1Multi-objective optimization of oil well drilling using elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm显示文摘A multi-objective optimization of oil well drilling has been carried out using a binary coded elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm. A Louisiana offshore field with abnormal formation pressure is considered for optimization. Several multi-objective optimization problems involving two-and three-objective functions were formulated and solved to fix optimal drilling variables. The important objectives are:(i) maximizing drilling depth,(ii) minimizing drilling time and(iii) minimizing drilling cost with fractional drill bit tooth wear as a constraint. Important time dependent decision variables are:(i) equivalent circulation mud density,(ii) drill bit rotation,(iii) weight on bit and(iv) Reynolds number function of circulating mud through drill bit nozzles. A set of non-dominated optimal Pareto frontier is obtained for the two-objective optimization problem whereas a non-dominated optimal Pareto surface is obtained for the three-objective optimization problem. Depending on the trade-offs involved, decision makers may select any point from the optimal Pareto frontier or optimal Pareto surface and hence corresponding values of the decision variables that may be selected for optimal drilling operation. For minimizing drilling time and drilling cost, the optimum values of the decision variables are needed to be kept at the higher values whereas the optimum values of decision variables are at the lower values for the maximization of drilling depth.Chandan Guria Kiran K Goli Akhilendra K Pathak 2014Petroleum Science2014,11,1:10
2Virulence factors of Enterococcus strains isolated from patients with inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘AIM: To determine the features of Enterococcus that contribute to the development and maintenance of the inflammatory process in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). METHODS: Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was applied to assess the presence of genes that encode virulence factors [surface aggregating protein (asa1), gelatinase (gelE), cytolysin (cylA), extracellular surface protein (esp) and hyaluronidase (hyl)] in the genomic DNA of 28 strains of Enterococcus isolated from the intestinal tissues of children with IBD (n =16) and of children without IBD (controls; n = 12). Additionally, strains with confirmed presence of the gelE gene were tested by PCR for the presence of quorum sensing genes (fsrA, fsrB, fsrC) that control the gelatinase production. Gelatinase activity was tested on agar plates containing 1.6% gelatin. We also analysed the ability of Enterococcus strains to release and decompose hydrogen peroxide (using Analytical Merckoquant peroxide test strips) and tested their ability to adhere to Caco-2 human gut epithelium cells and form biofilms in vitro. RESULTS: A comparison of the genomes of Enterococcus strains isolated from the inflamed mucosa of patients with IBD with those of the control group showed statistically significant differences in the frequency of theasa1 gene and thegelE gene. Furthermore, the cumulative occurrence of different virulence genes in the genome of a single strain ofEnterococcus isolated from the IBD patient group is greater than in a strain from the control group, although no significant difference was found. Statistically significant differences in the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and adherence to the Caco-2 epithelial cell line between the strains from the patient group and control group were demonstrated. The results also showed that profuse biofilm production was more frequent amongEnterococcus strains isolated from children with IBD than in control strains. 