1NMR-based damage characterisation of backfill material in host rock under dynamic loading显示文摘It is not uncommon that backfill material used in underground mining being exposed to repetitive dynamic stresses induced by blasting operations or rockburst events. Understanding the strength and fracture evolution of backfilled stopes is critical to maintain the long-term stope stability and ensure safe mining activities. This paper aims to study the damage evolution of the backfill material and its host rock behaviour under three-dimensional(3D) dynamic loading. Using a true-triaxial testing machine, multiple samples of backfill material enclosed by country rock were fabricated and tested under various dynamic loadings with different true-triaxial confining stress conditions. In addition, the nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) measurement was conducted on the samples before and after exerting static and dynamic loading to obtain their porosity distribution changes. The experiment results suggested that with the increase of the dynamic loading, the porosity of the backfill sample goes through a two-stage process, which shows a slightly linear decrease and then followed by an exponential increase. The research findings can help understand the damage mechanism and fracture development of backfilled stopes and its host rock in deep underground mines, which are constantly subject to the combination of 3D static confining stress and dynamic loading.Binglei Li Jiquan Lan Guangyao Si Guopeng Lin Liuqing Hu 2020International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,3:16
2Accelerated evolution of an Lhx2 enhancer shapes mammalian social hierarchies显示文摘Social hierarchies emerged during evolution, and social rank influences behavior and health of individuals. However, the evolutionary mechanisms of social hierarchy are still unknown in amniotes. Here we developed a new method and performed a genome-wide screening for identifying regions with accelerated evolution in the ancestral lineage of placental mammals, where mammalian social hierarchies might have initially evolved. Then functional analyses were conducted for the most accelerated region designated as placental-accelerated sequence 1(PAS1,P=3.15 × 10^-18).Multiple pieces of evidence show that PAS1 is an enhancer of the transcription factor gene Lhx2 involved in brain development.PAS1s isolated from various amniotes showed different c/s-regulatory activity in vitro, and affected the expression of Lhx2 differently in the nervous system of mouse embryos.PAS1 knock-out mice lack social stratification.PAS1 knock-in mouse models demonstrate that PAS1s determine the social dominance and subordinate of adult mice, and that social ranks could even be turned over by mutated PAS1.All homozygous mutant mice had normal huddled sleeping behavior, motor coordination and strength.Therefore,PAS1-Lhx2 modulates social hierarchies and is essential for establishing social stratification in amniotes, and positive Darwinian selection on PAS1 plays pivotal roles in the occurrence of mammalian social hierarchies.Yuting Wang Guangyi Dai Zhili Gu Guopeng Liu Ke Tang Yi-Hsuan Pan Yujie Chen Xin Lin Nan Wu Haoshan Chen Su Feng Shou Qiu Hongduo Sun Qian Li Chuan Xu Yanan Mao Yong Edward Zhang Philipp Khaitovich Yan-Ling Wang Qunxiu Liu Jing-Dong Jackie Han Zhen Shao Gang Wei Chun Xu Naihe Jing Haipeng Li 2020Cell Research2020,30,5:4
3Melatonin mitigates cold-induced damage to pepper seedlings by promoting redox homeostasis and regulating antioxidant profiling显示文摘This study assessed the influence of exogenous ME in the mitigation of cold damage in pepper seedlings. Melatonin(ME) is a dynamic molecule that helps plants cope with stress in several ways. Cold stress(CS) is one of the most important environmental factors that restrict plant growth and yield. Pepper(Capsicum annuum L.) is a valuable commercial crop, highly sensitive to CS. Thus, identifying an efficient strategy to mitigate cold damage is critical for long-term pepper production. For this purpose, the roots of pepper seedlings were pretreated with ME(5 μmol · L^(-1)) and exposed to CS for 7 d. The results indicated that CS suppressed pepper growth, hampered photosynthetic capacity, and damaged root architecture in pepper plants. In contrast, the production of reactive oxygen species(ROS), malondialdehyde(MDA), electrolyte leakage(EL), proline, and soluble sugars were enhanced in plants under CS. ME(5 μmol · L^(-1)) pretreatment reduced the negative effects of CS by recovering plant growth, root traits, gas exchange elements, and pigment molecules compared to CS control treatment. Furthermore, ME application efficiently reduced oxidative stress markers [hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)), superoxide ion(O_(2)^(·-)), EL, and MDA] while increasing proline and soluble sugar content in pepper leaves. ME application combined with CS further increased antioxidant enzymes and related gene expression. Collectively, our results confirmed the mitigating potential of ME supplementation for CS by maintaining pepper seedling growth, improving the photosynthesis apparatus, regulating pigments, and osmolyte content.Muhammad Ahsan Altaf Yuanyuan Hao Huangying Shu Weiheng Jin Chuhao Chen Lin Li Yu Zhang Muhammad Ali Mumtaz Huizhen Fu Shanhan Cheng Guopeng Zhu Zhiwei Wang 2024Horticultural Plant Journal2024,10,2:0
4Continual driver behaviour learning for connected vehicles and intelligent transportation systems: Framework, survey and challenges显示文摘Modelling, predicting and analysing driver behaviours are essential to advanced driver assistance systems(ADAS)and the comprehensive understanding of complex driving scenarios.Recently, with the development of deep learning(DL),numerous driver behaviour learning(DBL)methods have been proposed and applied in connected vehicles(CV)and intelligent transportation systems(ITS).This study provides a review of DBL,which mainly focuses on typical applications in CV and ITS.First,a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art DBL is presented.Next,Given the constantly changing nature of real driving scenarios, most existing learning-based models may suffer from the so-called“catastrophic forgetting,”which refers to their inability to perform well in previously learned scenarios after acquiring new ones.As a solution to the aforementioned issue, this paper presents a framework for continual driver behaviour learning(CDBL)by leveraging continual learning technology. The proposed CDBL framework is demonstrated to outperform existing methods in behaviour prediction through a case study. Finally, future works, potential challenges and emerging trends in this area are highlighted.Zirui Li Cheng Gong Yunlong Lin Guopeng Li Xinwei Wang Chao Lu Miao Wang Shanzhi Chen Jianwei Gong 2023Green Energy and Intelligent Transportation2023,2,4:0
