Crustal structure of northeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau by receiver function inversion显示文摘Using seismic data of about one year recorded by 18 broadband stations of ASCENT project,we obtained 2547 receiver functions in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. The Moho depths under 14 stations were calculated by applying the H-κ domain search algorithm. The Moho depths under the stations with lower signal-noise ratio(SNR) were estimated by the time delay of the PS conversion. Results show that the Moho depth varies in a range of ~40–60 km.The Moho near the Haiyuan fault is vague, and its depth is larger than those on its two sides. In the Qinling-Qilian Block, the Moho becomes shallower gradually from west to east.To the east of 105°E,the average depth of the Moho is 45 km,whereas the west is 50 km or even deeper.Combining our results with surface wave research,we suggest a boundary between the Qinling and the Qilian Mountains at around 105°E.S wave velocities beneath 15 stations have been obtained through a linear inversion by using Crust2.0 as an initial model, and the crustal thickness that was derived by H-κ domain search algorithm was also taken into account. The results are very similar to the results of previous active source studies. The resulting figure indicates that low velocity layers developed in the middle and lower crust beneath the transition zone of the Tibet Block and western Qinling, which may be related to regional faults and deep earth dynamics. The velocity of the middle and lower crust increases from the Songpan Block to the northeastern margin of Tibetan Plateau.Based on the velocity of the crust, the distribution of the low velocity zone and the composition of the curst(Poisson's ratio),we infer that the crust thickening results from the crust shortening along the direction of compression.LIU QiMin ZHAO JunMeng LU Fang LIU HongBing 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,4:23
Relation between electricity structure of the crust and deformation of crustal blocks on the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau显示文摘Study on the electricity structure along a magnetotelluric (MT) sounding profile on the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau indicates that four crustal blocks can be de-termined from southwest to northeast, namely Bayan Har block (BH), Qin-Qi block (QQ), Hai-yuan block (HY) or the North-South seismotectonic belt and Ordos block (OD). The BH, QQ and OD blocks display a similar electricity structure of the crust. The upper crust represents a high- resistivity layer and the upper part of lower crust represents a low-resistivity layer with the resis-tivity increasing gradually with depth from the lower part of lower crust to the upper mantle. The electricity structure of the crust in these three blocks is similar to that in the complete blocks on the southern and eastern margins of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and belongs to normal electricity layering of the crust in slightly deformed or complete intracontinental blocks. The crust in HY block as a boundary zone has been significantly deformed, hence its electricity layering was de-stroyed and the structure was complex and the block became a recent tectonically active and great seismo-active region. The contact belts between the blocks on the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau exhibit both upthrusting outward and strike-slip movement different from those on the southern and eastern margins of the plateau. The genesis of the low-resistivity layer in the crust is analyzed and the thickness of the lithosphere is estimated in the paper.ZHAO Guoze TANG Ji ZHAN Yan CHEN Xiaobin ZHUO Xianjun WANG Jijun XUAN Fei DENG Qianhui ZHAO Junmeng 2005Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,10:20
Disentangling the effects of topography and space on the distributions of dominant species in a subtropical forest显示文摘Topography and space are two important factors determining plant species assemblages in forest communities.Quantification of the contribution of these two factors in determining species distribution helps us to evaluate their relative importance in determining species assemblages. This study aims to disentangle the effect of topography and space on the distributions of 14 dominant species in a subtropical mixed forest.Spearman correlation analysis and the torustranslation test were used to test the species–habitat associations.Variation partitioning was used to quantify the relative contributions of topography and space at three sampling scales and three life stages.Correlation analyses and torus-translation tests showed species abundance was mostly correlated with topographic wetness index, vertical distance from the channel network and convexity.Variation partitioning showed that pure topography, pure space and spatially structured topography explained about 2.1 %,41.2 % and 13.8 %of the variation in species distributions, respectively. For nine species, total topography fractions peaked in 20 m quadrats. For ten species, the pure space fractions peaked in 50 m quadrats. For