2Polymeric microsphere injection in large pore-size porous media显示文摘High water-cut has become a worldwide challenge for oil production.It requires extensive efforts to process and dispose.This entails expanding water handling facilities and incurring high power consumption costs.Polymeric microsphere injection is a cost-effective way to deal with excessive water production from subterranean formations.This study reports a laboratory investigation on polymeric microsphere injection in a large volume to identify its in-depth fluid diversion capacity in a porous media with large pore/particle size ratio.The performance of polymeric microsphere injection was evaluated using etched glass micromodels based on the pore network of a natural carbonate rock,which were treated as water-wet or oil-wet micromodels.Waterflooding was conducted to displace oil at reservoir temperature of 95°C,followed by one pore volume of polymeric microsphere injection.Three polymeric microsphere samples with median particle size of 0.05,0.3,and 20μm were used to investigate the impact of particle size of the polymeric microspheres on incremental oil production capacity.Although the polymeric microspheres were much smaller than the pores,additional oil production was observed.The incremental oil production increased with increasing polymeric microsphere concentration and particle size.As a comparison,polymeric microsphere solutions were injected into oil-wet and water-wet micromodels after waterflooding.It was observed that the oil production in oil-wet micromodel was much higher than that in water-wet micromodel.The wettability of micromodels affected the distribution patterns of the remaining oil after waterflooding and further dominated the performance of the microsphere injection.The study supports the applicability of microsphere injection in oil-wet heterogeneous carbonates.Dongqing Cao Ming Han Jinxun Wang Amar J.Alshehri 2020Petroleum2020,6,3:3

4Calculation of relative permeability in reservoir engineering using an interacting triangular tube bundle model显示文摘Analytical expressions of relative permeability are derived for an interacting cylindrical tube bundle model.Equations for determining relative permeability curves from both the interacting uniform and interacting serial types of triangular tube bundle models are presented.Model parameters affecting the trend of relative permeability curves are discussed.Interacting triangular tube bundle models are used to history-match laboratory displacement experiments to determine the relative permeability curves of actual core samples.By adjusting model parameters to match the history of oil production and pressure drop,the estimated relative permeability curves provide a connection between the macroscopic flow behavior and the pore-scale characteristics of core samples.Jinxun Wang Mingzhe Dong Jun Yao 2012Particuology2012,10,6:2

8Wear mechanism and life prediction of the ripper in a 9-m-diameter shield machine tunneling project of the Beijing new airport line in a sand-pebble stratum显示文摘Tool wear is a noteworthy problem in the process of shield tunneling,and the degree of wear varies with stratum.The sand-pebble strata in Beijing are typically mechanically unstable.However,many subways are buried wholly or partially in sand-pebble strata.Taking the Beijing New Airport line tunneling project as research background,this study evaluated the wear characteristics of the multiconfiguration rippers of a 9-m-diameter spoke-type shield tunneling machine in a sand-pebble stratum.The wear values of five ripper teeth and ripper flanks were analyzed based on field-measured data from the Beijing New Airport line project.As the analytical results show,the wear value generally increases as the installation radius enlarges with the rise of cutting trace length.The wear of the 190-rippers was divided into five categories:pedestal wear,ripper teeth collapse,uniform wear,ripper teeth falling off and ripper flank wear.Uniform wear of the ripper teeth and ripper flank wear were the two abrasion types of the 190-rippers.The teeth of the 155-rippers mostly maintained their cutting capacity under the protection of the 190-rippers.A wear prediction model of linear fitting field data was developed for a 190-ripper face to obtain the optimum shield driving distance in the sand-pebble stratum.The average wear coefficients of the 190-ripper before and after replacement matched well,being 0.045 and 0.066 mm/km,respectively.The results of this study provide a theoretical reference for tool wear prediction in shield construction under similar geological conditions.Hua Jiang Jiachen Zhu Xiaoyan Zhang Jinxun Zhang Hongliang Li Lingfeng Meng 2022Deep Underground Science and Engineering2022,1,1:1

