| 2 | Acupuncture activates signal transduction pathways related to brain-tissue restoration after ischemic injury显示文摘A middle cerebral artery occlusion-model was established in rats using the improved thread embolism method.Rats were treated with acupuncture at either Dazhui(DU14),Renzhong(DU26), Baihui(DU20),or a non-meridian point.Detection with protein-chip technology showed that the level of protein phosphorylation in both groups was upregulated or downregulated depending on the signaling pathway compared with the model group that did not receive acupuncture.Analysis of proteins showing downregulated phosphorylation revealed that five signaling pathways were activated in the acupuncture-treatment group,while only two were activated in the acupuncture-control group.In contrast,analysis of proteins showing upregulated phosphorylation revealed only one pathway was activated in the acupuncture-treatment group,whereas four pathways were activated in the acupuncture-control group.Furthermore,the number of activated proteins in the acupuncture-treatment group was not only higher than the acupuncture-control group,but unlike the acupuncture-control group,the majority of activated proteins were key proteins in the signaling pathways.Our findings indicate that acupuncture at specific points can activate multiple signaling pathways to promote the restoration of brain tissue following ischemic injury,and that this is based on a combination of effects resulting from multiple pathways,targets,and means. | Haomei Tian Hong Zhang Junbao Zhu Juan Zhang Hening Cai Yuchen Zhang Chutao Chen | 2012 | Neural Regeneration Research2012，7，24： | 9 |
| 3 | Three-dimensional multimodal sub-diffraction imaging with spinning-disk confocal microscopy using blinking/ fluctuating probes显示文摘Three-dimensional imaging cannot be achieved easily using previously developed localization super-resolution techniques. Here, we present a three-dimensional multimodal sub-diffraction imaging technique with spinning-disk (SD) confocal microscopy called 3D-MUSIC, which not only has all the advantages of SD confocal microscopy such as fast imaging speed, high signal-to-noise ratio, and optical-sectioning capability, but also extends its spatial resolution limit along all three dimensions. Both axial and lateral resolution can be improved simul- taneously by virtue of the blinking/fluctuating nature of modified fluorescent probes, exemplified with the quantum dots. Further, super-resolution images with dual modality can be obtained through super-resolution optical fluctuation imaging (SOFI) and bleaching/blinking-assisted localization microscopy (BALM). | 4 | Comparison of conventional radiography and MDCT in suspected scaphoid fractures显示文摘AIM: To determine the diagnostic accuracy and radiation dose of conventional radiography and multidetector computed tomography(MDCT) in suspected scaphoid fractures.METHODS: One hundred twenty-four consecutive patients were enrolled in our study who had suffered from a wrist trauma and showed typical clinical symptoms suspicious of an acute scaphoid fracture. All patients had initially undergone conventional radiography. Subsequent MDCT was performed within 10 d because of persisting clinical symptoms. Using the MDCT data as the reference standard, a fourfold table was used to classify the test results. The effective dose and impaired energy were assessed in order to compare the radiation burden of the two techniques. The Wilcoxon test was performed to compare the two diagnostic modalities.RESULTS: Conventional radiography showed 34 acute fractures of the scaphoid in 124 patients(42.2%). Subsequent MDCT revealed a total of 42 scaphoid fractures. The sensitivity of conventional radiography for scaphoid fracture detection was 42.8% and its specificity was 80% resulting in an overall accuracy of 59.6%. Conventional radiography was significantly inferior to MDCT(P < 0.01) concerning scaphoidfracture detection. The mean effective dose of MDCT was 0.1 m Sv compared to 0.002 m Sv of conventional radiography.CONCLUSION: Conventional radiography is insufficient for accurate scaphoid fracture detection. | 5 | Two-stage pH Control Mode in Batch Fermentation of a Novel Bioflocculant from Corynebacterium Glutamicum显示文摘The effect of pH of the fermentation medium on cell growth and the production of a novel bioflocculant(named REA-11) by Corynebacterium glutamicum CCTCC M201005 were investigated. The maximum biomass(2.23 g/L) and flocculating activity(142.2 U/mL) were simultaneously obtained at the 14th hour when the pH value of the culture medium was maintained at 7.0 during the whole fermentation process. The production of REA-11 kept on a trend of increase till the later phase of fermentation process, which resulted in the ultimate flocculating activity of the culture broth to enhance to nearly 100 U/mL at pH 6.0. A two-stage pH control mode was adopted in REA-11 production in which the pH value of the culture medium was controlled at 7.0 during the first 14 h, then decreased to 6.0 that was maintained until the end of the fermentation process. With the two-stage pH control mode, the maximum flocculating activity reached 178.8 U/mL which was 30% higher than that obtained under the condition of pH 7.0 and the biomass enhanced about 15%.
