1Relocation of the 10 March 2011 Yingjiang,China,earthquake sequence and its tectonic implications显示文摘An earthquake with MS5.8 occurred on 10 March 2011 in Yingjiang county,western Yunnan,China.This earthquake caused 25 deaths and over 250 injuries.In order to better understand the seismotectonics in the region,we collected the arrival time data from the Yunnan seismic observational bulletins during 1 January to 25 March 2011,and precisely hand-picked the arrival times from high-quality seismograms that were recorded by the temporary seismic stations deployed by our Institute of Crustal Dynamics,China Earthquake Administration.Using these arrival times,we relocated all the earthquakes including the Yingjiang mainshock and its aftershocks using the double-difference relocation algorithm.Our results show that the relocated earthquakes dominantly occurred along the ENE direction and formed an upside-down bow-shaped structure in depth.It is also observed that after the Yingjiang mainshock,some aftershocks extended toward the SSE over about 10 km.These results may indicate that the Yingjiang mainshock ruptured a conjugate fault system consisting of the ENE trending Da Yingjiang fault and a SSE trending blind fault.Such structural features could contribute to severely seismic hazards during the moderate-size Yingjiang earthquake.Jianshe Lei Guangwei Zhang Furen Xie Yuan Li Youjin Su Lifang Liu Honghu Ma Junwei Zhang 2012Earthquake Science2012,25,1:35
2Monitoring and Warning of Landslides and Debris Flows Using an Optical Fiber Sensor Technology显示文摘Landslides and debris flows are typical geo-hazards which occur in hilly or mountainous regions. Debris flows may result from landslides. Geotechnical instrumentation plays an important role in monitoring and warning of landslides and resulted debris flows. Traditional technologies for monitoring landslides and debris flows have certain limitations. The new optical fiber sensors presented in this paper can overcome those limitations. This paper presents two new optical fiber sensor systems: one is the Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG)-based in-place inclinometer for monitoring landslides and the other is the FBG-based column-net system for monitoring debris flows. This paper presents the calibration results of FBG-based in-place inclinometers in laboratory. It is found that the calibration results are in good agreement with theoretical results. Both the FBG-based in-place inclinometers and the FBG-based column-net system have been installed at a site in Weijiagou valley, Beichuan County, Sichuan Province of China. Some preliminary results have been obtained and reported in the paper. 3A distributed measurement method for in-situ soil moisture content by using carbon-fiber heated cable显示文摘Moisture content is a fundamental physical index that quantifies soil property and is closely associated with the hydrological,ecological and engineering behaviors of soil.To measure in-situ soil moisture contents,a distributed measurement system for in-situ soil moisture content(SM-DTS) is introduced.The system is based on carbon-fiber heated cable(CKHC) technology that has been developed to enhance the measuring accuracy of in-situ soil moisture content.Using CFHC technique,a temperature characteristic value(T_t) can be defined from temperature-time curves.A relationship among T_t,soil thermal impedance coefficient and soil moisture content is then established in laboratory.The feasibility of the SM-DTS technology to provide distributed measurements of in-situ soil moisture content is verified through field tests.The research reported herein indicates that the proposed SM-DTS is capable of measuring in-situ soil moisture content over long distances and large areas.Dingfeng Cao Bin Shi Honghu Zhu Guangqing Wei Shen-En Chen Junfan Yan 2015Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2015,7,6:10
4Degradation kinetics and mechanism of trace nitrobenzene by granular activated carbon enhanced microwave/hydrogen peroxide system显示文摘The kinetics of thedegradation of trace nitrobenzene (NB) by a granular activated carbon (GAC) enhanced microwave (MW)/hydrogen peroxide (H202 ) systemwas studied. Effects of pH, NB initial concentration and tert-butyl alcohol on the removal efficiencywere examined. Itwas found that the reaction rate fitswell to first-order reaction kinetics in the MW/GAC/H202 process. Moreover, GAC greatly enhanced thedegradation rate of NB inwater. Under a given condition (MW power300 W, H202dosage 10 mg/L, pH 6.85 and temperature (60 ± 5)°C), thedegradation rate of NBwas 0.05214 min 1when4 g/L GACwas added. In general, alkaline pHwas better for NBdegradation; however, the optimum pHwas 8.0 in the tested pH value range of4.0-12.0. At H202dosage of 10 mg/L and GACdosage of4 g/L, the removal of NBwasdecreasedwith increasing initial concentrations of NB, indicating that a low initial concentrationwas beneficial for thedegradation of NB. These results indicated that the MW/GAC/H202 processwas effective for trace NBdegradation inwater. 5Performance evaluation of two types of heated cables for distributedtemperature sensing-based measurement of soil moisture content显示文摘Distributed temperature sensing(DTS)using heated cables has been recently developed for distributed monitoring of in-situ soil moisture content.In this method,the thermal and electrical properties of heated cables have a significant influence on the measurement accuracy of soil moisture content.In this paper,the performances of two heated cables,i.e.the carbon-fiber heated cable(CFHC)and the metalnet heated cable(MNHC),are studied in the laboratory.Their structures,uniformity in the axial direction,measurement accuracy and suitability are evaluated.The test results indicate that the MNHC has a better uniformity in the axial direction than CFHC.Both CFHC and MNHC have high measurement accuracy.The CFHC is more suitable for short-distance measurement(500 m),while the MNHC can be used for longdistance measurement(>500 m).Dingfeng Cao Bin Shi Honghu Zhu Kun Zhu Guangqing Wei Kai Gu 2016Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,2:5