many species, the total topography fraction andthe pure space fraction were larger for the most abundant life stages, which reflected the importance of sampling effect. However, some cases did not follow this trend suggesting that the effects of ecological processes such as habitat filtering, density dependence or dispersal limitation may exceed the sampling effects. In conclusion,we found that spatially structured topography and pure space primarily shaped the distribution of dominant tree species.Furthermore, their effects were both scale- and life stage-dependent.Qinggang Wang Yaozhan Xu Zhijun Lu Dachuan Bao Yili Guo Junmeng Lu Kuihan Zhang Haibo Liu Hongjie Meng Xiujuan Qiao Handong Huang Mingxi Jiang 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,35:16
Density dependence and habitat preference shape seedling survival in a subtropical forest in central China显示文摘Aims seedlings are vulnerable to many kinds of fatal abiotic and biotic agents, and examining the causes of seedling dynamics can help understand mechanisms of species coexistence. To disentangle the relative importance of neighborhood densities, habitat factors and phylogenetic relatedness on focal seedling survival,we monitored the survival of 5306 seedlings of 104 species>15 months. We address the following questions:(i)How do neighborhood densities, habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness affect seedling survival? What is the relative importance of conspecific densities, habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness to seedling survival?(ii)Does the importance of the neighborhood densities, habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness vary among growth forms, leaf habits or dispersal modes?specially, does the conspecific negative density dependence inhibit tree and decidu-ous seedlings more compared with shrub and evergreen species?Does density dependence affect the wind and animal-dispersed species equally? Methods We established 135 census stations to monitor seedling dynamics in a 25-ha subtropical forest plot in central China.Conspecific and heterospecific seedling density in the 1-m2 seedling plot and adult basal area within a 20-m radius provided neighborhood density var-iables.mean elevation, convexity and aspect of every 5-×5-m grid with seedling plots were used to quantify habitat characteristics. We calculated the relative average phylodiversity between focal seed-ling and heterospecific neighbors to quantify the species related-ness in the neighborhood.Eight candidate generalized linear mixed models with binominal error distribution were used to compare the relative importance of these variables to seedling survival.akaike’s information criteria were used to identify the most parsimonious models.Important Findingsat the community level, both the neighborhood densities and phylogenetic relatedness were important to seedling survival. We found negative effects of increasing conspecific seedlings, which suggested the existence of species-specific density-dependent mortality.Phylodiversity of heterospecific neighbors was negatively related to survival of focal seedlings, indicating similar habitat preference shared among phylogenetically closely related species may drive seedling survival. The relative importance of neighborhood densities, habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness varied among ecological guilds.Conspecific densities had significant negative effect for deciduous and wind-dispersed species, and marginally significant for tree seedlings>10 cm tall and animal-dispersed species.Habitat variables had limited effects on seedling survival, and only elevation was related to the sur-vival of evergreen species in the best-fit model. We conclude that both negative density-dependent mortality and habitat preference reflected by the phylogenetic relatedness shape the species coex-istence at seedling stage in this forest.Junmeng Lu Daniel J.Johnson Xiujuan Qiao Zhijun Lu Qinggang Wang Mingxi Jiang 2015Journal of Plant Ecology2015,8,6:12
Deep structure at northern margin of Tarim Basin显示文摘In this paper, a 2D velocity structure of the crust and the upper mantle of the northern margin of the Tarim Basin (TB) has been obtained by ray tracing and theoretical seismogram calculation under the condition of 2D lateral inhomogeneous medium using the data of seismic wide angle reflection/refraction profile from Baicheng to Da Qaidam crossing the Kuqa Depression (KD) and Tabei Uplift (TU). And along the Baicheng to Da Qaidam profile, 4 of the 10 shot points are located in the northern margin of the TB. The results show that the character of the crust is uniform on the whole between the KD and TU, but the depth of the layers, thickness of the crust and the velocity obviously vary along the profile. Thereinto, the variation of the crust thickness mainly occurs in the middle and lower crust. The Moho has an uplifting trend near the Baicheng shot point in KD and Luntai shot point in TU, and the thickness of the crust reduces to 42 km and 47 km in these two areas, respectively. The transition zone between the KD and TU has a thickest