| 2 | Effects of copper and zirconium contents on microstructure and magnetic properties of Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)_(z)magnets with high iron content显示文摘The evolution of the microstructure,microchemistry and magnetic properties of the Sm(CobalFe_(0.28)-CuyZrx)_(7.6)magnets with different Zr and Cu contents was investigated.It is found that the coercivity of the Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)_(z)magnets is sensitive to Zr content.The deficiency of Zr content causes heterogeneity of Cu and Fe distributions,while an excessive Zr content leads to the formation of a SmCoZr impurity phase.The cellular structure and distribution of Cu concentration.gradient between the cell boundary phase and cell pha se are destroyed by inappropriate Zr content,which results in a reduction of coercivity.The Cu concentration difference between the cell boundary phase and cell phase increases with increasing Cu content.The coercivity of the Sm(CobalFe_(0.28)CuyZ_(r0.02))_(7.6)magnets increases from 10.4 to 25.4 kOe for y=0.05 and y=0.07.However,the excess of Cu element destroys the cell boundary phase and enlarges the cell size,resulting in a significant decrease of squareness and energy density.The optimum performance(remanence of 11.4 kG,coercivity of 25.4 kOe,maximum magnetic ene rgy product of 30.4 MGOe)was obtained for the Sm(Co_(0.63)Fe_(0.28)Cu_(0.07)Zr_(0.02))_(7.6)magnet. | Zhifeng Shang Dongtao Zhang Zhihong Xie Yunqiao Wang Muhammad Haseeb Pengbiao Qiao Weiqiang Liu Ming Yue | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,2: | 7 |
| 3 | Studies on the management of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita-wilt fungus, Fusarium oxysporum disease complex of green gram, Vigna radiata cv ML-1108显示文摘Studies were conducted under pot conditions to determine the comparative efficacy of carbofuran at 1 mg a.i./kg soil, bavistin at 1 mg a.i./kg soil, neem (Azadirachta indica) seed powder at 50 mg/kg soil, green mould (Trichoderma harzianum) at 50.0 ml/kg soil, rhizobacteria (Pseudomonas fluorescens) at 50.0 ml/kg soil against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incog-nita–wilt fungus, Fusarium oxysporum disease complex on green gram, Vigna radiata cv ML-1108. All the treatments significantly improved the growth of the plants as compared to untreated inoculated plants. Analysis of data showed that carbofuran and A. indica seed powder increased plant growth and yield significantly more in comparison to bavistin and P. fluorescens. | 6 | Factors influencing hybrid maize farmers' risk attitudes and their perceptions in Punjab Province,Pakistan显示文摘Hybrid maize farmers have to face diverse kinds of climate, biological, price and financial risks. Farmers' risk perceptions and risk attitudes are essential elements influencing farm operations and management decisions. However, this important issue has been overlooked in the contemporary studies and therefore there is a dearth of literature on this important issue. The present research is therefore, an attempt to fill this gap. This study aims to quantify hybrid maize farmers' perceptions of disastrous risks, their attitudes towards risk and to explore the impacts of various farm and farm household factors on farmers' risk attitudes and risk perceptions. The present study is conducted in four hybrid maize growing districts of Punjab Province, Pakistan, using cross-sectional data of 400 hybrid maize farmers. Risk matrix and equally likely certainty equivalent(ELCE) method are used to rank farmers' perceptions of four catastrophic risk sources including climate, biological, price and financial risks and to investigate farmers' risk aversion attitudes, respectively. Furthermore, probit regression is used to analyze the determinants affecting farmers' risk attitudes and risk perceptions. The results of the study showed that majority of farmers are risk averse in nature and perceive price, biological and climate to be potential sources of risks to their farm enterprise. In addition, analysis divulges that distance from farm to main market, off-farm income, location dummies for Sahiwal and Okara, age, maize farming experience, access to extension agent, significantly(either negatively or positively) influence farmers' risk attitudes and risk perceptions. | 7 | uPAR antibody(huATN-658) and Zometa reduce breast cancer growth and skeletal lesions显示文摘Urokinase plasminogen activator receptor(uPAR) is implicated in tumor growth and metastasis due to its ability to activate latent growth factors, proteases, and different oncogenic signaling pathways upon binding to different ligands. Elevated u PAR expression is correlated with the increased aggressiveness of cancer cells, which led to its credentialing as an attractive diagnostic and therapeutic target in advanced solid cancer. Here, we examine the antitumor effects of a humanized anti-u PAR antibody(huATN-658) alone and in combination with the approved bisphosphonate Zometa(Zoledronic acid) on skeletal lesion through a series of studies in vitro and in vivo. Treatment with huATN-658 or Zometa alone significantly decreased human MDA-MB-231 cell proliferation and invasion in vitro, effects which were more pronounced when huATN-658 was combined with Zometa. In vivo studies demonstrated that huATN-658 treatment significantly reduced MDA-MB-231 primary tumor growth compared with controls. In a model of breast tumor-induced bone disease, huATN-658 and Zometa were equally effective in reducing skeletal lesions. The skeletal lesions were significantly reduced in animals receiving the combination of huATN-658 + Zometa compared with monotherapy treatment. These effects were due to a significant decrease in osteoclastic activity and tumor cell proliferation in the combination treatment group. Transcriptome analysis revealed that combination treatment significantly changes the expression of genes from signaling pathways implicated in tumor progression and bone remodeling. | 9 | Bromophenacyl bromide,a phospholipase A_2 inhibitor attenuates chemically induced gastroduodenal ulcers in rats显示文摘AIM: To study the effect of bromophenacyl bromide (BPB), a phospholipase A2 inhibitor on gastric secretion and to protect chemically induced gastric and duodenal ulcers in rats. METHODS: Acid secretion studies were undertaken in pylorus-ligated rats with BPB treatment (0, 5, 15 and 45 mg/kg). Gastric and duodenal lesions in the rats were induced by ethanol and cysteamine respectively. The levels of gastric wall mucus, nonprotein sulfhydryls (NP- SH) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) were also measured in the glandular stomach of rats following ethanol induced gastric lesions. RESULTS: BPB produced a dose-dependent inhibition of gastric acid secretion and acidity in rats. Pretreatment with BPB significantly attenuated the formation of etha- nol induced gastric lesion. BPB also protected intestinal mucosa against cysteamine-induced duodenal ulcers. The antiulcer activity of BPB was associated with signifi- cant inhibition of ethanol-induced depletion of gastric wall mucus, NP-SH and MPO. These findings pointed towards the mediation of sulfhydryls in BPB induced gas- trointestinal cytoprotection. | 10 | Maize production under risk:The simultaneous adoption of off-farm income diversification and agricultural credit to manage risk显示文摘Farmers in Pakistan continue to produce maize under various types of risks and adopt several strategies to manage those risks. This study is the first attempt to investigate the factors affecting the concurrent adoption of off-farm income diversification and agricultural credit which the farmers use to manage the risk to maize production. We apply bivariate and multinomial probit approaches to the primary data collected from four districts of Punjab Province in Pakistan. The results show that strong correlations exist between the off-farm diversification and agricultural credit which indicates that the use of one risk management strategy leads to another. The findings demonstrate that education, livestock number, maize farming experience, perceptions of biological risks and risk-averse nature of the growers significantly encourage the adoption of diversification as a risk management tool while farm size inversely affects the adoption of diversification. Similarly, in the adoption equation of credit, maize farming experience, farm size, perceptions of price and biological risks and risk attitude of farmers significantly enhance the chances of adopting agricultural credit to manage farm risks.
