2Marine Carbon-Sulfur Biogeochemical Cycles during the Steptoean Positive Carbon Isotope Excursion(SPICE) in the Jiangnan Basin, South China显示文摘Global occurrences of Steptoean Positive Carbon Isotope Excursion(SPICE) during Late Cambrian recorded a significant perturbation in marine carbon cycle, and might have had profound impacts on the biological evolution. In previous studies, SPICE has been reported from the Jiangnan slope belt in South China. To evaluate the bathymetric extent of SPICE, we investigate the limestone samples from the upper Qingxi Formation in the Shaijiang Section in the Jiangnan Basin. Our results show the positive excursions for both carbonate carbon(δ^(13)C) and organic carbon(δ^(13)C_(org)) isotopes, as well as the concurrent positive shifts in sulfur isotopes of carbonate associated sulfate(CAS, δ^(34)S_(CAS)) and pyrite(δ^(34)S_(pyrite)), unequivocally indicating the presence of SPICE in the Jiangnan Basin. A 4‰ increase in δ^(13)C_(carb) of the Qingxi limestone implies the increase of the relative flux of organic carbon burial by a factor of two. Concurrent positive excursions in δ^(34)S_(CAS) and δ^(34)S_(pyrite) have been attributed to the enhanced pyrite burial in oceans with extremely low concentration and spatially heterogeneous isotopic composition of seawater sulfate. Here, we propose that the seawater sulfur isotopic heterogeneity can be generated by volatile organic sulfur compound(VOSC, such as methanethiol and dimethyl sulfide) formation in sulfidic continental margins that were widespread during SPICE. Emission of 32S-enriched VOSC in atmosphere, followed by lateral transportation and aerobic oxidation in atmosphere, and precipitation in open oceans result in a net flux of ^(32)S from continental margins to open oceans, elevating δ^(34)S of seawater sulfate in continental margins. 3Vegetation Phenology in Permafrost Regions of Northeastern China Based on MODIS and Solar-induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence显示文摘Vegetation phenology is an indicator of vegetation response to natural environmental changes and is of great significance for the study of global climate change and its impact on terrestrial ecosystems.The normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)and enhanced vegetation index(EVI),extracted from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(MODIS),are widely used to monitor phenology by calculating land surface reflectance.However,the applicability of the vegetation index based on‘greenness'to monitor photosynthetic activity is hindered by poor observation conditions(e.g.,ground shadows,snow,and clouds).Recently,satellite measurements of solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence(SIF)from OCO-2 sensors have shown great potential for studying vegetation phenology.Here,we tested the feasibility of SIF in extracting phenological metrics in permafrost regions of the northeastern China,exploring the characteristics of SIF in the study of vegetation phenology and the differences between NDVI and EVI.The results show that NDVI has obvious SOS advance and EOS lag,and EVI is closer to SIF.The growing season length based on SIF is often the shortest,while it can represent the true phenology of vegetation because it is closely related to photosynthesis.SIF is more sensitive than the traditional remote sensing indices in monitoring seasonal changes in vegetation phenology and can compensate for the shortcomings of traditional vegetation indices.We also used the time series data of MODIS NDVI and EVI to extract phenological metrics in different permafrost regions.The results show that the length of growing season of vegetation in predominantly continuous permafrost(zone I)is longer than in permafrost with isolated taliks(zone II).Our results have certain significance for understanding the response of ecosystems in cold regions to global climate change.WEN Lixiang GUO Meng YIN Shuai HUANG Shubo LI Xingli YU Fangbing 2021Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,3:1
4Forest succession trajectories after fi res in valleys and on slopes in the Greater Khingan Mountains,China显示文摘Accurate assessment of postfire vegetation recovery is important for forest management and the conservation of species diversity.Topography is an important factor aff ecting vegetation recovery but whether species composition varies with diff erent recovery stages and between valleys and slopes is unclear.Using fi eld data and a space-for-time substitution method,we quantifi ed species richness and diversity to obtain the successional trajectories of valleys and slopes.We surveyed the species of 10 burned areas from 1986 to 2010 in the Greater Khingan Mountains in northeastern China,and found that with increasing postfi re recovery time,species richness in both valleys and slopes gradually decreased.However,species richness in valleys was relatively higher.Shrubs recovered rapidly in the valleys,and species diversity maximized approximately 11 years after fi re.However,it maximized 17–18 years after fi re on the slopes.Numerous shade-tolerant species were present in the valleys 11 years after fi re but not until after 18 years on slopes.Larch appeared earlier than 11 years after fi re and its recovery was slow in the valleys but appeared quickly on slopes and established dominance early.Our study provides some new insights into vegetation succession after fi re at local scales.After fi re,the vegetation recovery processes diff er with topography and it aff ects the initial rate of recovery and species composition at diff erent successional stages.Chao Zhong Meng Guo Fenfen Zhou Jianuo Li Fangbing Yu Futao Guo Wenshan Li 2023Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,3:1
