1Efects of physical and chemical characteristics of surface sediments in the formation of shallow lake algae-induced black bloom显示文摘Surface sediments are closely related to lake black blooms. The dissolved oxygen(DO) distribution and its penetration depth in surface sediments as well as the migration and transformation of redox sensitive elements such as Fe and S at the sediment-water interface are important factors that could influence the formation of the black bloom. In this study, dredged and undredged sediment cores with diferent surface properties were used to simulate black blooms in the laboratory. The Micro Profiling System was employed to explore features of the DO and ∑ H2 S distribution at the sediment-water interface. Physical and chemical characteristics in sediments and pore waters were also analyzed. The results showed that sediment dredging efectively suppressed the black blooms. In the undredged treatment, DO penetration depth was only 50 μm. Fe2+concentrations, ∑ H2 S concentrations, and ∑ H2 S production rates were remarkably higher in surface sediments and pore waters compared to control and dredged treatments. Furthermore, depletion of DO and accumulation of Fe2+and ∑ H2 S in surface sediments and pore waters provided favorable redox environments and necessary material sources for the blooms. 2Beyond hypoxia: Occurrence and characteristics of black blooms due to the decomposition of the submerged plant Potamogeton crispus in a shallow lake显示文摘Organic matter-induced black blooms(hypoxia and an offensive odor) are a serious ecosystem disasters that have occurred in some large eutrophic shallow lakes in China. In this study, we investigated two separate black blooms that were induced by Potamogeton crispus in Lake Taihu, China. The main physical and chemical characteristics, including color- and odor-related substances, of the black blooms were analyzed. The black blooms were characterized by low dissolved oxygen concentration(close to 0 mg/L), low oxidation-reduction potential, and relatively low pH of overlying water. Notably higher Fe2+and∑S2-were found in the black-bloom waters than in waters not affected by black blooms. The black color of the water may be attributable to the high concentration of these elements, as black FeS was considered to be the main substance causing the black color of blooms in freshwater lakes. Volatile organic sulfur compounds, including dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, and dimethyl trisulfide, were very abundant in the black-bloom waters. The massive anoxic degradation of dead Potamogeton crispus plants released dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, and dimethyl trisulfide, which were the main odor-causing compounds in the black blooms. The black blooms also induced an increase in ammonium nitrogen and soluble reactive phosphorus levels in the overlying waters. 3Seasonal variation of potential denitrification rates of surface sediment from Meiliang Bay, Taihu Lake, China显示文摘The regulatory effects of environmental factors on denitrification were studied in the sediments of Meiliang Bay, Taihu Lake, in a monthly sampling campaign over a one-year period. Denitrification rates were measured in slurries of field samples and enrichment experiments using the acetylene inhibition technique. Sediment denitrification rates in inner bay and outer bay ranged from 2.8 to 51.5 nmol N2/(g dw (dry weight)·hr) and from 1.5 to 81.1 nmol N2/(g dw·hr), respectively. Sediment denitrification rates were greatest in the spring and lowest in the summer and early autumn, due primarily to seasonal differences in nitrate concentration and water temperature. For each site, positive and linear relationships were regularly observed between denitrification rate and water columnn itrate concentration. Of various environmental factors on denitrification that we assessed, nitrate was determined to be the key factor limiting denitrification rates in the sediments of Meiliang Bay. In addition, at the two sites denitrification rates were also regulated by temperature. The addition of organic substrates had no significant effect on denitrification rate, indicating that sediment denitrification was not limited by organic carbon availability in the sediments. 4Effects of sludge dredging on the prevention and control of algae-caused black bloom in Taihu Lake,China显示文摘Algae-caused black bloom (also known as black water agglomerate) has recently become a critical problem in some Chinese lakes.It has been suggested that the occurrence of algae-caused black bloom was caused by the cooperation of nutrient-rich sediment with dead algae,and sludge dredging was adopted to control black bloom in some lakes of China.In this article,based on the simulation of black bloom using a Y-shape apparatus for modeling natural conditions,both un-dredged and dredged sites in three areas of Taihu Lake,China were studied to estimate the effects of dredging on the prevention and control of black bloom.During the experiment,drained algae were added to all six sites as an additional organic load;subsequently,the dissolved oxygen decreased rapidly,dropping to 0 mg/L at the sediment-water interface.Black bloom did not occur in the dredged sites of Moon Bay and Nan Quan,whereas all three un-dredged sites at Fudu Port,Moon Bay and Nan Quan experienced black bloom.Black bloom also occurred at the dredged site of Fudu Port one day later than at the other sites,and the odor and color were lighter than at the other locations.The color and odor of the black water mainly result from the presence of sulfides such as metal sulfides and hydrogen sulfide,among other chemicals,under reductive conditions.The color and odor of the water,together with the high concentrations of nutrients,were mainly caused by the decomposition of the algae and the presence of nutrient-rich sediment.Overall,the removal of the nutrient-rich sediment by dredging can prevent the occurrence and control the degree of algae-caused black bloom in Taihu Lake.Wei He Jingge Shang Xin Lu Chengxin Fan 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3:30
