1Hepatectomy with primary closure of common bile duct for hepatolithiasis combined with choledocholithiasis显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the feasibility of hepatectomy and primary closure of common bile duct for intrahepatic and extrahepatic calculi. METHODS: From January 2008 to May 2013, anatomic hepatectomy followed by biliary tract exploration without biliary drainage(non-drainage group) was performed in 43 patients with intrahepatic and extrahepatic calculi. After hepatectomy, flexible choledochoscopy was used to extract residual stones and observe the intrahepatic bile duct and common bile duct(CBD) for determination of biliary stricture and dilatation. Function of the sphincter of Oddi was determined by manometry of the CBD. Primary closure of the CBD without T-tube drainage or bilioenteric anastomosis was performed when there was no biliary stricture or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. Dexamethasone and anisodamine were intravenously injected 2-3 d after surgery to prevent postoperative retrograde infection due to intraoperative bile duct irrigation, and to maintain relaxation of the sphincter of Oddi, respectively. During the same period, anatomic hepatectomy followed by biliary tract exploration with biliary drainage(drainage group) was performed in 48 patients as the control group. Postoperative complications and hospital stay were compared between the two groups.RESULTS: There was no operative mortality in either group of patients. Compared to intrahepatic and extrabiliary drainage, hepatectomy with primary closure of the CBD(non-drainage) did not increase the incidenceof complications, including residual stones, bile leakage, pancreatitis and cholangitis(P > 0.05). Postoperative hospital stay and costs were nevertheless significantly less in the non-drainage group than in the drainage group. The median postoperative hospital stay was shorter in the non-drainage group than in the drainage group(11.2 ± 2.8 d vs 15.4 ± 2.1 d, P = 0.000). The average postoperative cost of treatment was lower in the non-drainage group than in the drainage group(29325.6 ± 5668.2 yuan vs 32933.3 ± 6235.1 yuan, P = 0.005). 2Expansion and differentiation of human hepatocyte-derived liver progenitor-like cells and their use for the study of hepatotropic pathogens显示文摘The study of pathophysiological mecha nisms in huma n liver disease has bee n constrained by the in ability to expa nd primary hepatocytes in vitro while maintaining proliferative capacity and metabolic function. We and others have previously shown that mouse mature hepatocytes can be con verted to liver progenitor-like cells in vitro with defined chemical factors. Here we describe a protocol achieving efficient conversion of human primary hepatocytes into liver progenitor-like cells (HepLPCs) through delivery of developmentally relevant cues, including NAD +-dependent deacetylase SIRT1 signaling. These HepLPCs could be expanded sign ifica ntly duri ng in vitro passage. The expa nded cells can readily be con verted back into metabolically functional hepatocytes in vitro and upon tran splantati on in vivo. Under three-dime nsional culture conditions, differentiated cells gen erated from HepLPCs regai ned the ability to support infect io n or reactivatio n of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Our work dem on strates the utility of the con versi on betwee n hepatocyte and liver proge nitor-like cells for studying HBV biology and an tiviral therapies. 4Anatomic resection of liver segments 6-8 for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To report the devised anatomic liver resection of segments 6,7 and 8 to improve the resection rate for patients with right liver tumors.METHODS:We performed anatomic liver resection of segments 6,7 and 8 to guarantee the maximum preservation of the remaining normal liver tissue.Segment 5 was determined by two steps of Glissonean pedicle occlusion.And a'┏┛'shaped broken resection line was marked upon the diaphragmatic surface of the liver.Selective right hemihepatic inflow occlusion was used to reduce blood loss during parenchymal transection between segments 6 and 5 and between segments 8 and 5.If needed,total hepatic Glissonean pedicle occlusion was used during parenchymal transection between segment 8 and the left liver.RESULTS:Compared to right hemihepatectomy,the percentage of future liver remnant volume was