2The Effect of the Width of the Incident Pulse to the Dielectric Transition Layer in the Scattering of an Electromagnetic Pulse–a Qubit Lattice Algorithm Simulation显示文摘The effect of the thickness of the dielectric boundary layer that connects amaterial of refractive index n1 to another of index n2 is considered for the propagation of an electromagnetic pulse.A qubit lattice algorithm(QLA),which consists of a specially chosen non-commuting sequence of collision and streaming operators acting on a basis set of qubits,is theoretically determined that recovers theMaxwell equations to second-order in a small parameterǫ.For very thin but continuous boundary layer the scattering properties of the pulse mimics that found from the Fresnel discontinuous jump conditions for a plane wave-except that the transmission to incident amplitudes are augmented by a factor of√n2/n1.As the boundary layer becomes thicker one finds deviations away from the discontinuous Fresnel conditions and eventually one approaches the expectedWKB limit.However there is found a small but unusual dip in part of the transmitted pulse that persists in time.Computationally,the QLA simulations still recover the solutions to Maxwell equations even when this parameterǫ→1.On examining the pulse propagation in medium n1,ǫcorresponds to the dimensionless speed of the pulse(in lattice units).George Vahala Linda Vahala Abhay K.Ram Min Soe 2023Communications in Computational Physics2023,33,1:0
3Origin and Evolution of Ultramafic Rocks along the Sagaing Fault, Myanmar显示文摘The active Sagaing fault in Myanmar defines the boundary between the Indian Plate and the Eurasian Plate and causes seismic damage in the major cities of Myanmar. Small bodies of serpentinite occur along the fault. We for the first time investigated the highly sheared serpentinite bodies in the Sheinmagar area and Yega Inn area along the Sagaing fault. Extensively sheared/brecciated serpentinites and related rocks, such as talc and/or chlorite-bearing rocks contains small rock fragments of serpentinites. Serpentine texture and mineral chemistry indicate that the protolith of these serpentinites were mainly harzburgite with minor amounts of dunite, some of which are cut by gabbroic veins. No shape-preferred orientation of the antigorite is present, indicating that the serpentinization was occurred under relatively static conditions. Protolith and serpentine minerals are similar to those of the jadeitite-bearing serpentinites in the north of the Sagaing fault(the Jade Mine belt). Chemical variations of spinels in the studied area are within the compositional range of forearc peridotites and those in the mantle section of nearby ophiolites. After the formation of antigorite serpentinite under static conditions, these serpentinites were subsequently, but locally deformed, probably due to the activity of the Sagaing fault, resulting in the formation of serpentinite schist/brecciated rock. The presence of the less-deformed antigorite serpentinite in the sheared/brecciated zone indicates the strain localization mainly along the surrounding serpentine-talc(±chlorite) schistose rocks, which is probably formed by the reaction between serpentinite and country rocks. 4Fuzzy Logic Based Perceptual Image Hashing Algorithm in Malaysian Banknotes Detection System for the Visually Impaired显示文摘Visually impaired persons have difficulty in business that dealing with banknote.This paper proposed a Malaysian banknotes detection system using image processing technology and fuzzy logic algorithm for the visually impaired.The Malaysian banknote reader will first capture the inserted banknote image,sending it to the cloud server for image processing via Wi-Fi medium.The cloud server is established to receive the banknote image sending from the banknote reader,processing them using perceptual hashing based image searching and fuzzy logic algorithm,then return the detected banknote’s value results back to the banknote reader.The banknote reader will display the results in terms of voice message played on the mini speaker attached on it,to allow visually impaired persons knowing the banknote’s value.This hardware mechanism reduces the size and costs for the banknote reader carried by the visually impaired persons.Experimental results showed that this Malaysian banknotes detection system reached an accuracy beyond 95%by running test on 600 different worn,torn and new Malaysian banknotes.After the banknote image being taken by the banknote reader’s camera,the system able to detect the banknote value in about 480 mili-seconds to 560 mili-seconds for a single sided banknote recognition.The banknotes detection speed was also comparable with human observers reading banknotes,with the response of 1.0908 second per banknote slight difference reading time.The IoT and image processing concepts were successfully blended and it provides an alternative to aid the visually impaired person their daily business transaction activities in a better way.Wai Kit Wong Chi Jie Tan Thu Soe Min Eng Kiong Wong 2021Artificial Intelligence Advances2021,3,1:0
