1Highly efficient generation of arbitrary vector beams with tunable polarization, phase, and amplitude显示文摘We propose an efficient and robust method to generate tunable vector beams by employing a single phasetype spatial light modulator(SLM). With this method, a linearly polarized Gaussian beam can be converted into a vector beam with arbitrarily controllable polarization state, phase, and amplitude. The energy loss during the conversion is greatly reduced and depends mainly on the reflectivity of the SLM. We experimentally demonstrate that conversion efficiency of about 47% is achieved by using an SLM with reflectivity of 62%.Several typical vector beams, including cylindrical vector beams, vector beams on higher order Poincaré spheres,and arbitrary vector beams attached with phases and with tunable amplitude, are generated and verified experimentally. 3Distributed Cooperative Control Algorithm for Multi-UAV Mission Rendezvous显示文摘Multiple unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)cooperative operation is the main form for UAVs fighting in battlefield,and multi-UAV mission rendezvous is the premise of cooperative reconnaissance and attack missions.We propose a rendezvous control strategy,which divides the rendezvous process into two parts:The loose formation rendezvous and the close formation rendezvous.In the first stage,UAVs are supposed to reach the specific target locations simultaneously and form a loose formation.A distributed control strategy based on first-order consensus algorithm is presented to achieve this goal.Then the second stage is designed based on the second-order consensus algorithm to complete the transition from the loose formation to the close formation.This process needs the speeds and heading angles of UAVs to reach an agreement.Besides,control algorithms with a virtual leader are proposed,by which the formation states can reach a specific value.Finally,simulation results show that the control algorithms are capable of realizing the mission rendezvous of multi-UAV and the consistence of UAVs′final states,which verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the designed control strategy.Liu Guoliang Xing Dongjing Hou Jianyong Jin Guting Zhen Ziyang 2017Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2017,34,6:5
4Polarization oscillating beams constructed by copropagating optical frozen waves显示文摘Polarization oscillating beams, namely, polarization standing waves, commonly formed by a pair of coherent counterpropagating light waves with orthogonal polarizations, oscillate their states of polarization periodically within a wavelength interval, offering conceptual and practical interests in light-matter interactions such as the nonreciprocal magnetoelectric effect, and impressive applications in optical imaging, sensing, and chirality detection. Here, we propose a new class of polarization oscillating beams that longitudinally vary states of polarization with spatial intervals within centimeters via the superposition of two copropagating optical frozen waves with preshaped longitudinal intensity profiles and transverse phase structures. The flexibility and manipulability are demonstrated by creating several polarization oscillating beams with different polarization structures. 5Spatio-temporal analysis and simulation on shallow rainfall-induced landslides in China using landslide susceptibility dynamics and rainfall I-D thresholds显示文摘An empirical simulation method to simulate the possible position of shallow rainfall-induced landslides in China has been developed.This study shows that such a simulation may be operated in real-time to highlight those areas that are highly prone to rainfall-induced landslides on the basis of the landslide susceptibility index and the rainfall intensity-duration(I-D) thresholds.First,the study on landslide susceptibility in China is introduced.The entire territory has been classified into five categories,among which high-susceptibility regions(Zone 4-'High' and 5-'Very high') account for 4.15%of the total extension of China.Second,rainfall is considered as an external triggering factor that may induce landslide initiation.Real-time satellite-based TMPA3B42 products may provide real rainfall spatial and temporal patterns,which may be used to derive rainfall duration time and intensity.By using a historical record of 60 significant past landslides,the rainfall I-D equation has been calibrated.The rainfall duration time that may trigger a landslide has resulted between 3 hours and 45 hours.The combination of these two aspects can be exploited to simulate the spatiotemporal distribution of rainfall-induced landslide hazards when rainfall events exceed the rainfall I-D thresholds,where the susceptibility category is 'high' or 'very high'.This study shows a useful tool to be part of a systematic landslide simulation methodology,potentially providing useful information for a theoretical basis and practical guide for landslide prediction and mitigation throughout China.LI WeiYue LIU Chun Marco SCAIONI SUN WeiWei CHEN Yu YAO DongJing CHEN Sheng HONG Yang ZHANG KaiHang CHENG GuoDong 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4:5