increased by an average of 13.9%if resection of segments 6,7 and 8 was performed.Resection of segments 6,7 and 8 was completed uneventfully.After hepatectomy,the inflow and outflow of segment 5were maintained.There was no perioperative mortality,postoperative abdominal bleeding or bile leakage in this group.Alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)returned to the normal range within 2 mo after the operation in all the patients.One patient died 383 d postoperatively due to obstructive suppurative cholangitis.One patient suffered from severe liver dysfunction shortly after surgery and had intrahepatic recurrence 4 mo postoperatively.Postoperative lung metastasis was found in one patient.No tumor recurrence was found in the other patients and the parameters including liver function and AFP level were in the normal range.CONCLUSION:Anatomic liver resection of segments6,7 and 8 can be a conventional operation to improve the overall resection rate for hepatocellular carcinoma.Chang-Ku Jia Jie Weng You-Ke Chen Yu Fu 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,15:8

6In vivo flow cytometry reveals a circadian rhythm of circulating tumor cells显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)is an established biomarker of cancer metastasis.The circulation dynamics of CTCs are important for understanding the mechanisms underlying tumor cell dissemination.Although studies have revealed that the circadian rhythm may disrupt the growth of tumors,it is generally unclear whether the circadian rhythm controls the release of CTCs.In clinical examinations,the current in vitro methods for detecting CTCs in blood samples are based on a fundamental assumption that CTC counts in the peripheral blood do not change significantly over time,which is being challenged by recent studies.Since it is not practical to draw blood from patients repeatedly,a feasible strategy to investigate the circadian rhythm of CTCs is to monitor them by in vivo detection methods.Fluoresce nee in vivo flow cytometry(IVFC)is a powerful optical technique that is able to detect fluoresce nt circulating cells directly in living animals in a noninvasive manner over a long period of time.In this study,we applied fluorescence IVFC to monitor CTCs noninvasively in an orthotopic mouse model of human prostate cancer.We observed that CTCs exhibited stochastic bursts over cancer progression.The probability of the bursting activity was higher at early stages than at late stages.We longitudinally monitored CTCs over a 24-h period,and our results revealed striking daily oscillations in CTC counts that peaked at the onset of the night(active phase for rodents),suggesting that the release of CTCs might be regulated by the circadian rhythm.Xi Zhu Yuanzhen Suo Yuting Fu Fuli Zhang Nan Ding Kai Pang Chengying Xie Xiaofu Weng Meilu Tian Hao He Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,6:6

8Short-term link quality prediction using nonparametric time series analysis显示文摘Wireless link quality prediction(LQP) is the foundation for proactive operations and is therefore a key technique in alleviating network performance degradation. However, accurate LQP is difficult because of the dynamic nature of wireless environments. A recent study found that fluctuations in intermediate quality links often show dynamics on a sub-second granularity, making the task even more challenging. In order to leverage the intermediate links, as well as fine-tune upper-layer protocols, we propose to use nonparametric modeling in nonlinear time series analysis that predicts short-term link quality online. Unlike existing studies,we do not define any new experimental or hypothetical models, or train models using a set of training data.Functional-coefficient autoregression is employed to predict the link dynamics at high time resolutions. We apply our approach and a local linear regression-based LQP(a typical parametric modeling approach) to both NS-2 simulation and empirical packet traces. 