6Experimental study on uplift mechanism of pipeline buried in sand using high-resolution fiber optic strain sensing nerves显示文摘Reliable assessment of uplift capacity of buried pipelines against upheaval buckling requires a valid failure mechanism and a reliable real-time monitoring technique.This paper presents a sensing solution for evaluating uplift capacity of pipelines buried in sand using fiber optic strain sensing(FOSS)nerves.Upward pipe-soil interaction(PSI)was investigated through a series of scaled tests,in which the FOSS and image analysis techniques were used to capture the failure patterns.The published prediction models were evaluated and modified according to observations in the present study as well as a database of 41 pipe loading tests assembled from the literature.Axial strain measurements of FOSS nerves horizontally installed above the pipeline were correlated with the failure behavior of the overlying soil.The test results indicate that the previous analytical models could be further improved regarding their estimations in the failure geometry and mobilization distance at the peak uplift resistance.For typical slip plane failure forms,inclined shear bands star from the pipe shoulder,instead of the springline,and have not yet reached the ground surface at the peak resistance.The vertical inclination of curved shear bands decreases with increasing uplift displacements at the post-peak periods.At large displacements,the upward movement is confined to the deeper ground,and the slip plane failure progressively changes to the flow-around.The feasibility of FOSS in pipe uplift resistance prediction was validated through the comparison with image analyses.In addition,the shear band locations can be identified using fiber optic strain measurements.Finally,the advantages and limits of the FOSS system are discussed in terms of different levels in upward PSI assessment,including failure identification,location,and quantification.Haojie Li Honghu Zhu Yuanhai Li Chunxin Zhang Bin Shi 2022Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,4:5
7Investigation into the flotation response of refractory molybdenum ore to depressant mixtures:A case study显示文摘In this paper, bulk flotation followed by separation was investigated to concentrate purified molybdenite product from Jinduicheng molybdenum ores(Shanxi province, China). The bench scale tests mainly focussed on separation of molybdenite from other sulfide minerals using the new type of depressants.The effect of each single depressant, including organic depressant-modified dextrin(MD), P-Nokes reagent(PN) and sodium trithiocarbonate(ST), and their mixtures on galena, chalcopyrite and other sulfide ores, was examined in turn by changing the concentrations used in cleaner flotation tests. Closed circuit experiments were carried out under the optimal condition and satisfying recovery and grade of molybdenite concentrate could be achieved(86.294% and 53.157%, respectively). 9Synthesis and electrochemical performance of LiMnPO_4 /C composites cathode materials显示文摘LiMnPO_4 /C composites were synthesized via solid-state reaction with different carbon sources: sucrose, citric acid and oxalic acid. The sam- ples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical performance test. The results of XRD reveal that carbon coating has no effect on the phase of LiMnPO_4 . The LiMnPO_4 /C synthesized at 600 °C with citric acid as carbon source shows an initial discharge capacity of 117.8 mA·hg^-1 at 0.05 C rate. After 30 cycles, the capacity remains 98.2 mAh·g^-1 . 10Theoretical investigation of interaction between a rectangular plate and fractional viscoelastic foundation显示文摘The interaction between plates and foundations is a typical problem encountered in geotechnical engineering. The long-term plate performance is highly dependent on the rheological characteristics of ground soil. Compared with conventional linear rheology, the fractional calculus-based theory is a more powerful mathematical tool that can address this issue. This paper proposes a fractional Merchant model(FMM) to investigate the time-dependent behavior of a simply supported rectangular plate on viscoelastic foundation. The correspondence principle involving Laplace transforms was employed to derive the closed-form solutions of plate response under uniformly distributed load. The plate deflection,bending moment, and foundation reaction calculated using the FMM were compared with the results obtained from the analogous elastic model(EM) and the standard Merchant model(SMM). It is shown that the upper and lower bound solutions of the FMM can be determined using the EM. In addition, a parametric study was performed to examine the influences of the model parameters on the timedependent behavior of the plateefoundation interaction problem. The results indicate that a small fractional differential order corresponds to a plate resting on a sandy soil foundation, while the fractional differential order value should be increased for a clayey soil foundation. The long-term performance of a foundation plate can be accurately simulated by varying the values of the fractional differential order and the viscosity coefficient. 