1Bioinspired Ultra-Low Adhesive Energy Interface for Continuous 3D Printing: Reducing Curing Induced Adhesion显示文摘Additive manufacturing based on liquid resin curing is one of the most promising methods to construct delicate structures.However,precision and speed are limited by the vertical adhesion of in situ cured resin at the curing interface.To overcome the unavoidable adhesion and to develop a general curing interface,we propose a slippery surface taking inspiration of the peristome surface of the pitcher plant.Such surface shows ultra-low adhesive energy at the curing interface due to the inhibition of the direct contact between the cured resin and the solid surface,which also increases the reflling speed of liquid resin.Tis ultra-low adhesive energy interface is efective for continuous 3D printing and provides insights into the physical mechanisms in reducing vertical solid-solid interfacial adhesion.L.Wu ZDong H.Du CLi N.X.Fang Y.Song 2018Research2018,,1:11
2Tailoring grain growth and solid solution strengthening of single-phase CrCoNi medium-entropy alloys by solute selection显示文摘In the present study,we selected solutes to be added to the Cr Co Ni medium-entropy alloy(MEA)based on the mismatch of self-diffusion activation energy(SDQ)between the alloying elements and constituent elements of the matrix,and then investigated their grain growth behavior and mechanical properties.Mo and Al were selected as the solutes for investigation primarily because they have higher and lower SDQ,respectively,than those of the matrix elements;a secondary factor was their higher and lower shear modulus.Their concentrations were fixed at 3 at.%each because previous work had shown these compositions to be single-phase solid solutions with the face-centered cubic structure.Three alloys were produced by arc melting,casting,homogenizing,cold rolling and annealing at various temperatures and times to produce samples with different grain sizes.They were(a)the base alloy Cr Co Ni,(b)the base alloy plus 3 at.%Mo,and(c)the base alloy plus 3 at.%Al.The activation energies for grain growth of the Cr Co Ni,Cr Co Ni-3Mo and CrCo Ni-3Al MEAs were found to be^251,~368 and^219 k J/mol,respectively,consistent with the notion that elements with higher SDQ(in this study Mo)retard grain growth(likely by a solute-drag effect),whereas those with lower values(Al)accelerate grain growth.The roomtemperature tensile properties show that Mo increases the yield strength by^40%but Al addition has a smaller strengthening effect consistent with their relative shear moduli.The yield strength as a function of grain size for the three single-phase MEAs follows the classical Hall-Petch relationship with much higher slopes(>600 MPaμm-0.5)than traditional solid solutions.This work shows that the grain growth kinetics and solid solution strengthening of the Cr Co Ni MEA can be tuned by selecting solute elements that have appropriate diffusion and physical properties.G.W.Hu L.C.Zeng H.Du X.W.Liu Y.Wu P.Gong Z.T.Fan Q.Hu E.P.George 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,54,19:2

8Robust design approach to the minimization of functional performance variations of products and systems显示文摘Functional performance variations of products and systems are often used to measure the qualities of products and systems considering the changes in the design parameter values caused by uncertainties.A robust design approach has been developed in this research to minimize the functional performance variations considering the design parameter uncertainties by identifying the boundaries of the functional performance variations through optimization.In this work,a mathematical model is developed to describe the relationships among functional performance,design configurations and parameters,and design parameter uncertainties.A multi-level optimization model is established to identify:(1)The optimal design configuration,(2)the optimal values of design parameters,and(3)the boundaries of functional performance variations.Sensitivity analysis considering the impact of parameter uncertainties on functional performance variation boundaries has also been conducted.A case study on the design of a truss system has been conducted.Case study results show that the sensitivities of functional performance variation boundaries to the design parameter uncertainties can be reduced significantly using the new robust design approach.J.ZHANG H.DU D.XUE P.GU 2021Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2021,16,2:0
