Simulation of energy and water balance in Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere Transfer system in the mountain area of Heihe River Basin at Hexi Corridor of northwest China显示文摘In the mountain area of inland Heihe River Basin at Hexi Corridor of northwest China during the vegetation growing season from May to September, the Simultaneous Heat and Water (SHAW) model of Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere Transfer (SVAT) system is applied to simulating and studying energy and water balance of the soil-residue-plant canopy layers in the Picea crassifolia forest and the grassland by the forest at the shaded slope and the grassland at the sun-facing slope. The simulation of energy balance indicates that net radiation of the grass- land at the sun-facing slope is more than that of the Picea crassifolia forest and the grassland by the forest at the shaded slope. The energy outgoing components are the first latent heat and next sensible heat from the grassland both at the shaded slope and the sun-facing slope, but those at the former are less. The energy outgoing components are the first sensible heat and next latent heat from the Picea crassifolia forest. The composition and distribution of energy in the soil-residue-plant canopy layers in the Picea crassifolia forest and the grassland by the forest at the shaded slope make the soil layer receive less energy, which therefore, especially the forest possesses the energy conditions for soil water conservation. The simulation of water balance indicates that the water loss of the grassland at the sun-facing slope is mainly caused by soil evaporation, while evapotranspiration of the Picea crassifolia forest and the grassland by the forest at the shaded slope is less than that of the grassland at the sun-facing slope. Half of the evapotranspiration of the Picea crassifolia forest and the grassland by the forest at the shaded slope is consumed by transpiration. After precipitation, the soil water storage is increased much more for the Picea crassifolia forest and also more for the grassland by the forest at the shaded slope. Therefore the shaded slope vegetation, especially the forest is favorable for soil water storage. | KANG Ersi1, CHENG Guodong1, , SONG Kechao1, JIN Bowen1, , LIU Xiande3 2 3 & WANG Jinye3 1. | 2 | Synchronous estimation of DTM and fractional vegetation cover in forested area from airborne LIDAR height and intensity data显示文摘We proposed a method to separate ground points and vegetation points from discrete return, small footprint airborne laser scanner data, called skewness change algorithm. The method, which makes use of intensity of laser scanner data,is especially applicable in steep, and forested areas. It does not take slope of forested area into account, while other algorithms consider the change of slope in steep forested area. The ground points and vegetation points can be used to estimate digital terrain model(DTM) and fractional vegetation cover, respectively.A few vegetation points which were classified into the ground points were removed as noise before the generation of DTM.This method was tested in a test area of 10000 square meters.A LiteMapper -5600 laser system was used and a flight was carried out over a ground of 700―800 m.In this tested area,a total number of 1546 field measurement ground points were measured with a total station TOPCON GTS-602 and TOPCON GTS -7002 for validation of DTM and the mean error value is -18.5 cm and the RMSE(root mean square error) is ±20.9 cm.A data trap sizes of 4m in diameter from airborne laser scanner data was selected to compute vegetation fraction cover.Validation of fractional vegetation cover was carried out using 15 hemispherical photographs, which are georeferenced to centimeter accuracy by differential GPS.The gap fraction was computed over a range of zenith angles 10° using the gap light analyzer(GLA) from each hemispherical photograph. The R2 for the regression of fractional vegetation cover from these ALS data and the respective field measurements is 0.7554.So this study presents a method for synchronous estimation of DTM and fractional vegetation cover in forested area from airborne LIDAR height and intensity data. | BAO YunFei1,2,CAO ChunXiang1,ZHANG Hao1,CHEN ErXue3,HE QiSheng1,2,HUANG HuaBing1,LI ZengYuan3,LI XiaoWen1,4 & GONG Peng1 1 State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science, jointly sponsored by the Institute for Remote Sensing Applications of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Normal University,Beijing 100101,China 2 Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100049,China 3 Institute of Forest Resource Information Technique, the Chinese Academy of Forestry,Beijing 100091,China 4 Research Center for Remote Sensing and GIS,Department of Geography and Beijing Key Laboratory for Remote Sensing of Environment and Digital Sites,Beijing Normal University,Beijing 100875,China | 2008 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,S2: | 10
