| 1 | Bipolar transurethral enucleation and resection of the prostate:Whether it is ready to supersede TURP?显示文摘Objective:According to the EAU Guidelines,transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP)has so far still been considered as the gold standard for surgical treatment for patients with obstructing clinical benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH).However,its relatively high rate of complications and postoperative recurrence necessitates further modification and innovation on the surgery technique.We reported the patient outcomes with our technique.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 52 patients with obstructing clinical BPH who underwent bipolar transurethral enucleation and resection of the prostate(B-TUERP)between March 2015 and September 2015.Pre-and perioperative parameters were obtained from medical charts.Postoperative follow-ups were administrated at 1,3,6,12 and 24 month(s)after surgery,respectively.Results:All the operations were performed successfully with a mean operative time of 43.1 min and an average tissue removal rate of 74.7%.Qmax was significantly improved immediately after surgery,followed by a continuous improvement throughout the follow-ups.Following a steep decrease in mean prostate specific antigen(PSA)and post void residual(PVR)observed within the first half year after surgery,the serum PSA was then maintained at a constant level of 0.61 ng/mL.Temporary urinary retention was found in four cases(7.7%).Stress urinary incontinence occurred in five patients(9.6%),with the condition resolved in 1e2 weeks without extra treatment.Urethral strictures and bladder neck contractures,as the most commonly observed long-term complications,developed in four patients(7.7%).No recurrence was found during 2 years of follow-ups.An improvement in International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF-5)scores was witnessed in 17 patients preoperatively with normal sexual function during the first 6 months after surgery,and sustained throughout the 24-month period.Conclusions:Enucleation reflects an improvement on surgical technique in many ways with a need for surgical equipment that can be broadly accessible in clinical practice.Currently,bipolar resection is a commonly employed procedure in clinical settings,and its similarity shared with bipolar enucleation technique warrants a quick learning of B-TUERP by urologists.Based on these findings,we believe that the substitution of TURP by TUERP as the gold standard for prostate endoscopic procedure can be expected in the future. | Peng Xu Abai Xu Binshen Chen Shaobo Zheng Yawen Xu Hulin Li Haiyan Shen Chunxiao Liu | 2018 | Asian Journal of Urology2018,5,1: | 19 |
| 2 | Effect of manganese on the catalytic performance of an iron-manganese bimetallic catalyst for light olefin synthesis显示文摘A systematic study was carried out to investigate the promotion effect of manganese on the performance of a coprecipitated iron-manganese bimetallic catalyst for the light olefins synthesis from syngas. The catalyst samples were characterized by N2 physisorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mo¨ssbauer spectroscopy, H2-differential thermogravimetric analysis (H2-DTG), CO temperature-programmed reduction (CO-TPR) and CO2 temperature-programmed desorption (CO2-TPD). The Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) performance of the catalyst was measured at 1.5 MPa, 250 C and syngas with H2 /CO ratio of 2.0. The characterization results indicated that the addition of manganese decreases the catalyst crystallite size, and improves the catalyst BET surface area and pore volume. The presence of manganese suppresses the catalyst reduction and carburization in H2 , CO and syngas, respectively. The addition of manganese improves the catalytic activity of water-gas shift reaction and suppresses the oxidation of iron carbides in the FTS reaction. The incorporation of manganese improves the catalyst surface basicity and results in a significant improvement in the selectivities to light olefins and heavy hydrocarbons (C5+ ), and furthermore an inhibition of methane formation in FTS. The pure iron catalyst (Mn-00) has the highest initial FTS catalytic activity (65%) and the lowest selectivity (17.35 wt%) to light olefins (C=2-C=4 ). | 3 | Well-aligned carbon nanotube array membrane synthesized in porous alumina template by chemical vapor deposition显示文摘A new simple approach was developed for preparing well-aligned and monodispersed carbon nanotuoe (CNT) array membrane within the cylindrical pores of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Acetylene and hydrogen were used in the CVD process with Fe-catalyzer at 700℃ under 250 Pa. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were employed to characterize the resulting highly-oriented uniform hollow tube array which had a diameter of about 250 nm, a tube density of 5.3×108cm2 and a length of about 60 μm. The length and diameter of the tubes depend on the thickness and pore diameter of the template. The growth properties of the CNT array film can be achieved by controlling the structure of the template, the particle size of Fe-catalyzer, the temperature in the reactor, the flow ratio and the deposition time. | 5 | Water-saving Potential in aeolian sand soil under straight tube and surface drip irrigation in Taklimakan Desert in Northwest China显示文摘Evaporation loss from the saturated soil beneath drip irrigation emitters highly influences the irrigation efficiency of drip irrigation (DI). Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) is one good approach to curb this inefficiency, but in a new irrigation method, straight tube irrigation (STI), the irrigation tubes do not need to be buried and thus STI is recommended to increase the irrigation efficiency under normal surface-applied DI. STI consists of only connectors and water-transference tubes that can directly transfer irrigation water from the lateral emitters in the drip line to the root zone of plants. Five-month field experiments were carried out in aeolian sand soil in the forest-belts of the Taklimakan Desert, which have poor water storage capacity, to compare the potential water sav- ing between STI and DI. The preliminary results showed that, compared with DI, STI (1) improved the soil water content in soil depths from 40 to 100 cm under the soil surface; (2) achieved the same irrigation effects in relatively shorter irrigation durations; (3) had very little water loss due to deep seepage; and (4) formed a layer of dry sand about 10 to 30 cm thick immediately below the soil surface, which lessened evaporation loss of soil water beneath the emitters on the soil surface. This demonstrates that STI can maximize the water-saving potential of DI through the reduction of wetted soil perimeters on the soil surface. | 6 | Splenic hamartoma: A case report and review of the literature显示文摘Splenic hamartoma is a rare benign malformation, composed of an anomalous mixture of normal splenic elements, often found incidentally while working up other complaints or at autopsy. A splenic mass was incidentally found while evaluating the effects of a traffic accident in a 63-year-old woman. Abdominal computed tomography revealed a well-defined splenic mass with rim enhancement. The patient underwent splenectomy. The resected spleen contained a well-defined mass lesion measuring 3.5 cm × 3.0 cm. Microscopic examination revealed disorganized slit-like vascular channels lined by plump endothelial cells without atypia. The cells lining the vascular channels were positive for CD8, CD31, CD34 and vimentin. Endothelial cells that are positive for CD8 are a key feature that differentiates hamartoma from other vascular lesions of the spleen. The morphological structure, the crystal character of Si nanowire arrays and the individual nanowire were analyzed by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atom force microscopy (AFM) and the X-ray diffraction spectrum (XRD), respectively. It is shown that most fabricated silicon nanowires (SiNWs) tend to be assembled parallelly in bundles and constructed with highly orientated arrays. This method provides a simple and low cost fabricating craftwork and the diameters and lengths of SiNWs can be controlled, the large area Si nanowire arrays can be achieved easily under such a way.
