| 2 | Differences in Tree Species Diversity and Soil Nutrient Status in a Tropical Sacred Forest Ecosystem on Niyamgiri Hill Range,Eastern Ghats,India显示文摘We have quantitatively analyzed the tree species diversity with respect to soil nutrient status in three sites of a sacred forest ecosystem of Niyamgiri hill range,Eastern Ghats,India.Extensive field surveys and sampling were conducted in 3 sites of the hill range:Site 1 Pterocarpus dominated forest(PTF)(19°40'02.2' N and 83°21'23.1' E),Site 2 Mangifera dominated forest(MAF)(19°40'02.8' N and 83°21'40.8' E) and Site 3 Mixed forest(MIF)(19°36'47.1' N and 83°21'02.7' E).A total of 28 families,42 genera,46 tree species,and 286 individual trees were recorded on an area of 0.6 ha.Tree density varied between 470 and 490 individuals ha-1 and average basal area between 3.16 and 10.04 m2 ha-1.Shannon Index(H') ranged from 2.34 to 4.53,Simpson's Index ranged from 0.07 to 0.09,and equitability Index ranged from 0.7 to 1.34.The number of individuals was highest in the girth at breast height(GBH) class of 50-70 cm.The soil nutrient status of the three forest types was related to tree species diversity.The soil pH value of the three sites reflected the slightly acidic nature of the area.Species diversity was positively correlated with organic carbon and phosphorus and negatively with nitrogen,EC and pH.The results of the current study may be helpful to further develop a conservation planfor tree species in tropical sacred forest ecosystems. | Sudam Charan SAHU Nabin Kumar DHAL Brij LAL Rama Chandra MOHANTY | 2012 | Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,4: | 5 |
| 3 | Application of hopcalite catalyst for controlling carbon monoxide emission at cold-start emission conditions显示文摘Carbon monoxide(CO) is a poisonous gas particularly to all leaving being present in the atmosphere.An estimate has shown that the vehicular exhaust contributes the largest source of CO pollution in developed countries.Due to the exponentially increasing number of automobile vehicles on roads,CO concentrations have reached an alarming level in urban areas.To control this vehicular exhaust pollution,the end-of-pipe-technology using catalytic converters is recommended.The catalysts operating efficiently in a catalytic converter are a challenging class of materials for applications in cold start of engines to maintain indoor air quality.In the cold start period,the catalytic converter was entirely inactive,because the catalytic converter had not been warmed up.The cold start phase is also depending upon the characteristics of vehicles and property of catalysts.The increasing cost of noble metals with the increasing number of vehicles motivates the investigation of material concepts to reduce the precious metal content in automotive catalysts or to find a substitute for noble metals.Hopcalite(CuMnOx) catalyst could work very well at the low temperature;thus,it can overcome the problem of cold-start emissions if used in a catalytic converter.Further,low cost,easy availability and advanced synthesis methods with stabilizer,promoter,etc.,advocates for the use of hopcalite as an auto exhaust purification catalyst.Although there are numerous research articles present on this topic until now,no review has been presented for demanding this issue.So there is a space in this area,and it has been made an attempt to seal this hole and progress the future scope for hopcalite catalyst for purification of exhaust gases by this review. | Subhashish Dey Ganesh Chandra Dhal Devendra Mohan Ram Prasad | 2019 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2019,6,5: | 3 |
| 4 | Nutrient optimization for plant growth in Aquaponic irrigation using Machine Learning for small training datasets显示文摘With the recent trends in urban agriculture and climate change,there is an emerging need for alternative plant culture techniques where dependence on soil can be eliminated.Hydroponic and aquaponic growth techniques have proven to be viable alternatives,but the lack of efficient and optimal practices for irrigation and nutrient supply limits its applications on a large-scale commercial basis.The main purpose of this research was to develop statistical methods and Machine Learning algorithms to regulate nutrient concentrations in aquaponic irrigation water based on plant needs,for achieving optimal plant growth and promoting broader adoption of aquaponic culture on a commercial scale.One of the key challenges to developing these algorithms is the sparsity of data which requires the use of Bolstered error estimation approaches.In this paper,several linear and non-linear algorithms trained on relatively small datasets using Bolstered error estimation techniques were evaluated,for selecting the best method in making decisions regarding the regulation of nutrients in hydroponic environments.After repeated tests on the dataset,it was decided that Semi-Bolstered Resubstitution Error estimation technique works best in our case using Linear Support Vector Machine as the classifier with the value of penalty parameter set to one.A set of recommended rules have been prescribed as a Decision Support System,using the output of the Machine Learning algorithm,which have been tested against the results of the baseline model.Further,the positive impact of the recommended nutrient concentrationson plant growth in aquaponic environments has been elaborately discussed. | Sambandh Bhusan Dhal Muthukumar Bagavathiannan Ulisses Braga-Neto Stavros Kalafatis | 2022 | Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture2022,,1: | 2 |