5Late Cenozoic seismic stratigraphy of the Andaman Forearc Basin,Indian Ocean显示文摘Interpretation of new multichannel seismic reflection data from the Andaman Forearc Basin(AFB) in the northern Indian Ocean is presented here. The highquality multichannel seismic data from the Andaman Forearc region enable us to examine the seismic characters and to demarcate seismic sequences bounded by distinct unconformities. Ages of marked seismic horizons have been calibrated with available litholog data from nearby industry boreholes. Seismic interpretation of new data shows that the AFB is filled with * 4.5-s-two way travel time(TWT) thick Neogene to Recent sediments. The entire basin assemblage exhibits two distinct major sequences pertaining to the Neogene and Quaternary times. A large part of the basin is filled with intermittent mass transport deposits(MTD). We infer that the episodic uplift of the Invisible Bank, protuberance of the outerarc and regular deformation through reactivation of preexisting normal faults since the Pleistocene could be attributed as causal mechanisms for the MTDs. Strong bottom simulating reflectors are identified in the Late Miocene and younger sediments of the outerarc and AFB at a depth of * 0.6 s TWT and correspond to the presence of gas hydrates in this region. 6Ternary MOF‑Based Redox Active Sites Enabled 3D‑on‑2D Nanoarchitectured Battery‑Type Electrodes for High‑Energy‑Density Supercapatteries显示文摘Designing rationally combined metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with multifunctional nanogeometries is of significant research interest to enable the electrochemical properties in advanced energy storage devices.Herein,we explored a new class of binderfree dual-layered Ni-Co-Mn-based MOFs(NCM-based MOFs)with three-dimensional(3D)-on-2D nanoarchitectures through a polarityinduced solution-phase method for high-performance supercapatteries.The hierarchical NCM-based MOFs having grown on nickel foam exhibit a battery-type charge storage mechanism with superior areal capacity(1311.4μAh cm^−2 at 5 mA cm^−2),good rate capability(61.8%;811.67μAh cm^−2 at 50 mA cm^−2),and an excellent cycling durability.The superior charge storage properties are ascribed to the synergistic features,higher accessible active sites of dual-layered nanogeometries,and exalted redox chemistry of multi metallic guest species,respectively.The bilayered NCM-based MOFs are further employed as a battery-type electrode for the fabrication of supercapattery paradigm with biomass-derived nitrogen/oxygen doped porous carbon as a negative electrode,which demonstrates excellent capacity of 1.6 mAh cm^−2 along with high energy and power densities of 1.21 mWh cm^−2 and 32.49 mW cm^−2,respectively.Following,the MOF-based supercapattery was further assembled with a renewable solar power harvester to use as a self-charging station for various portable electronic applications.Goli Nagaraju SChandra Sekhar Bhimanaboina Ramulu SkKhaja Hussain DNarsimulu Jae Su Yu 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,1:3
7Multifunctional core-shell-like nanoarchitectures for hybrid supercapacitors with high capacity and long-term cycling durability显示文摘Transition metal oxide/hydroxide with multif unctional hierarchical nano structures has attracted widespread attention in supercapacitors(SCs)because of their large accessible surface area,high electrochemical activity and superior redox chemistry.Herein,core-shell-like copper(Cu)hydroxide nano tube arrays grafted nickel aluminum layered double hydroxide n anosheets were facilely synthesized on porous Cu foam(CH NTAs@NiAI LDH NSs)for use as an efficient battery-type electrode in hybrid SCs.With the synergistic effects of NiAl LDH NSs on well-adhered CH NTAs/CF,the core-shell-like composite(prepared for 24 h)delivered a maximum areal capacity of 334.3 pAh/cm2 at a current density of 3 mA/cm2 in 2 M KOH electrolyte,which is comparatively higher than other samples synthesized at different growth times.Moreover,the core-shell-like CH NTAs@NiAI LDH NSs-24 demonstrated an outstanding cycling stability of 134.3%after 10,000 cycles.Utilizing high capacity and stability of CH NTAs@NiAI LDH NSs-24,a pouch-type hybrid SC was further assembled with core-shell-like composite as a positive electrode and reduced graphene oxide as a negative electrode with a filter paper as a separator in aqueous alkaline electrolyte.The hybrid SC showed a high areal capacity of 250 pAh/cm2 at 2 mA/cm2 with maximum areal energy and power densities of 181.9 pWh/cm2 and 24,991.5 pW/cm2,respectively.Successfully harvest!ng the solar energy via solar cell panel and subsequently delivering the stored en ergy to switching and proximity applicati ons also dem on strated the real-time applicability of our hybrid SCs.S.Chandra Sekhar Goli Nagaraju Bhimanaboina Ramulu Sk.Khaja Hussain D.Narsimulu Jae Su Yu 2019Nano Research2019,12,10:2