crust, up to 52 km. In this transition zone, there are high velocity anoma-lies in the upper crust, and low velocity anomalies in the lower crust, these velocity anomalies zone is near vertical, and the sediment above them is thicker than the other areas. According to the velocity distributions, the profile can be divided into three sections:KD, TU and transition zone between them. Each section has a special velocity structural feature, the form of the crystalline basement and the relationship between the deep structure and the shallow one. The differences of velocity and tectonic between eastern and western profile in the northern margin of the Tarim Basin (NMTB) may suggest different speed and intensity of the subduction from the Tarim basin to the Tianshan orogenic belt (TOB).ZHAO JunMeng CHENG HongGang PEI ShunPing LIU HongBing ZHANG JianShi LIU BaoFeng 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,10:10
Lead-free thermochromic perovskites with tunable transition temperatures for smart window applications显示文摘The structural flexibility of hybrid perovskite materials allows for phase transition and consequently thermochromic properties. Here we investigate the thermochromic performance in a series of copper-based layered perovskites with organic cations having different alky chain lengths. Their transition temperature is found to be dependent on the organic cations due to molecular motion and hydrogen bond interaction, providing possibilities to prepare thermochromic semiconductors near room temperature for smart window applications.Jingwen Li Xiaolong Liu Peixin Cui Junmeng Li Tao Ye Xi Wang Chuang Zhang Yong Sheng Zhao 2019Science China Chemistry2019,62,9:6
Crustal flow beneath the eastern margin of the Tibetan plateau显示文摘In large continental orogens, an important research topic is the behavior of deep crustal and upper mantle deformation, and the flow styles of ductile material. The morphology of the eastern margin of the Tibetan plateau, adjacent to the Sichuan basin, is characterized by very steep relief with high mountain ranges. The crust beneath this region slows the velocities in the middle and lower crust. We have adopted a relatively dense network to inverse the detailed structure of the crust and upper mantle along the eastern margin of the Tibetan plateau and Sichuan basin, using teleseismic data via receiver function analysis. The results are in-line with the hypothesis that viscous crustal material is flowing beneath the eastern margin of the Tibetan plateau and that this process drives overlying crustal material around the strong and rigid Sichuan basin. When the viscous material hits this obstruction, flows are divided into two or more branches with different directions. The upper part of the upwelling viscous flow produces the pressure to intrude the upper crust, thereby driving uplift of mountain ranges and high peaks. In contrast, the lower part of the downwelling viscous flow produces the pressure to intrude the lower crust and upper mantle to deepen the Moho discontinuity, causing observed crustal thickening.Jieshou Zhu Junmeng Zhao Xiaotao Jiang Jun Fan Chuntao Liang 2012Earthquake Science2012,25,5:6
Enhanced NO_2 gas sensing of a single-layer MoS_2 by photogating and piezo-phototronic effects显示文摘NO_2 sensors with ultrahigh sensitivity are demanded for future electronic sensing systems. However, traditional sensors are considerably limited by the relative low sensitivity, high cost and complicated process. Here, we report a simply and reliable flexible NO_2 sensor based on single-layer MoS_2. The flexible sensor exhibits high sensitivity to NO_2 gas due to ultra-large specific surface area and the nature of two-dimensional(2 D) semiconductor. When the NO_2 is 400 ppb(parts per billion), compared with the dark and strain-free conditions, the sensitivity of the single-layer sensor is enhanced to 671% with a625 nm red light-emitting diode(LED) illumination of 4 mW/cm^2 power under 0.67% tensile strain.More important, the response time is dramatically reduced to $16 s and it only needs $65 s to complete90% recovery. A theoretical model is proposed to discuss the microscopic mechanisms. We find that the remarkable sensing characteristics are the result of coupling among piezoelectricity, photoelectricity and adsorption-desorption induced charges transfer in the single-layer MoS_2 Schottky junction based device. Our work opens up the way to further enhancements in the sensitivity of gas sensor based on single-layer MoS_2 by introducing photogating and piezo-phototronic effects in mesoscopic systems.Junmeng Guo Rongmei Wen Junyi Zhai Zhong Lin Wang 2019Science Bulletin2019,64,2:5
