1Reliability assessment in active distribution networks with detailed effects of PV systems显示文摘With the increased integration of photovoltaic(PV)power generation into active distribution networks,the operational challenges and their complexities are increased.Such networks need detailed characterization PV systems under multiple operating conditions to understand true impacts.This paper presents a new mathematical model for a PV system to capture detailed effects of PV systems.The proposed model incorporates state transitions of components in a PV system and captures effects of insolation variations.The paper performs a reliability assessment incorporating PV systems at resource locations.The results suggest that the reliability performance of an active distribution network at stressed operating conditions might be influenced by the high penetration of PV system.Reliability performance of distribution networks that are high penetrated with PV systems can be affected by cloudy effects resulting from insolation variations.The proposed model can be used to quantify the level of reduction in reliability,resulting with cloudy effects.Zulu ESAU Dilan JAYAWEERA 2014Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2014,2,1:19
2Dirichlet Process Gaussian Mixture Models:Choice of the Base Distribution显示文摘In the Bayesian mixture modeling framework it is possible to infer the necessary number of components to model the data and therefore it is unnecessary to explicitly restrict the number of components.Nonparametric mixture models sidestep the problem of finding the'correct'number of mixture components by assuming infinitely many components.In this paper Dirichlet process mixture(DPM) models are cast as infinite mixture models and inference using Markov chain Monte Carlo is described.The specification of the priors on the model parameters is often guided by mathematical and practical convenience.The primary goal of this paper is to compare the choice of conjugate and non-conjugate base distributions on a particular class of DPM models which is widely used in applications,the Dirichlet process Gaussian mixture model (DPGMM).We compare computational efficiency and modeling performance of DPGMM defined using a conjugate and a conditionally conjugate base distribution.We show that better density models can result from using a wider class of priors with no or only a modest increase in computational effort.Dilan Grür Carl Edward Rasmussen 2010Journal of Computer Science & Technology2010,25,4:5
3Steady-state security in distribution networks with large wind farms显示文摘Aging network assets,forced and unforced outages,and the way the networks are operated in a deregulated market are of significant concerns to integrate large wind farms in a distribution network.In many cases,the constrained network capacity is a potential barrier to the large-scale integration of wind power.This paper probabilistically assesses the steady-state security in a distribution network in the presence of large wind farms.The approach incorporates active distribution network operating conditions,including intermittent power outputs,random outages,demand fluctuations,and dynamic interactions and exchanges,and then assesses the steady state security using Monte Carlo simulation.A case study is performed by integrating large wind farms into a distribution network.The results suggest that intermittent outputs of large wind farms in a distribution network can impact the steady-state security considerably.However,the level of impact of wind farms does not necessarily correlate with the installed capacity of them.Dilan JAYAWEERA Syed ISLAM 2014Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2014,2,2:4
4Bioeffects of different functionalized silica nano-particles on HaCaT cell line显示文摘The bioeffects of silica nanoparticles (SiNP), phosphorylate-terminated nanoparticles (PO4- NP) and amino-terminated nanoparticles (NH2NP) on HaCaT cell line have been studied in this paper. The effects of the three kinds of functionalized silica nanoparticles on adherence, proliferation and cycle of HaCaT cells have been investigated. And the cel- lular uptake of the three kinds of functionalized silica nanoparticles by HaCaT cells has also been exam- ined. Results indicated that the bioeffects of the three kinds of functionalized nanoparticles on HaCaT cells were concentration-dependent. And the three kinds of functionalized nanoparticles all exhibited well bio- compatibility if the concentration was below 0.2 μg/μL. While the cytotoxicities of the three kinds of function- alized nanoparticles on HaCaT cells would increase with the increasing of nanoparticles concentration, and the following order was observed: NH2NP > SiNP > PO4NP. In addition, the quantity and rapidity of cellular uptake of nanoparticles by HaCaT cells were diverse due to the different functional groups. Under the same conditions, NH2NP was most and fast internalized by HaCaT cells, followed by SiNP, and PO4NP was the least and slowest. 10Ablative Carbon Dioxide Laser Treatment for Papular Scars of Nose and Chin Due to Acne: A Case Series显示文摘Introduction:Papular scarring of the nose and chin due to acne is an under-reported,under-recognized,and under-treated condition.Ablative carbon dioxide laser therapy(10,600 nm,continuous mode,energy of 15W)under local anesthesia is one of the choice.Here,we report series of patients with papular acne scars successfully treated with ablative carbon dioxide laser.Cases presentation:Five patients with papular scars of the nose and chin due to acne were treated at an outpatient dermatology clinic.All had type V skin according to the Fitzpatrick skin classification.Ablative carbon dioxide laser therapy(10,600 nm,continuous mode,energy of 15W)was performed under topical anesthesia.The patients were re-examined at 2-to 3-week intervals,and laser treatment was repeated as needed.Discussion:All of the five patients showed encouraging results.Good cosmetic results were achieved in all patients.The drawbacks of treatment were mild to moderate pain during the procedure and the need for posttreatment skin care.Conclusion:Ablative carbon dioxide laser therapy can potentially be used as a safe and effective treatment for papular scars of the nose and chin due to acne.Sanjeewani Fonseka Dasun Chathumina Wickramaarachchi Dilan Dileepa Jayarathne Bandara 2021International Journal of Dermatology and Venereology2021,4,3:1

