| 3 | Preliminary report on methane emissions from the Three Gorges Reservoir in the summer drainage period显示文摘Recently reported summertime methane (CH4) emissions (6.7 ± 13.3 mg CH4/(m2·hr)) from newly created marshes in the drawdown area of the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR), China have triggered broad concern in academic circles and among the public. The CH4 emissions from TGR water surfaces and drawdown areas were monitored from 3rd June to 16th October 2010 with floating and static chambers and gas chromatography. The average CH4 emission flux from permanently flooded areas in Zigui, Wushan and Yunyang Counties was (0.33 ± 0.09) mg CH4/(m2·hr). In half of these hottest months of the year, the wilderness, cropland and deforested drawdown sites were aerobic and located above water level, and the CH4 emissions were very small, ranging from a sink at 0.12 mg CH4/(m2·hr) to a source at 0.08 mg CH4/(m2·hr) except for one mud-covered site after flood. Mean CH4 emission in flooded drawdown sites was 0.34 mg CH4/(m2·hr). The emissions from the rice paddy sites in the drawdown area were averaged at (4.86 ± 2.31) mg CH4/(m2·hr). Excepting the rice-paddy sites, these results show much lower emission levels than previously reported. Our results indicated considerable spatial and temporal variation in CH4 emissions from the TGR. Human activities and occasional events, such as flood, may also affect emission levels. | 5 | Tibetan Plateau: An evolutionary junction for the history of modern biodiversity显示文摘Holding particular biological resources,the Tibetan Plateau is a unique geologic-geographic-biotic interactively unite and hence play an important role in the global biodiversity domain.The Tibetan Plateau has undergone vigorous environmental changes since the Cenozoic,and played roles switching from'a paradise of tropical animals and plants'to'the cradle of Ice Age mammalian fauna'.Recent significant paleontological discoveries have refined a big picture of the evolutionary history of biodiversity on that plateau against the backdrop of major environmental changes,and paved the way for the assessment of its far-reaching impact upon the biota around the plateau and even in more remote regions.Here,based on the newly reported fossils from the Tibetan Plateau which include diverse animals and plants,we present a general review of the changing biodiversity on the Tibetan Plateau and its influence in a global scale.We define the Tibetan Plateau as a junction station of the history of modern biodiversity,whose performance can be categorized in the following three patterns:(1)Local origination of endemism;(2)Local origination and'Out of Tibet';(3)Intercontinental dispersal via Tibet.The first pattern is exemplified by the snow carps,the major component of the freshwater fish fauna on the plateau,whose temporal distribution pattern of the fossil schizothoracines approximately mirrors the spatial distribution pattern of their living counterparts.Through ascent with modification,their history reflects the biological responses to the stepwise uplift of the Tibetan Plateau.The second pattern is represented by the dispersal history of some mammals since the Pliocene and some plants.The ancestors of some Ice Age mammals,e.g.,the wholly rhino,Arctic fox,and argali sheep first originated and evolved in the uplifted and frozen Tibet during the Pliocene,and then migrated toward the Arctic regions or even the North American continent at beginning of the Ice Age;the ancestor of pantherines(big cats)first rose in Tibetan Plateau during the Pliocene,followed by the disperse of its descendants to other parts of Asia,Africa,North and South America to play as top predators of the local ecosystems.The early members of some plants,e.g.,Elaeagnaceae appeared in Tibet during the Late Eocene and then dispersed and were widely distributed to other regions.The last pattern is typified by the history of the tree of heaven(Ailanthus)and climbing perch.Ailanthus originated in the Indian subcontinent,then colonized into Tibet after the Indian-Asian plate collision,and dispersed therefrom to East Asia,Europe and even North America.The climbing perches among freshwater fishes probably rose in Southeast Asia during the Middle Eocene,dispersed to Tibet and then migrated into Africa via the docked India.These cases highlight the role of Tibet,which was involved in the continental collision,in the intercontinental biotic interchanges.The three evolutionary patterns above reflect both the history of biodiversity on the plateau and the biological and environmental effects of tectonic uplift. | Tao DENG Feixiang WU Zhekun ZHOU Tao SU | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,2: | 10 |

