Effects of sulfur fertilization and short-term high temperature on wheat grain production and wheat flour proteins显示文摘The content of wheat flour proteins affects the quality of wheat flour. Sulfur nutrition in wheat can change the protein content of the flour. The inconsistency and instability of wheat grain quality during grain filling under high temperature stress(HTS) are a major challenge to the production of high-quality wheat. The effects of sulfur fertilization and HTS on wheat flour protein and its components are unknown. In this study, treatments varying two factors: sulfur fertilization and exposure to short-term HTS, at 20 days postanthesis, were applied to two wheat cultivars with differing gluten types. Plants of a stronggluten wheat(Gaoyou 2018) and a medium-gluten wheat(Zhongmai 8) were grown in pots in Beijing in 2015–2017. HTS significantly increased the contents of total protein, albumin, gliadin, glutenin, Cys, and Met in wheat kernels, but reduced grain yield, grain weight, protein yield, globulin content, and total starch accumulation. The HTS-induced increase in total protein amount was closely associated with nitrate reductase(NR) and glutamine synthetase(GS) activities in flag leaves. Sulfur fertilization increased grain and protein yields; grain weight; total protein, albumin, gliadin, glutenin, and globulin contents; protein yield; total starch; Cys, Met; and NR and GS activities. HTS and sulfur fertilization had larger effects on the strong-than on the medium-gluten cultivar. Sulfur fertilization also alleviated the negative effects of HTS on grain yield, protein yield, and starch content. Thus, growing wheat with additional soil sulfur can improve the quality of the flour.Zhiqiang Tao Xuhong Chang Demei Wang Yanjie Wang Shaokang Ma Yushuang Yang Guangcai Zhao 2018The Crop Journal2018,6,4:11
Effects of tridimensional uniform sowing on water consumption, nitrogen use, and yield in winter wheat显示文摘Wheat is a staple crop worldwide, but yields may diminish as climate change causes increasingly unpredictable patterns of precipitation and soil nutrient availability. Farmers are thus challenged to maximize planting efficiency to increase yield, while also improving their resource use efficiency. In this study the effectiveness of tridimensional uniform sowing was tested across a range of planting densities for winter wheat crops on the North China Plain. Tridimensional uniform sowing was tested against conventional drilling at three planting densities (180 × 104, 270 × 104, and 360 × 104 plants ha 1) and assessed for water consumption, biomass, nitrogen uptake and allocation, and aspects of yield. The tridimensional uniform sowing treatment outperformed the conventional drilling treatment in most metrics and at most planting densities, while performing markedly better at higher planting densities. Water consumption decreased and nitrogen efficiency increased. Tiller number and percentage of productive tillers, leaf area index, dry weight, and yield increased without a significant decline in grain protein. Nitrogen allocation was more efficient under tridimensional uniform sowing than with conventional drilling, and also varied according to annual precipitation and planting density. Both yield and grain protein contents were significantly correlated with the amount of pre-anthesis accumu- lated nitrogen translocated from vegetative organs to kernels after anthesis. Overall, a density of 270 × 104 plants ha 1 provided the highest water use efficiency and grain yield. Tridimensional uniform sowing will benefit farmers by forming stronger overall crops, promoting the coordinated improvement of yield, nitrogen uptake and efficiency, and increasing grain protein content at higher planting densities.Zhiqiang Tao Shaokang Ma Xuhong Chang Demei Wang Yanjie Wang Yushuang Yang Guangcai Zhao Jiancang Yang 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,4:8