16A combo technology of autotrophic and heterotrophic denitrification processes for groundwater treatment显示文摘In this study,a sequential process(heterotrophic up-flow column and completely mixed membrane bioreactors)was proposed combining advantages of the both processes.The system was operated for 249 days with simulated and real groundwater for nitrate removal at concentrations varying from 25 to 145 mg·L^(-1) NO_(3)^(-)-N.The contribution of heterotrophic process to total nitrate removal in the system was controlled by dozing the ethanol considering the nitrate concentration.By this way,sulfur based autotrophic denitrification rate was decreased and the effluent sulfate concentrations were controlled.The alkalinity requirement in the autotrophic process was produced in the heterotrophic reactor,and the system was operated without alkalinity supplementation.Throughout the study,the chemical oxygen demand in the heterotrophic reactor effluent was(23.7±22)mg L^(-1) and it was further decreased to(7.5±7.2)mg·L^(-1) in the system effluent,corresponding to a 70%reduction.In the last period of the study,the real groundwater containing 145 mg·L^(-1) NO_(3)^(-)-N was completely removed.Membrane was operated without chemical washing in the first 114 days.Between days 115-249 weekly chemical washing was required.Cemile Seyma Arzum Yapıcı Dilan Toprak Müjgan Yıldız Sinan Uyanık Yakup Karaaslan Deniz Uçar 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,9:0
17A self-activated NO-releasing hydrogel depot for photothermal enhanced sterilization显示文摘The ascendant danger of bacterial infections has resulted in an urgent requirement for developing new antibacterial approaches.Recently,nitric oxide(NO)has shown a broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity while avoiding resistance.However,achieving effective NO-based antibacterial therapies remains challenging,mired by the safety concerns of NO donor,residual toxicity by the ingredients,or complicated procedures.Herein,a self-activated NO-releasing hydrogel depot is fabricated by Ca^(2+)-crosslinked sodium alginate doped with CaO_(2)nanoparticles,L-arginine,and oxidized mesoporous carbon nanoparticles(OMCN)for photothermal enhanced bacteria killing.The locally concentrated H_(2)O_(2),generated from the reaction of CaO_(2)nanoparticles and water,could oxidize L-arginine to release NO.Meanwhile,benefiting from the remarkable photothermal effect of OMCN,the hybrid hydrogel possesses a synergistic sterilization behavior in combating both Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Grampositive Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in vitro.Moreover,the dual therapeutic hydrogel displays high efficiency in treatment of bacteria-infected mice with back wound model while showing no distinct toxicity.In addition,the restricted environment of hydrogel makes it easy to remove all the components from the infected wound,alleviating possible side effects from exogenous H_(2)O_(2).As such,the designed NO-synergistic photothermal hydrogel provides a promising strategy for treating bacterial infections.Shen Zhang Kelei Guan Yaoxin Zhang Junqing Zhang Hongyu Fu Ting Wu Dilan Ouyang Chaoqun Liu Qiang Wu Zhaowei Chen 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0

19Emergency department overcrowding:causes and solutions显示文摘Background:Emergency department(ED)overcrowding is among the biggest and most important problems experienced by ED staff.The number of ED visits is on the increase and remains an unresolved problem.Emergency department overcrowding has become an important problem for emergency care services worldwide.There is a relationship between overcrowding and patients’negative experi-ences of using ED and therefore reporting reduced patients’satisfaction.This study aimed to identify the causes of ED overcrowding,de-termine the reasons for people’s use of EDs,and develop solutions for reducing ED overcrowding.Methods:This study used quantitative methods using a descriptive approach.The participants were patients who visited the ED.A questionnaire was administered to 296 participants between December 2021 and February 2022.The study included 5 different hospitals in Turkey.The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.Results:This study identified the most common presenting medical problems in the ED and why patients used the ED.Reasons for using the ED included patients perceiving their condition as really urgent(62.8%),the ED being open for 24 hours(36.1%),and receiving faster care in the ED(31.4%).This study also developed recommendations for alleviating ED overcrowding.Conclusion:This study identified causes of ED overcrowding and some solutions for alleviating the issue.Emergency department over-crowding should be perceived as an international problem,and initiatives for solutions should be implemented quickly.Ahmet Butun Elif Ece Kafdag Hilal Gunduz Vedat Zincir Mehmet Batibay Kubra Ciftci Dilan Demir Ramazan Bayram Elanur Yigit 2023Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2023,3,4:0