9Transgenic rice expressing a novel phytase-lactoferricin fusion gene to improve phosphorus availability and antibacterial activity显示文摘The developing trends of livestock production are efficiency,safety and sustainability,which face two major challenges:low availability of phytate phosphorus and abuse of antibiotics.As a solution phytases and antimicrobial peptides are applied as feed additives.However,phytases and antimicrobial peptides are susceptible to proteases,costly by fermentation and potential toxic to production hosts.We transformed an optimized phytase-lactoferricin fusion gene PhyLf driven by an endosperm-specific promoter Gt13aP and Bar(bialaphos resistance) gene as a selection maker into rice.The Bar and PhyLf genes were integrated into the rice genome,stably inherited and expressed.Their phosphinothricin acetyl transferase(PAT)protein content oftransgenic plants with glufosinate resistance varied between 50.45-93.39 ugg^(-1).Fusion protein expressed especially in the seeds oftransgenic rice had a summit phytase activity at 32.30Ug^(-1) which increased by 61.71-fold compared to the control/check group(CK) and 7.54-fold compared to un-optimized transgenic plant.The highest inorganic phosphorus(Pi) content of the transgenic seeds reached 13.15 mg g^(-1) increased by 12.77-fold compared to that of CK.Preliminary antibacterial experiments showed that the enterokinase hydrolysate product of fusion protein could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli DH5a.These results indicated that the protein PhyLf has the potential to increase availability of feed phytate phosphorus,improve consumer's immunity and reduce the use of antibiotics.WANG Zuo-ping DENG Li-hua WENG Lü-shui DENG Xiang-yang FU Xi-qin XIN Ye-yun XIAO Guo-ying 2017Journal of Integrative Agriculture2017,16,4:4
10Microglia modulation with 1070-nm light attenuates Aβ burden and cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease mouse model显示文摘Photobiomodulation,by utilizing low-power light in the visible and near-infrared spectra to trigger biological responses in cells and tissues,has been considered as a possible therapeutic strategy for Alzheimer’s disease(AD),while its specific mechanisms have remained elusive.Here,we demonstrate that cognitive and memory impairment in an AD mouse model can be ameliorated by 1070-nm light via reducing cerebralβ-amyloid(Aβ)burden,the hallmark of AD.The glial cells,including microglia and astrocytes,play important roles in Aβclearance.Our results show that 1070-nm light pulsed at 10 Hz triggers microglia rather than astrocyte responses in AD mice.The 1070-nm lightinduced microglia responses with alteration in morphology and increased colocalization with Aβare sufficient to reduce Aβload in AD mice.Moreover,1070-nm light pulsed at 10 Hz can reduce perivascular microglia and promote angiogenesis to further enhance Aβclearance.Our study confirms the important roles of microglia and cerebral vessels in the use of 1070-nm light for the treatment of AD mice and provides a framework for developing a novel therapeutic approach for AD.Lechan Tao Qi Liu Fuli Zhang Yuting Fu Xi Zhu Xiaofu Weng Hongbin Han Yong Huang Yuanzhen Suo Liang Chen Xiaoling Gao Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,10:4
11Classification of brain arteriovenous malformations located in motor-related areas based on location and anterior choroidal artery feeding显示文摘Objective Surgical management of arteriovenous malformations(AVMs)involving motor cortex or fibre tracts(M-AVMs)is challenging.This study aimed to construct a classification system based on nidus locations and anterior choroidal artery(AChA)feeding to pre-surgically evaluate motor-related and seizure-related outcomes in patients undergoing resection of M-AVMs.Methods and materials A total of 125 patients who underwent microsurgical resection of M-AVMs were retrospectively reviewed.Four subtypes were identified based on nidus location:(I)nidus involving the premotor area and/or supplementary motor areas;(II)nidus involving the precentral gyrus;(III)nidus involving the corticospinal tract(CST)and superior to the posterior limb of the internal capsule;(IV)nidus involving the CST at or inferior to the level of posterior limb of the internal capsule.In addition,we divided type IV into type IVa and type IVb according to the AChA feeding.Surgical-related motor deficit(MD)evaluations were performed 1 week(short-term)and 6 months(long-term)after surgery.Results The type I patients exhibited the highest incidence(62.0%)of pre-surgical epilepsy among the four subtypes.Multivariate analysis showed that motor-related area subtypes(p=0.004)and diffuse nidus(p=0.014)were significantly associated with long-term MDs.Long-term MDs were significantly less frequent in type I than in the other types.Type IV patients acquired the highest proportion(four