1Small-volume solution current-time behavior study for application in reverse iontophoresis-based non-invasive blood glucose monitoring显示文摘The reverse iontophoresis-based glucose monitoring circumstance is similar to the small-volume solution in which mass diffusion controls the current response of the electrochemical biosensors.In this study,the law of mass transfer in this type of solution was analyzed and a mathematic model was established to depict the current-time behavior of the fabricated planar electrode used in the non-invasive meter designed by ourselves.A small-volume glucose solution was directly constructed on the electrode to simulate the reverse iontophoresis-based sensing condition.The correctness of the model was demonstrated by chronoamperometry.Animal assay was subsequently carried out to verify the practicality of the model in determination of blood glucose.The results processed by the new method accurately traced the authentic value,confirming the advantage of the new method and the potential in clinical analysis.CHANG LingQian LIU ChunXiu HE YinZeng XIAO HongHui CAI XinXia 2011Science China Chemistry2011,54,1:4
2Selective electrochemical production of hydrogen peroxide at zigzag edges of exfoliated molybdenum telluride nanoflakes显示文摘The two-electron reduction of molecular oxygen represents an effective strategy to enable the green,mild and on-demand synthesis of hydrogen peroxide.Its practical viability,however,hinges on the development of advanced electrocatalysts,preferably composed of non-precious elements,to selectively expedite this reaction,particularly in acidic medium.Our study here introduces 2H-MoTe2 for the first time as the efficient non-precious-metal-based electrocatalyst for the electrochemical production ofhydrogen peroxide in acids.We show that exfoliated 2H-MoTe2 nanoflakes have high activity(onset overpotential〜140 mV and large mass activity of 27 A g^-1 at 0.4 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode),great selectivity(H2O2 percentage up to 93%)and decent stability in 0.5 M H2SO4.Theoretical simulations evidence that the high activity and selectivity of 2H-MoTe2 arise from the proper binding energies of HOO*and O*at its zigzag edges that jointly favor the two-electron reduction instead of the four-electron reduction of molecular oxygen.Xuan Zhao Yu Wang Yunli Da Xinxia Wang Tingting Wang Mingquan Xu Xiaoyun He Wu Zhou Yafei Li Jonathan NColeman Yanguang Li 2020National Science Review2020,7,8:3
3Significantly influenced photocatalytic performance for H_(2)O_(2)generation over ultrathin g-C_(3)N_(4)through regulating the migration orientation of photogenerated charge carriers显示文摘H_(2)O_(2)has been widely applied in the fields of chemical synthesis,medical sterilization,pollutant removal,etc.,due to its strong oxidizing property and the avoidable secondary pollution.Despite of the enhanced performance for H_(2)O_(2)generation over g-C_(3)N_(4)semiconductors through promoting the separation of photo-generated charge carriers,the effect of migration orientation of charge carriers is still ambiguous.For this emotion,surface modification of g-C_(3)N_(4)was employed to adjust the migration orientation of charge carriers,in order to investigate systematically its effect on the performance of H_(2)O_(2)generation.It was found that ultrathin g-C_(3)N_(4)(UCN)modified by boron nitride(BN),as an effective hole-attract agent,demonstrated a significantly enhanced performance.Particularly,for the optimum UCN/BN-40%catalyst,4.0-fold higher yield of H_(2)O_(2)was obtained in comparison with the pristine UCN.As comparison,UCN modified by carbon dust demonstrated a completely opposite tendency.The remarkably improved performance over UCN/BN was ascribed to the fact that more photo-generated electrons were remained inside of triazine structure of g-C_(3)N_(4),leading to the formation of larger amount of 1,4-endoxide.It is anticipated that our work could provide new insights for the design of photocatalyst with significantly improved performance for H_(2)O_(2)generation.Xinxia He Hongyan Shang Chuan Wang Le Chen Zehan Gong Jun Wang Shilin Zhao Jun Ma 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,11:2