Monitoring of rice crop using ENVISAT ASAR data显示文摘Because of the cloudy conditions during the rice growth period, rice is one of the agri-cultural crops most suited to monitoring with the SAR instruments. Backscatter response measured by SAR is correlated with rice conditions, including height, density, biomass and structure, which are variable at different growing stages. In this paper, multi-date ENVISAT ASAR Alternating Polarization Mode (APMode) imageries were acquired during the rice crop growing cycle. At the same time, the rice parameters were measured in field. A continuous canopy model was used to compute the back-scattering from rice fields during the growth cycle, and the relationship between rice parameters and radar backscattering coefficients from both ASAR and modeling was analyzed. The effects of polari-zation, incidence angle and polarization on radar backscattering coefficients were analyzed. It was found that simulated radar backscatter has similar trends as ASAR data. This will be meaningful for the further research of rice parameters estimation from ASAR data. Different features show signifi-cantly different signatures in ASAR images and they follow some certain laws, so rice area can be accurately mapped by using multi-temporal SAR images, then rice yield can be estimated. | DONG Yanfang1, 2, SUN Guoqing1,3 & PANG Yong4 1. | 4 | Remote sensing based shrub above-ground biomass and carbon storage mapping in Mu Us desert,China显示文摘The estimation of above-ground biomass(AGB) and carbon storage is very important for arid and semi-arid ecosystems.HJ-1A/B satellite data combined with field measurement data was used for the estimation of shrub AGB and carbon storage in the Mu Us desert,China. The correlations of shrub AGB and spectral reflectance of four bands as well as their combined vegetation indexes were respectively analyzed and stepwise regression analysis was employed to establish AGB prediction equation. The prediction equation based on ratio vegetation index(RVI)was proved to be more suitable for shrub AGB estimation in the Mu Us desert than others.Shrub AGB and carbon storage were mapped using the RVI based prediction model in final. The statistics showed the western Mu Us desert has relatively high AGB and carbon storage, and that the gross shrub carton storage in Mu Us desert reaches 16 799 200 t,which has greatly contributed to the carbon fixation in northern China. | XU Min 1,2,CAO ChunXiang 1,TONG QingXi 1,LI ZengYuan 3,ZHANG Hao 1,HE QiSheng 1,2,GAO MengXu 1,2,ZHAO Jian 1,2,ZHENG Sheng 1,2,CHEN Wei 1,2 & ZHENG LanFen 1 1State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science,Jointly Sponsored by the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Normal University,Beijing 100101,China 2 Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100049,China 3 Research Institute of Forest Resources and Information Techniques,Chinese Academy of Forestry,Beijing 10009,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,S1: | 5
The microarray analysis for gene expression in haploids and diploids derived from twin-seedling rice显示文摘In this study, microarray technique was employed to analyze the gene expression at the RNA level between haploids and corresponding diploids derived from a rice twin-seedling line SARII-628. Differ- ent degrees of expression variations were observed in the plant after haploidization. The main results are as follows: (1) after haploidization, the ratio of the sensitive loci was 2.47% of the total loci designed on chip. Those loci were randomly distributed on the 12 pairs of rice chromosomes and the activated loci were more than the silenced ones. (2) Gene clusters on chromosome were observed for 33 se- quences. (3) GoPipe function classification for 575 sensitive loci revealed an involvement in the bio- logical process, cell component and molecular function. (4) RT-PCR generally validated the result from microarray with a coincidence rate of 83.78%. And for the randomly-selected activated or silenced loci in chip analysis, the coincidence rate was up to 91.86%. | ZHANG HongYu1,3, PENG Hai2*, LI PingChuan1, DENG QiMing1, XU PeiZhou1, LI Yun4, WANG XuDong1 & WU XianJun1,3 1 Rice Research Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University, Chengdu 611130, China 2 Laboratory of Germplasm and Genetics, College of Life Science, Jianghan University, Wuhan 430056, China 3 Key Laboratory of Southwest Crop Genetic Resources and Improvement, Ministry of Education, Sichuan Agricultural University, Ya′an 620514, China 4 Crop Research Institute of Agricultural and Forestal Science Academy of Chengdu, Chengdu 611130, China | 2008 | Science China(Life Sciences)2008,51,6: | 4
Analysis of forest backscattering characteristics based on polarization coherence tomography显示文摘It is difficult to make an inventory of vertical profiles of forest structure parameters in field measurements. However, analysis and understanding of forest backscattering characteristics contribute to estimation and detection of forest vertical structure because of the close relationships between backscattering characteristics and structure parameters. The vertical structure function in the complex interferometric coherence definition, which represents the vertical variation of microwave scattering with the penetration depth at a point in the 2-D radar image and can be used to analyze the forest backscattering characteristics, can be reconstructed from polarization coherence tomography(PCT).Based on PCT,the paper analyzes the forest backscattering characteristics and explores the inherent relationship between the result of PCT and the forest structure parameters from numerical simulation of Random Volume over Ground model(RVoG),Polarimetric SAR interferometry(PolInSAR)simulation of forest scene and PolInSAR data at L-band of the test site Traunstein.Firstly, the effects of the extinction coefficient