is considered for the propagation of an electromagnetic pulse.A qubit lattice algorithm(QLA),which consists of a specially chosen non-commuting sequence of collision and streaming operators acting on a basis set of qubits,is theoretically determined that recovers theMaxwell equations to second-order in a small parameterǫ.For very thin but continuous boundary layer the scattering properties of the pulse mimics that found from the Fresnel discontinuous jump conditions for a plane wave-except that the transmission to incident amplitudes are augmented by a factor of√n2/n1.As the boundary layer becomes thicker one finds deviations away from the discontinuous Fresnel conditions and eventually one approaches the expectedWKB limit. However there is found a small but unusual dip in part of the transmitted pulse that persists in time.Computationally, the QLA simulations still recover the solutions to Maxwell equations even when this parameterǫ→1.On examining the pulse propagation in medium n1,ǫcorresponds to the dimensionless speed of the pulse(in lattice units).George Vahala Linda Vahala Abhay K.Ram Min Soe 2023Communications in Computational Physics2023,33,1:0
4Effect of partial blockage of air duct outlet on performance of OWC device显示文摘The use of a Savonius rotor as turbine for an oscillating water column(OWC) is demonstrated. The effect of tuning the OWC using turbine duct blockage is also studied for different wave conditions.A horizontal turbine section OWC employing a Savonius rotor was tested by varying the opening of OWC exit(0%,25%,50%,75% and 100%) to study the behavior and performance of the device. The OWC model was tested at water depth of 0.29 m at frequencies of 0.8,0.9 and 1.0 Hz while the exit openings are varied. The static pressure, dynamic pressure, rotational speed of the Savonius rotor and the coefficient of power are presented as results. The OWC with exit opening of 25% showed greater performance in terms of rotational speed and CP compared to OWC with other exit opening percentages. This proves the ability of the OWC to be tuned by regulating flow in the turbine duct.S.Patel K.Ram M.Rafiuddin Ahmed 2012Journal of Central South University2012,19,3:0
