1Postharvest Chitosan Treatment Induces Resistance in Potato Against Fusarium sulphureum显示文摘The effects of chitosan treatment and inoculation on dry rot in tubers and slices of potato were studied. The results showed that chitosan treatment significantly reduced the lesion diameter of potato inoculated with Fusarium sulphureum. The treatment at 0.25% showed the best effect. Chitosan at 0.25% increased the activities of peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase,and the contents of flavonoid compounds and lignin in tissues. Increased activities of β-1,3-glucanase,and phenylalanine ammonialyase were observed,but there were no significant differences between the treated and the control. 2Induces Resistance Against Fusarium and Pink Rots by Acibenzolar-S-Methyl in Harvested Muskmelon (cv.Yindi)显示文摘Acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) is a chemical activator of systematic resistance in many plants. The effect of preharvest and postharvest application of ASM was evaluated for its ability to induce resistance in muskmelon fruit. The results indicated that 50 and 100 mg L-1 ASM or 1 mL L-1 imazalil at 1 week or 1 day before harvest were effective in reducing the lesion area with 100 mg L-1 ASM the most effective. No treatment inhibited the infection rate. The postharvest results showed that 50 and 100 mg L-1 ASM,and 0.1 mL L-1 imazalil were effective in reducing the lesion area with 100 mg L-1 ASM the most effective. No treatment inhibited the infection rate. There was a clear time-dependent response of the fruit to postharvest ASM treatment,in which treatments applied 1,3,and 5 day before inoculation provided the best results. ASM did not demonstrate any fungicide effect in vitro and suppressed lesion area in treated muskmelons,indicating that disease resistance was induced. 3The HuangZaoSi Maize Genome Provides Insights into Genomic Variation and Improvement History of Maize显示文摘Maize is a globally important crop that was a classic model plant for genetic studies. Here, we report a 2.2 Gb draft genome sequence of an elite maize line, HuangZaoSi (HZS). Hybrids bred from HZS-improved lines (HILs) are planted in more than 60% of maize fields in China. Proteome clustering of six completed sequeneed maize genomes show that 638 proteins fall into 264 HZS-specific gene families with the majority of contributions from tandem duplication events. Resequencing and comparative analysis of 40 HZSrelated lines reveals the breeding history of HILs. More than 60% of identified selective sweeps were clustered in identity.by.descent conserved regions, and yield-related genes/QTLs were enriched in HZS characteristic selected regions. Furthermore, we dem on strated that HZS-specific family genes were not uniformly distributed in the genome but enriched in improvement/function.related genomic regions. 4VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS OF FLUID-STRUCTURE INTERACTION OF CONICAL SPIRAL TUBE BUNDLE显示文摘Heat transfer enhancement is achieved by flow-induced vibration in elastic tube bundles heat exchangers.For a further understanding of heat transfer enhancement mechanism and tube structure optimization,it is of importance to study the vibration characteristics of fluid-structure interaction of tube bundles.The finite element method is applied in the study of fluid-structure interaction of a new type elastic heat transfer element,i.e.,the dimensional conical spiral tube bundle.The vibration equation and element matrix for the tube are set up by the regulation of different helical angles and coordinate transformation,together with the simplification of the joint body of the two pipes.The vibration characteristics of conical spiral tube bundle are analyzed at different velocities of the tube-side flow,and the critical velocity of vibration buckling is obtained.The results show that the natural frequency of the tube bundle decreases as the flow speed increases,especially for the first order frequency,and the critical velocity of vibration buckling is between 1.2665 m/s-1.2669 m/s.The vibration mode of conical spiral tube bundle is mainly z-axial,which is feasible to be induced and controlled.YAN Ke GE Pei-qi BI Wen-bo SU Yan-cai HU Rui-rong 2010Journal of Hydrodynamics2010,22,1:13