Transcriptomics and metabolomics analyses provide insights into postharvest ripening and senescence of tomato fruit under low temperature显示文摘Tomato is one of the most important vegetable crops in the world and is a model plant used to study the ripening of climacteric fleshy fruit.During the ripening process of tomato fruit, flavor and aroma metabolites, color, texture and plant hormones undergo significant changes. However, low temperatures delayed the ripening process of tomato fruit, inhibiting flavor compounds and ethylene production.Metabolomics and transcriptomics analyses of tomato fruit stored under low temperature(LT,5°C)and room temperature(RT,25°C)were carried out to investigate the effects of storage temperature on the physiological changes in tomato fruit after harvest. The results of transcriptomics changes revealed that the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)involved in tomato fruit ripening, including several kinds of transcription factors(TFs)(TCP,WRKY,MYB and bZIP),enzymes involved in cell wall metabolism[beta-galactosidase(β-GAL),pectinesterase(PE)and pectate lyase(PL),cellulose and cellulose synthase(CESA)],enzymes associated with fruit flavor and aroma[acetyltransferase(AT),malic enzyme(ME),lipoxygenase(LOX),aldehyde dehydrogenase(ALDH),alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH)and hexokinase(HK)],genes associated with heat stress protein 70 and genes involved in the production of plant hormones such as Ethylene responsive factor 1(ERF1),Auxin/indoleacetic acids protein(AUX/IAA),gibberellin regulated protein.Based on the above results,we constructed a regulatory network model of the effects of different temperatures during the fruit ripening process.According to the analysis of the metabolomics results,it was found that the contents of many metabolites in tomato fruit were greatly affected by storage temperature, including, organic acids(L-tartaric acid,a-hydroxyisobutyric acid and 4-acetamidobutyric acid),sugars(melezitose,beta-Dlactose,D-sedoheptulose 7-phosphate,2-deoxyribose 1-phosphate and raffinose)and phenols(coniferin, curcumin and feruloylputrescine). This study revealed the effects of storage temperature on postharvest tomato fruit and provided a basis for further understanding of the molecular biology and biochemistry of fruit ripening.Chunmei Bai Caie Wu Lili Ma Anzhen Fu Yanyan Zheng Jiawei Han Changbao Li Shuzhi Yuan Shufang Zheng Lipu Gao Xinhua Zhang Qing Wang Demei Meng Jinhua Zuo 2023Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,1:3
Extrarenal Wilms’ Tumor of the Female Genital System:A Case Report and Literature Review显示文摘Extrarenal Wilms’ Tumors (ERWTs) are rare. There have been only 25 cases of ERWT arising from the female genital system reported in the literature. In this paper, we report a 60-year-old woman with a complaint of vaginal bleeding and a polypoid mass in the uterine cavity by sonography that was demonstrated as ERWT by pathology after resection. The pathological characteristics, histological origination, diagnosis, therapy and prognosis of ERWT in female reproductive system are discussed in this paper in the purpose of improving the diagnosis and therapy of this rare tumor.Minmin Cao Cuiping Huang Yafen Wang Demei Ma 2017Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2017,32,4:3

Regulations of m^(6)A methylation on tomato fruit chilling injury显示文摘Tomato fruit are sensitive to chilling injury(CI)during cold storage.Several factors have been discovered to be involved in chilling injury of tomato fruit.Plant hormones play an important regulatory role, however, the relationship between chilling injury and N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)methylation of transcripts in plant hormone pathways has not been reported yet.In order to clarify the complex regulatory mechanism of m^(6)A methylation on chilling injury in tomato fruit,Nanopore direct RNA sequencing was employed.A large number of enzymes and transcription factors were found to be involved in the regulation process of fruit chilling injury, which were associated with plant hormone, such as 1-aminocyclopropane 1-carboxylate synthase(ACS),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),auxin response factor(ARF2),ethylene response factor 2(ERF2),gibberellin 20-oxidase-3(GA20ox)and jasmonic acid(JA).By conjoint analysis of the differential expression transcripts related to chilling injury andm^(6)Amethylation differential expression transcripts 41 differential expression transcripts were identified involved in chilling injury including 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate oxidase(ACO)and pectinesterase(PE)were down-regulated and heat shock cognate 70 kD protein 2(cpHSC70),HSP70-binding protein(HspBP)and salicylic acid-binding protein 2(SABP2)were up-regulated.Our results will provide a deeper understanding for chilling injury regulatory mechanism and post-harvest cold storage of tomato fruit.Chunmei Bai Minghuan Fang Baiqiang Zhai Lili Ma Anzhen Fu Lipu Gao Xiaohong Kou Demei Meng Qing Wang Shufang Zheng Jinhua Zuo 2021Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,5:2

