| 1 | Comparison of mixing layer height inversion algorithms using lidar and a pollution case study in Baoding, China显示文摘Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei area is suffering from atmospheric pollution from a long time. The understanding of the air pollution mechanism is of great importance for officials to design strategies for the environmental governance. Mixing layer height(MLH) is a key factor influencing the diffusion of air pollutants. It plays an important role on the evolution of heavy pollution events. Light detection and ranging(lidar), is an effective remote-sensing tool, which can retrieve high spatial and temporal evolution process within mixing layer(ML), especially the variation of MLH. There are many methods to retrieve MLH, but each method has its own applicable limitations. The Mie-lidar data in Beijing was firstly used to compare three different algorithms which are widely used under different pollution levels.We find that the multi-layer structure near surface may cause errors in the detection of mixing layer. The MLH retrieved based on image edge detection was better than another two methods especially under heavy polluted episode. Then we applied this method to investigate the evolution of the mixing layer height during a pollution episode in December2016. MLH at Gucheng county showed the positive correlation with the concentration of particulate matters during the start of this pollution episode. Sm3+ as sensitizer ion was investigated on the luminescence of CaMoO4:Eu, and it could strengthen the 406 nm absorption of this phosphor. At last, the scheelite CaMoO4:Eu and wolframite ZnMoO4:Eu were selected to compare their host absorption. | 5 | Carbon interstitial defects causing emission red shift in YAG:Ce phosphor:First-principles calculation显示文摘Y_3 Al_5 O_(12):Ce3+ is the most famous phosphor material due to its excellent photolumincent properties.Here,through first-principles calculation,the effect of carbon interstitial defects on Y_3 Al_5 O_(12):Ce3+phosphor was investigated. It is found that the carbon interstitials tend to occupy the next-nearest sites of Ce^(3+) ion in Y_3 Al_5 O_(12):Ce3+ lattice. Specially,these interstitial defects can shorten the Ce3+-O^(2-) bond length, leading to a larger crystal field splitting of 5 d orbital of the Ce^(3+) atom and bigger 5 d centroid shift.These two factors cause the emission spectrum of Y_3 Al_5 O_(12)(C):Ce^(3+) red shift compared with that of Y_3 Al_5 O_(12):Ce3+. Moreover, with our comparison experiment, we find that the Y_3 Al_5 O_(12)(C):Ce3+ has an obvious red shift compared with that of Y_3 Al_5 O_(12):Ce^(3+) system,which is in accord with our first principles calculation. When fluorescent dyes are doped into the liquid crystal and heavily doped chiral agent system,we demonstrate a wavelength tuning random laser instead of a side-band laser, which is caused by the combined effect of multi-scattering of liquid crystal(LC) and band-gap control. | 11 | Magnetic resonance imaging characteristics of postoperative intracranial dissemination of recurrent gliomas显示文摘Ten intracranial gliomas cases, that had postoperative intracranial dissemination, underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations, including T1 weighted imaging, fat-suppressed T1 weighted imaging, T2 weighted imaging and fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR). Results showed that tumor metastasis had occurred via the cerebrospinal fluid, the brain white matter fibers and the surgical access site alone. On the plain MRI scans, 1/7 cases were linearly thickened with isointensity and 5/7 cases exhibited nodular foci on T1 weighted imaging; the cerebral sulci and cisterns in 2/7 cases had become shallow and five cases had nodular foci on T2 weighted imaging. FLAIR imaging revealed that the cerebral sulci and cisterns in 2/7 cases had become shallow and that six cases had affected nodular foci. The contrast-enhanced MRI scans revealed linear thickening in seven cases, nodules in seven cases, similarities to 'mould-like' signs in six cases and hydrocephalus in six cases. | 20 | Retrospective analysis of results of treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Macao显示文摘Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) is a common malignancy in Southeast Asia, however, a full consensus has not yet been reached as to the value of comprehensive treatment for NPC. This study was designed to evaluate the epidemiological characteristics of NPC and their prognostic value, as well as the long-term efficacy of NPC treatment.Patients and methods: A total of 248 patients, with different stages of NPC, were included in this study.Results: The 5-year overall survival(OS) rates for patients in stages I, II, III and IV were 90.48%, 76.71%, 76.89% and 33.87%, respectively(P=0.000), while the respective 5-year progression-free survival(PFS) rates were 85.15%, 72.36%, 63.88% and 26.26%(P=0.000). The respective 5-year OS rates, according to stage, for the group that received radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy and for the group that received radiotherapy only were as follows: stages I and II, 81.67% and 79.59%(P=0.753); stage III, 79.91% and 70.38%(P=0.143); stage IV, 35.22% and 0%(P=0.000). The respective 5-year PFS rates in these groups were as follows: stages I and II, 75.83% and 74.98%(P=0.814); stage III, 74.08% and 42.25%(P=0.027); stage IV, 27.31% and 0%(P=0.000).Conclusions: Clinical staging appears to be the most important prognostic factor for NPC. As the stage number increases, both the 5-year OS and PFS significantly decrease. Adding chemotherapy to radiotherapy was not advantageous for patients with stage I or II NPC, however the addition of chemotherapy to radiotherapy significantly improved OS and PFS in patients with stage IV NPC.