5Antifungal Activity of Chitosan on Fusarium sulphureum in Relation to Dry Rot of Potato Tuber显示文摘The antifungal activity of chitosan on Fusarium sulphureum in relation to the inhibitory effect on dry rot of potato tuber was investigated. The results showed spore germination and mycelial growth of F. sulphureum were inhibited by chitosan treatment and the inhibitory effect was highly correlated with chitosan concentration used in this study. Morphological changes such as intertwisting hyphal, distortion, and swelling with excessive branching were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation further indicated the ultrastructural alterations of hyphae. These changes included abnormal distribution of cytoplasma, non-membraneous inclusion bodies assembling in cytoplasm, considerable thickening of the hyphal cellular walls, and very frequent septation with malformed septa. Application of chitosan at higher concentration caused serious damage to fungal hyphae, including cellular membrane disorganisation, cell wall disruption, and breaking of inner cytoplast. New hyphae (daughter hyphae) inside the collapsed hyphal cells was often detected in the cytoplasm of chitosan-treated hyphae. In vivo tests showed that chitosan treatment at 0.5 or 1% effectively controlled the dry rot of potato tuber inoculated with a spore suspension of F. sulphureum. However, the chitosan treatment at 1% caused phytotoxicity to potato tuber. 6Trace Elements Characteristics of Black Shales from the Ediacaran Doushantuo Formation, Hubei Province, South China: Implications for Redox and Open vs. Restricted Basin Conditions显示文摘In the present study, we carried out trace element analyses of black shales of the Ediacaran Doushantou Formation from two sections(Jiulongwan, Baiguoyuan) in Hubei Province, South China. Mo-U characteristics of black shales from the two sections and compiled Mo-U data of Doushantuo black shales from sections of a variety of sedimentary facies described the temporal/spatial variability in the redox conditions of paleo-seawater during deposition of the Doushantuo Formation. Changes in Mo-U patterns of the Doushantuo Member Ⅱ(DST2) shales of open marine environments are consistent with a shift from a predominately oxic to a predominately anoxic ocean during their deposition. Mo-U patterns of the DST2 black shales from intra-shelf sections reflect basin restriction may have happened in the intra-shelf basin and are compatible with the redox-stratified model of the intra-shelf basin. Mo-U patterns of black shales of the Doushantuo Member IV(DST4) reveal that the shales from intra-shelf sections have more pronounced Mo enrichment and more significant enrichment of Mo over U than the slope shales, indicating the operation of a Mn particulate shuttle in the intra-shelf basin. 8Chrysanthemum WRKY15-1 promotes resistance to Puccinia horiana Henn. via the salicylic acid signaling pathway显示文摘Chrysanthemum white rust disease,which is caused by the fungus Puccinia horiana Henn.,severely reduces the ornamental quality and yield chrysanthemum.WRKY transcription factors function in the disease-resistance response in a variety of plants;however,it is unclear whether members of this family improve resistance to white rust disease in chrysanthemum.In this study,using PCR,we isolated a WRKY15 homologous gene,CmWRKY15-1,from the resistant chrysanthemum cultivar C029.Real-time quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR)revealed that CmWRKY15-1 exhibited differential expression patterns between the immune cultivar C029 and the susceptible cultivar Jinba upon P.horiana infection.In addition,salicylic acid(SA)treatment strongly induced CmWRKY15-1 expression.Overexpression of CmWRKY15-1 in the chrysanthemum-susceptible cultivar Jinba increased tolerance to P.horiana infection.Conversely,silencing CmWRKY15-1 via RNA interference(RNAi)in C029 increased sensitivity to P.horiana infection.We also determined that P.horiana infection increased both the endogenous SA content and the expression of salicylic acid biosynthesis genes in CmWRKY15-1-overexpressing plants,whereas CmWRKY15-1 RNAi plants exhibited the opposite effects under the same conditions.Finally,the transcript levels of pathogenesis-related(PR)genes involved in the SA pathway were positively associated with CmWRKY15-1 expression levels.Our results demonstrated that CmWRKY15-1 plays an important role in the resistance of chrysanthemum to P.horiana by influencing SA signaling.Mengmeng Bi Xueying Li Xin Yan Di Liu Ge Gao Pengfang Zhu Hongyu Mao 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:9
9Solvent Effects on the Ultrastructure and Chemical Composition of Cuticular Wax and Its Potential Bioactive Role Against Alternaria alternata in Pingguoli Pear显示文摘Effects of different polarity solvents on the ultrastructure and chemical composition of cuticular wax in Pingguoli pear as well as their bioactive role against Alternaria alternate were studied and the results showed that the highest wax content was extracted with chloroform, and its wax content was up to 322.2 μg cm-2. Long-chain fatty acids predominated in menthol extracts and n-alkanes were predominant in wax extracted with ether, chloroform and n-hexane. Pingguoli pear fruit surface was covered by a smooth and amorphous wax layer with small, scattered crystal. The morphology of recrystallized wax in vitro after removal with different solvents was not similar to that of the intact fruit surface. Removal of cuticular wax with various solvents signifi cantly enhanced A. alternata infection, except for wax removed by methanol. 