5Three-dimensional CT angiography with volume rendering for the dignosis of multiple intracranial aneurysms显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the importance of 3D-CTA with volume rendering for the diagnosis of multiple intracranial aneurysms. Methods: Axial source images were obtained by helical CT scanning and reconstruction of 3D-CTA images was done by volume rendering technique in conjunction with multiplanar reformation. Results: In the past one year, there were 10 patients diagnosed as having multiple intracranial a-neurysms by 3D-CTA and altogether 24 aneurysms were visualized, including 10 small aneurysms (≤ 5mm. Three-dimensional CT angiography with volume rendering demonstrated aneurysms very well and provided useful information concerning the site, shape, size and spatial relationship with the surrounding vessels and bone anatomy. Conclusion: Three-dimensional CT angiography with volume rendering is a quick, reliable, and relatively noninvasive method for diagnosing multiple intracranial aneurysms. 14Base editors:development and applications in biomedicine显示文摘Base editor(BE)is a gene-editing tool developed by combining the CRISPR/Cas system with an individual deaminase,enabling precise single-base substitution in DNA or RNA without generating a DNA double-strand break(DSB)or requiring donor DNA templates in living cells.Base editors offer more precise and secure genome-editing effects than other conventional artificial nuclease systems,such as CRISPR/Cas9,as the DSB induced by Cas9 will cause severe damage to the genome.Thus,base editors have important applications in the field of biomedicine,including gene function investigation,directed protein evolution,genetic lineage tracing,disease modeling,and gene therapy.Since the development of the two main base editors,cytosine base editors(CBEs)and adenine base editors(ABEs),scientists have developed more than 100 optimized base editors with improved editing efficiency,precision,specificity,targeting scope,and capacity to be delivered in vivo,greatly enhancing their application potential in biomedicine.Here,we review the recent development of base editors,summarize their applications in the biomedical field,and discuss future perspectives and challenges for therapeutic applications.Yanhui Liang Fangbing Chen Kepin Wang Liangxue Lai 2023Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,3:0
15Decay rate of Larix gmelinii coarse woody debris on burned patches in the Greater Khingan Mountains显示文摘The decomposition of coarse woody debris(CWD)affects the energy flow and nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems.Previous studies on CWD have focused on the input,decomposition,reserve dynamics,and CWD functions,but coarse woody debris decomposition is complex and the results from different regions vary considerably.It is not clear which factors affect decay rate(k),especially at different decomposition stages.In this study,a single-exponential decay model was used to analyze the characteristics of CWD decomposition in Larix gmelinii forests over the 33 years following a fire in the Greater Khingan Mountains.The results show that the decay rate of coarse woody debris was positively correlated to decay class.The average decomposition rate was 0.019,and 41 years and 176 years are needed for a 50%and 95%mass loss,respectively.CWD nutrient content,density,and water content could explain the variance in the decay rate(~42%)of the decay factors such as amount of leaching,degree of fragmentation,respiration of the debris,and biotransformation,and varied significantly between different decay classes.Using the space-time substitution method,this study arranged the coarse woody debris of different mortality times to form a 33 year chronosequence which revealed the decomposition process.It was concluded that the decay rate was mainly explained by structural component of the debris and its nitrogen and water contents.This paper quantifies the indicators affecting CWD decay to explain the decomposition process.Shubo Huang Lixiang Wen Shuai Yin Meng Guo Fangbing Yu 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,6:0
16A hybrid monolithic column based on flower-shaped zeolitic imidazolate framework for efficient capillary microextraction of brominated flame retardants显示文摘A novel flower-shaped zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF) doped organic-inorganic hybrid monolithic column(ZIF-HMC) was prepared by a simple sol-gel 'one-step' method and utilized for efficient capillary microextraction(CME) of four brominated flame retardants.The prepared monolithic was characterized by Fourier transform infrared,scanning electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,energy disperse spectroscopy,and N_(2) adsorption-desorption.The parameters of CME were optimized by orthogonal array design.Under the optimal conditions,the ZIF-HMC showed excellent extraction efficiency,the limit of detection(LODs) and the limit of quantification(LOQs) were in the range of0.52$3.1 mg/L and 1.7$10 mg/L,respectively,and the proposed method demonstrated good recovery(88.8%–116.6%) with the RSD less than 13.6% and a reusability of at least 30 times.The ZIF-HMC possessed great potential for separating organic pollutants and the strategy used here could be extended to prepare other derivatized HMC functionalized monoliths.Xuemei Wang Xinglan Cui Hong Ji Fangbing Wang Yacong Liu Xinzhen Du Xiaoquan Lu 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,10:0
