| 4 | Updates in advanced diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging techniques in the evaluation of prostate cancer显示文摘Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging(DWMRI) is considered part of the standard imaging protocol for the evaluation of patients with prostate cancer.It has been proven valuable as a functional tool for qualitative and quantitative analysis of prostate cancer beyond anatomical MRI sequences such as T2-weighted imaging. This review discusses ongoing controversies in DW-MRI acquisition, including the optimal number of b-values to be used for prostate DWI, and summarizes the current literature on the use of advanced DWMRI techniques. These include intravoxel incoherent motion imaging, which better accounts for the nonmono-exponential behavior of the apparent diffusion coefficient as a function of b-value and the influence of perfusion at low b-values. Another technique is diffusion kurtosis imaging(DKI). Metrics from DKI reflect excess kurtosis of tissues, representing its deviation from Gaussian diffusion behavior. | 5 | Acute effects of physical exercise in type 2 diabetes: A review显示文摘The literature has shown the efficiency of exercise in the control of type 2 diabetes(T2D), being suggested as one of the best kinds of non-pharmacological treatments for its population. Thus, the scientific production related to this phenomenon has growing exponentially. However, despite its advances, still there is a lack of studies that have carried out a review on the acute effects of physical exercise on metabolic and hemodynamic markers and possible control mechanisms of these indicators in individuals with T2 D, not to mention that in a related way, these themes have been very little studied today. Therefore, the aim of this study was to organize and analyze the current scientific production about the acute effects of physical exercise on metabolic and hemodynamic markers and possible control mechanisms of these indicators in T2 D individuals. For such, a research with the following keywords was performed:-exercise; diabetes and post-exercise hypotension; diabetes and excess post-exercise oxygen consumption; diabetes and acute effects in PUBMED, SCIELO and HIGHWIRE databases. From the analyzed studies, it is possible to conclude that, a single exercise session can promote an increase in the bioavailability of nitric oxide and elicit decreases in postexercise blood pressure. | 8 | 口服低衰减胃肠道造影剂在腹盆部CT中的应用显示文摘Background: We designed and evaluated a low-attenuation oral contrast agent for abdominal-pelvic computed tomography (CT). Methods: In vitro studies, were performed initially to evaluate the imaging characteristics of multiple solutions. These studies resulted in two solutions being compared with the presently accepted oral CT agents of dilute iodinated contrast and water. Ninety-eight consec utive subjects already scheduled for routine outpatient abdominal-pelvic CT were enrolled. Subjects were randomized to water (n = 30), fiber solution (n = 32), polyethylene glycol (PEG; n = 11), or dilute iodinated solution (DI; n = 25). Examinations were then evaluated for gastric distention, small bowel distention, small bowel wall visualization, and colonic transit. A questionnaire was given to the study subjects for feedback concerning taste and potential side effects from these agents. Results: PEG tended to provide better bowel distention, wall visualization, and colonic transit compared with water, fiber solution, and DI. Areas of statistical significance included: (1) average bowel diameter in the left upper quadrant for water was 17.50 mm, whereas that for PEG was 21.88 mm (p < 0.05); (2) average bowel diameter in the pelvis for water was 14.79mm, that for fiber was 15.67mm, and that for PEG was 18.48 mm (p < 0.05); (3) wall visualizati on was better with PEG than with fiber (p < 0.05); (4) successful transit of contrast to the colon occurred in every subject who received PEG compared with only 20%of those received water and 39%of those who received fiber (p < 0.05). Similar trends for the superiority of PEG over DI were noted, although many of these did not reach statistical significance. | 10 | Imaging shallow structure with active-source surface wave signal recorded by distributed acoustic sensing arrays显示文摘Distributed acoustic sensing(DAS) is one recently developed seismic acquisition technique that is based on fiber-optic sensing. DAS provides dense spatial spacing that is useful to image shallow structure with surface waves.To test the feasibility of DAS in shallow structure imaging,the PoroTomo team conducted a DAS experiment with the vibroseis truck T-Rex in Brady's Hot Springs, Nevada, USA.The Rayleigh waves excited by the vertical mode of the vibroseis truck were analyzed with the Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves(MASW) method. Phase velocities between5 and 20 Hz were successfully extracted for one segment of cable and were employed to build a shear-wave velocity model for the top 50 meters. The dispersion curves obtained with DAS agree well with the ones extracted from co-located geophones data and from the passive source Noise Correlation Functions(NCF). Comparing to the co-located geophone array, the higher sensor density that DAS arrays provides help reducing aliasing in dispersion analysis, and separating different surface wave modes. | 20 | Axial strain enhances osteotomy repair with a concomitant increase in connexin43 expression显示文摘The mechanical environment is known to influence fracture healing. We speculated that connexin43(Cx43) gap junctions, which impact skeletal homeostasis, fracture healing and the osteogenic response to mechanical load,may play a role in mediating the response of the healing bone to mechanical strain. Here, we used an established rat fracture model, which uses a 2 mm osteotomy gap stabilized by an external fixator, to examine the impact of various cyclical axial loading protocols(2%, 10%, and 30% strain) on osteotomy healing. We examined the presence of Cx43 in the osteotomy-healing environment and assessed how mechanical strain modulates Cx43 expression patterns in the callus. We demonstrated that increased cyclical axial strain results in increased radiographic and histologic bone formation. In addition, we show by immunohistochemistry that Cx43 is abundantly expressed in the healing callus, with the expression most robust in samples exposed to increased cyclical axial strain.
