1Epidemiology and Clinical Outcomes of Metabolic(Dysfunction)-associated Fatty Liver Disease显示文摘Metabolic(dysfunction)-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is currently the most common chronic liver disease and affects at least a quarter of the global adult population.It has rapidly become one of the leading causes of hepatocellular carcinoma and cirrhosis in Western countries.In this review,we discuss the nomenclature and definition of MAFLD as well as its prevalence and incidence in different geographical regions.Although cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in MAFLD patients,the proportion of patients dying from hepatic complications increases sharply as the disease progresses to advanced liver fibrosis and cirrhosis.In addition,patients with MAFLD are at increased risk of various extrahepatic cancers.Although a causal relationship between MAFLD and extrahepatic cancers has not been established,clinicians should recognize the association and consider cancer screening(e.g.,for colorectal cancer)as appropriate.Huapeng Lin Xinrong Zhang Guanlin Li Grace Lai-Hung Wong Vincent Wai-Sun Wong 2021Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,6:8
2Transformers in computational visual media:A survey显示文摘Transformers,the dominant architecture for natural language processing,have also recently attracted much attention from computational visual media researchers due to their capacity for long-range representation and high performance.Transformers are sequence-to-sequence models,which use a selfattention mechanism rather than the RNN sequential structure.Thus,such models can be trained in parallel and can represent global information.This study comprehensively surveys recent visual transformer works.We categorize them according to task scenario:backbone design,high-level vision,low-level vision and generation,and multimodal learning.Their key ideas are also analyzed.Differing from previous surveys,we mainly focus on visual transformer methods in low-level vision and generation.The latest works on backbone design are also reviewed in detail.For ease of understanding,we precisely describe the main contributions of the latest works in the form of tables.As well as giving quantitative comparisons,we also present image results for low-level vision and generation tasks.Computational costs and source code links for various important works are also given in this survey to assist further development.Yifan Xu Huapeng Wei Minxuan Lin Yingying Deng Kekai Sheng Mengdan Zhang Fan Tang Weiming Dong Feiyue Huang Changsheng Xu 2022Computational Visual Media2022,8,1:6

4Fast 3D EM scattering and radiation solvers based on MLFMA显示文摘As the fastest integral equation solver to date, the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) has been applied successfully to solve electromagnetic scattering and radiation from 3D electrically large objects. But for very large-scale problems, the storage and CPU time required in MLFMA are still expensive. Fast 3D electromagnetic scattering and radiation solvers are introduced based on MLFMA. A brief review of MLFMA is first given. Then, four fast methods including higher-order MLFMA (HO-MLFMA), fast far field approximation combined with adaptive ray propagation MLFMA (FAFFA-ARP-MLFMA), local MLFMA and parallel MLFMA are introduced. 5Non-invasive tests of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘For the detection of steatosis,quantitative ultrasound imaging techniques have achieved great progress in past years.Magnetic resonance imaging proton density fat fraction is currently the most accurate test to detect hepatic steatosis.Some blood biomarkers correlate with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis,but the accuracy is modest.Regarding liver fibrosis,liver stiffness measurement by transient elastography(TE)has high accuracy and is widely used across the world.Magnetic resonance elastography is marginally better than TE but is limited by its cost and availability.Several blood biomarkers of fibrosis have been used in clinical trials and hold promise for selecting patients for treatment and monitoring treatment response.This article reviews new developments in the non-invasive assessment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Accumulating evidence suggests that various non-invasive tests can be used to diagnose NAFLD,assess its severity,and predict the prognosis.Further studies are needed to determine the role of the tests as monitoring tools.We cannot overemphasize the importance of context in selecting appropriate tests.Guanlin Li Xinrong Zhang Huapeng Lin Lilian Yan Liang Grace Lai-Hung Wong Vincent Wai-Sun Wong 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,5:1