patients,25.0%)of long-term poor outcomes(mRS>2).Type IVb patients showed a significantly higher incidence of post-surgical MDs than type IVa patients(p=0.041).The MDs of type III or IV patients required more recovery time.Of the 62 patients who had pre-surgical seizures,90.3%(56/62)controlled their seizures well and reached Engel class I after surgery.Conclusions Combining the consideration of location and AChA feeding,the classification for M-AVMs is a useful approach for predicting post-surgical motor function and decision-making.Yuming Jiao Hao Li Weilun Fu Jiancong Weng Ran Huo Yinyan Wang Shuo Wang Tao Jiang Yong Cao Ji Zong Zhao 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,3:4

14Application of imputation methods to genomic selection in Chinese Holstein cattle显示文摘Missing genotypes are a common feature of high density SNP datasets obtained using SNP chip technology and this is likely to decrease the accuracy of genomic selection. This problem can be circumvented by imputing the missing genotypes with estimated genotypes. When implementing imputation, the criteria used for SNP data quality control and whether to perform imputation before or after data quality control need to consider. In this paper, we compared six strategies of imputation and quality control using different imputation methods, different quality control criteria and by changing the order of imputation and quality control, against a real dataset of milk production traits in Chinese Holstein cattle. The results demonstrated that, no matter what imputation method and quality control criteria were used, strategies with imputation before quality control performed better than strategies with imputation after quality control in terms of accuracy of genomic selection. The different imputation methods and quality control criteria did not significantly influence the accuracy of genomic selection. 15Proteomic profiling of early degenerative retina of RCS rats显示文摘AIM: To identify the underlying cellular and molecular changes in retinitis pigmentosa(RP).METHODS: Label-free quantification-based proteomics analysis, with its advantages of being more economic and consisting of simpler procedures, has been used with increasing frequency in modern biological research. Dystrophic RCS rats, the first laboratory animal model for the study of RP, possess a similar pathological course as human beings with the diseases. Thus, we employed a comparative proteomics analysis approach for in-depth proteome profiling of retinas from dystrophic RCS rats and non-dystrophic congenic controls through Linear Trap Quadrupole-orbitrap MS/MS, to identify the significant differentially expressed proteins(DEPs). Bioinformatics analyses, including Gene ontology(GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) pathway annotation and upstream regulatory analysis, were then performed on these retina proteins. Finally, a Western blotting experiment was carried out to verify the difference in the abundance of transcript factor E2F1.RESULTS: In this study, we identified a total of 2375 protein groups from the retinal protein samples of RCS rats and non-dystrophic congenic controls. Four hundred thirty-four significantly DEPs were selected by Student's t-test. Based on the results of the bioinformatics analysis, we identified mitochondrial dysfunction and transcription factor E2F1 as the key initiation factors in early retinal degenerative process.CONCLUSION: We showed that the mitochondrial dysfunction and the transcription factor E2F1 substantially contribute to the disease etiology of RP. 16Flotation performance of a novel Gemini collector for kaolinite at low temperature显示文摘How to sustainably produce bauxite by effective reverse froth flotation of kaolinite at low temperature is an urgent problem to be solved in the field of mineral processing.In this work,a novel amino-based Gemini surfactant butadiyl-1,4-bis(dimethyl dodecylammonium bromide)(BBDB) was prepared and first utilized as a novel collector for kaolinite flotation.Its flotation performance for kaolinite was compared with that of the common monomolecular surfactant 1-dodecylamine(DDA) by micro-flotation tests.The tests results indicated that 95% kaolinite recovery was obtained using 2.0×10^(-4) mol/L BBDB at 25℃ which was half of the dosage when DDA obtained the maximum kaolinite recovery of81%.At extremely low temperature(0℃),3.0×10^(-4) mol/L BBDB could still collect 91% kaolinite,while DDA showed a frustrating ability.The contact angle tests indicated that BBDB could still significantly improve the hydrophobicity of the kaolinite surface(contact angle 71.7°) than DDA(contact angle only25.8°) at 0℃.The Krafft point comparison tests indicated that BBDB had a much lower Krafft point(below0℃) than DDA.