14Mechanical properties of frozen rock mass with two diagonal intersected fractures显示文摘Based on previous research results, this paper investigated the influence of fracture morphology on mechanical properties and failure modes of rock mass with two diagonal intersected fractures. This study carried out a series of triaxial compression tests on rock-like specimens with two crossed fractures under negative temperature, concluded the following conclusions. The strength and failure modes of rock mass are significantly influenced by the dips of two crossed fractures. The strength of rock mass with two fractures cannot simply be estimated using the method that was developed for the rock mass with a single fracture. When the intersecting angle is less than 30°, the failure plane initiates at the tip of ‘‘artificial ruptures' and extends to the upper and lower ends of the specimen. In case of a higher dip and intersecting angle ranging from 30° to 60°, the failure plane propagates along one of these two fractures. The mechanical parameters of rock mass are not only related to the trace length, but also depend on the trace length ratio. One could roughly calculate the strength parameters using the approximation proposed in this paper. For the rock mass with a trace length ratio <0.3(short trace length/long trace length), the failure mode is dependent on the fracture with a longer trace length. When the trace length becomes significant and the trace length ratio approximates to 1, the failure plane propagates along two fractures, where an X-shaped failure pattern is presented. For the rock mass with moderate fractures and a trace length ratio of approximately 1, the failure mode is independent on fractures, which is similar to the damage pattern of intact rock. The strength and elastic modulus of rock mass decrease with the increase of spacing between fractures, while Poisson's ratio is independent on the spacing. The failure mode can be determined by the area of triangle created by two fractures. 16Active forest management accelerates carbon storage in plantation forests in Lishui,southern China显示文摘Background:China has committed to achieving peak CO_(2)emissions before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060;therefore,accelerated efforts are needed to better understand carbon accounting in industry and energy fields as well as terrestrial ecosystems.The carbon sink capacity of plantation forests contributes to the mitigation of climate change.Plantation forests throughout the world are intensively managed,and there is an urgent need to evaluate the effects of such management on long-term carbon dynamics.Methods:We assessed the carbon cycling patterns of ecosystems characterized by three typical plantation species(Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata(Lamb.)Hook.),oak(Cyclobalanopsis glauca(Thunb.)Oerst.),and pine(Pinus massoniana Lamb.))in Lishui,southern China,by using an integrated biosphere simulator(IBIS)tuned with localized parameters.Then,we used the state-and-transition simulation model(STSM)to study the effects of active forest management(AFM)on carbon storage by combining forest disturbance history and carbon cycle regimes.Results:1)The carbon stock of the oak plantation was lower at an early age(<50 years)but higher at an advanced age(>50 years)than that of the Chinese fir and pine plantations.2)The carbon densities of the pine and Chinese fir plantations peaked at 70 years(223.36 Mg⋅ha^(‒1))and 64 years(232.04 Mg⋅ha^(‒1)),respectively,while the carbon density in the oak plantation continued increasing(>100 years).3)From 1989 to 2019,the total carbon pools of the three plantation ecosystems followed an upward trend(an annual increase of 0.16–0.22 Tg C),with the largest proportional increase in the aboveground biomass carbon pool.4)AFM increased the recovery of carbon storage after 1996 and 2009 in the pine and Chinese fir plantations,respectively,but did not result in higher growth in the oak plantation.5)The proposed harvest planning is reasonable and conducive to maximizing the carbon sequestration capacity of the forest.Conclusions:This study provides an example of a carbon cycle coupling model that is potentially suitable for simulating China's plantation forest ecosystems and supporting carbon accounting to monitor peak CO_(2)emissions and reach carbon neutrality.Jiaojiao Diao Jinxun Liu Zhiliang Zhu Xinyuan Wei Mingshi Li 2022Forest Ecosystems2022,9,1:1
17Dynamic evolution in mechanical characteristics of complex supporting structures during large section tunnel construction显示文摘The shallow tunnelling method(STM)often uses temporary supports to divide large section tunnels into several closed or semiclosed sections so as to share the upper load.The complex support system composed of primary and temporary supports can ensure safety during tunnel construction.Based on the large section tunnel of Beijing Subway Line 12,the mechanical characteristics of support system by the double-side-drift method(DSDM)during excavation and demolition were analyzed through numerical simulation and monitoring.The study showed that the middle cave excavation was the most critical stage of the DSDM,during which the load on the supporting structure increased significantly.The temporary vertical support bore most of the new load during middle cave excavation.During the demolition stage,the load was redistributed,which caused arch settlement and section convergence.The removal of the temporary vertical support exerted the greatest impact in this process.The lateral temporary inverted arch changed from axial compression to axial tension after the middle and lower caves were excavated.Based on the mechanical characteristics of the support system,some engineering suggestions were proposed for large section tunnel construction.These research results can provide reference for the design and construction of similar large section tunnels.Hua Jiang Jianhua Mu Jinxun Zhang Yusheng Jiang Chongyang Liu Xiaoyan Zhang 2022Deep Underground Science and Engineering2022,1,2:0
18Propagation of surfactant and polymer flow in natural carbonate cores显示文摘This paper presents an experimental and analytical study of comprehensive effects of surfactant and polymer in aqueous solutions on the propagation in carbonates.Single-phase flow tests of surfactant,polymer and surfactant-polymer mixture were respectively conducted on natural carbonate core plugs at high temperature and high salinity reservoir conditions.The effect of different factors on chemical propagation was taken into account by use of a convection-dispersion model.The dynamic adsorptions of two amphoteric surfactants at 2000 mg/L concentration onto the carbonate rocks were 0.21 and 0.17 mg/g-rock,respectively.The dynamic adsorptions of a sulfonated polymer at 2000 and 5000 mg/L were 0.11 and 0.17 mg/g-rock,respectively.Surfactant-polymer mixtures in aqueous solutions were coinjected to evaluate their competitive adsorption,showing the surfactant adsorption was reduced by approximately 50%.The dispersion coefficient of the chemicals in the carbonate cores was in the magnitude of 10^(-3) cm^(2)/s.Caused by dispersion and adsorption,chemical concentration reduction occurred obviously during the propagation in carbonate porous media.Chromatographic separation took place in the surfactant-polymer co-injection scheme,which was estimated by modeling as well.Dongqing Cao Jinxun Wang Ming Han Amar J.Alshehri 2022Petroleum2022,8,3:0
