Tribological performance of tributylmethylammonium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide as neat lubricant and as an additive in a polar oil显示文摘The ionic liquid(IL) tributylmethylammonium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide([N4441][NTf2]) was used as neat lubricant and as an additive(1.5 wt%) in a polar oil to study its friction and wear reducing properties.Tribological tests were completed for 90 minutes at room temperature and 100 °C in a reciprocating configuration at loads of 30 and 70 N,10 Hz-frequency,and 4 mm stroke length.Wear volume was measured by confocal microscopy and the surface-IL interaction determined by XPS.The main findings were that neat IL showed the best tribological behavior;the IL-containing mixture behaved similar to the base oil regarding friction, however outperformed the antiwear behavior of the base oil under higher temperature;surface-IL chemical interaction was found mainly at 100 °C.Rubén GONZáLEZ Diego RAMOS David BLANCO Alfonso FERNáNDEZ-GONZáLEZ Jose L.VIESCA Mark HADFIELD Antolin HERNáNDEZ BATTEZ 2019Friction2019,7,3:3
Association of insertion-deletions polymorphisms with colorectal cancer risk and clinical features显示文摘AIM To investigate the association between 16 insertiondeletions(INDEL) polymorphisms, colorectal cancer(CRC) risk and clinical features in an admixed population.METHODS O n e h u n d re d a n d fo r ty p a t i e n t s w i t h C R C a n d 140 cancer-free subjects were examined. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood samples. Polymorphisms and genomic ancestry distribution were assayed by Multiplex-PCR reaction, separated by capillary electrophoresis on the ABI 3130 Genetic Analyzer instrument and analyzed on Gene Mapper ID v3.2. Clinicopathological data were obtained by consulting the patients' clinical charts, intra-operative documentation, and pathology scoring.RESULTS Logistic regression analysis showed that polymorphism variations in IL4 gene was associated with increased CRC risk, while TYMS and UCP2 genes were associated with decreased risk. Reference to anatomical localization of tumor Del allele of NFKB1 and CASP8 were associated with more colon related incidents than rectosigmoid. In relation to the INDEL association with tumor node metastasis(TNM) stage risk, the Ins alleles of ACE, HLAG and TP53(6 bp INDEL) were associated with higher TNM stage. Furthermore, regarding INDEL association with relapse risk, the Ins alleles of ACE, HLAG, and UGT1A1 were associated with early relapse risk, as well as the Del allele of TYMS. Regarding INDEL association with death risk before 10 years, the Ins allele of SGSM3 and UGT1A1 were associated with death risk.CONCLUSION The INDEL variations in ACE, UCP2, TYMS, IL4, NFKB1, CASP8, TP53, HLAG, UGT1A1, and SGSM3 were associated with CRC risk and clinical features in an admixed population. These data suggest that this cancer panel might be useful as a complementary tool for better clinical management, and more studies need to be conducted to confirm these findings.Diego Marques Layse Raynara Ferreira-Costa Lorenna Larissa Ferreira-Costa Romualdo da Silva Correa Aline Maciel Pinheiro Borges Fernanda Ribeiro Ito Carlos Cesar de Oliveira Ramos Raul Hernandes Bortolin André Ducati Luchessi Andrea Ribeiro-dos-Santos Sidney Santos Vivian Nogueira Silbiger 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,37:2

Community‑based screening of Chagas disease among Latin American migrants in a non‑endemic country: an observational study显示文摘Background:Chagas disease is a parasitic disease endemic to Latin America, but it has become a disease of global concern due to migration fows.Asymptomatic carriers may host the parasite for years, without knowing they are infected. The aim of this study is to assess prevalence of Chagas disease and evaluate the participants’level of knowl‑edge between Latin American migrants attending a community-based screening campaign. Methods:Three community-based campaigns were performed in Alicante(Spain)in 2016,2017 and 2018,including educational chats and blood tests for Trypanosoma cruzi serology.Participants completed a questionnaire assessing knowledge about the mechanisms of transmission, disease presentation, diagnosis, and treatment.People seroposi‑tive for T.cruzi underwent diagnostic confrmation by two diferent tests. Results were analyzed by multivariable logistic regression and expressed as adjusted odds ratios(aORs),adjusting for age, sex, and time in Spain. Results:A total of 596 participants were included in the study;17%were aged under 18 years.Prevalence in adults was 11%[54/496;95%confdence interval(CI):8.3–14.5%]versus 0%among children. All but one case were in Bolivians.Diagnosis was independently associated with having been born in Bolivia(aOR:102,95%CI:13–781)and a primary school-level education(aOR:2.40,95%CI:1.14–5.06).Of 54 people diagnosed with Chagas disease(most