12Spatial Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Urban Resilience from the Perspective of Daily Activity:A Case Study of Nanjing,China显示文摘Based on the connotation of urban resilience and the main contradictions of China's urbanization,urban resilience is placed within the main daily activities contradictory scene of the urban man-land system to build a theoretical framework of urban activity resilience.Relying on geographic big data,this study identifies the spatial characteristics of activity resilience,reveals the impact of activity environment on activity resilience in Nanjing,and proposes countermeasures.The main conclusions are as follows.1)Activity resilience presents a composite spatial structure of circles and clusters,and most areas are resilient but at a low level.2)There are significantly positive and negative global autocorrelation between activity resilience and activity scale,and activity stability.Simultaneously,there also exists a local spatial autocorrelation with the opposite positive and negative trends.3)Activity environment has a significant effect on activity resilience,and the degree and direction of influence among different dimensions and regions are heterogeneous.4)For activity resilience,it is necessary to increase the matching degree between the scale and stability of activities,and reduce the excessive concentration and flow of activities.For the activity environment,it is necessary to improve the accessibility of the ecological environment,strengthen the high-quality supply of the infrastructure environment,optimize the balance of the location environment,and promote the inclusiveness of the social environment.SUN Honghu ZHEN Feng 2021Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,3:2
13Experimental study on the deformation and failure mechanism of overburden rock during coal mining using a comprehensive intelligent sensing method显示文摘Understanding the spatiotemporal evolution of overburden deformation during coal mining is still a challenge in engineering practice due to the limitation of monitoring techniques. Taking the Yangliu Coal Mine as an example, a similarity model test was designed and conducted to investigate the deformation and failure mechanism of overlying rocks in this study. Distributed fiber optic sensing(DFOS), highdensity electrical resistivity tomography(HD-ERT) and close-range photogrammetry(CRP) technologies were used in the test for comprehensive analyses. The combined use of the three methods facilitates the investigation of the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of overburden deformation, showing that the mining-induced deformation of overburden strata was a dynamic evolution process. This process was accompanied by the formation, propagation, closure and redevelopment of separation cracks.Moreover, the key rock stratum with high strength and high-quality lithology played a crucial role in the whole process of overburden deformation. There were generally three failure modes of overburden rock layers, including bending and tension, overall shearing, and shearing and sliding. Shear failure often leads to overburden falling off in blocks, which poses a serious threat to mining safety. 16Biodiversity arks in the Anthropocene显示文摘The Anthropocene proposal suggested that the Earth may have entered a new geological epoch,in which human activity and climate change are influencing the environment at global scale.Arrival of the Anthropocene is bringing an unprecedented challenge to the biodiversity that is essential to humans,and enhancing many benefits of nature to human being.However,biodiversity loss is aggravating in the rhythm of inevitable change in the Anthropocene,and the adaptation of biodiversity to the anthropogenic disturbance seems unable to keep pace with the human activity and climate change.Therefore,re-examination of the assumptions and practices upon the current conservation endeavor are needed.We suggested that biodiversity conservation should be paid more attention to the response from biodiversity to the human activity and climate change in the Anthropocene.Thus,the concept of biodiversity arks in the Anthropocene is proposed,that is,biodiversity arks in the Anthropocene are the areas where vulnerable biodiversity is sheltered to alleviate human activity and buffered from climate change under the anthropogenic disturbance.The concept should be implemented for biodiversity conservation to fill gaps between our knowledge and build on successful conservation and sustainability in the Anthropocene.It will be certainly important to conservation policy instruction and management under climate change,especially the implementation of climate buffering zones preserving biodiversity in the face of warming climate.Honghu Meng Xiaoyang Gao Yigang Song Guanlong Cao Jie Li 2021Regional Sustainability2021,2,2:1

20Chinese speech identification in multi-talker babble with diotic and dichotic listening显示文摘To explore Chinese Mandarin speech identification in babble of spatially separated talkers,subjective speech identification tests of word and sentence were made with diotic and dichotic listening respectively.The result shows that the speech identification scores changed non-monotonically with the masker number N increasing from 1 to infinity,first declining gradually until reaching their minimums and then rising.Statistical difference was found between the scores of diotic and dichotic listening.For all the values of N checked,dichotic listening achieved higher scores than diotic listening,showing that dichotic effect has an advantage for reducing babble masking.And the scores of sentence test are significantly higher than that of word test with whether diotic or dichotic listening,indicating that the linguistic connection in sentence can help listeners get a better perception of the target speech in babble masking.PENG JianXin ZHANG HongHu WANG ZiYou 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,20:1