Dual functions of PsmiR172b-PsTOE3 module in dormancy release and flowering in tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa)显示文摘MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are non-coding RNAs that interact with target genes and are involved in many physiological processes in plants.miR172-AP2 mainly plays a role in the regulation of f lowering time and floral organ differentiation.Bud dormancy release is necessary for forcing culture of tree peony in winter, but the mechanism of dormancy regulation is unclear. In this study,we found that a miR172 family member,PsmiR172b,was downregulated during chilling-induced bud dormancy release in tree peony, exhibiting a trend opposite to that of PsTOE3.RNA ligase-mediated(RLM)5-RACE(rapid amplification of cDNA ends)confirmed that miR172b targeted PsTOE3,and the cleavage site was between bases 12(T)and 13(C)within the complementary site to miR172b.The functions of miR172b and PsTOE3 were detected by virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS)and their overexpression in tree peony buds.PsmiR172b negatively regulated bud dormancy release, but PsTOE3 promoted bud dormancy release, and the genes associated with bud dormancy release, including PsEBB1,PsEBB3,PsCYCD,and PsBG6,were upregulated.Further analysis indicated that PsTOE3 directly regulated PsEBB1 by binding to its promoter, and the specific binding site was a C-repeat(ACCGAC).Ectopic expression in Arabidopsis revealed that the PsmiR172b-PsTOE3 module displayed conservative function in regulating f lowering. In conclusion, our results provided a novel insight into the functions of PsmiR172-PsTOE3 and possible molecular mechanism underlying bud dormancy release in tree peony.Yuxi Zhang Linqiang Gao Yanyan Wang Demei Niu Yanchao Yuan Chunying Liu Xinmei Zhan Shupeng Gai 2023Horticulture Research2023,10,4:0
Spatiotemporal dynamics and geo-environmental factors influencing mangrove gross primary productivity during 2000–2020 in Gaoqiao Mangrove Reserve, China显示文摘Background:Mangrove forests are a significant contributor to the global carbon cycle, and the accurate estimation of their gross primary productivity(GPP)is essential for understanding the carbon budget within blue carbon ecosystems.Little attention has been given to the investigation of spatiotemporal patterns and ecological variations within mangrove ecosystems,as well as the quantitative analysis of the influence of geo-environmental factors on time-series estimations of mangrove GPP.Methods:This study explored the spatiotemporal dynamics of mangrove GPP from 2000 to 2020 in Gaoqiao Mangrove Reserve,China.A leaf area index(LAI)-based light-use efficiency(LUE)model was combined with Landsat data on Google Earth Engine(GEE)to reveal the variations in mangrove GPP using the Mann-Kendall(MK)test and Theil-Sen median trend. Moreover, the spatiotemporal patterns and ecological variations in mangrove ecosystems across regions were explored using four landscape indicators.Furthermore, the effects of six geo-environmental factors(species distribution, offshore distance, elevation, slope, planar curvature and profile curvature)on GPP were investigated using Geodetector and multi-scale geo-weighted regression(MGWR).Results:The results showed that the mangrove forest in the study area experienced an area loss from 766.26 ha in 2000 to 718.29 ha in 2020,mainly due to the conversion to farming, terrestrial forest and aquaculture zones.Landscape patterns indicated high levels of vegetation aggregation near water bodies and aquaculture zones, and low levels of aggregation but high species diversity and distribution density near building zone. The mean value of mangrove GPP continuously increased from 6.35 g C⋅m^(-2)⋅d^(-1) in 2000 to 8.33 g C⋅m^(-2)⋅d^(-1) in 2020,with 23.21%of areas showing a highly and significantly increasing trend(trend value>0.50).The Geodetector and MGWR analyses showed that species distribution, offshore distance and elevation contributed most to the GPP variations. Conclusions:These results provide guidelines for selecting GPP products, and the combination of Geodetector and MGWR based on multiple geo-environmental factors could quantitatively capture the mode, direction, pathway and intensity of the influencing factors on mangrove GPP variation. The findings provide a foundation for understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics of mangrove GPP at the landscape or regional scale.Demei Zhao Yinghui Zhang Junjie Wang Jianing Zhen Zhen Shen Kunlun Xiang Haoli Xiang Yongquan Wang Guofeng Wu 2023Forest Ecosystems2023,10,5:0