and surface-to-volume scattering ratio in RVoG model on vertical backscattering characteristics are analyzed by means of numerical simulation.Secondly,by applying PCT to L-band POLInSAR simulations of forest scene, different variations of vertical backscattering due to different extinction coefficients and the ratios of surface-to-volume scattering resulting from different polarizations, forest types and densities are displayed and analyzed. Then a concept of relative average backscattering intensity is presented, and the factors which affect its vertical distribution are also discussed.Preliminary results show that there is high sensitivity of the vertical distribution of forest relative average backscattering intensity to the polarization, forest type and density. Finally, based on repeat pass DLR E-SAR L-band airborne POLInSAR data, the capability of PCT technology for detection of forest layer, type and density is discussed. | LUO HuanMin 1,LI XiaoWen 1,2,CHEN ErXue 3,CHENG Jian 4 & CAO ChunXiang 21 Institute of Geo-Spatial Information Science and Technology,University of Electronic Science and Technology of China,Chengdu 610054,China 2 State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science,Jointly Sponsored by the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Normal University,Beijing 100101,China 3Institute of Forest Resources Information Technique of Chinese Academy of Forestry,Beijing 100091,China 4 School of Electronic Engineering,University of Electronic Science and Technology of China,Chengdu 610054,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,S1: | 2
Threat and management strategies of potentially invasive insects in China显示文摘The Global Invasive Species Database, GISD, comprises 27 species of the most significant invasive alien insects in the world (through November, 2005), 6 of which are originally native to China, 11 are established in China, and 10 have a potential invasion threat to China. This paper discusses these species in terms of distribution, harmfulness and dispersal ways, and finds that: (i) Information re-garding invasive insects in the GISD remains inadequate. Such harmful invasive species as Opogona sacchari (Bojer), Oracella acuta (Lobdell), and Dendroctonus valens LeConte are not included. (ii) Ten species of invasive insects, particularly Lasius neglectus Van Loon and Linepithema humile (Mayr) which become established in areas near China, have the potential to become established in China. (iii) Special attention should be paid to species from Asia and the Americas because of their greater likeli-hood of becoming established in China. Finally, some management strategies including legislation, quarantine, early warning, prevention and control are suggested. | ZHANG RunZhi1, ZHANG YaPing2 & JIANG YouXu3 1 State Key Laboratory of Integrated Management of Pest Insects and Rodents in Agriculture, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101, China 2 Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yunnan, 650223, China 3 The Research Institute of Forest Ecology, Environment and Protection, The Chinese Academy of Forestry, Beijing 100091, China | 2009 | Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,10: | 2

Metal pollution in relation to mass outbreaks of Dendrolimus punctatus Walker on Pinus massoniana Lamb.in China显示文摘Insects with their ecological superpower have enormous capacity to transform small pollution damage in forests to full scale calamities. Acid rain resulting from extensive coal burning is the chief pollutant in China. Acid rain activates from soil deposits toxic metals, which are transferred to trees and further to insects eating them. We studied the levels of the toxic Cd, its antagonists Zn and Cu, and acid rain indicators Fe and Mn in the forest pest moth Dendrolimus punctatus Walker (Lepidoptera:Lasiocampidae) in variously polluted Pinus massoniana Lamb forests in China.\; The highest density of D. punctatus , as well as the highest Cd levels developed in the moderately polluted forests. Possibly Cd had there broken down the pest resistance of the pines. The paradoxical coexistence of high Cd level and elevated population density of the pest seems to result from the high accumulation of Cd in its ichneumonid parasitoid. In the most heavily polluted forests the Cd level in needles was low, possibly because the strong acid rain had washed away most of the Cd deposit in the soil. It existed there no D.punctatus population. Absence of pest insects from the most heavily polluted areas is a common phenomenon. | Pekka Nuorteva\+1, LI Tian\|sheng\+2, Esa Tulisalo\+3, HONG Pei\|zhi\+4 (1.Department of Limnology and Environmental Protection, Helsinki University, Caloniuksenkatu 6 C 64, FIN\|00100, Helsinki University, Finland 2.Research Institute of Forest Ecolo | 1999 | Journal of Environmental Sciences1999,11,4: | 0