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)-spectrum analysis and zeta potential measurements showed that BBDB was physically adsorbed on the surface of kaolinite through electrostatic interaction.Shiyong Zhang Zhiqiang Huang Hongling Wang Rukuan Liu Chen Cheng Shuyi Shuai Yajing Hu Zhiqun Guo Xinyang Yu Guichun He Weng Fu 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,6:2
17Experimental quantum secure network with digital signatures and encryption显示文摘Cryptography promises four information security objectives,namely,confidentiality,integrity,authenticity and non-repudiation,to support trillions of transactions annually in the digital economy.Efficient digital signatures,ensuring integrity,authenticity and non-repudiation of data with information-theoretical security are highly urgent and intractable open problems in cryptography.Here,we propose a high-efficiency quantum digital signature(QDS)protocol using asymmetric quantum keys acquired via secret sharing,one-time universal_(2)hashing and a one-time pad.We just need to use a 384-bit key to sign documents of lengths up to 2~(64)with a security bound of 10^(-19).If a one-megabit document is signed,the signature efficiency is improved by more than 10~8 times compared with previous QDS protocols.Furthermore,we build the first all-in-one quantum secure network integrating information-theoretically secure communication,digital signatures,secret sharing and conference key agreement and experimentally demonstrate this signature efficiency advantage.Our work completes the cryptography toolbox of the four information security objectives.Hua-Lei Yin Yao Fu Chen-Long Li Chen-Xun Weng Bing-Hong Li Jie Gu Yu-Shuo Lu Shan Huang Zeng-Bing Chen 2023National Science Review2023,10,4:2
18Effect of Boron on Delayed Fracture Resistance of Medium-Carbon High Strength Spring Steel显示文摘The delayed fracture behavior of medium-carbon high strength spring steel containing different amounts of boron (0.000 5%, 0.001 6%) was studied using sustained load delayed fracture test. The results show that delayed fracture resistance of boron containing steels is higher than that of conventional steel 60Si2MnA at the same strength level and it increases with the increase of boron content from 0.000 5% to 0.001 6%. The delayed fracture mode is mainly intergranular in the boron containing steels tempered at 350 ℃, which indicates that the addition of boron does not change the fracture character. However, the increase of boron content enlarges the size of the crack initiation area. 19Temperature-and thickness-dependence of robust out-of-plane ferroelectricity in CVD grown ultrathin van der Waals a-In2Se3 layers显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)ferroelectric materials with unique structure and extraordinary optoelectrical properties have attracted intensive research in the field of nanoelectronic and optoelectronic devices,such as optical sensors,transistors,photovoltaics and non-volatile memory devices.However,the transition temperature of the reported ferroelectrics in 2D limit is generally low or slightly above room temperature,hampering their applications in high-temperature electronic devices.Here,we report the robust high-temperature ferroelectricity in 2D a-In2Se3,grown by chemical vapor depostion(CVD),exhibiting an out-of-plane spontaneous polarization reaching above 200℃.The polarization switching and ferroelectric domains are observed in In2Se;nanoflakes in a wide temperature range.The coercive field of the CVD grown ferroelectric layers ilustrates a room-temperature thickness dependency and increases drastically when the film thickness decreases;whereas there is no large variance in the coercive field at dfterent termperature from the samples with identical thickness.The results show the stable ferroelectricit of In2Se3 nanoflakes maintained at high temperature and open up the opportunities of 2D materials for novel applications in high-temperature nanoelectronic devices.Weng Fu Io Shuoguo Yuan Sin Yi Pang Lok Wing Wong Jiong Zhao Jianhua Hao 2020Nano Research2020,13,7:2