4Species-specific aminoacylation of Oryza sativa mitochondrial tRNA^(Trp)显示文摘Abstract The details of species- spe- cific aminoacylation in Oryza sativa mitochondrial tRNATrp by bacterial and eukaryotic (cytoplasm) tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetases (TrpRS) were inves- tigated. Seven single or multiple mutations of three bases (G73, U72, A 68) were made in O. sativa mi- tochondrial tRNATrp to the corresponding nucleotides present in human tRNATrp. In vitro transcripts of these mutant genes were tryptophanylated by Bacil- lus subtilis and human tryptophanyl-tRNA syntheta- ses (TrpRS), and the kinetic parameters were deter- mined. The results showed that the aminoacylation of seven mutant transcripts by B. subtilis TrpRS was 53.33%―99.79% less efficient than that by wild-type O. sativa mitochondrial tRNATrp, but was 4―330 times more efficient than that by human TrpRS. The mutant MPH7 (G73, U72 and C68 in O. sativa mito- chondrial tRNA were all replaced by the counterpart residues from human tRNATrp and showed a great change in aminoacylation efficiency. Our results in- dicate that the species-specific identity elements of O. sativa mitochondrial tRNATrp are similar to bacterial and eukaryotic (cytoplasm). They are mainly located at the discriminator base, the first and the fifth pairs of bases, the discriminator base G73, two bases in the acceptor stem G1/U72 and U5/A68. 5Microelectrode arrays for monitoring neural activity in neural stem cells with modulation by glutamate in vitro显示文摘In this study, a 60-channel microelectrode array(MEA) was fabricated and used to monitor the neural spikes and local field potentials(LFPs) of neurons differentiated from rat neural stem cells in vitro. The neurons were grown on the MEA surface to detect neural signals. Glutamate(Glu) was used to modulate neural activity during experiments. To enhance detection performance, platinum nanoparticles were modified onto the microelectrode site surface. Glutamate stimulated neural spikes and LFPs were recorded using the MEA. The average spike amplitude was approximately 70 μV in the normal state. The spike amplitude increased by 29% from 70 μV to 90 μV with Glu modulation. The firing rate increased by 69% from 4.01 Hz to 6.8 Hz with Glu modulation. The LFP power increased from 326 μW in the normal state to 617 μW with Glu modulation in the 0–10 Hz frequency band. Data analysis shows that neural activity stimulated by Glu modulation was recorded experimentally at high temporal-spatial resolution. 6Anthraquinone Covalently Modified Carbon Nanotubes for Efficient and Steady Electrocatalytic H2O2 Generation显示文摘Anthraquinone(AQ)modified carbon materials could be endowed with significantly improved oxygen re-duction reaction(ORR)activity.However,the application of these materials in the generation of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)has been rarely investigated.For this motivation,AQ covalently modified carbon nanotube(AQ-CNT)was pur-posely synthesized for H2O2 generation.It was found that the cumulative H2O2 concentration reached up to 187.18 mg(Lh)over AQ(40)-CNT catalyst,nearly 2.0 times higher than that over CNT,and being superior to those over most carbon materials reported.The enhanced activity stemmed from the improved mass transfer fficiency of oxygen and the enhanced electrocatalytic activity.Noteworthily,the AQ(40)-CNT material exhibited satisfactory stability for H2O2 generation,which was ascribed to the strong interaction force of C-N covalent bond.The present work could provide a vital idea for designing electrode material with simultancously improved activity and stability for H2O2 gencration.YU Fangyuan WANG Kai WANG Chuan HE Xinxia LIAO Yang ZHAO Shilin MAO Hui LI Xiaoting MA Jun 2020Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2020,36,6:1
7Grid cell remapping under three-dimensional object and social landmarks detected by implantable microelectrode arrays for the medial entorhinal cortex显示文摘Grid cells with stable hexagonal firing patterns in the medial entorhinal cortex(MEC)carry the vital function of serving as a metric for the surrounding environment.Whether this mechanism processes only spatial information or involves nonspatial information remains elusive.Here,we fabricated an MEC-shaped microelectrode array(MEA)to detect the variation in neural spikes and local field potentials of the MEC when rats forage in a square enclosure with a planar,three-dimensional object and social landmarks in sequence.The results showed that grid cells exhibited rate remapping under social conditions in which spike firing fields closer to the social landmark had a higher firing rate.Furthermore,global remapping showed that hexagonal firing patterns were rotated and scaled when the planar landmark was replaced with object and social landmarks.In addition,when grid cells were activated,the local field potentials were dominated by the theta band(5–8 Hz),and spike phase locking was observed at troughs of theta oscillations.Our results suggest the pattern separation mechanism of grid cells in which the spatial firing structure and firing rate respond to spatial and social information,respectively,which may provide new insights into how the brain creates a cognitive map.Zhaojie Xu Fan Mo Gucheng Yang Penghui Fan Yiding Wang Botao Lu Jingyu Xie Yuchuan Dai Yilin Song Enhui He Shihong Xu Juntao Liu Mixia Wang Xinxia Cai 2022Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,5:0