Direct somatic embryogenesis from leaves, cotyledons and hypocotyls of Hippophae rhamnoides显示文摘Plant regeneration via direct somatic embryogenesis from cotyledons, hypocotyls and leaves in Hippophae rhamnoides L. was achieved. The influence of basal media, carbon sources, plant growth regulators (PGRs) with different concentrations and combinations on embryogenesis capacity of explants was studied. The highest frequency of somatic embryo production and germination was obtained on Schenk and Hildebrandt medium (SH) supplemented with 1.0 mg/L kinetin (KIN) and 0.2, 0.5 mg/L indole-3-butyric acid (IAA). Granulated sugar was the optimal carbon source. The embryo-derived plantlets with well-developed roots and shoots were transferred successfully to the greenhouse with a maximum survival rate of 55%. | 12 | Survey Study of Moso Bamboo Management Techniques Dissemination in Zhejiang显示文摘By PRA survey to 1 245 farmer households of 10 key Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) production counties, the source and demand of the management techniques in Zhejiang were studied. The conducted principal factor analysis revealed that experience and traditional knowledge are currently major technical sources of farmer households' Moso bamboo forest management techniques and that the demonstrative household is a highly expected technical source, in which the prime factor is interpersonal dissemination with the variable information making up 21.5% of the total. The paper thus suggests that following the nationwide collective forest tenure reform and forest land allocation to the households, the technical sources available to the households should be diversified, that technical training with site expert instruction be taken as priority in establishing demonstrative households for extension and that the current technical extension mode await improvement. | WANG Hong1,2XU Xiaowen3 JIN Aiwu3 LI Guodong3 FANG Wei 3 1. | 13 | Response of Spring Phenology of Main Gymnosperm to Climate Change in Harbin City Proper显示文摘Global climate change has caused phenology change of vegetation. This is especially obvious in urban area. This paper reveals response mechanism of spring phenology of main gymnosperm in Harbin City proper to climate change based on relationship study between two typical phenophases(beginning of bud burst and beginning of leaf expansion) of Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis),Koyama spruce(Picea koraiensis Nakai),needle fir(Abies nephrolepis) and Pinus sylvestnis var.mongolica Litv.and the temperature of every ten days in winter and spring through the phenology observation in Harbin proper from 1963 to 2008 and meteorological observation data from 1951 to 2008.Study conclusion shows the advancing trend of the beginning date of accumulated temperature that meets plant germination in Harbin City. The beginning of bud burst of P.koraiensis is mainly subject to temperature in middle and late February and the beginning pf leaf expansion is subject to temperature in middle and late March. The beginning of bud burst of P.koraiensis Nakai is mainly subject to temperature from late January to middle of February and leaf expansion is subject to temperature mainly in March and April. The beginning of bud burst of A.nephrolepis is mainly subject to temperature from January to March and leaf expansion time is subject to temperature in May.The beginning of bud burst of P.sylvestnis var.mongolica Litv.is mainly subject to the middle of March and the middle of April. The spring phenology of all these 4 selected species showed tremendous advancement. However the advancing trend of different species is varied. The impact level of temperature in each phase to spring phenology of different species is different. The spring phenology of all 4 selected species is prominently relevant to the temperature in earlier period before occurrence of phenology.Low temperature is a favor for breaking dormancy of plants.Suitable lower temperature is good for advancing spring phenology of plants.Temperature in Harbin is relatively lower in winter.Increase of temperature in winter is propitious to advancing of spring phenology of plants. | PEI Shunxiang 1,3 LI Changhai2 GUO Quanshui3 XIN Xuebing1 SUN Jianxin4 HONG Ming3 1.Experimental Centre of Forestry in North China,Chinese Academy of Forestry,Beijing 102300,R.P.China 2.Forest Botanical Garden,Hei Longjiang Province,Harbin 150040,R.P.China 3.Research Institute of Forest Ecology,Chinese Academy of Forestry,Beijing 100091,R.P.China 4.Beijing Forestry University,Beijing 100083,R.P.China | 2010 | Chinese Forestry Science and Technology2010,9,3: | 0
| 14 | Scale correlation between vegetation and soil in larch forest, NE China显示文摘After the analysis on the linages of species, the fractal dimensions of vegetation and soil in a managed larch(Larix gmelini) forest in Daxingan Mountains, NE China were estimated separately, and their scale correlation was discussed. (1) The dominant species of the larch forest, larch and the important accompany species, birch (Betula platyphylla) were homogeneously distributed along the transect. The other species were heterogeneous, and can be divided into three groups located on the right, left and central parts of the transect respectively. The transect can be separated into two parts at the position for the 29th quadrat(580m). (2) The fractal dimension in the large scale range from 200 to 400m was lower than that in the small scale range from 0 to 200m in the forest, indicating the different variation regularities of spatial heterogeneity in different scale ranges. The inflection point at 200m was one of the key scales of spatial hierarchy of the larch forest. (3) The scale variation of the forest was correlated with that of soil pH on large scales, which reflected the indirect control of the dominant species to the spatial pattern and species distribution of understorey by changing soil acidity in the forest and the indirect effects of forest management. | MA Ke ming 1, ZU Yuan gang 2, Michel Godron 3 (1.
