| 2 | A topologically substituted boron nitride hybrid aerogel for highly selective CO2 uptake显示文摘A topologically mediated synthesis of porous boron nitride aerogel has been experimentally and theoretically investigated for carbon dioxide (CO2)uptake. | 3 | Synthesis,characterization and magnetic properties of near monodisperse Fe_3O_4 sub-microspheres显示文摘Near monodisperse Fe3O4 sub-microspheres with an average diameter of 170 nm have been synthesized by a solvothermal reduction method, using K3[Fe(CN)6] as the raw material in the absence of any surfactants at 200℃ for 24 h. The products were detected by XRD, FESEM, TEM, and XPS. The investigation of the reaction parameters indicates that ethylene glycol plays a key role both as reducing agent and solvent. In addition, the reaction time and temperature also have important influences on the final product. | 5 | Early changes to the extracellular space in the hippocampus under simulated microgravity conditions显示文摘The smooth transportation of substances through the brain extracellular space(ECS)is crucial to maintaining brain function;however,the way this occurs under simulated microgravity remains unclear.In this study,tracer-based magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and DECS-mapping techniques were used to image the drainage of brain interstitial fluid(ISF)from the ECS of the hippocampus in a tail-suspended hindlimb-unloading rat model at day 3(HU-3)and 7(HU-7).The results indicated that drainage of the ISF was accelerated in the HU-3 group but slowed markedly in the HU-7 group.The tortuosity of the ECS decreased in the HU-3 group but increased in the HU-7 group,while the volume fraction of the ECS increased in both groups.The diffusion rate within the ECS increased in the HU-3 group and decreased in the HU-7 group.The alterations to ISF drainage and diffusion in the ECS were recoverable in the HU-3 group,but neither parameter was restored in the HU-7 group.Our findings suggest that early changes to the hippocampal ECS and ISF drainage under simulated microgravity can be detected by tracer-based MRI,providing a new perspective for studying microgravity-induced nano-scale structure abnormities and developing neuroprotective approaches involving the brain ECS. | Yajuan Gao Hongbin Han Jichen Du Qingyuan He Yanxing Jia Junhao Yan Hui Dai Bin Cui Jing Yang Xunbin Wei Liu Yang Rui Wang Ren Long Qiushi Ren Xing Yang Jiabin Lu | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,3: | 2 |

| 9 | Stimulated emission at 1.54 μm from erbium/oxygen-doped silicon-based light-emitting diodes显示文摘Silicon-based light sources, including light-emitting diodes(LEDs) and laser diodes(LDs) for information transmission, are urgently needed for developing monolithic integrated silicon photonics. Silicon with erbium ions(Er^(3+)) doped by ion implantation is considered a promising approach, but it suffers from an extremely low quantum efficiency. Here we report an electrically pumped superlinear emission at 1.54 μm from Er/O-doped silicon planar LEDs, which are produced by applying a new deep cooling process. Stimulated emission at room temperature is realized with a low threshold current of ~6 mA(~0.8 A∕cm^(2)). Time-resolved photoluminescence and photocurrent results have revealed the complex carrier transfer dynamics by relaxing electrons from the Si conduction band to the Er^(3+) ion. This picture differs from the frequently assumed energy transfer via electron–hole pair recombination of the silicon host. Moreover, the amplified emission from the LEDs is likely due to a quasi-continuous Er/O-related donor band created by the deep cooling technique. | 12 | Production traits and fertility of reciprocal hybrids between Argopecten irradians irradians and A.i.concentricus显示文摘The two bay scallop subspecies,Argopecten irradians irradians(NN)and A.i.concentricus(SS),are fast growing and major cultured bivalves in China.However,their relatively small sizes and decreasing production traits caused by long-term inbreeding have been major concerns to the industry in the last two decades.Hybridization between the two bay scallop subspecies may provide a new approach to breed a new variety with superior production traits for the industry.For this end,in this study,we hybridized the two bay scallop subspecies in order to obtain a new strain that incorporates the genes of both subspecies.No significant difference was found in fertilization rate,hatching rate and metamorphosis rate between the purebred and crossbred cohorts(NN♀×SS♂,denoted as NS;SS♀×NN♂,denoted as SN).Both mating strategy(intra-vs.inter-population crosses)and egg origin had significant effects on growth and survival at the larval stage.Heterosis was observed in the crossbred and was more pronounced in older stages.Genetic diversity of the reciprocal hybrids,especially that of SN,was increased compared with the purebred cohorts.Almost all hybrids were completely fertile and able to reproduce by selffertilization or by backcrossing with either parent.Apparently,male sterile individuals whose gonads were fully occupied by the ovary part at mature stage were found in the hybrids for the first time.The hybrids,especially SN,may provide precious germplasm resources for the production of ternary hybrids with the Peruvian scallop,A.purpuratus. | Jinjing WANG Junhao NING Xia LU Min CHEN Guilong LIU Xin XU Quanchao WANG He XU Chunde WANG | 2024 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2024,42,1: | 0 |

| 15 | Interaction between polyphenols and amyloids:from the view of prevention of protein misfolding disorders related diseases显示文摘Amyloid is the term usually used to describe a particular type of elongated,unbranched protein fibril with cross-β-sheet characteristics,formed through the ordered aggregation of peptides or denatured proteins.Amyloids show high association with many severe neurodegenerative diseases,such as Alzheimer's,Parkinson's,and Huntington's diseases.Unfortunately,there are still no effective medical treatments to cure these neurodegenerative diseases,including the failure of pharmaceutical approaches with amyloids as the targets.Polyphenols,the major phytochemicals in fruits,vegetables,tea and coffee have many beneficial functional properties,such as antioxidant,antimicrobial and anticancer properties.Polyphenols can interact with proteins through non-covalent interactions,including hydrophobic interaction,hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction.Polyphenols can also covalently interact with proteins mainly via the interaction between quinones,the oxidized products of polyphenols,and the nucleophilic residues(thiol,amino,guanidine,or imidazole)in protein side chains or peptides.Evidence from previous studies have indicated that polyphenols could reduce amyloid-formation via inhibiting fibril aggregation or steering oligomer formation into unstructured,nontoxic pathways.This effect was realized mainly through:(1)preventing conformational changes of precursor native proteins into amyloidogenic forms,(2)inhibiting the conversion of amyloidogenic precursors to amyloid fibrils,or(3)disrupting preformed fibrils meanwhile destructing the aggregation conditions.These findings imply that polyphenols could play a vital role in inhibiting protein misfolding,which might be useful for the prevention of various neurodegenerative diseases. | Chengcheng Ruan Junhao Kong Xiaoqian He Bing Hu Xiaoxiong Zeng | 2022 | Food Materials Research2022,2,1: | 0 |