17Electrochemical conversion of furfural to furoic acid:a more stable,efficient and energy-saving system显示文摘The paired electrolytic system is constructed by combining the valuable organic electro-oxidation and electro-reduction reactions,which can replace the ineffective water splitting half-reaction.By reducing the energy consumption of the electrolytic cell,the value-added electrolysis is realized.The indirect electrolysis method greatly reduces the dependence of the organic electrolysis reaction on electrode potential by introducing the redox mediators,which solves the problem on the matching of anode and cathode current under potentiostatic conditions.Here,we report a more stable,efficient and energy-saving linear paired electrochemical synthesis system that can simultaneously convert furfural to furoic acid at both the anode and cathode at higher current densities.Stable three-dimensional networked PbO_(2)is used as the anode and the catalytic amount of 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy(TEMPO)is used as the mediator to realize the efficient conversion of furfural to furoic acid in a wide potential range.The cathode catalyzes two-electron oxygen reduction to hydrogen peroxide using Pb/RHPC gas-diffusion electrode,which mediates the oxidation of furfural to furoic acid simultaneously.In potentiostatic electrolysis,the selectivity of the furoic acid in the cathode and anode is 33.2%and 99.3%,respectively,and the total electron efficiency is 127.1%.The properties of the cathode and anode remain stable after the long-time electrolysis in a flow cell.By choosing a stable anode with high oxygen evolution overpotential and a gas-diffusion cathode with high hydrogen evolution overpotential,the electrolytic cell can be operated efficiently and stably by introducing reasonable mediated reactions.The two half-reactions have good compatibility during the electrolysis process,saving energy consumption by about 12.3%,for certain industrial application prospects.Xinxin Li Linchuan Cong Haibo Lin Fangbing Liu Fuyu Han Nan Lin 2022Science China Chemistry2022,65,12:0

19Electroacupuncture Alleviates Anxiety-like Behavior in Pain Aversion Rats by Attenuating the Expression of Neuropeptide Y in Anterior Cingulate Cortex显示文摘Background:Pain is considered as a multidimensional conscious experience that includes a sensory component and a negative affective-motivational component.Electroacupuncture(EA)is widely used to treat pain and paininduced negative emotions,however,little is known about the mechanisms underlying the effect of EA.Objective:This study investigated the effect of EA on alleviating the anxiety-like behaviors in pain aversion rats and its anterior cingulate cortex(ACC)regulation mechanism.Methods:After a Freund’s complete adjuvant(CFA)-conditioned place aversion(C-CPA)model was established in rats,EA treatment(2/100 Hz,30 min,once/day,4 days totally)was applied at bilateral Zusanli(ST36)and Kunlun(BL60)acupoints.Von Frey filaments were used to measure changes of pain withdrawal threshold(PWT)at indicated time points.Elevated zero maze(EZM)was used to investigate the changes of pain-related anxiety and CPA was used to investigate the changes of pain aversion.The protein expression levels of GAD67,PV,and NPY in ACC were detected by Western blotting.Results:Compared with the control group,the staying time in the'CFA-paired compartment'was significantly reduced,and the PWT was decreased in model group.In the EZM assessment,the distance and the time in open arm,as well as the number of open arm entries of model group were significantly lower than those in the control group.In the CPA assessment,the time spent in the'CFA-paired compartment'was significantly decreased in model group compared with control group,and EA reversed the changes in pain sensation and in pain-related emotions.Western blotting showed that the NPY level,but not the levels of GAD67 and PV,was significantly increased in the ACC of the model group compared to that of the control group.The increased expression of NPY in the ACC was significantly downregulated by EA,while sham EA produced no such effect.Conclusion:EA can effectively relieve the pain and pain-related emotions,and its mechanism may be achieved by down-regulating the expression of NPY in the ACC.Fangbing Shao Junying Du Sisi Wang Rok Cerne Junfan Fang Xiaomei Shao Xiaoming Jin Jianqiao Fang 2022Clinical Complementary Medicine and Pharmacology2022,2,2:0
20Linear paired electrolysis of furfural to furoic acid at both anode and cathode in a multiple redox mediated system显示文摘Implementing a new energy-saving electrochemical synthesis system with high commercial value is a strategy of the sustainable development for upgrading the bulk chemicals preparation technology in the future.Here,we report a multiple redox-mediated linear paired electrolysis system,combining the hydrogen peroxide mediated cathode process with the I2 mediated anode process,and realize the conversion of furfural to furoic acid in both side of the dividedflow cell simultaneously.By reasonably controlling the cathode potential,the undesired water splitting reaction and furfural reduction side reactions are avoided.Under the galvanostatic electrolysis,the two-mediated electrode processes have good compatibility,which reduce the energy consumption by about 22%while improving the electronic efficiency by about 125%.This system provides a green electrochemical synthesis route with commercial prospects.Xinxin Li Linchuan Cong Haibo Lin Fangbing Liu Xiangxue Fu Hai-Chao Xu Nan Lin 2024Green Energy & Environment2024,9,1:0