| 7 | A deep-bodied ginglymodian fish from the Middle Triassic of eastern Yunnan Province,China,and the phylogeny of lower neopterygians显示文摘The Ginglymodi are a group of ray-finned fishes that make up one of three major subdivisions of the infraclass Neopterygii.Ex- tant ginglymodians are represented by gars,which inhabit freshwater environments of North and Central America and Cuba.Here, we report the discovery of well-preserved fossils of a new ginglymodian,Kyphosichthys grandei gen.et sp.nov.,from the Middle Triassic(Anisian)marine deposits(Guanling Formation)in Luoping,eastern Yunnan Province,China.The discovery documents the first known fossil record of highly deep-bodied ginglymodians,adding new information on the early morphological diversity of this group.The studies of functional morphology of extant deep-bodied fishes indicate that Kyphosichthys is not a fast swim- mer but has a good performance in precise maneuvering,representing a morphological adaptation to structurally complex habitats (e.g.thick macrophyte beds,rocky areas,or coral reefs),which differs from the other members of this group.A cladistic analysis with the new fish taxon included supports the hypothesis that the Ginglymodi are more closely related to the Halecomorphi than to the Teleostei.Represented by Felberia,Kyphosichthys,and Dapedium,a highly deep and short fish body type has inde- pendently evolved at least three times in the stem-group neopterygians,ginglymodians,and basal teleosts within the lower neop- terygians of the Triassic. | XU GuangHui WU FeiXiang | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,1: | 7 |
| 8 | Into Africa via docked India: a fossil climbing perch from the Oligocene of Tibet helps solve the anabantid biogeographical puzzle显示文摘The northward drift of the Indian Plate and its collision with Eurasia have profoundly impacted the evolutionary history of the terrestrial organisms, especially the ones along the Indian Ocean rim. Climbing perches(Anabantidae) are primary freshwater fishes showing a disjunct south Asian-African distribution,but with an elusive paleobiogeographic history due to the lack of fossil evidence. Here, based on an updated time-calibrated anabantiform phylogeny integrating a number of relevant fossils, the divergence between Asian and African climbing perches is estimated to have occurred in the middle Eocene(ca.40 Ma, Ma: million years ago), a time when India had already joined with Eurasia. The key fossil lineage is ?Eoanabas, the oldest anabantid known so far, from the upper Oligocene of the Tibetan Plateau.Ancestral range reconstructions suggest a Southeast Asian origin in the early Eocene(ca. 48 Ma) and subsequent dispersals to Tibet and then India for this group. Thereby we propose their westbound dispersal to Africa via the biotic bridge between India and Africa. If so, climbing perch precursors had probably followed the paleobiogeographical route of snakehead fishes, which have a slightly older divergence between African and Asian taxa. | 10 | Comprehensive strategy of conduit guidance combined with VEGF producing Schwann cells accelerates peripheral nerve repair显示文摘Peripheral nerve regeneration requires stepwise and well-organized establishment of microenvironment.Since local delivery of VEGF-A in peripheral nerve repair is expected to promote angiogenesis in the microenvironment and Schwann cells(SCs)play critical role in nerve repair,combination of VEGF and Schwann cells may lead to efficient peripheral nerve regeneration.VEGF-A overexpressing Schwann cells were established and loaded into the inner wall of hydroxyethyl cellulose/soy protein isolate/polyaniline sponge(HSPS)conduits.When HSPS is mechanically distorted,it still has high durability of strain strength,thus,can accommodate unexpected strain of nerve tissues in motion.A 10 mm nerve defect rat model was used to test the repair performance of the HSPS-SC(VEGF)conduits,meanwhile the HSPS,HSPS-SC,HSPS-VEGF conduits and autografts were worked as controls.The immunofluorescent co-staining of GFP/VEGF-A,Ki67 and MBP showed that the VEGF-A overexpressing Schwann cells could promote the proliferation,migration and differentiation of Schwann cells as the VEGF-A was secreted from the VEGF-A overexpressing Schwann cells.The nerve repair performance of the multifunctional and flexible conduits was examined though rat behavioristics,electrophysiology,nerve innervation to gastrocnemius muscle(GM),toluidine blue(TB)staining,transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and NF200/S100 double staining in the regenerated nerve.The results displayed that the effects on the repair of peripheral nerves in HSPS-SC(VEGF)group was the best among the conduits groups and closed to autografts.HSPS-SC(VEGF)group exhibited notably increased CD31+endothelial cells and activation of VEGFR2/ERK signaling pathway in the regenerated nerve tissues,which probably contributed to the improved nerve regeneration.Altogether,the comprehensive strategy including VEGF overexpressing Schwann cells-mediated and HSPS conduit-guided peripheral nerve repair provides a new avenue for nerve tissue engineering. | Ping Wu Zan Tong Lihua Luo Yanan Zhao Feixiang Chen Yinping Li Céline Huselstein Qifa Ye Qingsong Ye Yun Chen | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,10: | 4 |