Ablation of Akt2 and AMPKα2 rescues high fat diet-induced obesity and hepatic steatosis through Parkin-mediated mitophagy显示文摘Given the opposing effects of Akt and AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)on metabolic homeostasis, this study examined the effects of deletion of Akt2 and AMPKα2 on fat diet-induced hepatic steatosis.Akt2–Ampkα2 double knockout(DKO)mice were placed on high fat diet for 5 months.Glucose metabolism, energy homeostasis, cardiac function, lipid accumulation, and hepatic steatosis were examined.DKO mice were lean without anthropometric defects.High fat intake led to adiposity and decreased respiratory exchange ratio(RER)in wild-type(WT)mice,which were ablated in DKO but not Akt2^(-/-) and Ampkα2^(-/-) mice.High fat intake increased blood and hepatic triglycerides and cholesterol, promoted hepatic steatosis and injury in WT mice. These effects were eliminated in DKO but not Akt2^(-/-) and Ampkα2^(-/-) mice.Fat diet promoted fat accumulation, and enlarged adipocyte size, the effect was negated in DKO mice.Fat intake elevated fatty acid synthase(FAS),carbohydrate-responsive element-binding protein(CHREBP),sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1(SREBP1),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha(PGC-1α),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α(PPARα),PPARγ,stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1(SCD-1),phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase(PEPCK),glucose 6-phosphatase(G6Pase),and diglyceride O-acyltransferase 1(DGAT1),the effect was absent in DKO but not Akt2^(-/-) and Ampkα2^(-/-) mice.Fat diet dampened mitophagy, promoted inflammation and phosphorylation of forkhead box protein O1(FoxO1)and AMPKα1(Ser^(485)),the effects were eradicated by DKO.Deletion of Parkin effectively nullified DKO-induced metabolic benefits against high fat intake.Liver samples from obese humans displayed lowered microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3B(LC3B),Pink1,Parkin,as well as enhanced phosphorylation of Akt,AMPK(Ser^(485)),and FoxO1,which were consolidated by RNA sequencing(RNAseq)and mass spectrometry analyses from rodent and human livers. These data suggest that concurrent deletion of Akt2 and AMPKα2 offers resilience to fat diet-induced obesity and hepatic steatosis, possibly through preservation of Parkin-mediated mitophagy and lipid metabolism.Shuyi Wang Jun Tao Huaguo Chen Machender R.Kandadi Mingming Sun Haixia Xu Gary D.Lopaschuk Yan Lu Junmeng Zheng Hu Peng Jun Ren 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,11:4
Rupture process of the 2015 Pishan earthquake from joint inversion of InSAR, teleseismic data and GPS显示文摘An earthquake of Mw6.4 occurred in Pishan County in Xinjiang Province, northwestern Tibetan Plateau, on July 3,2015. The epicenter was located on an active blind thrust system located at the northern margin of the Western Kunlun Mountain Orogenic Belt southwest of the Tarim Basin. We constructed a shovel-shaped fault model based on the layered-crust model with reference to the seismic reflection profile, and obtained the rupture process of the earthquake from the joint inversion of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(InSAR) measurements, far-field waveform data, and Global Positioning System(GPS) data. The results show that the seismic fault dips southward with a strike of 109°, and the rupture direction was essentially northward. The fault plane rupture distribution is concentrated, with a maximum recorded slip of 73 cm. The main features of the fault are as follows: low inclination angle(25°–10°), thrust slip at a depth of 9–13 km, rupture propagation time of about 12 s, no significant slip in soft or hard sedimentary layers at 0–4 km depth and propagation from the initial rupture point to the surrounding area with no obvious directionality. The InSAR time-series analysis method is used to determine the deformation rate in the source region within 2 years after the earthquake, and the maximum value is ~17 mm yr-1 in the radar line-of-sight direction. Obvious post-earthquake deformation is evident in the hanging wall, with a similar trend to the coseismic displacement field. These results suggest that the Pishan earthquake has not completely released the accumulated energy of the region, given that the multilayer fold structure above the blind fault is still in a process of slow uplift since the earthquake. Post-earthquake adjustment models and aftershock risk analysis require further study using more independent data.Xun WANG Weimin WANG Junmeng ZHAO Zhenxing YAO 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,10:4
Moho offset beneath the central Bangong-Nujiang suture of Tibetan Plateau显示文摘By analyzing teleseismic waveforms recorded by 53 stations of Hi-Climb profile passing through the central Bangong-Nujiang suture(BNS) ,a total of 4764 high-quality receiver functions are obtained. The average crustal thickness and Poisson's ratio beneath each station are estimated using the travel time of Ps and PpPs of the Moho. The discontinuities such as the Moho, the 410and 660-km interfaces are also studied using the common converted points(CCP) time to depth migration of receiver functions. The main results are as follows:(1) The Moho of Lhasa terrane and that of Qiangtang terrane nearby BNS are overridden and offset by~10 km.The structural geometry shows a northward uplifting and the southward deepening for the Moho of Lhasa terrane and Qiangtang terrane, respectively, which is related to the reactivated structure beneath BNS since Cenozoic era.(2) The variation range of Poisson's ratios along the profile is between 0.237 and 0.280,indicating that the crust is mainly composed of felsic and intermediate rocks. The anti-correlation between the crustal thickness and Poisson's ratio suggests that thicker crust beneath the southern Qiangtang terrane may be related to the successive thrust of felsic and intermediate rock of Lhasa terrane.(3) The thickness of the mantle transition zone along the profile remains about 255 km,implying that the tectonic activities caused by the India-Asia collision are confined to the depths above 410 km.XU Qiang ZHAO JunMeng CUI ZhongXiong PEI ShunPing LIU HongBing 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,7:4