5Impact of different benthic animals on phosphorus dynamics across the sediment-water interface显示文摘As a diagenetic progress, bioturbation influences solute exchange across the sediment-water interface (SWI). Different benthic animals have various mechanical activities in sediment, thereby they may have different effects on solute exchange across the SWI. This laboratory study examined the impacts of different benthic animals on phosphorus dynamics across the SWI. Tubificid worms and Chironomidae larvae were introduced as model organisms which, based on their mechanical activities, belong to upward-conveyors and gallery-diffusers, respectively. The microcosm simulation study was carried out with a continuous flow culture system, and all sediment, water, and worms and larvae specimens were sampled from Taihu Lake, China. To compare their bioturbation effects, the same biomass (17.1 g wet weight (ww)/m 2 ) was adopted for worms and larvae. Worms altered no oxygen penetration depth in sediment, while larvae increased the O 2 penetration depth, compared to the control treatment. Their emergence also enhanced sediment O 2 uptake. The oxidation of ferrous iron in pore water produced ferric iron oxyhydroxides that adsorbed soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) from the overlying water and pore water. Larvae built obviously oxidized tubes with about 2 mm diameter and the maximum length of 6 cm in sediment, and significantly decreased ferrous iron and SRP in the pore water compared to the control and worms treatments. Worms constructed no visually-oxidized galleries in the sediment in contrast to larvae, and they did not significantly alter SRP in the pore water relative to the control treatment. The adsorption of ferric iron oxyhydroxides to SRP caused by worms and larvae inhibited SRP release from sediment. 6Influence of Chironomid Larvae on oxygen and nitrogen fluxes across the sediment-water interface(Lake Taihu,China)显示文摘The microscale distribution of oxygen,the nitrogen flux and the denitrification rates in sediment inhabited by chironomid larvae(Tanypus chinensis) were measured in eutrophic Lake Taihu,China.The presence of the chironomids in the sediment increased the oxygen diffusional flux from 10.4 ± 1.4 to 12.7 ± 2.5 mmol O 2 /(m 2 ·day).The burrows of the larvae represented 'hot spots' and strongly influenced the nitrogen cycles and diagenetic activity in the sediment.The results indicate that the bioturbation effects of Tanypus chinensis chironomid larvae increased the capacity of the sediment as a sink for nitrate and a source for ammonium.Nitrate influx and ammonium outflux were increased 8.8 and 1.7 times,respectively.Under bioturbation,the amount of nitrate consumed was greater than the amount of ammonium released.The total denitrification rate was also enhanced from 0.76 ± 0.34 to 5.50 ± 1.30 mmol N/(m 2 ·day).The net effect was that the bioturbated sediments acted as a net sink for inorganic nitrogen under direct and indirect bioturbation effects compared to the control.Jingge Shang Lu Zhang Chengjun Shi Chengxin Fan 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,5:11
7High-performance all-solid-state polymer electrolyte with fast conductivity pathway formed by hierarchical structure polyamide 6 nanofiber for lithium metal battery显示文摘The utilization of all-solid-state electrolytes is considered to be an effective way to enhance the safety performance of lithium metal batteries.However,the low ionic conductivity and poor interface compatibility greatly restrict the development of all-solid-state battery.In this study,a composite electrolyte combining the electrospun polyamide 6(PA6)nanofiber membrane with hierarchical structure and the polyethylene oxide(PEO)polymer is investigated.The introduction of PA6 nanofiber membrane can effectively reduce the crystallinity of the polymer,so that the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte can be enhanced.Moreover,it is found that the presence of finely branched fibers in the hierarchical structure PA6 membrane allows the polar functional groups(C=O and N-H bonds)to be fully exposed,which provides sufficient functional sites for lithium ion transport and helps to regulate the uniform deposition of lithium metal.Moreover,the hierarchical structure can enhance the mechanical strength(9.2 MPa)of the electrolyte,thereby effectively improving the safety and cycle stability of the battery.The prepared Li/Li symmetric battery can be stably cycled for 1500 h under 0.3 mA cm^(-2) and 60℃.This study demonstrates that the prepared electrolyte has excellent application prospects in the next generation all-solid-state lithium metal batteries.Lu Gao Jianxin Li Jingge Ju Bowen Cheng Weimin Kang Nanping Deng 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,3:4