10Ascorbic acid secretion in the human stomach and the effect of gastrin显示文摘AIM To investigate the changes of gastricmucosal ascorbic acid secretion in patients withnonulcer dyspepsia and the effect of gastrin onit,and to relate any observed changes to H.pylori infection and mucosal histology.METHODS Ascorbic acid secretions in patientswere examined by collecting continuouslygastric juice for one hour after having aspiratedand discarded fasting gastric juice.Using theclearance rate(mL/min)of ascorbic acid fromblood to gastric juice represented ascorbic acidsecretion in the gastric mucosa.Ascorbic acidconcentrations in plasma and juice weremeasured by ferric reduced method.RESULTS Gastric ascorbic acid secretions inH.pylori-positive patients(1.46 mL/min,range0.27-3.78)did not significantly differ fromthose in H.pylori-negative patients(1.25 mL/min,0.47-3.14)(P>0.05).There were nosignificant differences in ascorbic acidsecretions between patients with mild(1.56 mL/min,0.50-3.30),moderate(1.34 mL/min,0.27-2.93)and severe(1.36 mL/min,0.47-3.78)inflammation(P>0.05).There were nosignificant differences in ascorbic acidsecretions between patients without activity(l.45mL/min,0.27-3.14)and with mild(1.32mL/min,0.61-2.93),moderate(1.49mL/min,0.50-3.78)and severe(1.43 mL/min,0.51-3.26)activity of chronic gastritis either(P>0.05).Ascorbic acid secretions in patientswith severe atrophy(0.56 mL/min,0.27-1.20)were markedly lower than those in patientswithout atrophy(1.51 mL/min,0.59-3.30)and with mild(1.43 mL/ min,0.53-3.78)andmoderate(1.31 mL/min,0.47-3.16)atrophy(P<0.005).There was a significant negativecorrelation between ascorbic acid secretion andseverity of atrophy(correlation coefficient=-0.43,P<0.005).After administration ofpentagastrin,ascorbic acid secretions weremarkedly elevated(from 1.39 mL/min,0.36-2.96 to 3.53mL/min,0.84-5.91)(P<0.001).CONCLUSION Ascorbic acid secretion ingastric mucosa is not affected by H.pyloriinfection.Gastric ascorbic acid secretion ismarkedly related to the severity of atrophy,whereas not related to the severity ofinflammation and activity.Gastrin may stimulategastric ascorbic acid secretion.A decreasedascorbic acid secretion may be an importantfactor in the link between atrophic gastritis andgastric carcinogenesis.Bi Guang Tuo Yong Hui Yan Zheng Long Ge Gang Wei Ou Kui Zhao 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,5:6
11Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome patterns and Qi-regulating,chest-relaxing and blood-activating therapy on cardiac syndrome X显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To master the syndrome patterns characteristics and explore the effective therapy methods ofTraditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) for cardiac syndrome X(CSX).METHODS:The TCM syndrome characteristics were mastered and the TCM intervention programs were determined by clinical investigations for TCM syndrome patterns characteristics of CSX patients.Then,the clinical efficacy studies on TCM intervention for CSX were carried out through randomized controlled trials.RESULTS:CSX is a clinical syndrome with the main manifestations of chest pain and chest stuffiness,and Qi stagnation,phlegm retention and blood stasis are the basic symptoms of CSX.As a result,the Qi-regulating,chest-relaxing and blood-activating therapy integrated with some Western Medicines was adopted for treatment.The effect of Qi-regulating,chest-relaxing and blood-activating therapy can reduce the frequency and degree of angina,improve the symptoms and exercise the tolerance of patients,inhibit the inflammatory response of vascular walls and protect the function of vascular endothelial cells,which is better than that of the simple and conventionalWestern Medicine alone.CONCLUSION:A good effect was achieved in the integration of Chinese and Western Medicines for CSX.The therapy is worthy to be applied further in clinical practice.On the other hand,more long-term and randomised controlled studies with large samples are still required to further determine the clinical efficacy and safety of the therapy.Yingfei Bi Jingyuan Mao Xianliang Wang Yongbin Ge Henghe Wang Zhenpeng Zhang 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,2:6

13Smoking and Its Relation to Metabolic Status among Chinese Adults: Analysis of a Nationwide Survey显示文摘Objective To update the estimated prevalence rates of smoking and examine major metabolic diseases associated with smoking status in Chinese adults. Methods Using a complex, multistage, probability sampling design, we recruited a nationally representative sample of 98,658 Chinese adults aged ≥18 years in 2010. Information on current, former, never, and passive smoking status was obtained using a standard questionnaire. All estimates were weighted to represent the overall Chinese adult population. Results The estimated proportion of current smokers was 28.3% for Chinese adults aged ≥18 years. The corresponding values of former and passive smokers were 5.1% and 21.4%, respectively. Additionally, former smokers