| 11 | Soil warming effect on net ecosystem exchange of carbon dioxide during the transition from winter carbon source to spring carbon sink in a temperate urban lawn显示文摘The significant warming in urban environment caused by the combined effects of global warming and heat island has stimulated widely development of urban vegetations.However,it is less known of the climate feedback of urban lawn in warmed environment.Soil warming effect on net ecosystem exchange(NEE)of carbon dioxide during the transition period from winter to spring was investigated in a temperate urban lawn in Beijing,China.The NEE(negative for uptake)under soil warming treatment(temperature was about 5°C higher than the ambient treatment as a control)was-0.71 μmol/(m2·sec),the ecosytem was a CO2 sink under soil warming treatment,the lawn ecosystem under the control was a CO2 source(0.13μmol/(m2·sec)),indicating that the lawn ecosystem would provide a negative feedback to global warming.There was no significant effect of soil warming on nocturnal NEE(i.e.,ecosystem respiration),although the soil temperature sensitivity(Q10) of ecosystem respiration under soil warming treatment was 3.86,much lower than that in the control(7.03).The CO2 uptake was significantly increased by soil warming treatment that was attributed to about 100% increase of α(apparent quantum yield)and Amax(maximum rate of photosynthesis).Our results indicated that the response of photosynthesis in urban lawn is much more sensitive to global warming than respiration in the transition period. | Xiaoping Zhou Xiaoke Wang Lei Tong Hongxing Zhang Fei Lu Feixiang Zheng Peiqiang Hou WenzhiSong Zhiyun Ouyang | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,12: | 4 |

| 14 | Design and experiment of electro hydraulic active suspension for controlling the rolling motion of spray boom显示文摘Boom sprayer is one of the most commonly used plant protection machinery for spraying pesticide.Studies have shown that the efficiency of chemicals is highly correlated with the uniformity of spray distribution patterns.As the boom is a large and flexible structure,boom rolling leads to overlapping and leakage of the pesticides.In order to improve spray uniformity,the boom attitude should be kept parallel to the ground slope or to the crop canopy beneath the boom.Passive suspension can attenuate frequencies above its resonance frequency,but nothing can be done to align the boom to the sloping ground.Therefore,an active suspension system is designed,which includes DSP-based controller,a servo valve,a hydraulic cylinder,two ultrasonic sensors,one inertial attitude sensor,and the developed control procedures.In order to prevent the wrong response of the control system caused by the high frequency component due to uneven crop canopy or rough ground.A special signal processing algorithm was proposed,including the limiting filter,smoothing algorithm and data fusion algorithm based on optimal weight.The transient and steady-state performances of the boom control system using velocity feedforward PID algorithm were tested on a six DOF motion simulator.It can be seen that the low-frequency tracking performance of the boom was greatly improved after the electro-hydraulic active suspension was added.At the resonance frequency,the peak angle of active suspension and passive suspensions are 0.72°and 1.29°respectively,and the resonance peak is greatly reduced.The controller was implemented on a self-propelled boom sprayer and validated under field conditions,the standard deviation of the roll angle of the boom with active suspension is 0.40°,compared with 1.04°of the sprayer chassis.Experimental results show that the active suspension control system can effectively reduce the effect of ground excitation disturbance on the application process,and has good tracking performance for low frequency terrain change. | Longfei Cui Xinyu Xue Feixiang Le Hanping Mao Suming Ding | 2019 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,4: | 3 |

