2Overtaking behaviour of vehicles on undivided roads in non-lane based mixed traffic conditions显示文摘Traffic on Indian roads is highly mixed in nature with wide variations in the static and dynamic characteristics of vehicles. These vehicles do not follow strict lane discipline and occupy any available lateral position on the road space. Overtaking is one of the most complex and important manoeuvre on undivided roads where the vehicles use the opposing lane to overtake the slower vehicles with the presence of oncoming vehicles from opposite direction. They are unavoidable especially in the case of mixed traffic conditions where there is always a speed difference between the fast and slow moving vehicles.Overtaking process involves lane-changing manoeuvres, acceleration and deceleration actions and estimation of relative speed of overtaking and overtaken vehicles, and also,estimation of speed and distance of the oncoming vehicle. The main objective of the present study is to study the overtaking characteristics of vehicles on undivided roads under mixed traffic conditions. For this purpose, details of overtaking data were collected on a two-lane two-way undivided road using moving car observer method and registration plate method. The overtaking characteristics of all types of vehicles under mixed traffic conditions were observed and mathematically modelled.The data extracted and analysed were the acceleration characteristics, speeds of the overtaking vehicles, overtaking time, overtaking distances, safe opposing gap required for overtaking, flow rates, overtaking frequencies, types of overtaking strategy, and types of overtaking and overtaken vehicles. Two types of overtaking strategies were observed in the field such as flying overtaking and accelerative overtaking. Graphs were plotted between the relative speed of the overtaking and overtaken vehicles against the overtaking time and negative correlation was found between the speed differential and total overtaking time for all categories of vehicles. It was observed that the number of overtaking increases with increase in the flow rate in the on-going direction and decreases with increase in flow in the opposite direction. The results obtained from this study will be useful to understand the overtaking behaviour of vehicles in mixed and non-lane discipline traffic conditions. These parameters will be useful in the development of traffic simulations models for undivided roads and thereby for estimation of capacity. 3Characterization and bacterial toxicity of lanthanum oxide bulk and nanoparticles显示文摘This study evaluated the bacterial toxicity of lanthanum oxide micron and nano sized particles using shake flask method against gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria. Particle size, morphology and chemical composition were determined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Re-sults indicated that lanthanum oxide nanoparticles showed antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, but not against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It was speculated that lanthanum oxide produced this effect by interacting with the gram-positive bacte-rial cell wall. 6Structural,Optical,Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties of Zirconia Nanoparticles by Biobased Protocol显示文摘Biological entities and inorganic materials have been in constant touch with each other ever since inception of life on earth.This method has lots of merits such as not requiring complex procedures,template supporting etc.In this work,Aloe vera plant mediated synthesis of tetragonal zirconia nanoparticles has been performed and thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis(TG/DTA),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX),atomic force microscopy(AFM),ultraviolet—visible(UV—VIS) technique and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) have been provided for characterizing the nanoparticles.Formation of homogeneously distributed spherical zirconia nanoparticles of 50—100 nm in size is predicted.The antimicrobial and antifungal properties are also investigated for synthesis of zirconia nanoparticles and the treated cotton by agar diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacterial pathogens and fungal strains Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger,respectively.S. 7Development and validation of a high throughput UPLC–MS/MS method for simultaneous quantification of esomeprazole,rabeprazole and levosulpiride in human plasma显示文摘A high throughput ultra pressure liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry(UPLC–MS/MS) method with good sensitivity and selectivity has been developed and validated for simultaneous quantification of esomeprazole,rabeprazole and levosulpiride in human plasma using lansoprazole as internal standard(IS).The extraction method based on liquid–liquid extraction technique was used to extract the analytes and IS from of 50 mL of human plasma using methyl tert-butyl ether:ethyl acetate(80:20,v/v),which offers a high recovery.Chromatographic separation of analytes and IS was achieved on a Hypersil gold C_(18) column using gradient mobile phase consisting of 2 mM ammonium formate/acetonitrile.The flow rate was set at 0.5 mL/min to elute all the analytes and IS within 1.00 min runtime.Detection of target compounds was performed on a triple quadruple mass spectrometer by multiple reaction monitoring(MRM) mode via positive electrospray ionization(ESI).Method validation results demonstrated that the developed method has good precision and accuracy over the concentration ranges of 0.1–2000 ng/mL for each analyte.Stability of compounds was established in a battery of stability studies,i.e.,bench top,autosampler,dry extract and long-term storage stability as well as freeze-thaw cycles.The validated method has been successfully applied to analyze human plasma samples for application in pharmacokinetic studies.Raja Haranadha Babu Chunduri Gowri Sankar Dannana 2016Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2016,6,3:2

9Robust interface layers with redox shuttle reactions suppress the dendrite growth for stable solid-state Li metal batteries显示文摘Designing a durable lithium metal anode for solid state batteries requires a controllable and uniform deposition of lithium, and the metal lithium layer should maintain a good interface contact with solid state electrolyte during cycles. In this work, we construct a robust functional interface layer on the modified LiB electrode which considerably improves the electrochemical stability of lithium metal electrode in solid state batteries. It is found that the functional interface layer consisting of polydioxolane, polyiodide ion and Li TFSI effectively restrains the growth of lithium dendrites through the redox shuttle reaction of I-/I3-and maintains a good contact between lithium anode and solid electrolyte during cycles.