6Water inrush evaluation of coal seam floor by integrating the water inrush coefficient and the information of water abundance显示文摘The method of singular coefficient of water inrush to achieve safety mining has limitation and one sidedness. Aiming at the problem above, large amounts of data about water inrush were collected. Then the data, including the maximum water inrush, water inrush coefficient and water abundance in aquifers of working face, were processed by the statistical analysis. The analysis results indicate that both water inrush coefficient and water abundance in aquifers should be taken into consideration when evaluating the danger of water inrush from coal seam floor. The prediction model of safe-mining evaluation grade was built by using the support vector machine, and the result shows that this model has high classification accuracy. 7Comparison of infection of different cell lines by uropathogenic Escherichia coli显示文摘Studying the interaction between uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) and uroepithelial cells is important in elucidating the pathogenesis of urinary tract infection. In this study, the African green monkey kidney cells (Vero), human kidney carcinoma cells (Ketr-3) and bladder carcinoma cells (EJ) were infected by UPEC132, a clinical strain isolated from Tianjin, China, and were compared for their capacities to allow the adherence and invasion by this strain. The results revealed that all these cell lines could be attached and invaded by UPEC132. The adherence rates for Vero, Ketr-3 and EJ cells were (49.20 ± 7.55)%, (55.22 ± 4.09)% and (73.20 ± 5.26)%, respectively, and invasion frequencies were (2.61 ± 0.32)×10-3, (3.00 ± 0.34)×10-3 and (3.25 ± 0.20)×10-3, respectively. The statistical analysis showed that the adherence rate for EJ cells was significantly higher than those for the other two cell lines (P<0.05), and the invasion frequencies for EJ and Ketr-3 cells had no statistical differences (P>0.05) but were higher than that for Vero cells (P<0.05). Three cell lines were detected for the receptors for P pili of UPEC by using indirect immunofluorescence. The results showed that receptors existed on the surfaces of all cell lines, and the highest distribution was found on the surface of EJ cells. Additionally, the invasion of EJ cells by recombinant UPEC132/pSELECT-GFP could be directly visualized using confocal microscopy. 8Cooperative Search of UAV Swarm Based on Ant Colony Optimization with Artificial Potential Field显示文摘An ant colony optimization with artificial potential field(ACOAPF)algorithm is proposed to solve the cooperative search mission planning problem of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)swarm.This algorithm adopts a distributed architecture where each UAV is considered as an ant and makes decision autonomously.At each decision step,the ants choose the next gird according to the state transition rule and update its own artificial potential field and pheromone map based on the current search results.Through iterations of this process,the cooperative search of UAV swarm for mission area is realized.The state transition rule is divided into two types.If the artificial potential force is larger than a threshold,the deterministic transition rule is adopted,otherwise a heuristic transition rule is used.The deterministic transition rule can ensure UAVs to avoid the threat or approach the target quickly.And the heuristics transition rule considering the pheromone and heuristic information ensures the continuous search of area with the goal of covering more unknown area and finding more targets.Finally,simulations are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed ACOAPF algorithm for cooperative search mission of UAV swarm.XING Dongjing ZHEN Ziyang ZHOU Chengyu GONG Huajun 2019Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2019,36,6:3
9A venomous arthropod in the Early Cambrian Sea显示文摘A number of recently evolved animals possess poison glands for feeding and/or defense.However,examples of such animals are rare in the fossil record.We report a fossil arthropod Isoxys curvirostratus from the Early Cambrian Chengjiang biota of China.This species is regarded as the oldest known venomous arthropod based on the presence of venomous glands in its head region.The adult animal is 2-5 cm long and the body is covered entirely with a carapace.The presence of large stalk eyes and a pair of stout grasping appendages with a terminal spine suggest it was raptorial.Interestingly,the two pear-shaped,three-dimensionally preserved objects that are present in the head region and at the base of the grasping appendages closely resemble the venom glands of some living arthropods in size,shape,and position.These features indicate that the presence of venomous predators could date back 520 million years.Furthermore,our observations suggest that the feeding strategies and organs adapted for this purpose had already reached a high level of diversity and anatomical sophistication in the Early Cambrian ecosystems.FU DongJing ZHANG XingLiang SHU DeGan 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,15:2
10Self-accelerated optical activity in free space induced by the Gouy phase显示文摘Optical activity(OA)is the rotation of the polarization orientation of the linearly polarized light as it travels through certain materials that are of mirror asymmetry,including gases or solutions of chiral molecules such as sugars and proteins,as well as metamaterials.The necessary condition for achieving OA is the birefringence of two circular polarizations in material.Here,we propose a new kind of self-accelerated OA in free space,based on the intrinsic Gouy phase induced mode birefringence of two kinds of quasi-non-diffracting beams.We provide a detailed insight into this kind of self-accelerated OA by analyzing angular parameters,including angular direction,velocity,acceleration,and even the polarization transformation trajectory.As the Gouy phase exists for any wave,this kind of self-accelerated OA can be implemented in other waves beyond optics,from acoustic and elastic waves to matter waves.PENG LI XINHAO FAN DONGJING WU SHENG LIU YU LI JIANLIN ZHAO 2020Photonics Research2020,8,4:2