| 16 | BSA-seq-based identification of a major additive plant height QTL with an effect equivalent to that of Semi-dwarf 1 in a large rice F_(2) population显示文摘Bulked-segregant analysis is a time-and cost-saving strategy for identifying major quantitative trait loci(QTL) in a mapping population. Bulked-segregant analysis combined with whole-genome sequencing(BSA-seq) was performed to rapidly identify QTL for heading date, plant height, and panicle length in a large F_(2) population derived from two landraces: Chuan 7(C7) and Haoboka(HBK). Twenty plants with extremely low or high phenotypic values for the target traits were selected from an F_(2) population of 940 plants to construct low-and high-value bulks. Three pairs of bulks for the three traits were constructed, resulting in six DNA pools. BSA-seq revealed nine QTL: four for heading date, three for plant height, and two for panicle length. These QTL were validated in a random F_(2) population or BC_(4)F_(2) populations. The major novel plant height QTL, qPH8, acting additively with an effect equivalent to that of semi-dwarf 1(sd1), is potentially valuable for hybrid rice breeding. qPH8 controls mainly the elongation of basal internodes. | 17 | Evidence for charge and spin density waves in single crystals of La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7) and La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(6)显示文摘Charge and spin orders are intimately related to superconductivity in copper oxide superconductors.Elucidation of the competing orders in various nickel oxide compounds is crucial,given the fact that superconductivity has been discovered in Nd_(0.8)Sr_(0.2)NiO_(2)films.Herein,we report structural,electronic transport,magnetic,and thermodynamic characterizations of single crystals of La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7)and La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(6).La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7)is metallic with mixed Ni^(2+)and Ni^(3+)valent states.Resistivity measurements yield two transition-like kinks at~110 and 153 K.The kink at 153 K is further revealed from magnetization and specific heat measurements,indicative of the formation of charge and spin density waves.La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(6)single crystals obtained from the topochemical reduction of La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7)are insulating and show an anomaly at~176 K on magnetic susceptibility.The transition-like behaviors of La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7)and La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(6)are analogous to those observed in La_(4)Ni_(3)O_(10) and La_(4)Ni_(3)O_(8),suggesting that charge and spin density waves are a common feature in the ternary La-Ni-O system with mixed-valent states of nickel. | Zengjia Liu Hualei Sun Mengwu Huo Xiaoyan Ma Yi Ji Enkui Yi Lisi Li Hui Liu Jia Yu Ziyou Zhang Zhiqiang Chen Feixiang Liang Hongliang Dong Hanjie Guo Dingyong Zhong Bing Shen Shiliang Li Meng Wang | 2023 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,1: | 2 |
| 18 | Pliocene flora and paleoenvironment of Zanda Basin, Tibet, China显示文摘This paper describes a plant megafossil assemblage from the Pliocene strata of Xiangzi, Zanda Basin in the western Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Twenty-one species belonging to 12 genera and 10 families were identified. Studies show that the Pliocene vegetation in Zanda Basin was mostly deciduous shrub composed of Cotoneaster, Spiraea, Caragana, Hippophae,Rhododendron, Potentilla fruticosa, etc. Leaf sizes of these taxa were generally small. Paleoclimate reconstruction using Coexistence Analysis and CLAMP showed that this area had higher temperature and precipitation in the Pliocene than today, and distinct seasonal precipitation variability was established. The reconstructed paleoelevation of Zanda Basin in the Pliocene was similar to modern times. | 20 | Hydrological Services by Mountain Ecosystems in Qilian Mountain of China: A Review显示文摘Hydrological service is a hot issue in the current researches of ecosystem service, particularly in the upper reaches of mountain rivers in dry land areas, where the Qilian Mountain is a representative one. The Qilian Mountain, where forest, shrubland and grassland consist of its main ecosystems, can provide fresh water and many other ecosystem services, through a series of eco-hydrological process such as precipitation interception, soil water storage, and fresh water provision. Thus, monitoring water regulation and assessing the hydrological service of the Qilian Mountain are meaningful and helpful for the healthy development of the lower reaches of arid and semi-arid areas. In recent 10 years, hydrological services have been widely researched in terms of scale and landscape pattern, including water conservation, hydrological responses to afforestation and their ecological effects. This study, after analyzing lots of current models and applications of geographical information system(GIS) in hydrological services, gave a scientific and reasonable evaluation of mountain ecosystem in eco-hydrological services, by employing the combination of international forefronts and contentious issues into the Qilian Mountain. Assessments of hydrological services at regional or larger scales are limited compared with studies within watershed scale in the Qilian Mountain.