were found to have a less favorable metabolic risk profile among all categories of smoking status in both men and women. The prevalence of metabolic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension also increased with a greater number of smoking pack-years in men. 14Control of Postharvest Fusarium Rot and Trichothecium Rot in Harvested Muskmelon (cv. Yindi) by Harpin显示文摘Preharvest and postharvest application of Harpin was evaluated for its ability to induce resistance in muskmelon fruit and control rots. Preharvest treatments were 30 mg L-1, 60 mg L-1 Harpin or 1 mg L-1 Imazalil either 1 week or 1 day before harvest. The CK was untreated. Fruit were then inoculated with Fusarium semitectum or Trichothecium roseum 48 h after harvest, and stored at 23 ± 1°C, RH (relative humidity) 50-60% for 4 d. All treatments were effective in reducing the lesion area with 60 mg L-1 Harpin the most effectively. No treatments inhibited infection rate. Postharvest treatment was fruit dips of 30 mg L-1, 60 mg L-1 Harpin, 0.1 mg L-1 Imazalil. Fruit were inoculated with F. semitectum or T. roseum 24, 72, 120 or 168 h after treatment, and stored at 23 ± 1°C, RH 50-60% for 4 days. All treatments were effective in reducing the lesion area with 60 mg L-1 Harpin the most effectively. No treatments inhibited the infection rate. 15Postharvest ASM or Harpin Treatment Induce Resistance of Muskmelons Against Trichothecium roseum显示文摘Induced resistance was studied in muskmelons (cv. Yindi) inoculated Trichothecium roseum with postharvest 1,2,3- benzothiadiazole-7-carbothioic acid S-methyl ester (ASM) (100 mg L-1) or harpin (50 mg L-1) treatment. Both ASM and harpin significantly reduced lesion diameter in inoculated fruit. Lesion diameter was limited in the treated and untreated halves of the same fruit, indicating that the local and systemic resistance was induced. Inhibiting efficacy of elicitors lasted 7 and 5 days in the treated and untreated halves. The resistance increased by the chemicals was associated with the activation of peroxidase (POD) and chitinase (CHT). The elicitors induced a significantly and progressively increasing activity of POD and CHT in the treated and untreated halves, and the activation lasted at least 5 days. The activities of POD isoenzymes increased in the treated fruit. 19Association between Coronary Atherosclerotic Plaque Composition and Cardiovascular Disease Risk显示文摘Objective The objective of this study is to determine whether coronary atherosclerotic plaque composition is associated with cardiovascular disease(CVD) risk in Chinese adults. Methods We performed a cross-sectional analysis in 549 subjects without previous diagnosis or clinical symptoms of CVD in a community cohort of middle-aged Chinese adults. The participants underwent coronary computed tomography(CT) angiography for the evaluation of the presence and composition of coronary plaques. CVD risk was evaluated by the Framingham risk score(FRS) and the 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD) risk score. Results Among the 549 participants, 267(48.6%) had no coronary plaques, 201(36.6%) had noncalcified coronary plaques, and 81(14.8%) had calcified or mixed coronary plaques. The measures of CVD risk including FRS and ASCVD risk score and the likelihood of having elevated FRS significantly increased across the groups of participants without coronary plaques, with noncalcified coronary plaques, and with calcified or mixed coronary plaques. However, only calcified or mixed coronary plaques were significantly associated with an elevated ASCVD risk score [odds ratio(OR) 2.41; 95% confidence interval(CI) 1.09-5.32] compared with no coronary plaques, whereas no significant association was found for noncalcified coronary plaques and elevated ASCVD risk score(OR 1.25; 95% CI 0.71-2.21) after multivariable adjustment. 20MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF TRANSVERSE VIBRATION OF CONICAL SPIRAL TUBE BUNDLE WITH EXTERNAL FLUID FLOW显示文摘The conical spiral tube bundle is a new type of heat transfer elements used to enhance heat transfer through flow-induced vibration.The effect of the external fluid flow on the transverse vibration of the conical spiral tube bundle is investigated with a mathematical method proposed in this article.Firstly,the natural vibration of the tube bundle is obtained by the hammering excitation method and the mode shapes of the transverse vibration are discussed.Then the effect of the external fluid flow on the transverse vibration of tube bundle is analyzed by a combination of experimental data,empirical correlations and FEM.The results show that in the frequency range from 0 Hz to 50 Hz,there exist six transverse vibrations.The external fluid flow has a significant effect on the frequency of the tube's transverse vibration,which are decreased by about 18% to 24% when the external fluid flow speed is 0.3 m/s.YAN Ke GE Pei-qi SU Yan-cai BI Wen-bo 2010Journal of Hydrodynamics2010,22,6:2
