| 1 | Structural requirements and interaction mechanisms of ACE inhibitory peptides:molecular simulation and thermodynamics studies on LAPYK and its modifi ed peptides显示文摘The understanding of the structural requirements and the intermolecular-interaction mechanism are important for discovering potent angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitory peptides.In this study,we modifi ed an egg-white derived peptide,LAPYK,using the amino acids with different properties to produce the LAPYK-modified peptides.The ACE inhibitory activities of the modified peptides were determined to explore the structural requirements of ACE inhibitory peptides(ACEIPs).Molecular simulation and isothermal titration calorimetry analysis were used to investigate interactions between the peptides and ACE.We found that hydrophobicity and the amino acids with ring structures were benefi cial for the ACE inhibitory activities of the peptides.The results of the molecular mechanics poisson boltzmann surface area(MMPBSA)binding free energy calculations indicated that the polar solvation free energy(ΔG_(polar))of the charged peptides(LAPYK,LAPYE)were unfavorable for binding to ACE.On the other hand,the results of isothermal titration calorimetry analyses suggested that the enthalpy-driven ACE-peptide interactions were more favorable than the entropy-driven ACE-peptide interaction counterparts. | Biying Zhang Jingbo Liu Hedi Wen Feng Jiang Erlei Wang Ting Zhang | 2022 | Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,6: | 3 |
| 2 | Genome Size of Alexandrium catenella and Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis Estimated by Flow Cytometry显示文摘Flow cytometry(FCM) technique has been widely applied to estimating the genome size of various higher plants. However, there is few report about its application in algae. In this study, an optimized procedure of FCM was exploited to estimate the genome size of two eukaryotic algae. For analyzing Alexandrium catenella, an important red tide species, the whole cell instead of isolated nucleus was studied, and chicken erythrocytes were used as an internal reference. The genome size of A. catenella was estimated to be 56.48 ± 4.14 Gb(1C), approximately nineteen times larger than that of human genome. For analyzing Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis, an important economical red alga, the purified nucleus was employed, and Arabidopsis thaliana and Chondrus crispus were used as internal references, respectively. The genome size of Gp. lemaneiformis was 97.35 ± 2.58 Mb(1C) and 112.73 ± 14.00 Mb(1C), respectively, depending on the different internal references. | 3 | A synergy establishment by metal-organic framework and carbon quantum dots to enhance electrochemical water oxidation显示文摘Available online Integrating transition metal centered MOFs with conductive materials is a feasible route to enhance electron transfer efficiency of materials.Herein,a composite porous structure CQDs_(10)@NiFe-MOF-A was fabricated via introducing carbon quantum dots(CQDs)into porous NiFe-MOF.The CQDs would make partial loss of lattice in MOF during its growth,leading to the composite building block with the coexistance of crystalline region and amorphous region.The calcining treatment would produce an ultrathin protective layer as well as some lattice collapse.The synergy effect between NiFe ions effectively regulated electronic structure of metal active sites,and successful grafting of CQDs to NiFe-MOF significantly improved electrical conductivity.As expected,the catalyst exhibited outstanding OER performances with high mass activity of 91.6 A/g at overpotential of 300 mV and robust durability of 10,000 cycles in 1 mol/L KOH,which outperformed that of noble catalyst IrO_(2)of 25.2 A/g.The strategy paves a feasible and effective avenue for the non-noble metal catalysts. | Qiuxiang Mou Xuan Wang Zhenhang Xu Pnur Zul Erlei Li Pingping Zhao Xinghai Liu Houbin Li Gongzhen Cheng | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,1: | 2 |

| 5 | Fiber guiding at the Dirac frequency beyond photonic bandgaps显示文摘Light trapping within waveguides is a key practice of modern optics,both scientifically and technologically.Photonic crystal fibers traditionally rely on total internal reflection(index-guiding fibers)or a photonic bandgap(photonic-bandgap fibers)to achieve field confinement.Here,we report the discovery of a new light trapping within fibers by the so-called Dirac point of photonic band structures.Our analysis reveals that the Dirac point can establish suppression of radiation losses and consequently a novel guided mode for propagation in photonic crystal fibers.What is known as the Dirac point is a conical singularity of a photonic band structure where wave motion obeys the famous Dirac equation.We find the unexpected phenomenon of wave localization at this point beyond photonic bandgaps.This guiding relies on the Dirac point rather than total internal reflection or photonic bandgaps,thus providing a sort of advancement in conceptual understanding over the traditional fiber guiding.The result presented here demonstrates the discovery of a new type of photonic crystal fibers,with unique characteristics that could lead to new applications in fiber sensors and lasers.The Dirac equation is a special symbol of relativistic quantum mechanics.Because of the similarity between band structures of a solid and a photonic crystal,the discovery of the Dirac-point-induced wave trapping in photonic crystals could provide novel insights into many relativistic quantum effects of the transport phenomena of photons,phonons,and electrons. | Kang Xie Wei Zhang Allan D Boardman Haiming Jiang Zhijia Hu Yong Liu Ming Xie Qiuping Mao Lei Hu Qian Li Tianyu Yang Fei Wen Erlei Wang | 2015 | Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1: | 1 |
