| 2 | Effect of minor Sc addition on microstructure and stress corrosion cracking behavior of medium strength Al–Zn–Mg alloy显示文摘Influence of Sc content on microstructure and stress corrosion cracking behavior of medium strength Al–Zn–Mg alloy have been investigated by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and slow strain rate test. The results indicate that the addition of Sc results in the formation of the quaternary coherent Al_3(Sc, Zr, Ti) dispersoids during homogenization treatment, which will inhibit the dynamic recrystallization behavior. The number density of Al_3(Sc, Zr, Ti) particles increases with the increase of Sc content, and thus the recrystallization fraction of hot-extruded alloy is reduced and the peak strength in two-stage artificial aging sample is enhanced. At the same time, the wide of precipitation free zone is reduced, and the content of Zn and Mg in grain boundary particles and precipitation free zone is increased with the increase of Sc content. In peak-aged state, the 0.06 wt% Sc added alloy shows the better stress corrosion cracking resistance than the Sc-free alloy because of the reduction of recrystallization fraction and the interrupted distribution of grain boundary precipitates along grain boundary. | 5 | Recent advances on 3D printing graphene-based composites显示文摘3D printing or additive manufacturing (AM) has revolutionized the way of manufacturing by designing complex structures in a customized feature which cannot be realized by traditional processing methods. Incoming materials are trying to adopt 3D printing techniques which directly fabricate sophisticated entities with multifunctionality like mechanical, electrical, thermal and magnetic properties etc. For the realization of advanced materials, 3D printing techniques are emerging from single material to composite materials manufacturing by simply introducing the nano- and micro-reinforcements with the matrix. In this review, we provide an outline of 3D printing graphene-based composites according to various AM techniques including fused deposition modeling (FDM), direct ink writing (DIW), stereolithography (SLA) and selective laser sintering (SLS). First a brief introduction of various AM techniques is given to get a basic understanding of the principles of 3D printing, and then the fabrication process, structural characteristics and applications of different 3D printing techniques for graphene-based composites are summarized. In addition, some effective simulation and characterization methods are also included. | 7 | Immobilization of insulin-like growth factor-1 onto thermosensitive hydrogels to enhance cardiac progenitor cell survival and differentiation under ischemic conditions显示文摘Stem cell therapy is a promising approach to treat myocardial infarction. However, direct delivery of stem cells into hearts experiences poor cell engraftment and differentiation, due to ischemic conditions(low nutrient and oxygen) in the infarct hearts. Development of suitable cell carriers capable of supporting cell survival and differentiation under these harsh conditions is critical for improving the efficacy of current stem cell therapy. In this work, we created a family of novel cell carriers based on thermosensitive hydrogels and insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF-1), and investigated if these cell carriers can improve cell survival and differentiation under ischemic conditions. The thermosensitive hydrogels were synthesized from N-isopropylacryla- mide, acrylic acid, acrylic acid N-hydroxysuccinicimide ester, and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-oligo(hydroxybutyrate). The hydrogel solutions can be readily injected through 26G needles, and can quickly solidify at 37 oC to form highly flexible hydrogels. IGF-1 was immobilized into the hydrogels in order to support long-term cell survival and differentiation. Different amount of IGF-1 was immobilized by using hydrogels with different content of N-hydroxysuccinicimide ester groups. Cardiosphere derived cells were encapsulated in the hydrogels and cultured under ischemic conditions. The results demonstrated that a significant improvement of cell survival and differentiation was achieved after IGF-1 immobilization. | 10 | Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a CuCrZr Welding Joint After Continuous Extrusion显示文摘The effect of continuous extrusion forming(CEF) process on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a CuCrZr welding joint was investigated. The experimental results showed that after the CEF process the grains were refined to submicron-scale through dynamic recrystallization,which improved the mechanical properties of the welding joint as well as the base material. Meanwhile,the micron-scale precipitates aggregated at the grain boundaries in the welding process were broken down to smaller ones and recrystallized grains of several micrometers formed around the precipitates after CEF process,which could alleviate the negative effect induced by the micron-scale precipitates during plastic deforming process.
