| 1 | Juvenile hominoid cranium from the terminal Miocene of Yunnan,China显示文摘Fossil apes are known from several late Miocene localities in Yunnan Province,southwestern China,principally from Shihuiba(Lufeng)and the Yuanmou Basin,and represent three species of Lufengpithecus.They mostly comprise large samples of isolated teeth,but there are also several partial or complete adult crania from Shihuiba and a single juvenile cranium from Yuanmou.Here we describe a new,relatively complete and largely undistorted juvenile cranium from the terminal Miocene locality of Shuitangba,also in Yunnan.It is only the second ape juvenile cranium recovered from the Miocene of Eurasia and it is provisionally assigned to the species present at Shihuiba,Lufengpithecus lufengensis.Lufengpithecus has most often been linked to the extant orangutan,Pongo pygmaeus,but recent studies of the crania from Shihuiba and Yuanmou have demonstrated that this is unlikely.The new cranium reinforces the view that Lufengpithecus represents a distinct,late surviving lineage of large apes in the late Miocene of East Asia that does not appear to be closely affiliated with any extant ape lineage.It substantially increases knowledge of cranial morphology in Lufengpithecus and demonstrates that species of this genus represent a morphologically diverse radiation of apes,which is consistent with the dynamic tectonic and biotic milieu of southwestern China in the late Miocene. | JI XuePing JABLONSKI Nina G SU Denise F DENG ChengLong FLYNN Lawrence J YOU YouShan KELLEY Jay | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,31: | 8 |
| 2 | Comparing the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soil after different bioremediation approaches in relation to the extracellular enzyme activities显示文摘A 120-day experiment was conducted to compare the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) from agricultural soil after natural attenuation(NA), phytoremediation(P), mycoremediation(M), and plant-assisted mycoremediation(PAM) approaches in relation to the extracellular enzyme activities in soil. The NA treatment removed the total soil PAH content negligibly. The P treatment using maize(Zea mays) enhanced only the removal of low and medium molecular PAHs. The Pleurotus ostreatus cultivated on 30–50 mm wood chip substrate used in M treatment was the most successful in the removal of majority PAHs. Therefore,significantly(p < 0.05) highest total PAH removal by 541.4 μg/kg dw(dry weight)(36%) from all tested M treatments was observed. When using the same fungal substrate together with maize in PAM treatment, the total PAH removal was not statistically different from the previous M treatment. However, the maize-assisted mycoremediation treatment significantly boosted fungal biomass, microbial and manganese peroxidase activity in soil which strongly correlated with the removal of total PAHs. The higher PAH removal in that PAM treatment could be reflected in the following post-harvest time. | 3 | 云南昭通中新世末期鸟类动物群的组成及其时代意义显示文摘近年来,作者等人曾在云南昭通地区进行了多次野外大型化石发掘工作,在昭通组含褐煤的组合层中出土了大量的脊椎动物化石,其中以鸟类化石为最多,初步鉴定约860余件。经统计,这些鸟类分属于11目18科。此外,一同产出的还有鱼类、两栖类、爬行类,哺乳动物中的灵长类、长鼻类、奇蹄类、偶蹄类、食肉类、啮齿类、兔形类等化石,它们共同组成了一个新近纪早期(中新世末期)西南地区以鸟类为主的脊椎动物化石群。另外,从20世纪至今,在昭通组的时代界定上,长期以来观点尚不统一。文中根据新发现的动物群,特别是小哺乳动物的最新分析研究,结合古地磁测定结果,推测该动物群的年代应为中新世末期,较之以前的上新世—早更新世的时代结论大大提前。同时,昭通地区中新世鸟类动物群的发现,不仅填补了这一时期我国鸟类化石群的空白,而且对于新近纪鸟类演化的研究也具有重要意义。 | 张玉光 吉学平 Jablonski N G Su D F 王晓斌 杨馨 李志恒 付丽娅 | 2013 | 古生物学报2013,52,3: | 3 |