8Nanomaterial-based microelectrode arrays for in vitro bidirectional brain–computer interfaces:a review显示文摘A bidirectional in vitro brain–computer interface(BCI)directly connects isolated brain cells with the surrounding environment,reads neural signals and inputs modulatory instructions.As a noninvasive BCI,it has clear advantages in understanding and exploiting advanced brain function due to the simplified structure and high controllability of ex vivo neural networks.However,the core of ex vivo BCIs,microelectrode arrays(MEAs),urgently need improvements in the strength of signal detection,precision of neural modulation and biocompatibility.Notably,nanomaterial-based MEAs cater to all the requirements by converging the multilevel neural signals and simultaneously applying stimuli at an excellent spatiotemporal resolution,as well as supporting long-term cultivation of neurons.This is enabled by the advantageous electrochemical characteristics of nanomaterials,such as their active atomic reactivity and outstanding charge conduction efficiency,improving the performance of MEAs.Here,we review the fabrication of nanomaterial-based MEAs applied to bidirectional in vitro BCIs from an interdisciplinary perspective.We also consider the decoding and coding of neural activity through the interface and highlight the various usages of MEAs coupled with the dissociated neural cultures to benefit future developments of BCIs.Yaoyao Liu Shihong Xu Yan Yang Kui Zhang Enhui He Wei Liang Jinping Luo Yirong Wu Xinxia Cai 2023Microsystems & Nanoengineering2023,9,1:0
9Bacillus amyloliquefaciens 40 regulates piglet performance,antioxidant capacity,immune status and gut microbiota显示文摘Probiotics can improve animal growth performance and intestinal health.Bacillus species,Lactobacillus species,Bifidobacterium species,yeast etc.are the common types of probiotics.However,understanding the effects of probiotics on the immune status and gut microbiota of weaning piglets and how the probiotics exert their impact are still limited.This study aimed to investigate the effects of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens 40(BA40)on the performance,immune status and gut microbiota of piglets.A total of 12 litters of newborn piglets were randomly divided into 3 groups.Piglets in control group were orally dosed with phosphate buffered saline;BA40 group and probiotics group were orally gavaged with resuspension BA40 and a probiotics product,respectively.The results showed that BA40 treatment significantly decreased(P<0.05)the diarrhea incidence(from d 5 to 40),diamine oxidase,D-lactate,interleukin(IL)-1βand interferon-γconcentrations compared with control group and probiotics group.Meanwhile BA40 dramatically increased the total antioxidant capacity,IL-10 and secretory immunoglobulin-A concentrations in contrast to control group.For the microbial composition,BA40 modulated the microbiota by improving the abundance of Bacteroides,Phascolarctobacterium(producing short-chain fatty acids)and Desulfovibrio and reducing the proliferation of pathogens(Streptococcus,Tyzzerella,Vellionella and paraeggerthella).Meanwhile,a metabolic function prediction explained that carbohydrate metabolism and amino acid metabolism enriched in BA40 group in contrast to control group and probiotics group.For correlation analysis,the results demonstrated that BA40-enriched Phascolarctobacterium and Desulfovibrio provide insights into strategies for elevating the health status and performance of weaned piglets.Altogether,BA40 exerted stronger ability in decreasing diarrhea incidence and improved antioxidant activity,gut barrier function and immune status of piglets than the other treatments.Our study provided the experimental and theoretical basis for the application of BA40 in pig production.Zipeng Jiang Weifa Su Wentao Li Chaoyue Wen Shuai Du Huan He Yu Zhang Tao Gong Xinxia Wang Yizhen Wang Mingliang Jin Zeqing Lu 2023Animal Nutrition2023,,1:0