of whom were asymptomatic),42(77.7%)returned to the clinic at least once, and 24(44.4%)received treatment.Multivariable analysis showed that coming from Argentina(aOR:13,95%CI:1.61–1188)or Bolivia(aOR:1.90,95%CI:1.19–3.39)and having received information about Chagas disease in Spain(aOR:4.63,95%CI:2.54–8.97)were associ‑ated with a good level of knowledge on the disease.Having primary level studies(aOR:0.59,95%CI:0.34–0.98)and coming from Ecuador(aOR:4.63,95%CI:2.52–847)were independently associated with a lower level of knowledge.Conclusions:Community-based interventions are a good strategy for diagnosing neglected diseases such as Chagas disease in non-endemic countries and for identifying and treating infected, asymptomatic individuals.Violeta Ramos‑Sesma Miriam Navarro Jara Llenas‑García Concepción Gil‑Anguita Diego Torrus‑Tendero Philip Wikman‑Jorgensen María García‑López Concepción Amador‑Prous María‑Paz Ventero‑Martín Pedro Guevara‑Hernández Ana Garijo‑Saiz Ares Sanchez‑Sanchez Cristina Bernal‑Alcaraz Ana‑Isabel Pujades‑Tarraga Roser Muñoz‑Perez María Flores‑Chávez José‑Manuel Ramos‑Rincón 2021Infectious Diseases of Poverty2021,10,5:0
Large primary hepatic gastrinoma in young patient treated with trisegmentectomy: A case report and review of the literature显示文摘Primary hepatic gastrinoma is a rare disease, with fewer than 40 cases reported in the medical literature. Because it is located in an organ in which metastases are common, its diagnosis is difficult. We report a case of a 19 years old male patient with a history of gastric ulcers since the age of nine. Following gastric surgery, an antrectomy and a vagotomy, there was some alleviation of symptoms. Subsequently, the patient reported various intermittent episodes of diarrhea, diffuse abdominal pain, and vomiting. The patient underwent tomography, which revealed the presence of a hepatic mass measuring 19.5 cm × 12.5 cm × 17 cm. Primary hepatic gastrinoma was diagnosed based on laboratory examinations that indicated hypergastrinemia and a positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance study with somatostatin analogue that confirmed the liver as the primary site. After hepatic trisegmentectomy(Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, Ⅷ), the patient's symptoms improved. The case is notable for the presence of a rare tumor with uncommon dimensions.Leonardo Zumerkorn Pipek Yuri Justi Jardim Gustavo Heluani Antunes de Mesquita Fernanda Nii Kayo Augusto de Almeida Medeiros Bárbara Justo Carvalho Diego Ramos Martines Leandro Ryuchi Iuamoto Daniel Reis Waisberg Luiz Augusto Carneiro D'Albuquerque Alberto Meyer Wellington Andraus 2018World Journal of Hepatology2018,10,7:0
Phytochemical bioprospecting, antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxicity activities of saline extract from Tithonia diversifolia(Hemsl) A.Gray leaves显示文摘Objective:To evaluate antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of saline extract from Tithonia diversifolia leaves by phytochemical bioprospecting, and investigate its safety against animal cells. Methods:The saline extract was prepared, with NaCl(0.15 M),by constant stirring of the dried and pulverized leaves, followed by volume reduction by lyophilization. The extract was phytochemical characterized using ultra-performance liquid chromatography, and total phenol and flavonoid analysis also was performed. The antioxidant capacity was determined through DPPH*radical, the antimicrobial property was evaluated against standard bacteria and fungi, and the viability assays were performed against mice splenocytes. Results:Fifteen compounds were identified belonging to two main classes terpenoids and phenolics. The extract showed 22.185 mg GAE/g of total phenolic compounds and 3.220 mg QE/g of flavonoid. Moreover, extract showed higher antioxidant ability similar to butylated hydroxytoluene a standard molecule[(3.042±0.019)mg AAE/g and(4.12±0.10)mg AAE/g to saline extract and butylated hydroxytoluene, respectively].The antimicrobial assays demonstrated that the extract had a significant antifungal potential against Candida species and could be used with safety against mice splenocytes,in concentrations lower than 50μg/mL,promoting higher proliferation in these cells. Conclusions:Saline extract from Tithonia diversifolia leaves presents potential antioxidant, antifungal properties and induces immunostimulation in mice splenocytes.Bruno Rafael Barboza Bárbara Rafaela da Silva Barros Bárbara de Azevedo Ramos Maiara Celine de Moura Thiago Henrique Napoleao Maria Tereza dos Santos Correia Luana Cassandra Breitenbach Barroso Coelho Iranildo José da Cruz Filho Ana Maria Souto Maior Túlio Diego da Silva Leylianne de Cássia Rodrigues Nerys Edson Renan Barros de Santana Cláudia Sampaio de Andrade Lima Virgínia Maria Barros de Lorena Cristiane Moutinho Lagos de Melo 2018Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2018,8,5:0