Basement Structure and Properties of the Western Junggar Basin, China显示文摘A comprehensive geophysical profile stretching from Qingyijing at the southern edge of the Junggar Basin to Ubara on the northern margin of the Junggar Basin was conducted in an attempt to probe the crustal structure of the western Junggar Basin(hereafter referred to simply as ‘the Basin'), and, in particular, the structure and property of the Basin's crystalline basement. A survey using seismically converted waves was conducted along this profile to determine the characteristics of the P-and Swave velocities typical of the crust and uppermost mantle. A joint inversion of gravitation and aeromagnetic data was also performed to acquire the density and magnetization intensity values found beneath the western Basin. This research revealed that the Basin is composed of the so-called Manasi terrain in the south, and the Wulungu terrain in the north. Their boundary is located along the WNW-trending Dishuiquan-Sangequan suture, linking the NE-striking Da'erbute suture(DS) in the west, and the WNWtrending Kalameili suture(KS) in the east. In its northern part, the Wulungu-type terrain has a doublelayered basement, of which the upper layer is a folded basement of Hercynian orogenic origin, and the lower layer is a crystalline basement of Middle–Upper Proterozoic age. The southern part of the Basin, i.e., the Manasi terrain, has a single-layered crystalline basement. The folded basement here is too thin to be clearly distinguished.Junmeng Zhao Shuze Chen Gong Deng Xuezhong Shao Heng Zhang Jamshed Aminov Xinfa Chen Zongjin Ma 2019Journal of Earth Science2019,30,2:3
Xiaojun WANG Yong SONG Baoli BIAN Junmeng ZHAO Heng ZHANG Maodu YAN Shunping PEI Qiang XU Shuaijun WANG Hongbing LIU Changhui JU 2021地学前缘2021,28,6:2
Crustal structure beneath Tien Shan orogenic belt and its adjacent regions from multi-scale seismic data显示文摘As one of the world's most active intracontinental mountain belts, Tien Shan has posed questions for researchers regarding the formation of different tectonic units and active shallow seismicity. Here, we used a huge data set comprising of 7094 earthquakes from local, regional and teleseismic seismic stations. We used waveform modeling and multi-scale double-difference earthquake relocation technique to better constrain the source parameters of the earthquakes. The new set of events provided us with better initial earthquake locations for further tomographic investigation. We found that reverse-faulting earthquakes dominate the whole study area while the fault plane solutions for earthquakes beneath the northwestern Tarim Basin and the Main Pamir Thrust are diverse. There is a low-velocity anomaly beneath Bashkaingdy at depth of 80 km, and high-velocity anomalies beneath central Tien Shan at shallower depths. These observations are the keys to understand the mechanism of Tien Shan's formation because of Tarim Basin northward and Kazakh Shield's southward subduction in the south and north respectively. Velocities beneath western Tien Shan are relatively high. We thus infer that the Western Tien Shan is relatively less deformed than the eastern Tien Shan primarily due to a relatively brittle mantle.N.Ghani KHAN BAI Ling ZHAO JunMeng LI GuoHui M.Moklesur RAHMAN CHENG Cheng YANG JianYa 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,10:2

Focal depth estimates of earthquakes in the Himalayan-Tibetan region from teleseismic waveform modeling显示文摘We estimate the focal depths and fault plane solutions of 46 moderate earthquakes in the Himalayan- Tibetan region by modeling the broadband waveforms of teleseismic P waves. The depths of 38 of these earth-quakes range between 0-40 km, with a peak at ~5 km. One earthquake is located within the lower crust of the Indian shield. The remaining eight earthquakes occurred between depths of 80-120 km and are all located in the Pamir-Hindu Kush and the Indo-Myanmar deep seismic zones. None of the earthquakes outside these deep seismic zones are located in the mantle. Global centroid moment tensor (CMT) solutions indicate that most earthquakes in northern Tibet and northern India had thrust-faulting mechanisms and that normal and strike-slip faulting earthquakes occurred primarily in central Tibet. These mechanisms are consistent with the predominantly NNW-SSE compression in the direction of current Himalayan-Tibetan continental collision.Ling Bai Jeroen Ritsema Junmeng Zhao 2012Earthquake Science2012,25,5:1