6OTS_1-dependent deSUMOylation increases tolerance to high copper levels in Arabidopsis显示文摘The conjugation of SUMO(small ubiquitin-like modifier) to protein substrates is a reversible process(SUMOylation/deSUMOylation) that regulates plant development and stress responses. The essential metal copper(Cu) is required for normal plant growth, but excess amounts are toxic. The SUMO E_3 ligase, SIZ_1, and SIZ_1-mediated SUMOylation function in plant tolerance to excess Cu. It is unknown whether deSUMOylation also contributes to Cu tolerance in plants. Here, we report that OTS_1, a protease that cleaves SUMO from its substrate proteins,participates in Cu tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana(Arabidopsis). OTS_1 loss-of-function mutants(ots_(1-2) and ots_(1-3))displayed increased sensitivity to excess Cu. Redox homeostasis and the balance between SUMOylation and deSUMOylation were disrupted in the ots_(1-3) mutant under excess Cu conditions. The ots_(1-3) mutant accumulated higher levels of Cu in both shoots and roots compared to wild type.Specific Cu-related metal transporter genes were upregulated due to the loss-of-function of OTS_1, which might explain the high Cu levels in ots_(1-3). These results suggest that the SUMOylation/deSUMOylation machinery is activated in response to excess Cu, and modulates Cu homeostasis and tolerance by regulating both Cu uptake and detoxification. 7Dynamic neighborhood genetic learning particle swarm optimization for high-power-density electric propulsion motor显示文摘To maximize the power density of the electric propulsion motor in aerospace application,this paper proposes a novel Dynamic Neighborhood Genetic Learning Particle Swarm Optimization(DNGL-PSO)for the motor design,which can deal with the insufficient population diversity and non-global optimal solution issues.The DNGL-PSO framework is composed of the dynamic neighborhood module and the particle update module.To improve the population diversity,the dynamic neighborhood strategy is first proposed,which combines the local neighborhood exemplar generation mechanism and the shuffling mechanism.The local neighborhood exemplar generation mechanism enlarges the search range of the algorithm in the solution space,thus obtaining highquality exemplars.Meanwhile,when the global optimal solution cannot update its fitness value,the shuffling mechanism module is triggered to dynamically change the local neighborhood members.The roulette wheel selection operator is introduced into the shuffling mechanism to ensure that particles with larger fitness value are selected with a higher probability and remain in the local neighborhood.Then,the global learning based particle update approach is proposed,which can achieve a good balance between the expansion of the search range in the early stage and the acceleration of local convergence in the later stage.Finally,the optimization design of the electric propulsion motor is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed DNGL-PSO.The simulation results show that the proposed DNGL-PSO has excellent adaptability,optimization efficiency and global optimization capability,while the optimized electric propulsion motor has a high power density of 5.207 kW/kg with the efficiency of 96.12%.Jinquan XU Huapeng LIN Hong GUO 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,12:1
8A CASE STUDY OF SEDIMENT IMPACTON THE ECOSYSTEM显示文摘The ecological and environmental impact of sediment transport, erosion and deposition, has become one of the main concerns while large-scale engineering works are implemented. The paper discusses the impact through a case study of Shenzhen Bay in South China where a reclamation work is under considerations. The variation of sediment erosion and deposition due to the reclamation causes ecological environmental problems to two natural reserves. 9Insights into plant salt stress signaling and tolerance显示文摘Soil salinization is an essential environmental stressor,threatening agricultural yield and ecological security worldwide.Saline soils accumulate excessive soluble salts which are detrimental to most plants by limiting plant growth and productivity.It is of great necessity for plants to efficiently deal with the adverse effects caused by salt stress for survival and successful reproduction.Multiple determinants of salt tolerance have been identified in plants,and the cellular and physiological mechanisms of plant salt response and adaption have been intensely characterized.Plants respond to salt stress signals and rapidly initiate signaling pathways to re-establish cellular homeostasis with adjusted growth and cellular metabolism.This review summarizes the advances in salt stress perception,signaling,and response in plants.A better under-standing of plant salt resistance will contribute to improving crop performance under saline conditions using multiple engineering approaches.The rhizosphere microbiome-mediated plant salt tolerance as well as chemical priming for enhanced plant salt resistance are also discussed in this review.Huapeng Zhou Haifan Shi Yongqing Yang Xixian Feng Xi Chen Fei Xiao Honghui Lin Yan Guo 2024Journal of Genetics and Genomics2024,51,1:0
