| 1 | Through-needle all-optical ultrasound imaging in vivo: a preclinical swine study显示文摘High-frequency ultrasound imaging can provide exquisite visualizations of tissue to guide minimally invasive procedures.Here,we demonstrate that an all-optical ultrasound transducer,through which light guided by optical fibers is used to generate and receive ultrasound,is suitable for real-time invasive medical imaging in vivo.Broad-bandwidth ultrasound generation was achieved through the photoacoustic excitation of a multiwalled carbon nanotube-polydimethylsiloxane composite coating on the distal end of a 300-μm multi-mode optical fiber by a pulsed laser.The interrogation of a high-finesse Fabry–Pérot cavity on a single-mode optical fiber by a wavelength-tunable continuous-wave laser was applied for ultrasound reception.This transducer was integrated within a custom inner transseptal needle(diameter 1.08 mm;length 78 cm)that included a metallic septum to acoustically isolate the two optical fibers.The use of this needle within the beating heart of a pig provided unprecedented realtime views(50 Hz scan rate)of cardiac tissue(depth:2.5 cm;axial resolution:64μm)and revealed the critical anatomical structures required to safely perform a transseptal crossing:the right and left atrial walls,the right atrial appendage,and the limbus fossae ovalis.This new paradigm will allow ultrasound imaging to be integrated into a broad range of minimally invasive devices in different clinical contexts. | Malcolm C Finlay Charles A Mosse Richard J Colchester Sacha Noimark Edward Z Zhang Sebastien Ourselin Paul C Beard Richard J Schilling Ivan P Parkin Ioannis Papakonstantinou Adrien E Desjardins | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017，6，1： | 6 |

| 3 | Use of intercostal nerves for different target neurotization in brachial plexus reconstruction显示文摘Intercostal nerve transfer is a valuable procedure in devastating plexopathies. Intercostal nerves are a very good choice for elbow flexion or extension and shoulder abduction when the intraplexus donor nerves are not available. The best results are obtained in obstetric brachial plexus palsy patients, when direct nerve transfer is performed within six months from the injury. Unlike the adult posttraumatic patients after median and ulnar nerve neurotization with intercostal nerves, almost all obstetric brachial plexus palsy patients achieve protective sensation in the hand and some of them achieve active wrist and finger flexion. Use in combination with proper muscles, intercostal nerve transfer can yield adequate power to the paretic upper limb. | 5 | Translation and validation of the Greek chronic liver disease questionnaire显示文摘AIM:To translate into Greek and validate the chronic liver disease questionnaire (CLDQ).METHODS:Two hundred and six consecutive adult patients with the diagnosis of a chronic liver disease from 2 general hospitals in Athens were enrolled in the study from May to September 2008.In order to assess their quality of life (QOL) the CLDQ was applied.The instrument was translated from English,back translated and reviewed in focus groups within the framework of a large multicenter study.The measurements that were performed included:2 independent sample t tests,oneway analysis of variance,reliability coefficients,explanatory factor analysis using a varimax rotation and the principal components method.RESULTS:One hundred and twenty five (61%) patients were men,half were aged 40-59 years and > 33% were > 60 years old.Among the patients,48 (23%) were hospitalized and 97 (47%) were cirrhotic according to the Child-Pugh score.The internal consistency of the Greek CLDQ version using Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be 0.93.Exploratory factor analysis identified 7 domains accounting for 65% of the variance of CLDQ items and only partially overlapping with those found in the original version.The area under the receiver operating characteristics curve was calculated at 0.813 and the logistic estimate for the threshold score of 167.50 provided a sensitivity of 74.3% and a specificity of 71.6% for the model.CONCLUSION:Our data confirmed the validity of the Greek version of the CLDQ in identifying the QOL among patients with chronic liver disease. | Zoi Kollia Evridiki Patelarou Victoria Vivilaki Eleni Kollia Florentia Kefou Ioannis Elefsiniotis Spyros P Dourakis Hero Brokalaki | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，46： | 2 |