8Characteristic analysis of lock-in for an elastically suspended airfoil in transonic buffet flow显示文摘Numerical simulations are performed to study the aeroelastic responses of an elastically suspended airfoil in transonic buffet flow, by coupling the unsteady Reynolds-averaged NavierStokes(RANS) equations and structural motion equation. The current work focuses on the characteristic analysis of the lock-in phenomenon. Great attentions are paid to studying the frequency range of lock-in and the effects of the three parameters, namely the structural natural frequency,mass ratio and structural damping, on lock-in characteristic of the elastic system in detail. It is found that when the structural natural frequency is close to the buffet frequency, the coupling frequency of the elastic system is no longer equal to the buffet frequency, but keeps the same value as the structural natural frequency. The frequency lock-in occurs and stays present until the structural nature frequency is near the double buffet frequency. It means that the lock-in presents within a broad range, of which the lower threshold is near the buffet frequency, while the upper threshold is near the double buffet frequency. Moreover, the frequency range of lock-in is affected by mass ratio and structural damping. The lower the mass ratio and structural damping are, the wider the range of lock-in will be. 10Unscented Kalman-filter-based sliding mode control for an underwater gliding snake-like robot显示文摘With its strong endurance and high maneuverability, an underwater gliding snake-like robot(UGSR) is a strong potential candidate for aquatic exploration and monitoring. The major feature of the UGSR, which distinguishes it from other snake-like robots, is long range and long operation duration by gliding. This study establishes a gliding motion control system for the UGSR based on a sliding mode controller(SMC). The control system stabilizes the system and suppresses the uncertainties and unknown disturbances. In this strategy, chattering is reduced based on the reaching law method. To circumvent the difficulty of velocity measurements, a nonlinear observer based on an unscented Kalman filter(UKF) is employed for state estimation and random noise handling. 11F0X01 and F0X03a sensitize non-small-cell lung cancer cells to cisplatin-induced apoptosis independent of Bim显示文摘Low sensitivity to chem otherapy has been a m ajor challenge in the treatm ent of non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC).It is of great clinical significance to discover its mechanisms to improve cell sensitivity to chem otherapeutic drugs.The forkhead box subfam ily O(FOXO)transcriptional factors are downstream factors of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K/AKT)pathway and are reported to play pro-apoptotic roles in a variety of cells including NSCLC cells.But th e ir roles and mechanisms in m ediating cell response to chem otherapy remain to be discovered.We proposed that FOX01 and FOX03a may increase the sensitivity o f NSCLC cells to cisplatin.Moreover,we presumed that LY294002,an inh ib ito r of the PI3K/AKT pathway,may enhance the cytotoxic effects of cisplatin through upregulating FOX01 and FOX03a.In the present study,we found that cisplatin initially increased the expressions and nuclear accum ulation o f FOX01 and FOX03a in NSCLC.Knockdown of FOX01 and FOX03a significantly decreased the cell sensitivity to cisplatin in vitro and in vivo.Moreover,inhibition of F0X01 and FOX03a attenuated cisplatininduced cell apoptosis independent of Bim,a pro-apoptotic protein downstream of the FOXOs.Moreover,LY294002 synergistically increased the cytotoxic effects of cisplatin.Mechanistically,LY294002 increased the expressions and nuclear accumulation of FOX01 and FOX03a.Knockdown of FOXCH and FOX03a abrogated the enhancing effect of LY294002 on cisplatin.Taken together,our results suggested that FOX01 and FOX03a sensitize NSCLC cells to cisplatin and mediate the enhancing effects of LY294002 on cisplatin.Tianyu Sun Jingge Zhang Bo Deng Xiaoqing Fan Tan Long Hua Jin Shaolin Tao Poming Kang Qunyou Tan 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,12:2

13Water-retaining properties of NCZ composite dust suppressant and its wetting ability to hydrophobic coal dust显示文摘Coal dust is a primary threat to underground coal miners.The most common approach to control coal dust is hydraulic methods,such as water spray and coal seam water injection.To improve the dust suppressant efficiency of hydraulic methods,a novel chemical composite dust suppressant,called NCZ,was prepared in this study using calcium chloride(CaCl_(2)),magnesium chloride(MgCl_(2)),and nonionic surfactants using a thermal synthesis method.The water-retaining properties of NCZ powder and its solutions were characterized using the water absorption rate(WAR)and evaporation rate(ER),respectively,and the wetting abilities of the NCZ solutions on coal dust were tested using the initial contact angle(ICA)and sink rate(SR).The results indicate that the NCZ solutions have anti-evaporation effects,and the ER of the solution with a 20.0 wt%NCZ is reduced by 11.7%compared with that of clean water.Furthermore,NCZ solutions have remarkable enhancement effects on the wettability of coal dust.The ICA and SR of clean water and the NCZ solution at 20.0 wt%are 141.9°and 0 mg/s,and 29.3°and 1.46 mg/s,respectively.Finally,quantitative relationships between the solution surface tension and the ICA and IR were established using the least squares method.This study provides a new product for dust suppression in underground mines,which is significant for the optimum applied con-centration of dust suppressant in mining operations.Jianguo Liu Shu Wang Longzhe Jin Tianyang Wang Zihao Zhou Jingge Xu 2021International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2021,8,2:1
